All Access: Brock Lesnar on SpikeTV special prior to UFC 81

brock lesnarThe closed book that is Brock Lesnar as a mixed martial artist will be revealed this weekend at UFC 81: "Breaking Point" on Saturday, February 2 at 10 p.m. on pay-per-view (PPV).

To add to the intrigue — Lesnar is a monstrous former NCAA Division I wrestling champion, professional WWE wrestling superstar, and NFL dropout — "UFC All Access" will profile the fighter prior to his Octagon debut against Frank Mir.

Here's the snip from UFC.com:

"Go behind the scenes to see how the former WWE star Brock Lesnar gets ready for a real battle against Frank Mir in his first fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship®."

The episode, which of course will be hosted by the lovely Rachelle Leah, will premiere this Thursday, January 31, at midnight. It will re-air on Saturday, February 2 at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET, respectively.

We all know his wrestling is off the charts. But it'll be real interesting to see how his jiu-jitsu, striking and overall conditioning is coming together with the help of Greg Nelson at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy (the same camp that put Sean Sherk through that hellish cardio circuit).

Tune in to see what all the buzz is about. And remember to hit us up on fight night for all the latest LIVE UFC 81 results and coverage.

My Guess is Brock will avoid submissions, it will be almost a lay n’ pray fight… brock by decision

Midnight?? That’s past my bedtime. Let’s see them put on a UFN starting at midnight, and see how the ratings are then. I’d rather stay up and watch Girls Gone Wild promos.

I guarantee you, that if this fight goes past the 1st round, it will turn into a Tim Sylvia match. A boring clinch game because the both will be so gassed.

The question is which Frank Mir will show up? Is he back to his old form?

Will wrestling fans really buy this PPV to see their steroid boy hype machine? You would think it is the only fight on the card. The UFC has sunk to a new low with this behavior. Do they really need the money that bad? Apparently.

Bet?

Already got one on this fight. But sure. whats the wager?

I think a lot of people are going to be surprised, on UFC All Access and on Saturday night as well, with how quick Brock Lesnar is. He apparently, when trying out for the Minisota Vikings, ran the 40 Yard Dash in 4.75 when he was at 300 lbs. I am not sure if that is legit time but if so, that is as fast as Jerry Rice ran it in when he was at the NFL combine after college. This is not just some WWE prick with no actual background of any sort as you may or not have heard. He has the same background as Matt Hughes or Josh Koscheck had when they started, seems to me they have done alright for themselves. This is also a guy who has been highly regarded by Pat Militech and Royce Gracie.

Really I would love to see Mir win though, I am a huge fan of Mir but this fight I, like a few others, can not predict the outcome. This fight really could go either way IMO. I am sure though that it will be a very good fight where we either see the emmergance of a new star of MMA or the rebirth of a Champion.

If you know anything about this sport you will apologise right now for that stupid statement for three reasons

1. Brock is a NCAA division I champ
 2. If brock is on steroids then so must the natural, rampage and tito cos they all have muscular bodys
3. Ufc wants a collection of the best fighters from all other form of combat

I hope Brock turns into a stud. I’m not holding my breath, but the HWs need stud fighter. Maybe Nogueira, but I think he’s going to go by the way of Cro Cop. I’m sceptical about Nogueira doing much in the UFC. Hopefully I’m wrong.

Every other division, in the UFC, has a stud. BJ, GSP, A. Silva and Rampage. Randy was the only heavyweight worth puchasing a PPV to watch.

All of you will be left with your mouths open, all this crap about which Mir will show up and Mir 1st round submission will be dissolved. Brock Lesnar is far FAR too strong!, he is as fast as a lightweight, and dumbf*ck Mir will not win. I hope Mir gets him in a triangle choke so he goes for a Ricardo Arona type of trip!!

Lesnar has been out of the wrestling spotlight for a few years now so I don’t think they are trying to pull a publicity stunt and trying to grab WWE fans. It’s just the only real footage that there is of him.

dont agree with people saying here dat brock will power out of submissions, or he’s too strong to get caught! is everyone here new to mma, or does anyone remember gracie winning 1st ufc?? gracie at the time looked like a regular joe, when he faced shamrock, shamrock had the same strenght advantage as lesnar does with mir, shamrock tapped in dat fight, mir will break brocks arm if he gets it! anyone c fight science last nite, so much easier to understand the intensity of submissions after the tests last nite, strenght does not matter if u get caught!!!

