If Ken Shamrock takes a fight with Kimbo Ken might actually die……But let it happen, it should make Ken retire for good.

I like Kimbo, I can’t wait to see him evolve as a fighter, become more well-rounded, more ground game, etc. I think he could be a really dominant fighter. I love his killer instinct. You’ll never see a boring-ass, lay-and-pray fight from him!

I would love to see him vs. Tyson though.

yeah, that man needs to call it a night. Forget about fighting kimbo and frank. Ken hasn’t won a fight in years and just continues to dump on his legacy.

God I hope he meant malt liquor when he said he and his colt 45 would take on a grizzly bear.

Seems like a cool, down to earth guy. Can’t wait to see him in the cage again… hopefully against a guy that’ll stand and trade with him. We’ll find out later today!!

why on earth do we talk about this bum,,if he was in the ufc he wouldnt be in the top 15 in the heavyweight class…kimbo is nuthin but a novelty act i would take eddie sanchez or hector ramirez over that bum

Y so much hate on the guy? he is a novice mma fighter, and he is trying to work his way up….nothing wrong with that. He seems to be training hard, respecting the sport and taking it seriously, so y hate on the man, cause you dont like his background? all fighters aren’t school teachers like Rich Franklin. Kimbo is working his way up in an organization that doesnt have that much depth in his division. Its better than Brock, who is in a mjaor organization, that was selling us a novice mma fighter(Brock as a co main event) against Mir in a fight that he couldnt win. Or that now the UFC is going ot sell us Brock vs. Coleman as one of the headlining match because the event happens to take place in his hometown. Even worse is the fact that the UFC is going to market Brock vs. Coleman like its actually relevant to the heavyweight division.

Brock is working his way up, I can respect that. At least he is agressove, has a killer instinct, and isnt afraid to get hit. Those are important qualities to have. Those qualities make a huge difference in a fighter. Look at Jason McDonald, he has all the skills and talent in the world, but with out toughness and killer instinct he will never take his game to the next level

FYI: Hector Ramirez is a light heavyweight so he could never be matched up with Kimbo!

He better hurry hes getting old. He doesnt lay n pray because he has no ground or wrestling skill. How many times in mma do we have to see a brawler who is so tough that it doesnt matter if he doesnt have much skill. History will repeat itself once gary shaw stops feeding him cans and gives him a skillful opponent. People say that its only his second fight and everybody fights cans to begin with but kimbo is headlining cards! I say that headlining cards should involve high caliber fighters. I know its a bussiness and kimbo is making money right now but its a gimmick. History will repeat itself once gary shaw has completely milked the kimbo cashcow.

by alexguy on Mar 19, 2008 3:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Better interview than I thought it would be but still not big on him. He generally seems to be all striking, although that is all it has taken, but if and when someone takes him down and he either survives or even excels then I will consider him a mixed martial artist and not just a brawler. Until such time he seems mostly blitz and bluster to me and will thus only give a passing notice.

by wannabe on Mar 19, 2008 3:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i hope his next fight is against the Headhunter Paul Buentello.i dont think he would be afraid to stand and slug it out with Kimbo. the HEADHUNTER has got a solid chin, even though the PITBULL KOed him with a punch back in 2005.IMO AA is the hardest puncher all of MMA. most of Pauls losses came by sub. and we all know that Kimbo isnt going to try sub. him. IMO even though he lost to Overeem he still is probably the best opponent for Kimbo.

I don’t understand the hate for the guy either. Bad past; yes, but who cares…he’s trying hard and is taking this seriously now. As far as him headlining cards (and the same goes for Brock); do you blame them? Name a fighter that wouldn’t fight in a main event given the chance. Be pissed at Shaw and White if you want, but don’t blame the fighters for cashing in on their “celebrity” status. Anyone that says they wouldn’t do the same is either lying or insane.

Nobody asked you to click on the interview or even type a comment. Obviously he’s intriguing enough to have you click play to see what he has to say. I would understand the hate if he stuck to just being a street fighter and said I dont need to develop any new skills, I can beat people just with my street brawling. But he’s not. Training with a legend (Bas Rutten) who has nothing but good things to say about his work ethic and heart. So lay off the guy. Or dont click on any more Kimbo links if you despise him so much.

