It’ll be interesting to see what kind of shape BJ is in. I hope he comes in the best shape of his life. He needs to be well conditioned for a possible 5 round fight.

BJ looked to be in the shape of his life during the Countdown program.
NOW, regarding the weigh ins… I really like it when they have the weigh ins streamed live over the internet, or on ESPNnews or something – its a nice little mini-event that gets me pumped up for the PPV. However, when they don’t stream it live, they have “video highlights”, which I find to be dumb. It lasts all of about 40 seconds. I actually like spending 20 minutes watching the weigh in event while sitting at my desk at work. But I don’t want to watch something 40 seconds short with the only commentary being “185…,185…, 205…,204…,170…,169…” I wish that they would off the option to show the weigh ins from start to finish when its not streamed live. So that way people that want to watch it in a minute can, and those that want to see the whole thing can do so as well.

I hear some interesting news coming out of EliteXc:
Nick Diaz set to make his return at the April 26 event in Hawaii. No opponent has yet been scheduled but EliteXC president said he is trying to get Takanori Gomi to rematch Diaz at that event.
That is bad news for the UFC. If the UFC hasnt locked Gomi up to a contract, then they better do it soon. It sounds like Gomi is starting to accept the idea of fighting in the USA insteade of Japan. If thats the case then the UFC better show him the money and lock him up to a contract before EliteXC does.
Also As we all know EliteXC has locked Kimbo Slice into a long ter contract. EliteXC is trying to put together part 2 of Kimbo vs. Sean Gannon (THe only street fighter that beat Kimbo) Gannon is the fiughter Kimbo wants to fight most in the world and even was quoted as saying he wanted that fight BARE Knuckles (which wont happen because no athletic commision will sanction it).
Even more interesting EliteXC news is the war of words between Elite President Gary Shaw and Dana Whit. Shaw has offered Dana a challeng. Check it out:
Shaw downplayed his recent war of words with Dana White but again challenged the UFC president to match his best fighters with EliteXC’s best with winner-takes-all fights. He even offered to put up $1 million for it. Shaw also insisted that EliteXC heavyweight Antonio Silva could defeat “any heavyweight currently in the UFC.”
Interesting to ay the least!

I just found out some rather peculiar news reguarding stevenson in his upcoming fight with BJ. Stevenson will be cornered by Kevin Randleman and Laimon. I know Laimon always corners Joe, but why Randleman? Seems odd!

Kongo Update: “I don’t care what CC fans think”
Update from Kongo from today!!
Quote:
PDG: Some Cro Cop fans have said that you used low blows during the fight. What is your veiw on how the fight went?
Kongo: I don’t care what Cro Cop fans said about me. I was wounded but I still made a nice fight. I’m not the son of a coward, all my knees shots were correct. I have a lot of respect for him as he is one of the best strikers in the world. Cro Cop is “Cro Cop”, but I’m the man who wants the UFC belt. I won this fight honestly, what else can I say? Nothing more.

I think Randleman was recently laid up with a near-fatal staph infection or something. He may not be able to get back in the ring yet. Plus, he and Joe Daddy are both excellent wrestlers, so it kind of makes sense on that level too.

Cool news John. Antonio Silva is a F’ing monster. I like watching him vs anyone with talent. However, I am still waiting for that to happen…. I don’t cosider Cabbage overly talented. He can just take a wicked punch/kick. That is, until he fought Giant Silva.
EliteXC vs UFC = I Love it. Everyone always disse the EliteXC, I would love to see it. But, Dana will never do so. Gary Shaw will have to up the price, and Dana still won’t agree. He is waaaay to scared of having his fighters lose to a fighter from another promotion. And nothing is a guarantee as far as outcomes. I’d say that the closest we came to an EliteXC vs UFC fight was KJ Noons vs Nick Diaz. KJ Noons got KTFO by Charles Bennett. Nick Diaz defeats Gomi. I don’t think more than 5% of the world population picked KJ Noons to beat Diaz, but upsets happen…

So did Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski. Tank Abbott one by cuts, so I would hardly say KTFO…

My bad Patrick. But it is still safe to say that both Sylvia and Arlovski knocked him out first. And thanks for the correction Joe!

LOL, I just watched the fight on Daily Motion. The announcer is like “I don’t think Tank can knock Cabbage out. OHHHHHHH, Tank just knocked Cabbage out!” LOL.
With that said, Antonio Silva is a MONSTER. I was very happy to see him cut down to 265 to make HW. I think he actually came in at 262 or so last time out (first time as HW)

YO VM that is great idea..but Dana will not sign off on it. You got that right anything to protect his brand at all costs.
Dana doesn’t want to give us fans the best fights in the world..he wants to give us the best fights within the UFC.

ViolentMike: I also doubt dana would ever agree to it. He definetly wont put up his champions against other organizations but maybe he could consider putt up some like top 10 guys to fight. Still highly unlikely. So what if the EliteXC fighters defeat the UFC fighters…everyone is still going to watch the UFC and people are gonna watch EliteXC anyway because its on showtime instead of pay per view. I think it would be a great event but with Dana as the boss, I doubt that it will ever happen.
Does anyone know when Antonio Silva’s contract with EliteXc expires? he would be a great addition t o the UFC
