Karo 'The Heat' Parisyan gets heated (Audio)

Props: PWBPodcastLive.com
Karo Parisyan talks about his upcoming fight with Thiago Alves at UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2, as well as statements that he is ducking Jon Fitch. The latter point is what really draws his ire.

From what he was saying, it sounds like Jon Fitch will get the next shot. I’ll willing to bet whoever gets the more impressive win will get the fight. If they both get decisions, they should have to fight for a number 1 contender.

This dude hasnt beat a top WW and he wants a title shot? Fitch would destroy Karo, no doubt. I’d like to see Diego pound beat his face in again. This guy is such a prick. I bet if him and Nate Diaz had got into it on that season of TUF, Diaz would have messed him up. Id love to see that fight at a catch weight or something.

It is a shame that such a talented fighter has such a shitty attitude..
Karo needs to finish fights. He needs to “fight to win” and not fight “not to lose” like he does…
Karo has, by far, the best Judo in the WW division. He needs to come back down to Earth, and fight Fitch….until then he will be known as Karo "the Duck……..

karo’s a tough dude and i do believe him when he says he doesnt duck anybody…i don’t think he’s been finished in any of his fights (saying that he hasnt exactly finished any of his recent fights). Its so hard in this sport to keep winning and Karo does it the ugly way (i don’t think his “gorgeous flamboyant judo throws” are that entertaining).
It doesnt really make sense the UFC matching Fitch and Karo with two guys who they are expected to beat…they should have booked karo vs fitch and sort out the number 1 contendership

IF HE WAS NEVER OFFERED THE FIGHT WITH FITCH HOW THEN IS HE DUCKING HIM,
The one thing that is holding Karo from being the best WW in the world is his conditioning, If he would only train to be the best he could be.

Yo man, on the real I ain’t no Fitch fan but its clear as stripper-heels that he’s putting Fitch off. I thought Fitch didn’t deserve the win against Diego but that’s a different story. The only road to the belt is through Fitch so he should get it over already.
by pUniSHment on Feb 24, 2008 10:21 PM EST reply actions
He should rematch against Diego, or beat Fitch or Kos, other than that, no title shot. Should go against Hughes. He had a shot against Hughes but he got hurt, oh well, lost your chance there. But the only fight Hughes has left is vs Serra after he loses to Rush. Diaz would’ve pounded him…Diaz ought to move up to WW just for that reason.

Why is Karo “candy ass crybaby / do you know what I can do to these punks ?” Parysian such a believer in him being the #1 contender I just don’t get it. Correct me if I am wrong but there are quite a few guys who are undoubtedly better overall. IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER …..
GSP
Jon Fitch
Diego Sanchez (obviously)
Matt Hughes
QUITE POSSIBLY THESE GUYS ARE BETTER …..
Josh Koscheck
Marcus Davis
All in all let’s call it like it is, the guy has NOT had one KO in the UFC, not a single one. The biggest name that Karo has beaten since he has been fighting in the UFC (2003) is Drew Fickett with Nick Diaz being a close second. He beat Matt Serra which we all means NOTHING.
WHY DOES KARO FEEL LIKE HE GETS THE SHORT END OF THE STICK ? He is a young punk who needs to beat some of the above mentioned first.

Fitch is the one who has not beat a top WW, hell besides Diego he has not even fought one. Karo resume is much more impressive. There is noway in hell Fitch would destroy Karo. Maybe he would win but at best he would eek out a decision at best. Sherk is the only person to finish Karo. Do you really think Fitch is going to come in and suddenly be the one man to destroy Karo- when a guy like GSP and Sherk the first time could only eek out decisions. Crazy Crazy Pipe Dreams…Do not be surprised if Karo come out with a win if they fight for feeling insulted….

Karo isn’t ducking Fitch you haters. Karo just knows that he deserves a title shot already so why fight Fitch when he can go for the title. Then if he wins then Fitch can challenge him. But it seems that the UFC has favorites, so they pick and choose who they want to see. Example Griffen lost to Jardine then beats Shogun and has a title shot, Couture got knocked out twice by Liddell and comes back for the heavyweight title shot, Penn loses twice at 170 drops to 155 beats pulver and was getting the title shot with Sherk before all the steriod shit happened. Welterweight contender Karo Parisyan has apparently earned a title shot in six or seven months if he wants to wait, according to a recent interview on PunchDrunkGamer.com.
“People are talking about that [a fight with Jon Fitch], I don’t know. The deal is I think I already have a title shot if I want to wait. If I wait I can get my title shot I guess in six or seven months from now, which is a long time away, and I don’t want to mess up my plans of getting my title shot. Now I would love to fight Jon Fitch, but if I fight him and god forbid something goes wrong and I lose that fight it puts me all the way back down again and I have to work back up for a title fight. So if I am guaranteed a title fight now, I’ll take the title fight or if I don’t want to wait such a long time I’ll take another opponent who I have a more “guaranteed’ win over. I still think I can beat Jon Fitch — Jon’s a very tough guy, but I think that if I am in shape that I can beat him eight out of 10 times. But at this point I don’t want to jeopardize anything leading up to my title fight, so we’ll see what the UFC will offer and what I will take.”
I am a big fan of Heat, however he clearly stated that he would duck the fight if he would be offered to go against Fitch.

