If its in a cage, Randy wins. If its in a ring, fedor. Personally, I think anderlei and chuck would have been a bigger fight, had it happened when they were both in their prime…Besides, arent Ken and Frank Shamrock gonna fight? That’ll be the biggesat fight in the history of the universe…in Ken and Frank’s minds…haha egotistical has beens…or maybe never were.

Ken and Frank are both in completely different weight classes and at one time were excellent fighters. That fight will probably never happen anyway. I think the fight is basically all in favor of Fedor, ring or cage. But I do agree that Randy might have a better advantage in a cage.

Almost forgot, as it stands right now, Randy shouldn’t be considered number 1 or 2 because he hasn’t fought NOG. NOG was able to stop a healthy and in shape Tim Sylvia, and Randy couldn’t stop a beat up and injured Sylvia. Randy got beat by Ricco Rodriguez and Josh Barnett, and NOG beat them both. Sorry randy, I’m a huge fan but you’re number 3 in my scorebook.
by your father on Mar 17, 2008 3:21 PM EDT reply actions
Sorry, but Nog didn’t beat Ricco, the judges beat Ricco. Watch the fight, listen to the commentators, look at the situation. UFC put some fighters up in pride, 2 to be exact, Liddell one by KO against overeem (he later lost to Jackson but not that day), no way was Pride letting UFC go 2-0. I’m a huge NOG fan, but on that night like it or not Ricco won.

FYI for anyone that cares, but that “Iron Ring” fighting begins tomorrow night at 11pm on BET. Floyd Mayweather and several rappers will each coach a team of young MMA fighters. Each team will also have a trainer, such notables include Charles KrazyHorse Bennett and Shonie Carter.
I am setting my DVR for sure. Not because I expect to see some great MMA fights, but simply out of curiousity and for the pure entertainment that will be provided by some of these characters. However, I don’t know if I’ll be watching past the first episode…

I believe that this is almost like a coleman vs. fedor match. Fedor will play with him in the first round and then dominate him in the second. With all the patience that Fedor has shown on giving up and being on his back, this doesnt look good for Randy. Also, Fedor has a great chin. He was knocked silly by Fujita and Crocop and was not only able to survive, but recover unhumanly(real word??) quickly.
Randy got knocked silly by a light heavy weight fighter(lidell) twice. Yeah, Yeah, lidells striking power..all well and good.. but Id rather eat a punch from mayweather than even Holyfield, know what i mean.
It just doesnt look good for Randy and you have to bet the house on Fedor. No one has ever been able to keep fedor on his back, and Randy won’t change that. UFC or no UFC, this is gonna kick ass. I would even love to see it on a strikeforce card televised by NBC. It would be topple any numbers spike has ever obtained and hopefully show Dana people dont give a damn about the UFC, people give a damn about the fighters and the sport!!

Check out Ivan Emilianenko. Very young, but I hear he is a beast in the making. You wont see him fighting in mma for a while because the Russian’s are still altering his DNA to make him a genetic clone of fEDOR. He looks to weigh no more that 180 lbs, but he still has a lot of growing ahead of him.

Randy should quit being picky and fight Nog. That would be one heck of a fight. he should come to realize that fighting Fedor isn’t the last competition for him or last thing for him to accomplish as far as fights go. Nobody has ever been able to finish Noguiera. He should defend his belt by going for that feat, because THAT would be a heck of an accomplishment, MAYBE more so than beating Fedor.
Randy vs. Nog; a fight definitely worth the price of admission.
by Clint on Mar 17, 2008 4:06 PM EDT reply actions
I think, if they fight, they should make a special “half cage – half ropes” type of ring so they they both have the opportunity to use what they prefer when they are in a dominating position. Randy can push up against the cage and Fedor can rope a dope off the ropes etc. Otherwise – I see the loser if they are int he opposite of what they are used to having a huge excuse for losing.

I give a damn about the UFC.. Man I hope Dana signs Fedor before Randy’s contract expires, and forces the fight to happen in the UFC. With all of these other start up organizations coming along and trying to steal the UFC’s athletes, the sport suffers. If Fedor and Randy weren’t so stubborn, this fight would have happened ages ago, and Fedor would be ranked 3 or 4 where he belongs. The UFC and Dana White have done nothing but make MMA a mainstream sport, and given the fighters recognition, and larger pay days. Dana’s no saint but he’s given today’s fighters WAY more conncections then Royce Gracie ever had access to. All the other leagues are just riding the wave.
PS. I love this website, keep it up!

