Kimbo is one of the few names they have on their roster that can sell some seats..even though Kimbo is a internet fighting average Joe’s..he still is very marketable and Kimbo will get pushed hard to help eliteXc.

this is kimbos second fight guys. Why would you want to put him in with a seasoned verteran like rizzo, gonzaga, or silva. I think give him a few more fight of lower caliber fighters and let him prove himself and show us that he is ready to step up in competition. we all know this guy can take and deliver a hell of a punch but that is all we know.

matt – Exactly, gotta give him fighters that should (theoretically) be at about his level. Since he hasn’t had that many fights, they can’t just put him up against the big boys. If he walks through the lower ranks, gets a good education in the process, then they’ll definitely start pitting him against bigger names. I think it’s a really smart move for EliteXC to get Kimbo on board.

I think everything you said is true except for Frank Mir. I think we are gonna see Mir become champ again. If you watch the Vera fight (yes where he got his ass kicked) you can see his standup got wwaaayyyyyy better. I think we are gonna see Mir transform himself into one of the best all around guys after this next fight. Annnddd. YOu know UFC is staging everything so that Sylvia will win against Big Nog and then we can have the Sylvia Mir 2. I once was in Wrens, GA at a Jet Convenience Store and soem idiot got in my face and started talking about the “Jefferson County Warriors were gonna win the State Title in football.” Guy would not shut up. In front of everyone I told him to 1) Watch his breath in my face as it was kickin’ and 2) I would submit and make him pass out if he did not shut up. To make a long story short the guu would not shut up and choked him out IN FRONT OF EVERYONE in the store. Clerk started screaming and folks scattered. Guy was laid out. Unconscious.

That is just one example. I lift weights. Have 16 inch guns. Bench 320 pounds. When you have 16 inch guns and bench 320 not too many people even TRY to mess with you.

  How old are you, just out of curiousity? Your mental age is definitely not over 12, I’m in my 30’s and you wouldn’t last 5 minutes in some of the bars I go to, I absolutely guarantee it. I am NOT saying I could steal them away but I AM saying I could hook up with them. It has happened too many times. I can walk in a bar and have 3-5 women basically come to my table. QUICK QUESTION FOR WILDMAN: I am just curious about this, but what “ballparks” do you walk around from section to section looking for fights? Because I know for a FACT that if you get in a fight at Yankee Stadium, you are getting locked up. They even have a holding cell inside the stadium. The same goes for Giants stadium. If you get in a fight in the stands, you get arrested, at least where I’m from.

However, it is common knowledge that fights break out all the time at European soccer games, so if you’re Europian, I believe you, or if you are using your non-lockdown time in prison to post here, I believe you.

I’ll tell you this though, if you were walking through the stands at a game I was at, and you were looking for a fight, I would just sit there and laugh. First about Wildman. He demands respect. Who cares? Good for him. He cuts in line, drags people out of cars, rips apart doors and tables. He is Steven Segal on acid. It’s all good until we get to the weight lifting part.

Being over 6’ and under 190 pounds yet benching 320, as someone who has lifted weights for a decade, I would say thats unlikely. When someone says “I bench 320” I take that to mean he does his 6-12 reps with that weight. Arnold Swchazneger(?) was benching 8 reps of 400 in preparation for his first Mr Universe contest. (read it from the modern encyclopedia of body building, great book btw). Theres a big difference between your max single rep capacity and “what you bench”. Usually though in conversation people will use the former, which is misleading.

Don’t tell me it’s “average” for most gym rats to bench 320, its not, maybe as a single rep yeah a fair number of people can do it ON A MACHINE. Big difference from doing it on free weights. But at 187 pounds, even a single rep of 320, even on a machine, well thats not half bad. If he actually does 6-12 reps at 320, that’s when it gets more towards the unlikely side. Whether it’s true or not we will never know – as with 99% of claims you hear on the internet.

I do have to add though, that this is possibly one of the funniest threads I’ve read on the internet. Just because some of the responses are hilarious (ie. I like both Kimbo and Tank, but I would bet on Kimbo at this point. Tank is a great boxer and good wrestler but generally he doesn’t have the stamina to compete – especially with a guy almost 10 years younger. My prediction is Kimbo will take Tank down and submit him in the end of the 1st round. He submitted Mercer easily enough. Even though in his interviews he says he wants to fight a stand up bout, he said the same thing about Mercer and he took him down.

I think a good opponent for Kimbo would be Paul Buentello.

Tank had a furocious KO punch. He is years older now, and years slower. He fought with a good solic chin and countered with a killer KO. But, Kimbo is younger, getting in excellent shape, can defend standup fighting, has KO power, and has even greater strength, endurance and great chin. He should be too hard for Tank to hit cleanly, leaving Tank defenseless after their first few exchanges. Kimbo will leave him hurt and down quickly via punches, kicks, elbows or knees. He is fearless because he knows he will connect and the other guy will miss most often. It takes more than one to KO Kimbo.
I hope UFC and any other organizations stop Tank from fighting anymore. His age and exhaustion could get him killed or maimed. Then UFC could be sued rightfully so.

I can’t believe some of you think Tank will win… I haven’t seen many of his fights but the few I have he has ether lost or won due to a lucky punch, that his opponent stepped into I might add. Kimbo may not be the best fighter but as you know he is being trained by Bas and I think he has potential to make an impact in MMA not just in this fight but in his career. He’s not young but look at Randy Couture. Kimbo may be nothing more then a streetfighter(And one tough one at that) now but give him a few years, some proper training and some experience and he could become a real competitor.

