UFC Fight Night 13 sold out; SpikeTV to feature six fights during three-hour broadcast

It's official: UFC Fight Night 13 has been extended to a three-hour SpikeTV broadcast and will feature six televised fights that begin at 7 p.m. ET in front of a sold-out Broomfield Events Center crowd in Broomfield, Colo., on April 2, according to UFC.com.
Here's a snip from UFC President Dana White:
"I knew that bringing the UFC back to the state of Colorado would be big. But thanks to our fight fans in Broomfield and Denver and all across Colorado, this is going to be one of our best UFC Fight Night events ever. Not only is it going to air as a three-hour special on Spike TV, it will also be a house packed with UFC fans ready for great fights."
It's the first time that a UFC event will be held in Colorado — the state in which the first-ever event for the promotion was staged — in more than15 years.
And it seems as if the UFC is making up for lost time, booking 12 spectacular fights for the Wednesday night special event that features the main event between top lightweights, Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon.
Here's how the entire card shakes up:
Main event:
155 lbs.: Kenny Florian (7-3) vs. Joe Lauzon (16-3)
Main card (televised):
170 lbs.: Karo Parisyan (18-4) vs. Thiago Alves (13-3)
205 lbs.: Matt Hamill (3-1) vs. Tim Boetsch (7-1)
155 lbs.: Nate Diaz (8-2) vs. Kurt Pellegrino (11-3)
155 lbs.: Frank Edgar (8-0) vs. Gray Maynard (4-0)
205 lbs.: Houston Alexander (8-2) vs. James Irvin (13-4)Under card (may not be broadcast):
155 lbs.: Spencer Fisher (20-4) vs. Marcus Aurelio (15-5)
155 lbs.: Din Thomas (20-7) vs. Josh Neer (23-6-1)
155 lbs.: Manny Gamburyan (7-2) vs. Jeff Cox (9-4)
155 lbs.: Clay Guida (22-9) vs. Samy Schiavo (10-4)
170 lbs.: George Sotiropoulos (8-2) vs. Roman Mitichyan (5-1)
170 lbs.: Tommy Speer (9-2) vs. Anthony Johnson (4-1)
UFC Fight Night 13 serves as the lead-in to The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7, which debuts at 10 p.m. ET on SpikeTV on the same night with light heavyweight coaches, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Forrest Griffin.
Remember that UFC Fight Night 13 tickets can likely still be purchased through StubHub.com (a ticket broker) even though this event is "sold out."

Man…you know it’s a great card when Clay Guida’s fight is the 4th fight listed on the under card!!

Great news!
I’m glad we’re definitely getting the televised fights that we are getting. Hopefully a couple of them end quick so we can get a couple of those awesome undercard fights on TV!

It’s because there aren’t any title fights on the fight night card. They have to allow for the possibility that every fight they guarantee will go to a decision, and with title fights that’s an extra two rounds. Assuming that some of the main card fights end early (and there are some quick fights on the undercard) we should get to see 1 or 2 of them.

What no love for those who got Spike to make this a three hour broadcast instead of two?

There’s no title fight, so all 6 are only 3 rounds each. They can squeeze in an extra fight when thy don’t have to work around a 5 round contest.

Good to see that Frankie Edgar is back on the main card. I couldn’t understand how a top-five lightweight managed to get himself on the undercard.

I hope Rumble Johnson kicks Tommy “Lil Hughes” Speer all the way to Utah. He’ll probably get humped for 15 minutes though.

they better make sure, nates locker room is on the other side of karos locker room,
I seriously doubt that they are still at odds with eachother though. Because there is nothing but respect between karo and nick so Im sure that trancended to nate.

I love the UFC lightweight division right now. So many great fighters and so many great fights. This should be a fantastic card.
Just think about the 155 lb. winners from the nights fights meeting up for a PPV a few months. Sweet!

this is the best fight night card I’ve ever seen. The best thing about it for dana is that none of them will make over $25000. I cant believe he gets away with that.

What a treat for loyal UFC fans this will be. Kinda strange that with a card this stacked, Florian vs. Lauzon is the main event though. I suppose they are just planting the ‘KenFlo vs Penn/Sherk winner’ seed though. At any rate, should be a great show.

Well I don’t see most (not all) of thm making better elsewhere so quit ragging on DANA. He gave a lot of these guys a chance to make names for themselves. Quit with the hating already.

