UFC 80: Paul Taylor vs. Paul Kelly and Antoni Hardonk vs. Colin Robinson added to UK fight card

UFC 80 rapid fire
The steady drumbeat of UFC 80: "Rapid Fire" match ups continues with news of two more bouts for the event in Newcastle, England, on January 19 from The Metro Radio Arena.

British fighters Paul Taylor (8-2-1) and Paul Kelly (6-0) will meet in a welterweight showdown and Antoni Hardonk (5-4) will clash with Colin Robinson (8-3) in a heavyweight tilt, according to The Sun.

Taylor was putting the screws to the super talented Marcus Davis his last time out at UFC 75: "Champion vs. Champion" before being submitted via armbar toward the tail end of round one. It was a an amazing demonstration of resilience on behalf of Davis and a disappointing setback for Taylor after winning his Octagon debut against Edilberto Crocata back in April.

His next opponent -- Kelly -- is undefeated and will be making his Octagon debut. He trains at Wolfslair MMA Academy with The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 light heavyweight winner, Michael Bisping.

Hardonk is riding a two-fight losing streak against Justin McCully (UFC Fight Night 9) and former heavyweight champion, Frank Mir (UFC 74). A loss to Robinson -- who is winless inside the Octagon (0-1) -- could signal the end of the Dutch fighter's tenure in the UFC for the near-term.

"Big C" is a well-known mixed martial artist in the United Kingdom out of Ireland. Prior to his technical knockout loss to Eddie Sanchez at UFC 72: "Victory" he was considered a solid international prospect within the division.

Paul Taylor is no joke. He showed heart to go along with his skills in his lost to Marcus Davis. I give him the win here. As for the other fight, it seems to be a showdown to determine who isn’t the biggest loser.

Antoni Hardonk = unimpressive loss. Why does the UFC keep giving this guy fights when more talented fighters (Arlovski) sit and colect dust?

How is Paul Kelly vs Paul Taylor boring? Please explain

I had to laugh when Big C was putting a beatdown on Eddie Sanchez (of course Eddie ultimately reversed things). He almost had the fight stopped with g’n’p towards the end of the first round and gassed from throwing bombs.

He then went for an armbar and apparently Joe Rogan goes, “He goes for the armbar, and…oh no…uh, horrible jiu-jitsu, a blue belt would have finished that.”

Something along those lines anyway.

I’m excited to see Taylor fight again. Wish I knew more about his opponent.

“Prior to his technical knockout loss to Eddie Sanchez at UFC 70: “Nations Collide” " …nope…

I’m also looking forward to Taylor again, I was gutted he lost the way he did but credit to Davis…

Come on Paul Taylor… Hopefully he can get few wins under his belt… he had a great fight with Davis…the UK needs more fighters, then we can forget about bloody Bisbing!

Never seen this Paul Kelly guy before, anyone know about him?

Paul Kelly is one tough kid he is one of the UFC’s rising stars he is going to go a long way he trains with Mike Bisping and is talented in the ring and full of aggression he has an unbeaten record and all of his fights have been stopped in the first round. His brother Gary has also come on the scene recently and looks like he is to follow in his footsteps his boxing and stand up is exceptional two unbeleivable pro fights two wins found out some info on sherdog too.