If you watch the Ray Mercer fight you’ll see that Kimbo dominated both on the feet and ground and just whipped the floor with him. Period.

Now if you watch many of Tank’s fights he’s got few ground skills and in my opinion is not even that great of a striker. The only thing he has going for him is that ability to knock Kimbo out. Also his stamina is worthless, I’ve watched matches where he’s been drained after the first couple minutes.

Tank’s only hope is to get a lucky punch and knock Kimbo out. While I can see Kimbo winning in any number of ways.

I’m not sure why people keep hating on Kimbo. He’s a decent fighter that has risen from some hard times and though a bit of luck is now breaking into MMA. Obviously he’s not as good a as Frank Mir, Tim Silvia or Fedor Emelianenko, but don’t discount his skill ether. Many fighters start off one dimensional and are successful for a while. If Kimbo can master the different aspects of the sport he ‘could’ be a force in MMA. He already has a solid stand up complimented by knock-out power so I’m sure within a few years he will train his ground game hard and turn into a well rounded fighter.

Anyways I like my stand up strikers and it’s sad to say but – Tank is washed up, Kimbo will win… This fight almost seems unfair.

A fight I would like to see in the future(After Kimbo’s rounded out a bit) would be Kimbo vs Brock Lesnar. Both hugely build guys with lots of fan support, I’m sure someone would make a lot of money with that match up.

Let me break it down for you all…

First off, there is no doubt both of these guys can throw down. The problem with this match is Kimbo is an unproven street fighter. We have seen him demolish bums on the internet, but have you seen the fight where he lost to Sean Gannon (a cop!). Yes, the “almighty” gorilla lost to a cop/amateur MMA fighter. Kimbo looked lost after a few minutes since he was so used to beating the hell out of bums.

Sean Gannon has an amateur MMA record of 4-1 and has a professional MMA record of 2-1. He hasn’t fought since losing in 2005 though.

Yeah, Kimbo has trained hard since attempting a MMA career, but bottom line, he’s a street fighter. If he lost to an amateur MMA fighter, in an internet fight video, do you really think he will match up against Tank any better?

Tank Abbott is a trained veteran in MMA. He’s only lost two fights to a KO (Rizzo in 98 and Buentello in 06). He knows how to take a punch and he’s got a rock solid jaw. Something Kimbo isn’t used to.

I’m not taking anything away from either fighter, but considering the circumstances (Tank’s age, Kimbo’s experience) I have the fight ending in the first round – submission, in favor of Tank.

Did you guys see that 43 seconds! HA What an embarrassment. Did you see some of those great dodges, followed by powerful counter punches. I told you that you underestimated Kevin Ferguson, he obviously trains hard and if he keeps that up he has potential to go places.

Hopefully he will be put up against a better fighter now. Though I think this proves that he’s more then just a street-fighter with no skill, because he defiantly showed some finesse in there. More skill with his stand up then Tank and if you can call Tank a MMA fighter you should respect Kimbo enough to give him credit where it’s due.

that fight was trash tank gassed in a matter of 10 seconds it was all tank for about .5 seconds of the match the other 44.5 was kimbo beating his ass. i am a fan of tank but after a showing like that i dont think he should ever get back into the ring ever!!!!!! tanks mma career is over and kimbo shouldnt take any pride in beating his ass tank didnt take the fight serously we got to see classic tank swinging for the fenses gassing and than getting his ass knocked out…. his last seven fights have gone in that order…..

i think kimbo has now proved that he can beat a old fat guy up know lets see him agianst a fighter that can defend them selves and wont gass in the first ten f***ing seconds of the fight i say through him there agaisnt maybe josh barnett and see what he can do…..

I hate how people turn around and change there minds about things after the match is said an done. Before the fight everyone was saying that Tank was a MMA fighter and Kimbo was just some street-fighter. Now that ‘Some Street-Fighter’ whooped the ‘MMA fighter’s’ ass, he’s just some fat guy…

I totally agree that Tank is to old, washed up and out of shape to ever step into the ring again, esspecially from that showing, The fist minute was supposed to be where Tank would do good but instead he was the one who got knocked out.

I’m not saying Kimbo’s a super hero, but he is a fighter give him credit – He destroyed that fight. Now he should get some real fights and we will truly get to judge Kimbo. He’s got a Submission and a Knock out proving that he is adapt in stand up and ground fighting. I think if he keeps training with Bas he’ll be ready to step up and give us a show in his next fight.

In all fairness mma is a younger man’s sport. Tank is 42 and never been known for being in shape . Kimbo needs to stop trying to build his rep. by taking easy fights. Tank debuted in ufc in 1994 when he was young enough to rely on sheer strength . Kimbo may have true skills but he needs to fight tested guys who currently present a challenge, otherwise why not just ressurect ken shamrock, keith hackney and mark coleman . All great fighters in their day but time moves on and it’s moved on for Tank . Kimbo knows this and he was looking for a big name and and easy fight . kimbo needs to join the ufc they seem to have a deeper pool of talent to test him.

I know Tank is still incredibly strong but 14 years ago he had natural endurance the kind most of us have when we are young .But it fades with time unless you condition yourself rigorously which Tank never does. I like Tank but I hope to never see him fight again .He needs to walk away before he ends up like some punch drunk boxer.
