forget sherk. He’s about as exciting a fighter as was Pat Milatech.
I wanna see Hughes/Penn 3. I use to like BJ but hes a douche bag. Hope Hughes manhandles him again

Chances are that Sherk isn’t going to win the appeal. Even with all the evidence presented, this isn’t the U.S. court system. The CSAC is the judge, jury, and executioner. For them to reverse their punishment would mean to admit that they were wrong and everyone will start to question their testing methods. I’m sure the CSAC will want that trouble.

Whether or not he knew he took steroids, it is against the rules to have that amount in your body and they did still help him. I think the best scenario is that he will get his sentence reduced to maybe 6 months, but that still means his title will be stripped.

BJ did not look winded! I think BJ knows that his only flaw has been his conditioning. That won’t happen again, at least for a long while. There is not a fighter out there in light or welterweight that can beat him if is conditioning is where it should be.

If Sherk doesn’t win his appeal does the suspension start on the day of the Hermes Franca fight of the day of the appeal? Just wondering.

Joe was getting worked in that video.

Sherk is having his title taken away, no doubt about that. Of course, BJ was going to take it anyway so does it really matter? Either way the belt will leave the hands of a boring fighter and go to a better fighter. Fun times.

Im pretty sure the year suspension begins right after his last fight, not a year after the hearing.

Joe was getting worked, that will mean he will become more of a monster when he is done there! The kid is already a trainaholic.

When did Hughes manhandle Penn? Hughes was gettin his ass handed to him till BJ “had troubles with his ribs” or gassed, whichever you choose to believe. And BJ will manhandle anyone in the Lt Weight and Welterweight division with the exception of maybe GSP.

oh man, I’m sorry to offend but Penn is just a total arrogant prick. After seeing him on TUF, it changed my whole perspective of him as a person. I just hate seeing readking about the guy all together. BUT, he is a great fighter and that’s all that matters in the ring and as far as I am concerned his only competition is GSP. And yes GSP will be back on top.

Lol… Is Hughes dropping to 155? Why not think about what you are posting next time… It’s not rocket science…

penn losses to hughes. Liddell vrs. axe murderer, who cares—nothings up for grabs. I wanna see fedor vrs silvia—or that brock lesnar dude vrs either one of them. Or Silva vrs Hughes. Or Spencer Fisher vrs Silva, or anyone. UFC-Let’s Get A Stacked Card, OR ITS NAP TIME FOR ME & IM SURE MANY OTHER’S. PS, I know silva’s in neither of their weight classes,,, but,, back in the day that’s how it was & that’s what hooked me, It should still be like that, once in a while anyway. LET’S HAVE UFC 80 “OLD SCHOOL”. Take the best 12 fighters and have a war, no weight requirements. That would be interesting.

BJ Penn has always expressed interest in going back to the welter weight division (particularly to fight Hughes), which isn’t exactly an unlikely prospect. So I’m not too sure what your trying to say, but them fighting again is a very real possibility.

Amazing how you can think a guy is awesome, then you get a glimpse of them on TUF and all their awesomeness fades fast. I haven’t seen TUF 2 & 4 that had Hughes on it, but after 6 episodes of TUF 6 I can’t stand him and his bible thumpin, ego maniacal ways. I still love BJ though. He seems to be a bit of a prick in a funny way.

Big “P”, I laughed for five minutes! That was great. Sherk may lose his appeal but I guarantee you BJ would not have gotten up after one of those Franca knees to the head much less three of them. And, yes, Joe Rogan talks too much!!

possibly the next champ

“possibly”??

I think that the day B.J said he was staying at 155lbs, he was “the next champ”.

Dont get me wrong anything can happen(thats then business) but I dont think that there is any LW fighter that can handle what B.J brings to the table.
Even with how deep the 155 divison is, B.J is going to be the next champ who ever he fights.

Why are all of you guys calling BJ PENN arrogant and a prick. Was it because he said “If you wanna know what BJ PENN feels like, than visit BJPENN.com”? You can’t blame the guy for trying to promote his website. Why is BJ PENN an arrogant prick if he constantly did everything to help his fighters in TUF 5? He even helped STUPID GABE try to cut weight staying in the sauna with him. Was it because he pissed of Jens Pulver on the first show when he asked all the fighters what team they wanted to be on? Do you even know what he does back in HILO, Hawaii. Kids whose parents cannot afford to pay for the training and sport that they begin to love. BJ PENN has an open door policy at his gym to try to get all the kids to lead a positive life. He is a great fighter and a person who is trying to better the lives of many people.

