How can anyone not like this guy?! GSP is the man and I can’t wait to see him get his belt back from Serra.

well, GSP got what he wanted..to fight in his home city. now it is time to preform. as long as he does not over train and dehydrate himself…this should be a no problem. Serra once again has a punchers chance…GSP owns the ground and most of stand up (ask hughes).
as a canadian, you gotta love the accent:
" tanks tu ell da bans ".

GSP is the man, but I think Jon Fitch could potentially pose a problem for him as well.

Frank Mir and Tim Sylvia possible coaches on next The Ultimate Fighter!
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/…5636&zoneid=13
Frank Mir said he wanted to set up hype behind a next possible fight against Tim Sylvia by being coaches on the next The Ultimate Fighter season after Griffin and Rampage.
Frank is very comedic and we haven’t had a heavyweight ultimate fighter series in a while.

I was wondering about that. In the radio piece from Mir where he was talking about seeing flashes of white I did hear him say something about possibly being a coach.

Timmay as coach would either put me to sleep or have me laughing out loud at him the entire time. He sure can use the fans. But Mir is such a cool dude that I can already see the majority of viewers rooting for Team Mir. It is going to require nothing short of a miracle for Timmay to win over the UFC fans.

This is a VERY GOOD idea DANA!!
No holding up Champions a show..I like this idea already.
The Rampage/Forrest show will be hilarious, but I wish they did it sooner. I hate waiting half a year for a title match because of a TV show..
That being said’
I cant wait for the show and the fight…

GSP is the man, but I think Jon Fitch could potentially pose a problem for him as well.
Fitch is definetly #1 contender, and I am a huge fan, But. If and(most likely) when Fitch and GSP fight for the belt, I got my money on GSP…
Fitch is a great fighter and definetly deserves to be one of the few WW fighters that could potentially pose a problem(imo)
to GSP.
there is about 3 I can think of now….being;(in order)UFC fighters.
#1-BJ Penn
#2-John Fitch
#3-Matt Serra
Not UFC fighters
#1-Gomi
#2-Nick Diaz
#3-Jake Sheilds

UGH – I don’t even think TUF could hype this fight. Mir was on his way out until he grabbed that leg lock last week-end. This shows how desperate Dana is for heavyweight contendors. Guys like Fedor, Randy, Josh Barnett and soon to be AA are walking away from the UFC, so Dana has no choice but to hype a fight like this.

looks like the ufc has made some bad business moves lately
According to the Wrestling Observer, Pride FC Worldwide Holdings a company set up by the Fertittas to handle the sales of PRIDE, has filed suit against Dream Stage Entertainment, Dream Stage Holdings and their president Nobuyuki Sakakibara for defrauding them out of million of dollars over the purchase of PRIDE FC.
It is rumored that DSE did not have the copyright to a lot of footage of some of the major PRIDE events (Fuji TV produced may of the big shows in PRIDE).
Sherdog is also reporting that DSE president Nobyuki Sakakibara plans to sue the Fertittas over the firings of employees and closing up shop soon after the purchase.

Yeh i still don’t understand that… i know he has had one or two boring fights, but i thought he looked pretty good against NOG.. I think Tim is ok man, but i have probably missed something…as the saying goes.. “That many people can’t be wrong” :)
But like Rogan keeps pushing… He has only lost to the best calivre of fighters so i think he deserves a break… No MIR, I’m not talking to you :) (That was sick) Glad MIR is back to go off subject

I’ve got to question this recent thing of the jon fitch hype. I don’t doubt that jon fitch could give gsp a run for his money, but it seems he’s being hyped quite a bit lately. From his recent fights you can see he has great bjj defense, decent striking, and very good wrestling. I think GSP’s striking is better. GSP has killed the last few dominant wrestlers he’s faced, and BJJ is probably equal between the two.
GSP vs Fitch is still a fight i’d want to see, but I’m not completely sold on the idea that fitch can beat gsp.

The video sucks. I made it about 20 seconds in before I shut it down due to all the damn stops to buffer.

will be a great fight, very one sided I imagaine but a fight the fans need to see. Serra is a going to lose come april 19 and gsp will have the gold were it belongs.

