UFC Fight Night: Spencer Fisher vs. Marcus Aurelio

spencerfisher-marcusaurelio.jpg
Lightweights Spencer Fisher (20-4) and Marcus Aurelio (15-5) will fight on the UFC Fight Night card set for April 2, according to FightNetwork.com.

The SpikeTV special will possibly return to Colorado for the first time since 1995, according to the report and a recent Web site update from Stephan Bonnar right here.

Of course, the "American Psycho" is penciled in to take on Matt Hamill that same night in a light heavyweight tilt. In addition, 155-pounders Kenny Florian and Joe Lauzon are expected to headline the show.

Fisher has had a rough go his last few times inside the Octagon. He was outwrestled and outhustled against Frank Edgar at UFC 78: "Validation" in November, came out on top of a slugfest with Sam Stout at UFC Fight Night 10 in June and was stopped by Hermes Franca at UFC Fight Night 8 in January.

In addition, he sustained a serious staph infection that forced him to withdraw from a bout with Din Thomas at UFC Fight Night 11 in September.

Aurelio -- a former standout in Pride FC and who trains with the prestigious American Top Team camp -- has also had his own recent ups and downs.

In fact, he has uncharacteristically dropped three of his last four bouts -- albeit to top-level competion such as Clay Guida, Takanori Gomi and Mitsuhiro Ishida. "Maximus" most recently defeated Luke Caudillo via first round technical knockout at UFC 78.

Great line up of fights thus far. Stay tuned for more updates.

This is a really good match up. Aurelio has had a few fights under his belt, the octagon jitters should be gone and I expect to see him more loose, relaxed and put on a good show. I like Spencer a lot and I expect to see him bounce back from Novembers loss to Frankie Edgar

This fight night is turning out to be an awesome card:
Kenny Florian vs. Joe Lauzon
Spencer Fisher vs. Aurelio
Stephan Bonner vs. Matt Hamil

I am more excited about these fights then I am about UFC 81

Also this event will probably be followed by the 1st episode of TUF 7…. The UFC seems boring in the next couple months, but it looks like it will start to pick up come march.

As for Mirko Cro Cop, I hear rumors of potential match ups against either arlovski or Brandon Verra. Most heavyweights are booked to fight in the immediate future so out of cro cop, Arlovsk, and Verra….I expect two of those fighters will be matched up to fight each other…..This is just my oppinion its not factual…..lets just hyope I am right because any combination of these 3 fighters will make for an interesting fight.

Why is there a picture of Sam Stout and not Spencer Fisher?

If the UFC is scheduled to have this fight night in Denver, hopefully this is a MAJOR stepping stone to bringing the UFC back to its roots with the 1st pay-per-view ever. All we need is a great turn out and hopefully we get another pay-per-view.

I say Marcus wins via submission.

Frankie Edgar took Spencer down at will. I see Marcus doing the same and getting the submission victory.

WOW GREAT CARD STARTING UP

WHY ARE THE FIGHT NIGHT CARDS BETTER THE PPVS???

Most of the fights on “Fight Night” are with fighters who are either very hungry/have something to prove or have their backs againts the wall.

I personally think alot of the “Fight Nights” are better because they hardly ever go to desicion and oh yeah…they’re free on T.V!!

These UFN are being put togther much better than these..“just order PPV to see ufc..cuz it’s the F’n ufc..” attitude Zuffa has..The last few consective UFN have all been really good fights.

Fishers hands are magic, just hope he stops giving away the takedown and sprawls and demonstrates his phenomenal dynamic striking, really hope he stops aurelio with a flurry to get back on track to the elite of LW

Fisher’s hole is his ground game, but edger would definately beat aurelio so this one is pretty close to call. If fisher can keep it on the feet it should be an interesting match. otherwise it will be just another lay’n’pray snooze fest..

Battle of who should still stay amongst the top echeloen of the weight class, they both desperately need it.

By the way, this fight card is looking awesome for a free night on spike.

You have the info wrong regarding Spencer on UFN11. Spencer Fisher was originally scheduled to fight Din Thomas back in September and then Kenny Florian replaced Spencer because of a staph infection.

Either way, sick UFC fight card for free!!

man, i really like spencer fisher but he is easily taken down and marcus has a huge ground advantage. idk, tough one to call
