Backyard brawl: Joe Lauzon vs. Dan Lauzon and other 'J-Lau' fight highlights (Video)

Brothers Joe and Dan Lauzon go at it throughout this highlight reel, beginning at about the five minute mark. Frank and Ken Shamrock take note:

Joe will battle Kenny Florian during the main event at UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2 at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colo. Dan is coming off a recent submission win over Frank Latina in a World Championship Fighting (WCF) show and there's talk that the one-time UFC veteran might soon sign a contract to fight in the Zuffa-owned World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) promotion.

Very impressive grappling… Joe is a force at 155, does anyone know if his brother is training with him under BJ Penn?

by Oskarbravo on Feb 18, 2008 1:09 PM EST reply actions

No he is currently not training with them in Hilo. He still trains in Mass

Looking forward to the fight, good highlights. All the more impressive given that he worked full time until recently. However, can we PLEASE find him something better than “J-Lau”

It is pitiful. Any ideas?

Damn, Joe just manhandled some of those bigger guys!

Like this kid. I think he’ll submit Ken Flo.

How about “Be Firt” Joe Lauzon?

Yo whats the song in the backround of that video? Crystal Method? What?

by DJ Pullout on Feb 18, 2008 2:13 PM EST reply actions

he has great hands as well, i dont see kenny having the edge here only in the kicks i guess, but Lauzon has the edge in the hands, strenght, wrestling, and BJJ ( and if youll argue the BJJ, the dudes been training fulltime with BJ).

your forgetting that hes fighting kenny “i finish fights” florian

no actually i gotta take kenny his muay thai is dirty, and i know joes been training full time with bj but that doesnt give you bjs flexibility..gotta take kenny in the bjj too
im thinking kenflo with a triangle 2nd round maybe

Joe and Kenny might be fighting in Colorado, but this is “The Battle For Boston”!!!!!! I still give it to Kenny, unless it goes the distance. I think Kenny, tapout in the 2nd.

Im go with Joe by leglock in the 1st.

I say Joe has this fight. Kenny is good and all, but I think Joe will catch him. Plus, Kenny annoyed the hell out of me with his whole “I finish fights” nickname. You can’t start saying you finish fights right after you just lost to Sherk.

yes he can! when is the last time you seen sherk end a fight? sherk talks carp. he thinks he is better then he is. i bet he couldn’t even finsh me in a fight and i would be willing 2 try. sherk is a takedown, lay down fighter and I REALLY REALLY REALLY HATE WATCHING HIM FIGHT! GO PENN KICK HIS *SS & SHUT HIM THE HELL UP ALREADY!

i’m sorry but you are not going to catch ken-flo in a leg lock. come on kenny is a black belt in BJJ.

i love j lau…hes probably my favorite fighter in the world, i think his potential is crazy and futures extremely promising.

I agree that Joe is a very skilled and tough young fighter, but beating Kenny Florian at 155 is no easy Task. Kenny “the nerd” Florian vs. Loe-lau is going to be a great fight, I know Joe has been training with BJ but the only way he will submit Florian is if he beats him up first. Kenny is a ju jitsu veteran submitting him is no easy task, and it will be tough for anyone to beat him unless they beat him up 1st.

I am very curious to see what the betting odds for this fight will be. If Lauzon is a nice enough underdog, I will be forced to throw money on him. The kid is tough as nails, he isnt affected by the “Big Stage” and he trains with the best Lightweight and one of the greatest pound 4 pound fighters in BJ Penn.

Should make for a great fight. I could see either fighter finishing the fight or I can see a 3 round war…I am verry much looking forward to this one.

This whole event is great. I am looking forward to boetsh vs. Hamil because Hamil as a ton of holes to take advantage of. If Boetsh does his homework he can win this fight. Can anyone tell me what camp Boetsh trains at?

Too bad for us that the Karo vs Alves fight will go to a decision for sure which will take up a lot of TV time and keep us from seeing those wonderful undercard matches that aren’t scheduled to be televised.

Alexander vs. Irving wont make it to the 2nd round so hopefully that will free up some TV time.

does anyone really know anything about Boetsch? the guy is a complete unknown that came in on short notice to lose, didn’t seem to have any cage jitters and put on (IMO) the most entertaining fight of the night.

joe lauzon is the shit… he doesnt muck around when he gets in the octagon, jens pulver discribed him best when he said “this kid comes like a tornado” (or something to that effect) nor does he need to tell everyone “i finish fights” hahahaha

I just thought it was really chessy of Kenny to talk that I finish fights crap after Din Thomas knee buckled as if he caused it. Completely innapropriate, classless and it made no sense at the time.

Actually Joe Lauzon mentioned the same thing I just wrote in a recent interview. I like Kenny but I would like to see Joe MAUL him!

Do you wish to change your statement. Kenny mounted Joe like he was a blowup doll.
