UFC Quick Quote: Drew McFedries on Patrick Cote fight at UFN 12

"I do what I have to do and I don't really change anything. I don't really care; I do my own thing. I'm a fighter that shows that. Some fighters say, 'Oh, I want to end it in the second,' but not me. I'm gonna lay it out there in the first three minutes. People come to see a fight and I'll give them a fight. I train hard and hopefully when I go out there and fight it shows I trained hard enough."
-- Middleweight Drew McFedries tells MMAmadness.com about his upcoming fight with Patrick Cote at UFC Fight Night 12 on January 23. He also talks about how he landed in mixed marital arts, training with Pat Miletich and the reason Matt Hughes will defeat Georges St. Pierre. There's more ... check it out if you have some time.

Then at the 4th minute he will gas, spit out his mout piece, get a 20 second stoppage, and then crawl back to his corner after the first round.
Lets hope his cardio is better, because I know COTE, COTE COTE COTE, will have cardio.

With that attitude, he really needs to fight Houston Alexander. Either he can go back up to 205 or Houston could go down to 185. Doesn’t matter to me…

I just read tye whole interview…It was pretty good. He is predicting that wanderlei will beat Liddell up all over the ring for a TKO win. I like McFedries, his stand up is very exciting.
I never thought much of Cote..the only time I was really impressed by him was UFC: War of 04 when he lost to Tito, since then he has been one of the hardest fighters to predict. The match up between Cote and Mcfedries has the potential to be a very explosive fight. WE’ll see!

Good article. Drew has a pretty honest view on things. I just am suprised that since he knows he is dog vomit on the ground that he doesn’t even care to fix it. He sounds almost content with his role as a gatekeeper, which he will be if he doesn’t become more well rounded

Cote is knocking him out…
I dunno. Watch UFC 65 Bad Intentions, watch the Alessio Sakara vs. Drew match.
Drew took so many punches to the face and he still won.

Cote all the way on this one, cote has a solid chin, hits hard and has great cardio if they decide to box it out cote will win and if cote wants he can take it to the ground and choke him, game over.

That was one of my favorite fights ever. It was so back and forth and with really good technical stand-up by both fighters. I don’t see Cote winning this by KO, he’s got power but Dreww hits like a heavy weight and COte’s groung game isn’t that good. How long did it take Travis Lutter to armbar him? Not long.

Rumors are circulating that Forrest Griffin vs. Keith Jardine 2 will take place Superbowl weekend at UFC 81, this may be a number 1 contender match.
Also, Fedor is said to possibly be fighting Josh Barnett in Febuary at M-1’s inagural event on U.S soil.

I can picture Drew punching Dan Henderson right on the chin, Dan smiles at Drew, and KO’s him into 2012 with an overhand right. Dan Henderson can not be KO’d. If you don’t believe me, please ask Rampage Jackson.

Who in the world can sit here and predict how that fight will go? That could be one of the greatest championship fights ever, depending on how durable Silva is. We know hendo is more than durable, but what will happen if henderson connects with one of his famous haymakers? Silva is one of my favorite fighters, and I cant bet against him, and I love hendo, but I hope Silva stays chapion. However, I dont know if Anderson can take what Hendo will come at him with. I root for both of them, its just Henderson doesnt want to stay at 185, and if he wins the belt, he wont fight at 205 anymore and I wont get to see wanderlei vs. Henderson 3. Henderson vs. Shogun.
Truth be told Anderson Silva has never faced anyone like Henderson. Henderson has faced Anderson silva type competition. I hate to choose one but I will be rooting for Anderson, but my gut says Hendo wins.

John, it looks like you are a fan of both Anderson and Dan and you are rooting for Anderson due to potential fights that a Henderson loss can potentially lead to. BUT, which fighter do you like more/which are you more of a fan of/is either your favorite fighter?
By now, I would think that you know who my favorite fighters are (Diaz/Henderson/Fitch), but who are yours? Is Hendo in your 3 favorite fighters? (they don’t necessarily have to be in order, because that is very difficult to do if you have a few favorites)

Drew hits hard, but Cote’s chin has been tested by Leben, and that dude hits hard too. I can’t see Drew knocking him out.

Two guys who hit hard and can eat a lot of punches. As somebody previously touched on, if Drew wins, I would love to see Houston drop from 203(what he seems to always weigh-in)to 185 and fight him. On another note, when they show the weights of the guys on the nights of the fights, I wish they would actually show what they weighed that night. We all know about what they weighed in the weigh-in anyway. It would be interesting to see how much weight they gained back in 24 hours.
