Patrick Cote (12-4) is penciled in to take on Alan Belcher (12-4) in a middleweight scrap at UFC 83: "Serra vs. St. Pierre II" on April 19 from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, according to MMAWeekly.com.
This latest news -- albeit unofficial -- rounds out the 10-fight Canadian-riddled card. In fact, "The Predator" is one of eight combatants slated to compete that evening with roots north of the United States border.
Cote is on a three-fight win streak inside the Octagon after dropping his first four matches. He has stopped Kendall Grove and Drew McFedries each in the first round his last two times out and has looked impressive while doing it.
He's finally got confidence to go along with a solid skill set ... Belcher is another nice test to see where he is at in the 185-pound division.
"The Talent" was booked to take on Ricardo Almeida at UFC 81: "Breaking Point" just two weeks ago; however, he had to withdraw just days before the event because of a severe bronchitis infection.
He, too, has a nice streak to uphold, winning his last two bouts against Kalib Starnes and Sean Salmon.
With a win, either fighter will more than likely be poised for a bigger match later in the year against a top contender in the division. The other will drop to 12-5 and have to get back to the drawing board.
The rematch between UFC Welterweight Champion, Matt Serra, and 170-pound interim titleholder, Georges St. Pierre, will headline the pay-per-view (PPV) event. To check out the rest of the UFC 83 fight card click here.
