For whats supposed to be known as the “lesser” weight class, there sure are a lot of middleweights on one card. lol

Eastman got up in Martin’s face and Martin pushed him away … some fireworks already!

I can’t believe the UFC is allowing Emerson to fight after he got arrested for mobbing that guy in Cali. He’s a punk.

Alright quick thoughts on the weigh ins

Mir gave Brock all the respect in the world and brock just said lets get it on hope Mir Breaks his arm like he did Timmay

Eastman looks like a beastman at 185 and after that push hope he wrestles martin down ground n pound out the win martin is way to hyped he ain’t nothing on the ground

Horn definitely showed that he took this fight on short notice did not look in shape at all I know he’s got 109 fights but don’t know if that will be enough I hope he wins though

Timmay really boy you don’t have to suck it in that much we know your flabby son hope you get stomped

Griffin will destroy Tiebeau can’t wait for that Glieson didn’t even look in his eyes

Lytle looked ripped don’t know much about bradley though

Boetsch looked in good shape think he beats heath honestly

I’m with PuniSHment why is Emerson being allowed to fight?

Well Tommorow we’ll find out

He supposedly did that years ago. Stupid thing to do, but nothing to ruin his life over.

A better question would be, why are they bringing him back, cause he’s not a very good fighter. I think they’re just getting Nakamura’s feet wet at 155 with a gimme fight.

Oh I didn’t know that happend years ago. I thought it happend recently. It’s shouldn’t be something that should ruin his life, but I have no respect for him.

It was in September last year and Emerson is a twat.

It shouldn’t ruin his life neither should it ruin UFC’s reputation therefore, the guy shouldn’t get a sniff at UFC.

I posted before about how DANA tries to give fighters a hard time for providing Joe public an excuse to perceive MMA fighters in a bad light.

Getting arrested for being in a group of twats, beating up kids sure sounds like a bad image for a UFC representative.

Plus Emerson is a pretty poor MMA fighter

Okay, if I really had to pick then I’d go with Tim and Frank. (I like cheering for the underdogs) Thoughts?

by RobH86 on Feb 1, 2008 8:10 PM EST reply actions

Mir looked to be in great shape. He came across as very confident. Tim appears to be developing a personality.

This year I am keeping track of my picks, to see how I do for 2008’…I am only making predictions on the five fights on the main cards(not undercards)..And not Ultimate Fight Nights..Just Main UFC ppv’s…
So far this year I am 3=right and 2=wrong(UFC/80)…my picks I got wrong were Gonzaga and Kendall..

My picks so far for 81 are(only 3 so far)
Nog/Sylvia…..I like Nog in this one.
Mir/Lesnar…..I got Mir with the win, and I disagree in thinking Mir is “the underdog”..Lesnar is the underdog.
Marquart/Horn….I got Horn winning in his UFC return..

by Stagger-Lee on Feb 1, 2008 8:47 PM EST reply actions

Anyone know where I can see some footage of the weigh ins? I’m dying to see how Lesner looked up against Mir. I predict a flash knockdown by Mir followed by a arm bar submission. Anyone agree?

by Ryan Cole on Feb 1, 2008 9:09 PM EST reply actions

minotaur….like the half bull half man…..
Why are there so many people saying tim is gonna knock minotauro out? he couldn’t KO arlovski, monson, randy, or vera in last 4 and big nog has lasted the whole fight twice with fedor, and is just plain tough….maybe a decision win for tim, but if the fight ends early, its cause he tapped or snapped.

by Amos on Feb 1, 2008 9:12 PM EST reply actions

Nog – all the way with Fedor, took CC’s brutal beating before armbaring him, and Heath Herring’s lucky dead on kick didnt even finish him. I am convinced, NOBDOY will knock out Big Nog, ever, and ESPECIALLY not Tim Sylvia.

I don’t know a lot about Lesnar so maybe someone can answer this; does he have to cut to get to 265 or is he normally at 265. ‘Cause that’s pretty big…..Like holy crap big.

He has to cut 15-20 pounds, but he says it comes off naturally once he starts training heavily. He says he only sweats it out and doesnt even change his diet. He eats fast food and lots of it.

Is it me or did Mir come in much heavier than usual? I remember him fighting around 240 or so in his previous fights. I think if he did decide to add weight b/c of Brock’s size it might have been an error b/c I assumed conditioning would have been one of his advantages and the weight gain isnt conducive to good conditioning.

He actually weighed the exact same at UFC 74. I thought it seemed heavy, too. But apparently not.

by MMAmania on Feb 1, 2008 11:18 PM EST reply actions

Lesnar win?

This guy has no MMA fight experience.

Does anyone seriously think he has the ability to even counter a skilled fighter with great BJJ skills let alone a former champ that is known for being lightweight quick and a skillful BJJ practitioner?

Mir can transition from one fight style to the next naturally while Lesnar will revert to what he knows…wrestling. All Mire needs is one weakness exposed and BAM!

No doubt Lesnar could be a dominate force. This will take time though.

Mir will submit Lesnar by the second round.

by PooCocktail on Feb 1, 2008 11:29 PM EST reply actions

I actually believe that Lesnar will pull it off.

by Metalhead on Feb 1, 2008 11:47 PM EST reply actions

My prediction -

I think Lesnar will have a ground and pound game plan that will not work against Mir’s good guard and ground defense. Lesnar will eventually get frustrated, make a mistake, and then get submitted.

Its good to see Tim Sylvia get some cheers. The guy’s fought the top competition the UFC hands to him and hasn’t backed down. He’s even had balls enough to call out fighters like Vera, Kongo, Fedor. Although his fights may not be the most stylistic to watch, I think his game attitude is winning over some fans.

Is Brock married to Sable?

Yes, they argue who has the biggest tits. I hope the “Gerber Gorilla” dominatates Mir.

by MyQuit on Feb 2, 2008 12:40 PM EST reply actions

Mir got his a?? handed to him and what was with the time out…I thought we were past that. Brock was in the process of whipping his a??. Give it to Mir for securing the ankle/knee lock. I think the UFC had better watch out cause Brock will be seen again and I think better than this first showing.