I think the most fair idea for both these fighters is to have 2 fights, 1 in the ring (only fair for Fedor), and 1 in the octagon / cage(fair for Couture).
if fedor is used to fighting in the ring and Couture in the cage who gets to decide where to fight, lets say one of them mans up and says wherever but, what if it favors the other. 2 fights in 1 year ofcourse if fedor wins in ring and Randy in cage then we have the same problem again but, who knows.

Problem with that is, that Couture will want no part of a 2nd fight after the beating Fedor will dish out to him in the 1st fight.
Seriously Fedor is the greatest Heavyweight fighter I have ever seen. He is so good that he toys with his opponents and decides how he wants to beat them. Like with guys he respects like Coleman, he didnt beat him up, he just outclassed him and submitted him. Which is exactly what will happen o Randy. fedor respects him a lot so Fedor wont really beat him up, he will just submit Randy. Also when he fought Lindland who weighed a lot less than him. He could have just physically beat Lindland up easily but he chose to display his skills, submitting a middleweight fighters.
Point is: Fedor is the greatest heavyweight fighter mma has ever had. Nogueira is a legend and is a close secong, although Fedor dominated him. Still Nogueira has been in serious wars, winning the majority of them.
My Heavyweight Rankings:
1.Fedor
2.Nogueira

“Anwhere, but the UFC.” The only reason the fight holds any appeal is because the UFC put Couture in a position to succeed. No one would be clamoring for this fight in 2005, after Randy came off another loss to Chuck. Randy is in for some legal beatings.

barnett tested positive for roide after his fight w/ randy, so if any one ranks barnett ahead of randy on that “win” then rhey need their head examined. nothing personal towards you though, you might not have known this info, but i see alot of veteran bloggers who are ranking barnett over randy and i dont get unless it is still pride nuthugging. randy has been alot more active over the last 2 years thany any hw except nog. thats wahy i would rank nog.#1 randy#2 and fedor#3. now fedor might very well still be the best but has been way too inactive and fought alot lesser opponents than nog and randy. the way one writer described it was how would we feel about a.siva,gsp,b.j. and rampage if they had the same track record as fedor over the last 2 years. not very positive i think. as far as randy fighting fedor anywhere but the ufc, now we see who has the ego!

Just remember that this fight could have EASILY happened last year if Fedor hadn’t had gotten his panties in a wad over fighting in his stupid Sambo tournies and just signed with the UFC. I’d say 75% of this is Fedor’s fault. Randy is also an idiot bc if he had just stayed in the UFC, fedor would DEFINITELY be signing with the UFC right now (if not sooner) since he realized what a finacial mistake he made with M1. So 20% of this is Randy’s fault. And then of course I’ll give the remaining 5% of the blame to Dana for just having an abbrasive personality.

Very good read and I suggest that you all read it because JACRE is coming tot he UFC!
“I had a dinner with Lorenzo Fertita and Dana White. I thought it was a dinner for various fighters, but for my surprise, it was a welcome for me coming back from Brazil and they said they were happy with my participation at the event. This is one of the great advantages of being in Vegas, I have proximity with the owners of the event and that maximizes our relationshio. For you guys to have an idea, we almost got Andre Galvao on this TUF. It didn’t go well because Galvao had some visa issues” (FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! AHHHHHH)
Wanderlei also commented on his new training partner, Ronaldo Jacare, multiple time JJ champion.
“It was a very nice surprise. Jacare came to train at Couture’s and I had the pleasure of meating him personally. A very nice guy, trains hard, and even better, a super talent of jiu jitsu. We are already training together, one helping each other with Robert Drydale, waiting for Galvao” said Wanderlei
Jacare is currently under contract for a few months, but everything indicates that he will head to UFC. Jacare said so in his seminars 2 weeks ago, and his brother also said so. He is also affiliated with Wanderlei, and training in Vegas. Too bad Galvao couldn’t go to TUF because of some lame ass visa stuff.

mmafightline.com: Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira, the current UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion stated recently on a Brazilian radio program called Pânico that he is optimistic about facing Randy Couture still this year, provided Couture settles his legal dispute with Zuffa.
Lets hope so because Fedor vs. Randy will be a 1 sided beating that Fedor could potenially destroy Randy.
Randy vs. Nogueira is more of an even match up.
I actually dont think that Randy could beat either Fedor or Nogueira!