I also remember that Gracie guy you speak of, hiding under his gee like a little turd, ok the gee helped that scrowny punk, proof? look up UFC 60 and see what happened to him. Brock’s arms are the biggest of any HW, they are like logs, makes Mir’s arms look like pencils. Just watch

I think the UFC is banking to much on Lesnar, and Mir is going to prove them wrong, I think he experience is gong to be key on this fight, lesnar has only fought once in MMA. Mir is going to show all his skills, hopefully the old Mir is back in the octagon.

by Diego on Jan 28, 2008 4:42 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

come on Raze look at what fedor did with that giant, and i know his backgroung for fighting was shite but he must fairly strong – yes? as for gracie, i meant he caught fighters who were not experienced in submissions, just like the advantage mir has over lesnar, and i kno wrestlers cut alot of weight but lesnar will come into dis at 265, mir at 250, this size of arms talk has nothing to do with mma, absoutley nothing! not taking anything away from lesnar, he is strong and a great wrestler and has a great chance, but power will not beat skill!!!

the difference is that back when gracie fought nobody really knew what BJJ was, so they dind’t think to prepare for it. now BJJ is just a big of MMA as wrestling is. everyone trains at least in the basics of BJJ and how to avoid them. back then guys weren’t even doing that much.

OMG, here we go again with the Brock Lesna pwns everyone on the planet fanboys. I will give you three reasons Brock Lesnar is a loser.

1. He looks like he is trying to titfuck a dirty dildo with his shirt off.

2. Sure he can benchpress 50,000 pounds and he can run the mile in .0025 seconds but just look at the tattoo on his chest.

3. His tattoo. On his chest. Ugly. Game over.

The only thing he is going to do is talk a lot of crap. Maybe pick up a chair and smack it over Mir’s head when Herb Dean is not looking. He might even clothesline somebody. But he won’t ever be dominant and his hype is going to fizzle out when his Ls start piling up.

yeah, he barely got through Werdum in a sleeper of a fight. he isn’t any better than silvia in that regard. granted i doubt Arlofski is going anywhere. they point blank asked him if he was leaving the UFC on Inside MMA and the way he talked, if dana offers him any sort of contract he is more than happy to stay with the UFC and he doesn’t honestly care who he fights, he’s just glad to get any fight.

by kitsunex on Jan 28, 2008 5:18 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I like frank mir, bu he will never be the best HW, so I like to think at brock as the next big thing, and I’ve loved him since the WWE years ..

Brock has been training in Sherks camp….GREAT! another dry humping lay n pray fighter. He better show me something, or I will be so pissed that Dana charged me $45 and sold him to me as a co-main event.

Mr NC-17: I could see it your way, being that Mir gasses a lot and Brock is in his 2nd fight….They could both gas and it will look like the BLOWN up version of Florian vs. Sherk, minus the action and the blood…..God help the heavyweight division!

Bet?

Hey Pete, How are you going to go with Lesnar and then all of a sudden go with Mir 1st round submission? What I am referring to is;

Mir, TKO standing, or knock down and then submission.

by DownUnder on Jan 28, 2008 7:35 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

It will be a real scrap. Lesnar will chase him down.
Mir will back away and then try and trade and end up getting drove into the cage. Then from there on it will be Mir getting pounded from the bottom while Brock swings for the fences…

It will last 1/2 way through the first round I cant see Lesnar breaking stride and will just keep coming.

I imagine Brock will get the loser of Tim and Nog. Giving the excuse he just beat a past champ so lets let him run. They will make it easy for him to climb the ladder to the belt. And then from there give him reasonable fights but nothing he cant handle. Then once Fedor fights Randy and one of them wins the UFC will pay up to get the big a$$ fight.

Me too. It’d be great if he became champion in a couple of years time. This is a guy who’s drawn shitloads of money in pro wrestling. Think of what he can draw if he’s winning real fights left right and center.

If he fights as good as he runs his mounth i actually be looking forward to watching the HW division. Tim, nog, even kongo good fighters. but are kinda on the lackluster side of things. COME ON BROCK RIP HIS F ING HEAD OFF

I hope your not serious…

If you think the ONLY reason that Lesnar is in trouble in this fight is because of a tat… You need help. Please just watch all access, watch the fight …please…. Im not saying he is going to DESTROY mir with his AWSOME POWER, but he is strong and its going to be very difficult for mir to get him in any kind of submission.

Brock Lesnar is a legitimate MMA fighter. I do not believe that the UFC “sunk to a new low” bringing him in. Will he defeat Frank Mir? I believe so, but the fight could go either way. Posters that think either guy will be dominated are not objective fans.
