Urijah Faber vs. Jens Pulver WEC fight confirmed for June 1
The wait is over as the WEC finally confirmed the date for arguably its biggest fight ever.
Urijah "The California Kid" Faber (20-1-0) will defend his featherweight title against MMA legend and former UFC lightweight champion, Jens "Little Evil" Pulver (22-8-1), at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, Calif., on June 1.
Although Faber is regarded as one of the top 145-pounders in the world, Pulver is undefeated in the division (8-0), submitting Cub Swanson in 31 seconds during his WEC debut back in December 2007.
Miguel Torres (33-1-0), fresh off a dominating performance against Chase Beebe to earn the 135-pound strap, will be on the card as well. He will make his first WEC bantamweight title defense against Mexican slugger Manny Tapia (10-0-1), who is coming off a split decision victory over Antonio Banuelos at WEC 32.
WEC 34: "Faber vs. Pulver" will air at 9 p.m. ET on Versus.
This should be one the biggest nights in the short history of the WEC, and it's even a bigger plus for it to take place live on Versus. It's hard to beat watching an MMA legend go against the future of the sport on free TV, right?

It’ll be a good scrap.. but Faber is too strong for lil’evil. Too bad, cause I like Jens. Oh well..maybe next time.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for those odds! I would say:
Faber: -350
Pulver: plus 250
Even at those odds, I think all of the action would be on Faber.

faber’s too quick and too strong to allow for a Pulver win anywhere on the ground. Standing, Pulver has a chance with a left hook, but not much of one.

he trains with BJ & J-Lau 2 guys who beat Jens in his last 2 UFC fights. this should be an awesome fight. im a fan of both of these guys but i will be going for LilEvil cause ive been cheering for him longer. but i wont be to disappointed if Uriah wins. i wuold like to see Uriah go up to 155 for a rematch against Tyson Griffin, cause i dont think T.G can make 145.
also looking forward to seeing Torres. he schooled chase in his last fight. hope he does the same to manny.
man i cant believe how many great fight cards there is on free tv this year, hope it TSN in Canada shows it on the same night it happens, cause sometimes i have to wait for a while WEC events to broadcast. the show from Alb.New Mex. was shown the same night 3 hours later on tape delay.

How can I get Versus on Direct TV? It kills me to always here about these cards and I can’t watch. If Zuffa owns the WEC why don’t they do a deal with Spike? Who the hell wants to watch re runs of CSI over and over again anyways.

You have to purchase the choice extra plan.

Thanks guys. I have like the most expensive package with all the movie channels. I even pay for the playboy channel. I just figured Versus wasn’t available where I live.

ooo man.. jens looked siiiiick the way he choked out cub so quickly and easily like he was a little kid or something. but when i seen faber’s atomic butt drop right on the guy’s head was like… damn! who actually does that in a real fight?!!! insult ONTOP OF injury! when they both step into the ring i don’t think i can root against pulver. but like everybody else, i think faber has too much going for him right now.

If you have Total Choice Plus you should have it. Its on 603 or 604. Versus even has a high def channel that it shares with The Golf Channel.
If you have Dish you need to purchase the Top 250 package.

Rooster if you read the line again its says arguably the WEC’s biggest fight ever. Just thought I would point that out.
And I have to agree this is going to be an amazing fight and by my regards it is the WEC’s biggest fight ever!

Damn TSN. We should all right them and say that their MMA converage is really lacking and ask them to show more live/tape delayed shows. Sucks watching a fight when you already know who won and how. Its great that they show the WEC but the way they do it isnt very consistent.

From some of BJ’s words it sounded to me like HE wanted to train with Faber because his physique is closer to Sherk’s. I think Faber is more exciting to watch than just about any other fighter out there. I’ve been waiting for this match and it’s free!

Chump huh…? wow.. considering he is a legend and held a ufc belt, must take a real chump to accomplish that. Evil all the way!

It is always a little sad when the legends get beat by the whippersnappers. Maybe ‘Lil’ Evil’ can pull it off.

Faber: omg crazy fast
Pulver: can go (no joke) Psycho with the heavy hitting.
This is a very hard fight to call and a great matchup. Can wait for tonight.

Both Pulver and Faber, amazing fighters. The fight was a total war but it didn’t go the way anyone thought it would. Faber showed his strength and speed in this fight but he had never met a tougher opponent then Jens. Jens’s only problem this fight was that every time they came in for an exchange, he didn’t have a jab. He never really unloaded his left hock and it was because he had no set-up with his jab. Other then that he got hit in the head with BUMBS and still didn’t go down. To me Jens is only going to come back stronger then ever. As to Faber, he did prove himself and showed why he is the champ.