Couture is ranked #3 in the world right now for heavyweights….look it up and due your homework before to start typing……
there is no official rankings.

Fedor will comfortably beat Randy. They are both relatively small heavyweights but Fedor’s speed and ability to find his range so quick will be to much for Randy.
A great fight for everyone to watch is Fedor v Hunt, when Hunt had him in a lock, Fedor got out and over powered the islander – amazing.

I do think Fedor is the best, however
As much as I would like to think there is a ranking out their for MMA fighters, there is not. As there is no single league/association etc all rankings are subjective (subject to a persons or organisation) to the formula used to create the system. Unfortunately, with the UFC having ‘exclusive’ contracts we will never truly know.

I’m sure that’s a small part of it, but not the whole enchilada, maybe just the sauce.

Quit being a baby you ae making more than the majority of the fighters out there. So have Kimmy wipe your cry baby tears away. And show that you belong in there with best. By all means Fedor isnt the best but he will do for now!

If your not done doubting Randy ‘The Natural’ ‘Captain America’ Couture, then I’m sorry to say you are sorely mistaken. Watch and learn again as Randy becomes the Undisputed HW Legendary Champion of the WORLD! PERIOD.

Thats fedors national sport youd be pissed too especially whne you see how easily he won and dana was scared he get hurt so blame that percentage on dana
thatd be like getting mad at couture for sparring

Its really hard to not like Randy Couture, but why didnt he just finish out his contract with the UFC? He only had two fights left with the UFC, why didnt he just do them and get out if thats what he really wanted. By now he would have already fought twice and then he could have gone and done whatever he wanted… (support other MMA organizations for example)
If he wasnt happy with his contract, why did he sign/agree to it? I was in the Army for 3 and a half years and believe me, I wasnt signing a damn thing until I knew everything that I was signing up for. I did my time and got out when my time was up because thats what I agreed to, its not like I just bounced because I had a year left and didnt want to do it!
Also, why is Randy Couture putting himself at the top of the heap? Saying that Fedor is the only real competition left for him is egotistical at best. I could have put a way worse word other than egotistical. Im pretty sure when he signed back on with the UFC they didnt tell him that he got to choose his opponents no matter what. If he thinks he is the best, he should have beat two more guys in the UFC and then retired, not bail on the UFC because he only wants to fight one guy and because hes not making enough money.
I respect the guy for being a phenomenol fighter and an inspiration for other fighters and the sport of MMA, but he really needs to think about the decisions he is making.

You people don’t care, but something happened to Randy. He used to be about the sport, passionate and not full of himself etc. I think it’s all gone to his head now and he’s become a bit of an A-hole. It wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened, but this explains his jerky interviews and lame stances on things, as if he’s bigger than the sport. Whatever Randy, just go away and do your acting and your training schools or whatever. You were great when you were younger and livelier and impassioned, now you just seem stuck on yourself.

I was first on multiple posts in the past several says, not once did I mention it though.
Well this is horrible news, that Couture wont fight Fedor in the UFC, because now there’s no need for Dana to land Fedor, and so the HW division remains thin. Bad, bad news.
Yes there is…If the UFC land Fedor where else could Randy fight him? lol Just when we thought there was clear skies ahead

So how come GSP was given permission to compete in wrestling at the Olympics for Canada? Too many double standards in the UFC. I would like to see some concrete rules or policies that the UFC will follow, instead of doing whatever they want. For example, Barnett was never allowed to fight in the UFC after testing positive for Roids, but Sherk is getting an instant title shot as soon as his suspension is over!

