Good idea in my opinion as when he lost to rampage it was said he would have to win two fights to get another title shot one being jardine which he lost and the other being wanderlei which he won,if he rematches jardine and shows he should have beaten him which he should have, then he should and will get a title shot.

I disagree..but I feel the ufc will accomodate chuck’s situ. He being 38 yrs old. The face of MMa Mainstreamisim in America. He lost his title..then lost to Jardine..two in row..fought Wandy..and won. If he fights Jardine again..and wins IMO he should fight asnother top tier LHW for the title shot..I don’t feel he should just get a rematch with Jardine and then a title shot..just on the strength of being Chuck Liddell. With Machida, and Thiago Silva dominating..add the undefeated Rashad into the mix..with the filming..editing..broadcast of the TUF season 7…then to have the LHW title match..maybe in May or june..I think that is enough time for Chuck to have to 2 more fights to prove without a doubt he deserves a shot at the tile.

i thought that shogun made more sense, in seeing how everybody knows that chuck was not focused in the Jardine fight, so why even bother he should fight Shogun and if he wins then thats him beating two of the best fighters ever and that is enough to get a title shot i mean beat the hell out of both guys that beat the hell out of the champ come on thats enough, afterwards lets say jardine racks up a few wins then he can rematch liddell but if jardine looses then thats even more evidence that the only reason why he won is because chuck was not himself. have jardine fight like thiago silva and if he wins then it shows his loss to alexander was a fluke after he beats Silva he can fight another top guy and then by then rematch with liddell
by hector on Jan 8, 2008 10:48 AM EST reply actions
He wont get him right away Jardine just beat him he still needs to fight someone else it would not be fair to jardine to fight a guy who he just beat it would not sit right in the ranking and if it did happen you would hear alot of other fighters call favortizim

also if he fight jardine and wins you think it more worthy of a title shot than if he fights shogun and wins, come on jardine is not a top 10 contender he won the chuck fight only bcuz of chucks demons, the griffin victory was also tainted seeing how forrest was always getting in harmsway to please the crowd now forrest has changed up his gameplan and look what happened although shogun did not have a full tank of gas when they fought. who knows if chuck really wants jardine dude Dana will make it happen but, if i where dana i would explain the scenario and it makes more sense to fight Rua

I agree with you PhilQNY. Beating Jardine should in no way give the Iceman a title shot. Jardine’s last fight was the decision win against Liddell. His last fight prior to that was when he got murdered by Houston Alexander. That does not put Jardine at the top of the LHW ladder. If anyone wants a title shot, I think that they need to go through Machida or at least Thiago Silva – both of whom are undefeated. You also mentioned Rashad. I have Rashad ranked higher than the Dean of Mean. I think that Liddell should fight Machida in a #1 contender fight right around the time Rampage and Forrest fight (but rumor has it that Machida was offered Tito, but Tito has yet to agree). But if Chuck really wants to stay active in the meantime while TUF 7 is taping, he can fight Jardine. But if he loses to Jardine AGAIN, he will never hold the title. So I think a fight with Jardine at this point is a bad idea.

jardine?that sounds like the easy way out,it would be the easiest oppent that they would offer him he needs to move on and get that one back later.there is to many top fighters he should be looking at to even cosider jardine right now,if he wants to go for the title again.

I think it would be good for a rematch, because it would settle the “Jardine desereves a title shot dispute”..They have to wait for Rapage/Griffin anyways…
But I also agree with VioentMike and PhilQNY..

Jardine’s camp should refuse this fight outright. I mean, they just fought and Dana is probably hoping Jardine get KTFO to make it look like a fluke.

Worst interviewer ever! Is he afraid to use the microphone the way it’s supposed to be used or something? And eye contact?!?
Anyway, it would be great to see Chuck fight Jardine again down the line – definitely a fight he should win. The 1st fight Jardine really stepped up, but he was getting hurt badly in the 1st round. No doubt Chuck is going to mix things up and not let Jardine get away with so many leg kicks the second time round.

i’m sure he does want another shot at jardine, why wouldn’t he? but that would be some messed up shit by the ufc to tell jardine he has to beat chuck twice to get in line for a title shot, jardine won that fight and he deserves to move on to other fights. that would be some serious favoritism by the ufc

LOL, I had to turn the volume down everytime the ‘interviewer’ was talking, and turn it all the way up every time Chuck was talking. I guess the ‘interviewer’ just got his first microphone for Christmas and is just being exra cautious. He wouldn’t let that thing get anywhere near Chuck. Then when he would talk, it sounded like he was deep throating the darned thing. MERRY CHRISTMAS

Chuck should fight Evans.

Rematching with Jardine is not how the UFC makes fights.
What Chuck needs to do or should have to do to get another shot are irrelevant to Dana and Joe.
Chuck will get a title shot before ever facing Jardine again.
This is a prime reason that the UFC needs a ranking system.

Rampage isnt fighting Forrest until June-August, so the title wont be defended again until October-December….so Chuck could fit in 2 fights in that time period and if they are against top competition I have no problem feeding him to Rampage for a 3rd time.
Rampage loves fighting Chuck. He said he would fight him 10 more times if it will bring the money in. Rampage knows he has Chuck’s number and everytime he fights Chuck he gets a nice pay day….He will fight chuck anytime…..its up to chuck to earn a shot at the champ.