I clearly remember karo saying at “mmainside” that he would prefer an easier fight than jon fitch to not ruin his chance of getting a title shot when this st.pierre-serra-hughes thing was settled.
He is probably afraid that the same thing that happened when he fought diego sanchez (that kicked him off the ladder..)
I don’t understand his desire of a title shot, I mean, you should aim to be the best fighter, not a one time champion just because they gave you a title shot.. if you are not the best sooner or later you are gonna lose anyway.

Karo need to worry about finishing people or at least looking dominant. And stop the bitching about the shot he screwed up by loosing to Deigo 3 years ago.

I am(was) a fan of Hermes aswell. But Hermes had WAY higher positive tests for steroids them Sherk..
I just dont look at a fighter the same if they have, or end up testing positive for steriod’s….ie. Josh Barnett is a great fighter and I am still a fan to watch him compete, but he has tested positive, and I will never forget that, and I will always look at him different..
Nontheless’
Just like Barnett, I like watching Hermes Franca fight and I agree with you John. If they let Sherk continue fighting they should let Franca fight aswell, even though Sherks tests were WAY lower then Franca’s, I still agree, because, I also like watching Franca fight…(but I just wont look at him the same..ever.

I like watching Karo fight. But the guy is a complete jerk! His mental attitude needs improvement or he will never be champ. I agree with whomever said that his conditioning is suspect. Also, he did duck Fitch. Rumors of this fight were long ago, and its too late for him to pretend that he was never offered the fight. Hopefully Alves knocks him on his ass on April 2nd.
As far as Hermes Franca goes, his suspension is for a year as opposed to six months. I think if he can get a couple wins outside of the UFC cage after the suspension he’ll be allowed back in the org.
And in conclusion, Nate vs Karo would be Nates funeral. Nate makes 155 eating a cheesburger on the scale. A catch weight?? What are you thinking??

There is no excuse the UFC can use to say that Karo doesn’t deserve a title shot. He’s one of the guys who can give any W.W. trouble so why not lets see how he matches up with Rush. How can he lose a title shot for being injured, when St. Pierre got injured before his second fight with Hughes and thats why Penn stepped in,(Hughes almost crushed his face) St. Pierre got the title shot after that, so why doesn’t Karo deserve one? Anyway I don’t think there’s a W.W. now that can stop George but it will still be a good fight to see. Then maybe after that fitch can challenge the winner so he can get out from under Dana’s desk.

4. karo is good, but cant pick apart any ww like someone said earlier. He got beat by dirty sanchez.

why do you all talk so much shit? Karo is cocky and confident just like 98% of all fighters ranked in the top 10. Fitch vs karo would be a badass fight, just like pairing either with GSP or hughes. I attended a seminar w/ Karo at the Cohens Judo club last summer and Karo told me the ufc was talking about fitch as his next opponent. However Fitch fought deigo next so what happened I dont know. whoever said nate could beat karo is an idiot. no doubt nate is good but karo is in another league. Also that crap about manny being out of condition and thats what led to the shoulder injury is just that, crap! Ever watch a judo match? During many throws the person doing the throw will drive his shoulder into his opponent to amplify the force of impact so Im sure its not the first time hes hurt his shoulder. If the ufc gave me the option of fighting the champ or a game opponent whos not the champ Id choose the champ any day. Reason being the payday and fame are going to be much much higher. So think before you open your big mouths, cause you know you’d take the money and the belt over fighting jon fitch any day.

Karo can be an ass sometimes but he is definately one of the best fighters in the division and one of the more exciting to watch. He said he would rather not fight Fitch as Fitch could blow his chance of a title shot which is a fair point, that doesn’t mean that he is ducking him. The UFC threw Diego at him when Karo came back fron injury and should have got his title shot, he didn’t back out of that fight and I am sure that he would not back out of a fight with Fitch. I definately believe that Karo is more than capable of beating Hughes, Hughes is stronger but I just belive Karo is more technical and has more ways to win. I would love to see Karo fight GSP again I believe GSP said he was the first to take him the distance at the time was the hardest fight he ever had. They have both vastly improved and the match would be a really exciting one. Karo having one of the hardest jaws in the division would not get knocked out as easily as Hughes did. Fitch dominated Diego but did not have him in any serious trouble, and Diego was able to contatntly go for submissions. Karo in the same situation is more than capable of pulling it off, but he even he admits it would be far from easy. His next fight is definately a lot tougher than Fitch’s.