I think to some extent that this is all true. Sad, but true!
For you that want to blame Fedor for not signing with the UFC last year, its actually Randy’s fault that the fight hasnt taken place. When Fedor signed with Bodog and they were looking for an opponent for Fedor, which eventuaklly became Lindland, Randy was offered 2 million to fight fedor in Bodog, but he chose to come back to the UFC and fight Sylvia instead.
So I really dont want to hear that its all Fedor’s fault. I put the most blame on Dana, than Randy, and some blame to Fedor!

i think what everyone is forgeting is that randy is a piece of trash who disrespected all his fans by not defending his belt. i dont care how many newbs come in or media cover this event, randy is not the number 1 contender to fight fedor
this dude probably got out of his army contract early because he didnt feel like defending his country anymore.

“Almost forgot, as it stands right now, Randy shouldn’t be considered number 1 or 2 because he hasn’t fought NOG. NOG was able to stop a healthy and in shape Tim Sylvia, and Randy couldn’t stop a beat up and injured Sylvia. Randy got beat by Ricco Rodriguez and Josh Barnett, and NOG beat them both. Sorry randy, I’m a huge fan but you’re number 3 in my scorebook.”
I think you have that backwards.
NOG shouldn’t be considered the champion, since he didn’t beat Randy.

NOG is the real UFC champion!! Nog has been calling out Randy for months now and is more than willing to fight Randy, Fedor or anyone else that the UFC puts in front of him. Randy on the other hand walked away from the UFC, spit on them and all the fans after he should have never even been granted a title shot against Sylvia. He doesnt have all that great of a heavyweight resume in the 1st place. Also he was retired, but before that he was fighting at LHW, which I think he had a better career at. he decides to come out retirement to fight Sylvia, instead of taking the 2 million BODOG offered him to fight Fedor. He made the most out of the title shot that he didnt deserve beating Sylvia in a dominant 5 round decision. Than he beat Gonzaga (who was the most over rated and unproven fighter EVER!) Than he decides to walk away from the UFC that treated him better than they treat any other fighter (besides chucky-poo) and starts trashing the UFC, and disrespecting Nog by saying Fedor is the only fight that makes sense.
The truth is, Nogueira had a much better career fighting as a heavyweight than Randy ever did. Nog would be the biggest fight of Randy’s heavyweight career, but he doesn’t want to step up and take it. If they fought, I would bet Nogueira!
Nogueira is the champion because he is willing to defend the title against any one they put in front of him, especially Randy. Also Both Randy and Nogueira became UFC champions by defeating Tim Sylvia, but Nogueira managed to finish him, so I dont see how anyone in the world could even consider Randy as champion of the UFC.
The only clear cut way of finding out is to have Randy vs. Nogueira. Nog is down for that, Randy isn’t. Therefore Nogueira is the heavyweight champion of the UFC.

Thx VM..I didn’t even know that was going down tonight. DVR.

1.Fedor
2.Nogueira
3.Barnett
4.COUTURE
5.Arlovski
6.Sylvia
7.Kharitonov
8.Werdum
9.Gonzaga
10.Mark Hunt
11.Hearing
12.Verra
13.Mir
14.Lesnar
15.Coleman (to old, hasnt evolved enough as a fighter)
16.Cro Cop (would be higher on this list but right now he is broken down mentally)
1.COUTURE
2.Fedor
3.Nogueira
4.Sylvia
5.Arlovski

I am NOT a Couture fan, (I don’t hate him but have lost respect for him based on current info of the HW title situation), but to accuse someone of taking roids with no proof is assinine and cowardly. If you have proof of such a thing, fine. If not, shut your trap.

nog vs. couture would be a great fight. couture’s best chance would be clinching, and GnP if he gets the chance. Nog would probably submit him. Nog could actualyy Ko or Tko couture due to his reach advantage in stand up.
Wouldn’t it be something if he took on nog and then faught Fedor.
Only prob is he’d quite possibly lose both. His chances with Fedor are much better in the cage. Fedor said he was practicing elbows a while back though

Nogueira hasn´t ever been knocked out, has won more contenders than Randy and has lost less, in my opinion is better, and unquestionable #2. Maybe randy is been pushed for his last two fights, where i recognize he was amazing, specially against Gonzaga.
Fedor is #1, if Randy wants to face him, first time he must beat Nogueira, the real challenge for him, and the most logical thing, because he is still signed for UFC and is the current heavyweight champion and have to fight against the interim champion…NOGUEIRA.
Randy, stop clowning around and don´t try to hide your ass from your real challenge…MINOTAURO is waiting for