Serra is a good fighter but was given way too much credit for his KO against GSP in their first bout. GSP showed his true skills by just straight up dominating Matt Hughes like no one has ever done before. I’m sorry, but Serra’s only chance to win here is another lucky KO punch and its a small chance at best. It aint gonna happen any other way.

I think the two would face a stale mate. I dont see either one of them being too aggressive or completely dominating the other. Both are very complete athletes.

I also love how he considers the move up to middleweight pending the outcome of a few things. But I really think that when Silva beats Hendo and then beats someone perhaps Okami and then if Marquadt wins another and gets the his second shot at the title (Marquadt being one of GSPs training partners that he would not want to title block) and likewise GSP handles business against Fitch and Karo THEN in early 09 a fight between GSP and Anderson could go down. How sick would that be?!

I get what u r saying but the reality is before the Nogueira fight, the last time Tim actually fought TO WIN, was in the 2nd fight vs. Arlovski.

I am a Huge GSP fan, but I dont want to hear him run his mouth about move up or down in divisions until he successfully defends his title a couple of times (which he has yet to do). He needs to focus on Serra…He looked past Serra before and got KTFO….I hope he learned his lesson.

When I watched Serra win the title live my first reaction, other than WTF, was that he won on a total fluke. After watching the fight 2 or 3 times afterwards I saw that it wasn’t entirely a fluke as Serra surprised GSP by standing up with him and not using his bread and butter which is what was expected. I never knew Serra could box and I bet GSP didn’t either because he would have trained for it and not focus primarily on the ground. What do you do when everyone seems to know your plan? You do the complete opposite and upset them. I never really liked Serra and I still don’t but I will always give credit where it’s due. As for my prediction, GSP by majority decision.

Serra did the same exact thing to Karo a few years back, the only difference is Karo was able to weather the storm and regain his composure and go on to win a decision. Also, Serra has heavy hands and trains with 1 of the best striking coaches in t he world…Ray Longo… This doesnt mean that I wasn’t shocked at what Serra did to GSP…cuz I was…Serra doesnt let his hnds Fly enough…he did in that fight and it worked wonders for him.
With that said, I still expect a focused GSP to pick him apart. Serra KO GSP, and I know GSP is looking to return the faor, keep the fight standing and KO Serra. I garentee GSP KO Serra. This is coming from a big Serra fan, I am not some serra hater.
Thenb Serra will move on to submit Matt Hughes and Fitch vs. GSP will have to Go down!

I completely agree. In previous fights, he would be defensive in the stand-up. But I think letting his hands go would mean more victories for him. Sure, he might also get caught once in a while, but what’s the big difference between a KO loss and a decision loss? Serra is very good from his back, and has never been stopped there, but we know that it’s very hard to score points off your back, even if you’re attempting multiple subs. The only way to win off your back is to actually tap a guy out. I believe Serra’s BJJ would make him very dangerous on top, but he doesn’t have the wrestling to take most guys down. His best chance of getting on top is to throw punches in the stand-up.

the difference between a KO and a decision is that the UFC will use That KO to make some other fighter look good…or to jsut down right humilate u, look at Gonzaga and Cro cop, ive seen that K.O on spike like 100 times.
GSP is going to dominate Serra, i cant deal with another upset , the superbowl was enugh

i just hope that the home crowd doesnt affect georges anyway. Cause having the pressure of the home crowd to win can sometimes affect a fighter.. look what happened with rich franklin, gurgel, mike swick vs. okami

Serra is gonna make it more of a fight than most imagine it. This is definently where Penn should be paying attention, as him and Serra are very similar of the same thing, Penn is just the better version, and I will be looking for good Penn/GSP arguments after this fight haha.
Fitch is good and I like the guy, but he is not techniqual enough for GSP, it would be a battle of strength, and GSP would win that one.
by The Anomaly on Feb 8, 2008 1:46 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
My opinion comes from an athlete not a fan. I watched Fitch in his last fight and wonder how anyone can see what he has to offer GSP. His striking’ground work and defense is no where near GSP’s . Fitch needs a lot more experience to compete with a fighter like GSP’Hughes or Serra. More quality opponents and fights should be his plan and then maybe a title fight in the future.
