HOLY SLOW NEWS DAY!
Every year they show that Polar Bear club or whatever jumping into the freezing cold water on SportsCenter. I know that I have been seeing it for years (they said the 2nd annual on the clip). I didn’t notice where it took place, but Chuck said the he trains right around the same area as a lot of the people in the polar club. That would make me think that they were right at home in California. How ‘shocking’ can it be to jump in to the ocean in California? How cold does northern California get in the winter? Plus, its half way thru March. If this rinkydink polar bear club wants to prove themselves, they need to get to Antartica in January, not California in March… LOL

Violent Mike: It was shot in Pismo Beach which is about 5 miles from San Luis. And trust me, that water is cold. I used to live in San Luis and was surprised how cold the water was when I moved there.

The Pacific Ocean is pretty damn cold! And I live in San Diego! I cant imagine what its like up there…
“over-raTED chuck wouldnt have seen the 2nd round of a fight wit thiago”
Although your grammar is absolutely terrible, I have to agree with you, Thiago Silva has really impressed me in that division… As long as he could avoid getting put to sleep in the first round I think he could get Lidell on the ground and submit or ground and pound him… See the Houston Alexander fight and youll see where I am coming from…

San Luis Obispo looks to be inbetween LA and San Francsico, which are all in the southern half of California. Isn’t the temperature there pretty nice all year round? I mean, I’m from CT and the winters get pretty cold. Looking at a map, CT and the very top most part of California look to be the same distance from the equator so I would think that their seasons/temperature’s would be pretty similar. But this area is much much closer to the equator. Isn’t it nice in San Fran all year round?
You can obviously tell that I’ve never been to Cali before…

Houston Alexander’s sprawl, wrestling ability, and ablity to get up once taken down are all no where near the level of Chuck Liddell’s. I do agree that Thiago can put a hurting on Chuck but I don’t think that he’d be able to take Chuck down at will and keep him there for long periods of time.

Pussy shit. You guys got nothing on the polar bear dip up here in Canada.
Try jumping in the great lakes during the winter.
Californians don’t know what cold is.

No need for the Polar bear club to jump into the Artic Sea to prove themselves. Jumpoing inot the Atlantic Ocean in febuary will do just fine. I have to agree that Jumping into the Pacif in march isnt all that impressive.

The Pacific Ocean and Pismo Beach are both very cold and in January its a different cold, its freezing. Nothing like the East Coast, but living here in SLO were a bit spoiled by the nice weather, so the slightest breeze and were complaining.
Also, John you can go ahead and keep your Atlantic Ocean Polar Bear Club, that’s way too cold! If you ever get a chance to come to California visit here in SLO and you’ll never want to leave. Santa Barbara is also just an hour away.

Say what you will, it’s not a Polar Bear swim if you don’t have to cut through ice to get access to the water.

SLO is awesome. The weather here on the Central Coast never gets too hot or too cold. Best weather in the country. Also, SLO is a college town, Cal Poly, so you get a lot hotties here. Santa Barbara is an hour away and there are even more women there. This is paradise, you’d dig it! Beaches, Wine Country and Women, what more could you ask for?!

you can get hypothermia in water 40 to 50 degrees in 30 min, 50 to 60 degrees in about an hour. water doesn’t need to be 20 degrees to freeze your ass off.
and besides your missing the point of the video…..
they weren’t plunging to prove their manliness, they were doing it to raise money.

I was at the coast this weekend, and it was a little chilly. Didn’t even think about getting in the water. The Polar bear clubs in MT will jump through holes in the ice in the buff, and come out gender unknown.