Pigbelly, sorry if I and Kimbo offended you. But really, if your going to be that sensitive, maybe MMA is the not the right sport for you. It’s just a comment on his interview. That’s what this whole bulletin is here for. Don’t try to get into an analytical debate here. Not the time nor the place. Relax.

Those haters just don’t understand a that a guy like Kimbo can be totally molded into an awesome fighter… he doesn’t come from any of the traditional fighting backgrounds such as wrestling, juj, muay t, etc.. it wasn’t to many years ago that people didn’t understand how devastating a wrestler could be in a street fight or MMA.

Kimbo will be a well rounded fighter and will eventually fight those tough/experienced MMA fighters and win or lose, will convince many, he belongs in MMA and could prove to be a challenge to many top heavys in the world.

Quick note in defense of Ken. Everyone (including Ken) realizes he will never hold a belt again, probably will never even be considered a gatekeeper to a belt. In many instances that would make a man want to retire and find other things to occupy his time/make a living. But maybe it’s not about that to him. He is still a reasonably young man, and can anyone here say that they would walk away from a job they trained for their entire lives so easily? Granted he’s old for mma, but I’m guessing that in his mind it’s better to compete and lose than not compete at all. All this being said, I am NOT a Shamrock fan, but I can understand why he’s holding on.

And have to agree, people need to get off the guys back…He wanted MMA, the people gave it to him. Let him do what he’s doing FFS! Give the guy a couple of years 5-6 fights then start judging him if he makes no progress!

Ken should go back to Pancrase, where closed-fist strikes are not allowed. It’s obvious his boxing is terrible, and his hands are a lot slower than they used to be. He’s just gonna keep on getting KTFO’d otherwise.

Agreed. On both counts. The Lesnar-Coleman, ahem, fight is even more of a joke to the sport of MMA than Kimbo coming into the sport and trying to make an impact. Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for what Coleman did in his day and he deserves his HoF induction, but come on. And we all know, or should know, exactly why Lesnar was brought into the UFC. It sure wasn’t for his MMA fighting skills. But people have said give him a chance to grow into the sport and prove whether or not he belongs. OK, I’ll grant that. Just give Kimbo the same opportunity.

I completely Agree. Why is it Ok for Brock to fight in mma, and co headline the superbowl weekend event in a completely mismatched fight with Mir? Why is it ok for Brock to be headlining a UFC event in his hometown against a Ken-Shamrock-like Coleman, in a fight that the UFC will market has actually being relevant to the UFC heavyweight division (when we all know its not) and have to pay $45 for these events? But its not Ok for Kimbo to humbly work his way into becoming a martial artist? Kimbo has respected the sport, he is comiited, he is working hard, what more do you want from the man?

Sorry, but not all fighters come from a teachers background like Rich Franklin, but they deserve the same chance as everyone else.

I am sick of people respecting Brock, but Hating on Kimbo, when in realityt he are in the same situation, 1 dimensional fighters working their way into mma, the only difference is they have a different base style.

kimbo outboxed a former wbo heavyweight champion (ray mercer) and then submitted him with guillotine choke, back in the day mercer was the man but then again ray mercer is a bum now. i train in mma and i give kimbo a lot of credit,he is traing with one of the best in Bas Rutten. also if you watch his most famous street fight he put his hands down and let a guy his size strike him several times in the face, without blinking went on th damn near knock his eyeout. also i dont care to haear about this so called to old shit, he’s 35 three years younger than chuck liddel, 10 years younger than randy couture both of them who are still at the top of theier game hell randy is getting better with age. i think kimbo is in his prime right now, and as for the ufc they have good fighters but i wouldn’t consider them to have the best just cause they fight for the UFC its mostly a name the is all about them and not the sport of MMA there is not a legitimate heavyweight in the ufc, besides frank mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. so quit talking shit about his age and not having any ground game and go step in the cage yourself with him, or just go find a fight with any amatuer and see how huge the competition is.