I have been bashing UFC 78 validation for a long time. Netflix just sent me the DVD and I watched the whole event. I will tell u one thing….that event features some of the best untelevised fights I have ever seen take place in the UFC.
Tamdon McCrory vs. Akahiro Gono was a great match
Joe Lauzon had a very quick but exciting win over Reinhardt
Marcus Aurelio vs. Caudillo was awesome
Tiago Alves vs. Chris Lytle is a MUST see fight. That fight was on its way to being a fight of the year candidate until the idiot doctor prematurely stopped the fight for no reason.
UFC 78 Validation was a terrible pay per view, but the dvd is worth buying because of the spectacular undercard fights. Also Bisping did much better vs. Rashad then I gave him credit for.
Trust me…..WATCH those undercard fights! Also at some point in time the UFC has to give us Lytle vs. Alves II….throw it on a free UFN event because that fight was amazing!
I am going to have to agree with Rogan, forget Jardine, Alves has the most devestating leg kicks in all of mma!

Yo Mania,
I think you should have Mr.NC-17 put BJ PENN in the top friends list on myspace. I know he dislikes Penn, but common he’s a champion. I don’t mean to sound like a whiner, but it ain’t right.

How good of a fight is the Din Thomas – Josh Neer fight going to be ? I think that the UFC will air that fight considering the Houston Alexander / Jarmes Irvin fight will DEFINITLY end early. We all know Houston hits hard and Rampage has gone on record a few months back as saying Irvin is the hardest guy he has ever been hit by (training) at 205lbs.
Thomas was a top 5 lighweight before his loss to Florian and Neer was a tough bastard at 170, this should make fireworks.

I’m really looking forward to the clash of the wreslters in Frankie Edgar/Gray Manyard. I really hope Frankie can take it to him. I also hope the Houstan/Irvin fight lives up, don’t really care who wins that one.
And man, just as hard to call as Hendo/Silva is the Joe/Kenny fight, I have no idea, changed my mind back adn forth 100 times already.

Kevin Kelly: I agree. I have always been a fan of both Din and Neer. Din is ultra exciting and Neer is just a WARRIOR. I will never forget what Melvin was doing to him, and how he came back and won that fight.
I hope they find away to televise this fight. Houston/Irving will end quickly, but we all know Karo vs. Alves is going to a decision that ALVES WILL WIN!!!! Edgar vs. Maynard might take some time as well.

Yeah, trying to analyze the Lauzon vs. Florian fight will just drive you crazy. Too hard to call. Florian is the real deal, very skilled and poised, as for Joe, he is just a freakin ANIMAL….. Joe will be the underdog and I feel he is worth a wager on him!

VM: U have to see the undercard fights on UFC 78 validation….they were all amazing. We should have went to the event because the undercard was very worthy. As for Aurelio, he looked great against luke Claudillo (trains Rashad and that Camp). Not that Cluadillo is some big name fighter but at least Aurelio put on an exciting fight.
Akahiro Gono vs. Tamden McCrory was awesome, as was Joe Lauzon’s destruction of reinhardt!
Best undewrcard fight ever: Tiago Alves vs. Chris Lytle

John, I believe that they always televised all of the fights. I had only actually ordered a couple of the PPV’s and I know for sure that for PRIDE 33 they aired all of the fights. I LOVED it, there was none of the stupid BS inbetween fights. They had their opening ceremonies that gets you PUMPED up and then the fights start and its non stop action from there. Plus, you can never forget about the female announcer that announces the fighters as they come down to the ring, and then there was the master pimp of all of mma.

VM: Do u remember how long the Pride pay per view telecast lasted. The UFC has a 3 hour slot, I would guess PRIDE pay per views were longer. I ask because eventually I would love to see the UFC start airing the entire program but thats probably just wishful thinking.
As for the Aurelio fight, he unleashed a nasty ground n pound on Claudillo, that fight was stopped prematurely but at least Aurelio looked good for once in the UFC.

PRIDE 33 was less than 3 hours, I believe. It was fight after fight after fight. None of the BS that we get with the UFC. I mean seriously, how many clips of the black and white interviews are we going to see over and over again of Hendo and Silva during the PPV before the bell to the main event actually rings (I know there’s no bell, but there isn’t even a Big John to say “lets get it on”, so I didn’t know what to put)

So Pride managed to broadcast all the fights on the card in less then 3 hours? WOW…they UFC really needs to cutt out all the BS interview clips. Those black and white clips should be used as a marketing tool to get people to purchase the event. Why air them during the pay per view Broadcast, if you are watching the broadcast then you obvilusly already purchased it and probably have seen those clips endless amounts of time. I pay for the fights, not the clips, not Rogan….Just the fights
Not saying that PRIDE was better then the UFC, but the Since purchasing PRIDE the UFC could have used some of their production techniques and other things that made PRIDE succesfull. All they did by purchasing Pride was get about 25% of PRIDE fighters in the UFC.
The UFC should have combined the great aspects of Pride with the Great aspects of the UFC and created an even better product.