I definitely could see chuck beating jardine if they fought again but beating jardine to me shouldn’t give chuck a title shot, I think lyoto is higher up the ladder than jardine, have chuck fight him. Shogun would be good too, there’s a lot of good light heavyweights out there, thiago silva could be a very interesting fight, I say if chuck could beat him he deserves a title shot. Also I really feel lyoto should definitely get a title shot this year for sure.

Everyone in the mma world? Please. When Chuck lost everyone was saying he was done. Now it was an off night? Jardine beat him up and battered him with superior kicks. He knocked him down with a poweful hook, almost finishing him. And would do it again. He also destroyed number one contender Giffin. Where is his respect? alot of guys here are saying that jardine isnt a worthy opponent, dat if chuck beat him why should he deserve a title shot especially since jardine lost his previous figh to houstont! anyone notice rampage, 1st fight in ufc against Marvin Eastman, ya he won, but the performance was terrible, then boom, gets a title shot! forrest gets beat by jardine, beats shogun, boom title shot!! to jardines credit, he did beat the number 1 contender, and the ex champ, is he a title contender, in my eyes no, but da ufc does sum shitty match ups! i personal believe that if jardine fought liddell again, he would get destroyed, however it has been seen before when one fighter looses to another, then wins next fight, he fights the guy that beat him the previous fight, case in point: randy couture gets beat by chuck, then randy beats Arsdale, then fights chuck again! personally i would love to see liddell v shogun, which i can see liddell winning, as no stomps, no soccer kicks and can anyone actually get liddell in da clinch to throw kness for a long period?? from dere, if chuck beats rampage or griffin for title, then he should look to avenge his loss against jardine, by that time he will be 39, perhaps a retirement, go down in history to avenge his every loss, except for dat second 1 to jackson, pretty impressive!
on a side note and totally away from the point, anyone here read the article with mayweather sr talking bout his son going into mma, very funny, will post if anyone hasnt read it!

by box91 on Jan 8, 2008 10:55 PM EST reply actions
There’s no way Jardine should even be ahead of Rashad, given he lost to Rashad in their only head-to-head fight on TUF2, and he dropped two fights since TUF2 (granted the loss to Bonnar was controversial, but the loss to Houston a highlight-reel beatdown) while Rashad went undefeated. I’d love to see these two fight again, but we all know that won’t happen, since they’re friends who train in the same camp.
I’d like to see Jardine vs Tito — his takedown defense / ground game needs to be tested against a tough wrestler / ground fighter before he gets a title shot (and I think this is a bad matchup for Jardine).
As for Chuck, I’d like to see him fight either Shogun (which should be every bit as exciting as his last fight vs Wandy) or Machida (given both of these guys started out their martial arts background with karate, this should make for an exciting karate-style fight). But if the UFC is inclined to give Chuck an easy fight, they might give him either Rashad or Thiago Silva.
I’d also like to see a Chuck vs Wandy rematch sometime next year. Anyone else also want this rematch?

I thought Jardine would beat him the first time, and I think he will do it again. Jardine is not going to stand toe to toe like Wandi did, and play Chucks game, he wasn’t stupid enough to do it the first time and if they fight again will not be stupid enough to it in there second fight. Jardine fought his fight last time and that is exactly what he will do again. Chuck was out of his element, he did not know what to do about those leg and body kicks, Jardine just not letting him get into striking range and not only that when he did get close enough, Jardine putt him on his ass with a solid punch. He may well have got his confidence back fighting Wandi who had no strategy whatsoever, but if he thinks that is goig to work with Jardine who obviously studied Chucks fighting style worked what was capable of nutralizing his strengths, then he is in for the same lesson again. I like Chuck but he got beatby the better fighter, he and everyone else needs to deal with it. Jardine and Machida should be fighting and moving up the path towards a title shot. Jardine made one mistake against Houston, I did not even consider that in his first match against Chuck, it was the destruction of Forrest and his technical skill against Bonner that I took note. Do not go by how the guy looks or talks, take a look at the guys skills in the Octagan, the sport is MMA and Jardine needs to shown a bit more respect.

Guys, Its not fair to Jardine to have to fight Chuck twice in a row…not that I give a crap about Jardine and what is fair and not, but come on, lets face it Jardine should fight someone else, like say Thiago/Machida/Evans and Liddel should fight Shogun/Machida/Thiago…..a rematch with Jardine would bring out “Chuck the wrestler” I think. More wrestling and GnP than kickboxing match which he lost like last time. I think Chuck and SHogun would be awesome for the hardcore fans! We would all like to see it, but agian it puts both fighters in a bad position if they lose…..actually I think Chuck pretty much needs to win from now on if he still plans on having a career in the UFC, he is definately working uphill from now on unless he wins the title then I suspect he will retire, or if he loses again, I think he will retire also.

There will be a Liddell vs Jackson III every chuck liddell fan wants to see chuck beat rampage and he can hopefully he retires at the top.
Now liddell vs Machida that would be easeir for chuck than jardine machida has never faced anyone like chuck, chuck would KO him.chuck would have a problem with Thiago though that would be his hardest fight.
