this is the main event fight that there’s no underdog between that 2 fighters, both could win & both could loose against each other, so is this the last chance of this both fighters to see who will can still climb up to the ladder

I think Serra wins this one. I think he is underated for this fight. He obiviously has a great ground game and proven he has good striking, better than Hughes at least. I dont know what Hughes was thinking when he fought GSP. I think Serra, has less to lose against Hughes. If Hughes loses, I think he’s done.
I think Serra is better than people give him credit for. I am saying this because there is a reason why GSP was so nervous to fight him. Im some ways I get the impression Serra is like Randy mentally. He appears to be a very smart fighter and has put it together since tough. He resume is not as impressive as Hughes but he does appear to be a different fighter now – smarts, confidence etc… I have been watching alot of Serra’s previous matches and he always has been in the match and never really punished or beat up by anyone, just caught some unlucky breaks (i.e. Shonie Carter).

Just my opinion. dont get me wrong, I am not saying he stream rolls Hughes, I just think he will pull it off on Dec 29.

Really? well I think hughes steam rolls serra, and I personally think gsp was nervous to fight serra for two reasons(none of them because of serra’s skills), number one was lack of preparation and number two he likes serra and gsp seems to have difficulty in fighting his friends. Serra is the one who’s ego is getting in the way and if hughes ko’s serra on his feet it wouldn’t really shock me because serra seems tho think so little of hughes stand up. “Hughes ego will be his down fall” serra is the only one running his mouth non stop whats up this guys ass? Serra is the ego maniac now and a huge hypocrite, I like this guy less every time he opens his mouth, what has hughes done to him?? just because Hughes has an attitude with other fighters he hates his guts? weird. Hughes wins this one and its going to be a one sided victory, just my prediction and with every insult serra’s going to make it that much worse for himself.

Hughes is saving up everything he has and is gonne beat Serra down because he wants to shut him up. Plus Hughes said himself he only has about 2-3 fights left….

I don’t think its going to be a stream roll for any fighter in this one.

I agree Serra talks a lot about his distaste for Hughes but that because of how the show is edited. You never really see Hughes saying much. You mostly see him being upset about the loses. There many times that I have seen a TUF episode or an event where Hughes picks on people or makes stupid snarky comments… He made fun of GSP at a dinner…and he got bitched by him in the end.

You appear to be pretty irritated by my comments. You must have man love for Hughes or something to be so heated over, what I think are, pretty fair comments about my result(s) prediction.

“What has Hughes done to him?” Humm lets see:

(1) He disrespects everyone who isn’t a “farm boy”, like raising cows, bailing hay and riding a tractor is the be all and end all to life.
(2) He pushes his beliefs and opinions on people. I am catholic and his actions offend me. You don’t push bibles on people. It’s one thing to have strong faith and belief(s)but you don’t impose them on people. I can only imagine if someone would have said “Hey, thanks for the bible, but here is a Koran for you to read, brush up on and make part of your daily routine!”. He would have had a shit.
(3) Matt and his training during the TUF team disrespected the Gracie’s – and this is where it all started. Matt Serra was a stand up guy and put him in his place and defended Royce. Actually come to think of it, Matt shows everyone respect who deserves it. He even stood up for GSP and you know where those to stand right now.
(4) Insults and takes cheap shots at people. Just a lack of class! He does it a whim, with little regard for the people around him. Recall the “arm bar” comment at GSP?, saying Serra isn’t a good fighter etc.. If those are your opinions fine, but don’t cheap shot someone who just won the title and beat the snot out of someone who made you look amateur at best.

Don’t get me wrong, Hughes is a great fighter, he has all the skill and deserves all the accolades he has been given but to say “what did Hughes do?” Come on now. I don’t think a lot of people call Hughes a dick for no reason.

That’s like you getting a promotion at work after years of busting your ass, and then to have someone who you beat out of the position shit all over you, your degree, your previous employers etc….and you expect someone not to take it personally and throw darts at your picture?

P.s. Hughes does not have a very strong stand up attack, when did he ever lay anyone out striking on his feet? Oh wait there was Victor Hunsaker in 1998 and Scott Johnson in 2001…Oh Who? Yeah Exactly! Now he wants to Fight Anderson Silva..Hahaha please.

And I am saying this being a fan of Matt Hughes. I am just pointing out the facts/reality.

I could go on.

Hughes should smash the terra serra. I am also tired of his sh** talking. Both are big a**holes. Whoever wins will get mopped up by GSP. Silva will destroy Liddel.

I give this one to Hughes.

But it is close, Hughes can win maily through GnP, but can also pull off the submisson once he hits his opponents with some goodshots. People say Serra can use BJJ to counter Hughes’s wrestling on the ground but lets not forget Hughes has beaten up Royce Gracie and BJ Penn (both superior black belts) on the ground.

Should be a good one, Serra has a definate advantage on the feet but I give Hughes the slight edge on the ground despite Serra’s BJJ.

Hughes is going to be a huge favorite. People put so much stock in the GSP fight, but what about every single fight Serra had before the GSP fight? Serra didn’t look very impressive in any of them. He was good, but not great. Hughes is going to bring a ton of delusional fans a healthy dose of reality on 12/29.

I guess you only watch UFC knockout hughlights and not the actual matches. If memory serves me correctly he was putting on a submission clinic against Shonie Carter and caught a bad break with a lucky shot which was his only loss via a knockout or stoppage. The rest of his losses which are 3 ,aside from Shonie, were decisions – 1 split and 2 unanimous against really talented guys. I am not saying Serra is all the sudden the best there is right now and is unstoppable….I just dont think he is going to get killed but he will pull it off IMO. I also dont think he will string a ton of wins like Hughes did either.

This is what I proposed in another thread:

Hughes vs. Penn III
GSP vs. Fitch

This is what I proposed in another thread:

Hughes vs. Penn III
GSP vs. Fitch

You might of proposed Penn/Hughes III, I don’t know how serious you are with that, I know people would like to see it, but in all honesty, it WONT HAPPEN!

BJ Penn is fighting for the lightweight championship next month.

GSP vs. Fitch would be nice though.

Well most likely it will be for an “interim” title, and I hate having two belts for one division. That’s one of the reasons I lost interest in boxing.

BJ will gain more by winning the trilogy, than by beating Stevenson (or Sherk). It’s also a bigger money fight. Stevenson can have KenFlo instead. Once BJ wins the LW title (and he will), it’s gonna be tough to squeeze a Matt Hughes fight in there.
