It’s nice that he stays close to his roots. Wish I knew what they were saying. I think his mother is Italian, I wonder if he speaks that fluently as well. You guys must be in a trance staring at the host because that is clearly not Spanish, it’s Tagalog. Lol

I have been a fan of Brandon since I saw his first UFC fight, I knew he would be a special fighter. I was very surprised to find out he is 50% Filipino; being Filipino myself, it is great to have someone in MMA who is as successful as Brandon from my home country. This is a great video, thatnks for posting it. GO BRANDON!!!

The one thing that stood out to me was Vera’s cast. He clearly broke his hand so… How could the athletic commission miss this on their report?

for those who couldnt understand…here’s some of the things that werent’ in english (LOOSELY translated):
host: how will u teach Richard so that what he learns doesnt kill whoever’s acting with him.
Vera: …
host: i wouldnt want to be your enemy in {some tv show —dont know how its spelt} but u’ll start tomorrow..
Vera: we’re gonna start 10 in the morning…
otherguy: we’re gona start 10 am and we’re going to train everyday…
host: and i love the way u can still speak tagalog, Brandon… how did that happen? and you still know how to speak up to now?
Vera: i use it all the time… at home, it’s really tagalog (that i speak)
otherguy: he really speaks tagalog, you won’t be able to fool him
host: so watch it, if ur speaking in tagalog i hope you only say good things to Brandon
Vera: i really know the last five (?)
host: what kind of martial arts will you train Richard in?
Vera: maybe jiu-jitsu…….
host: nice to meet you Brandon, i think your fans will increase here in the Philippines especially after they just heard you speak tagalog… you’re still ‘kapuso’ {trans: one heart?} up to now
otherguy: …it’s a great honor for me to have Brandon as my trainer.. there are many Filipinos who dream of training with Brandon..and i’m one of the privileged to be able to train with him.. i’m thankful to GMA and Brandon for coming here to train me.
host: And Brandon.. because after people have just realized how good looking you are, the girls in the studio wanted to know if you already have a girlfriend?
Vera: No girlfriend….but…i got a wife!

Don’t feel bad if some of you thought it was Spanish…
The phillipines was colonized by Spain and they mixed with the natives (who were of mainly maylay descent) and then you have Phillipinos, (Sort of like Mexico, with Spanish mixing with the natives there)…anyways, Tagalog (one of the three major languages of the phillipines aside from Ilokano and Bisayan) borrows a lot of words from the Spanish language and you are bound to here some English thrown in there too…I am 50% Pilipino myself!
If you have Filipino friends and they speak English and a Filipino Dialect, you can make fun of them by telling them tehy are speaking Chingrish…