Who gets awarded the next title shot probably has to do a lot with Fitch and Karo’s performances in their next fights. fitch has a shot of finishing Wilson, while Karo has absolutly no chance of finishing Alves. Karo might win, but make no mistake about it…it will go to the judges.
Personally I think Fitch gets the next shot. Karo has already faced both GSP and Serra while fitch hasn’t faced either.
Either way, unless one of them get upset, they will probably be the next 2 contendewrs to the welterweight title.
I would bet my car, that the Karo vs. Alves fight goes to a decision. I normally dont have much of a problem with exciting decision wins, but in this case it pisses me off because that fight going to a decision takes away precious air time from one of the best UFN in the history of the UFC. I want to see as many undercard matches as possible and the Karo vs. Alves fight will take up too much air time, causing us to miss great undercard matches.
Someone write a letter to spike and tell them to start releasing UFN events on DVD.

Karo was promised Hughes when there was no one other in the division besides GSP and Sherk(who at the time were scheduled to face each other same night) that were legitimate contenders. Karo got the sh*tty end of the stick when he fought Diego, but honestly him or Fitch both need one more fight in my mind against a top 5 opponent. Fitch has a good streak but his only notable win in the last almost two years was his most recent against Sanchez and I don’t care what anybody says, beating Diego coming back from a loss to Koscheck would be almost desperate if it resulted in a title shot. Fitch and Karo should be fighting each other on whatever night instead of what is about to transpire. I think Karo if Karo was willing to take a chance with Alves, he should’ve taken the risk against Fitch, if he loses to Fitch, he’s still ranked Top5 or pretty damn close, but he Alves takes him out, he could very well take Karo’s spot in ranking as Alves has got to be rated somewhere around 11,10,9.
We’ll see what happens.

Also it would look really bad for karo loosing to Alves especially since Fitch already beat Alves.

That was the WORST ranking system I have ever read.
I second that.

At least he’s entertaining. lol
My thoughts exactly. In this world of “gentlemen” fighters, it is good to see the occasional “bad” attitude. It makes things more interesting.

Fitch finished Alves via TKO (Strikes) Let’s see how Karo handles him. Fitch DESTROYED Burkman…..Karo won a decision. I think that’s their only 2 common opponents, for what it’s worth.

Where to start with this one! First of all, Karo lost to Diego…that’s why he doesn’t deserve a shot. Fitch beat Diego by the way, in case you missed it!
If Fitch was Dana’s boy, it wouldn’t take 8-0 or 9-0 in the UFC to get a title shot. Most of the top WWs have ducked Fitch for the past 2 years! He’s tried to get bigger fights, but the UFC hasn’t forced anyone, including your girlfriend Karo, to fight him.
If he was under Dana’s desk, he’d get the fights he’s been asking for.

LOL!!
since nate diaz can’t step in the ring with parisyan, i’d like to see nick diaz step in the ring with him again. i’m pretty sure he would kick parisyan’s ass. BTW, i was looking at parisyan’s record and how he has won, this bitch has only 1 win that is not by decision. so this guy does not finish his opponents, and you karo nut huggers say he’s the best or number 1 contender. how can he be in line for a title shot over fitch? i just hope he gets his ass knocked out in the first and see the rest of his career crumble right after.

With a name like TonyDrip maybe it bothers you that Fitch is under Dana’s desk and not you. Look the reason I said that is because Dana said himself that Fitch was the future of the division. There’s no doubt in my mind that Fitch is one of the top contenders right now but his thirteen fight win streak is not all in the UFC as to were Karo has been in the UFC since 2003. Its only my opinion that Karo is way past do for a title shot so don’t get your panies in a bunch. And everybody talks about Fitch beating Diego were he just did enough to win, were as Karo threw Diego around a few times. And if what you say is how it should be then why is Forrest fighting for a title shot when Jardine beat him. Why is Henderson fighting for a title shot when he lost to Rampage. So say what you want but I’ll say it again (In my opinion) Karo has done enough in his career to get a shot before Fitch.

Fitch’s 14 fight win streak isn’t in the UFC, but his last 7 are. Fitch called out Karo after he beat Luigi on the March card in Columbus last year. Karo decided to fight Burkman instead – someone Fitch already beat up and finished. Fitch calls him out again and he decides to fight Thiago Alves instead – someone Fitch beat up and finished via TKO. Say what you want, but Karo could be fighting Fitch on 3/1 for the title shot. He decided to fight guys Fitch already beat instead. Karo lost to Diego…Fitch manhandled Diego. Fitch deserves the shot before Karo….simple as that.
My point is that you say Fitch is under Dana’s desk. We all know that Dana has his boys….Liddell, Hughes, Sherk, etc. Fitch doesn’t fall in that category. He’s had to scratch and claw his way to the top….nothing was handed to him!
