UFC Fight Night 13: Din Thomas vs. Josh Neer

Din Thomas Josh Neer UFC Fight Night 13
Din Thomas (20-7) will most likely return from a knee injury to face Josh Neer (23-6-1) at UFC Fight Night 13 at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colorado, on April 2, according to MMAWeekly.com.

No bout agreements have been signed at this time bit appears as if the match up will be booked soon.

"Dinyero" tweaked his knee in the first round during a fight with Kenny Florian at UFC Fight Night 11 in September 2007. He continued to try and fight but eventually succumbed to a rear naked choke.

While recovering, Thomas was arrested for staging illegal "smoker" fights at his American Top Team (ATT) gym in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The trumped-up charges were dropped soon thereafter.

Neer has not competed inside the Octagon since a submission loss (kimura) to Nick Diaz at UFC 62: "Liddell vs. Sobral" in August 2006. He has since gone on to win six of his last seven fights in several other smaller organizations outside the UFC.

"The Dentist" holds notable wins over Joe Stevenson and Melvin Guillard and will look to follow in their footsteps with a drop to lightweight.

This is another solid match up added to an absolutely ridiculous UFC Fight Night 13 card. Lightweights Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon will throwdown in the main event of the evening, and a star-studded line up of fighters will fill-out the rest of the card.

This fight should be on the main card. This fight is going to be insane. I am very glad to see Josh Neer come back and this is another huge boost to the best division in mixed martial arts.

There are so many good fights on this card that it sucks we won’t get to see them all on TV unless there are plenty of round 1 finishes. This is definitely the best UFN card put together to date. This should be a good fight and I’m looking forward to seeing the dentist drop down to lightweight…he has some nice Florian-esque elbows.

AWESOME FIGHT CARD!

This Fight Night should be 3 hours so we can see ALL of these amazing fights!

Judging by that photo, Din didn’t just tweak his knee, he snapped it clean off.

haha, I was just going to say the exact same thing. I really wish they would make this 3 hours long. The only thing is, TUF7 airs on the same night, so they probably won’t have enough time.

I say they do it anyway!

i gald to see din is back, i hope he wins and gets a rematch with kenny.

by kazai on Jan 25, 2008 11:34 AM EST reply actions

155 lbs and yes he can make that weight, anywho i really like both of these guys but i feel like din got robbed his last fight he would of schooled florian anywhere the fight went but his damn knee. anywho hopefully they can rematch sometime after lauzon knocks out florian or gnp his ass like diego did.

by hector on Jan 25, 2008 11:36 AM EST reply actions

Main event:

155 lbs.: Kenny Florian (7-3) vs. Joe Lauzon (16-3)

Under card:

170 lbs.: Karo Parisyan (18-4) vs. Thiago Alves (13-3)
205 lbs.: Stephan Bonnar (11-4) vs. Matt Hamill (3-1)
155 lbs.: Spencer Fisher (20-4) vs. Marcus Aurelio (15-5)*
155 lbs.: Frank Edgar (8-0) vs. TBA*
155 lbs.: Clay Guida (22-9) vs. Samy Schiavo (10-4)*
155 lbs.: Din Thomas (20-7) vs. Josh Neer (23-6-1)*
170 lbs.: Tommy Speer (9-2) vs. Anthony Johnson (4-1)*

Sickkkkkk. 5 LWs that are arguably top 10 in the UFC on the same card. Not to mention Karo who’s top 10 in the world at WW against another exciting fighter in Alves.

I can honestly say I want to see all of these fights for one reason or another.

Neer vs Thomas sounds like a great matchup

Since Josh Neer’s last fight in the UFC vs Nick Diaz the Dentist has fallen off the charts like a rotting cavity. ….Man that was lame… He has stayed active though, fighting in some rather small promotions. The biggest show he fought on in the past year was on the IFL and he lost to some guy I never heard of….

I’ll never forget Josh Neer beating the bugeezus out of Joe Daddy sending him down to the LW divsion….

Bugeezus, LOL

Wow. I live 20 minutes away from Din’s school and never knew it. I must have driven past it eight hundred times. I’ll have to go check it out.
Are MMA schools usually cool with people dropping by?

by Landowner on Jan 25, 2008 11:47 AM EST reply actions

wow. this is better than most pay per view events except there is no title on the line. i’m just glad it’s going to be free on spike tv. definetely better then ufc 80 or 81 by far. this are the type of events ufc should be putting together with so many top caliber fighters they have. way to go. I agree they should make this a 3 hour special event and skip the ufc unleash. they have 5 real good fights at 155, stephan bonnar and hamill it’s going to be great at 205, karo and alves at 170, that’s crazy line up. I know everybody it’s upset karo didn’t take john fitch, I’m glad actually because that way gsp can knock both of them out.

I don’t think Neer would be able to beat Joe Stevenson again.

i like Neer this kid has got alot of heart and fights hard. should be a good fight. i would’ve liked to see Din vs Kenny rematch. especial after their fight where Kenny was talking shit walking around the cage saying i finish fights, i finish fight blah blah.Ken-Flo is a pud!

Chill man. There’s no need for name-calling. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion as long as it’s logical.

Id rather watch neer fight than alot of other fighters in the UFC this guy has heart and is a warrior he may never be a top contender but after watching the neer/stevenson and neer/ guilard fights you know this guy is tuff as nails.

yeah no shit, its not like spike has anything else on worth watching the only reason spike is now a well known broadcast station is because of the ufc.

He dominated Stevenson, but Guillard was taking it to him until (believe it or not) Neer submitted him.

I like the move. Neer wasn’t going to do anything at welterweight. There is way too much talent, and possibly even size, for him to make much of a splash.

by Mahde on Jan 25, 2008 6:19 PM EST reply actions

Neer moving to LW? This is a suprise to me, he should do pretty well here, good move for him. But i’d like to see Thomas come back strong. Guy is a veteren that is on a string of bad luck lately.

by The Anomaly on Jan 25, 2008 6:38 PM EST reply actions

I say the UFC calls up Fred Ettish (from UFC 2) to challenge in the LW division. His fetal-defence-position is second to none! GO FRED!

WAIT TILL U GUYS SEE JOSH NEER AT 155LBS…HE LOOKS SCARY GOOD. I WOULDNT BE SURPRISED IF JOSH JUST SHOT UP QUICK IN THE 155LBS DEVISION. DIN GOT LUCKY WITH HIS LAST WIN AGAINST JEREMY STEPHENS. SINCE LOSING TO NICK DIAZ AND THE NO NAME IN THE IFL JOSH NEER DROPPED DOWN TO 155 AND PUT AN ABSOLUTELY ASS WHOOPING ON PAUL RODRIQUEZ WHO TOOK PRIDES LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION…GOMI TO A 3 ROUND DECISION LOST….SO IF THAT DONT SAY SOMETHING THEN I DONT KNOW WHAT WOULD. HES NOT ONLY GOING TO BEAT DIN BUT GIVE HIM THE ASS WHOOPING OF HIS LIFE.