Go figure, BJ looks winded. Better get in shape for Sherk.

He may have looked wineded to you, but I think thats what you wanted to see. If he was winded, then no big deal. You are supposed to exhaust yourself when you train. Go figure.

For all of the BJ haters, I have just one question; Why? I cannot understand why anyone would hate any of these guys. Sure, I don’t like the after fight antics of Houston Alexander, or the fact that so many people think he is top ten based on two fights. I don’t like Matt Hughes proseletyzing and telling people that they aren’t trying hard enough when they are puking into the garbage. But I don’t hate any of them.

Also, BJ is the freaking man. He fights with heart. I love how so many fighters are called arrogant. There is an old saying that basically says, “If you go to war expecting to die, then you will.” It’s the same thing with these guys. If you don’t think you’re the best, then you never will be.

by Mahde on Oct 28, 2007 4:46 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

There is no way BJ is an arrogant prick. He is very confident but at the same time, you never see him not give any of his opponents the respect they deserve, except Pulver while on the show, but that is TUF, and who konws how much of that is real. Even after that, Penn was cool with Pulver. Arrogant prick? I don’t think so, not even close.

A lot of these fighters are really cool when there’re away from fighting, but when you get them around eachother, they get ultra competitive and it becomes a pissing contest.

I like BJ as well even though he is on the arrogant side, he’s pretty cool to his guys in TUF and fans. he’s not even a big 155 lbs but he may dominate that weight class and move up to 170 and could win it there as well.

If BJ fights Hughes again I think BJ would win by submission. However, Hughes is such a rock it’s possible BJ may break another rib or something.

I think GSP is too smart a fighter to lose to BJ, he’ll probably take it to the ground and keep it there to win by decision.

What the hell is that drilled called anyway…

“GET PUNCHED IN THE FACE DRILL” ?

the problem is you probably never liked Hughes in the first place, so you see him being alittle mean in the show and you guys hate on him, same thing with BJ, Pulver, Franklin, Serra, etc… Personally I dont like Serra that much hes always bad mouthing Hughes almost likes hes jealous of him, all Hughes said about Serra was the truth:" that he didnt think Serra was top 10 WW, and that GSP would beat him 9/10 times".everybody knows his win over GSP was 1 in a million he needs to accept it and thats the end of that. anywho like I said i dont like serra but, that doesnt blind me from the fact that hes a very good coach in his own way, he seems like the kind of coach that will motivate you like crazy, be real nice and you dont want to let him down. now Hughes is the type that will push you and if you do a lil less than what he asks for he will be upset and one would have to work hard for his approval( but that can be very motivating as well), everybody has there own methods that doesnt mean that one as a fighter wouldnt want to do awesome and earn Hughes respect and prove him wrong if he didnt believe. BJ is an awesome fighter he could probably do all the things he claims he will do but, until he does, he should just not say nothing and surprise everybody, you know kinda like Couture, he talked a lil stuff before each fight but, other than that he never called ppl out and said im gonna win LHW belt then HWbelt then do it over and over. or GSP who has earned respect by performing well not by saying ima do this or that ( again he does before the fight but, thats only to hype it).

What the hell is that drilled called anyway…

“GET PUNCHED IN THE FACE DRILL” ?

being in the pocket means exactly that its so you can get comfortable with getting punched in the face without loosing concentration, personally i could tell you that it is hard to keep concentration of you hitting the other guy if your being hit yourself, if you get hit like 5 times in a row you more than likely get discouraged and get into what Couture calls “Fetal position” which is not smart, once you get used to being in the pocket without hesitation you can sparr properly and if your a fighter you can perform kinda like what Bonnar and Griffin do in their 2 fights just stand there and trade. its a great drill because you get supreme confidence in your abilities knowing that you can get hit with everithing the guy has and still be in there or not get hit at all becuz of your duck and weaving technique, very cool stuff

I love it when ppl do that I heard that Kendall Grove does the same thing everytime he meets somebody that wants to train and stuff he says sure show up at this place and train, he says he realizes that myb 1/2 of the ppl do it just for the hell of it but every other person is for real and he loves to help ppl like that. He said he know what it feels like and he never had the help that he gives to others so it makes him feel likes hes doing his share in helping the sport, which he is
