Catch UFC conference call online today with Lesnar, Liddell and Silva

UFC conference call
Jumpin' Jackrabbits.

The UFC has now decided to stream its conference call today online over at Yahoo!Sports.com at 4 p.m. ET. This is a rather historic moment -- never has this happened before. These calls are usually locked down tighter than Jesse Holland's jock.

But, the reigning UFC champion doesn't often resign from his post and schedule a presser to discuss the reasons he has decided to part ways with the organization. "The Natural" is slated to layout his case publicly en masse for the first time RIGHT HERE at 4:30 p.m. ET via streaming video.

Clearly, it's impossible for most media outlets -- and MMA fans -- to catch both broadcasts simultaneously. That seems to be logic behind all of this.

Anything Randy can do, the UFC can do better.

Touche.

Minor error in the title. “Lesnar” not “Larson.” Both are Brocks, both from Minnesota, both wrestlers. I can see how the error occured.

Otherwise, keep up the good work! I really enjoy the site.

Sorry of the over excitement, but I am happy as can be that I get to spend the last hour of my day at work listening to the UFC conference call, then watching Randy’s press conference. Time to block off my calendar in crappy ol’ Lotus Notes!

What do you guys think, do you think they will have the call last over 30 minutes so it overlaps Randy’s press conference? How long are these phone calls typically? Over 30 mins? Anyone?

I’m definitely more interested in the conference call. What more can Randy say? We get it, he doesn’t make enough money and wants to fight Fedor.

Why is the UFC so desperate for the worlds to not here Randy is my concern. Is there some behind the scenes battle between White and Couture, and Couture is revealing some secret UFC motives or something. This is all a bit bazaare.

I like how Dana pulled Lesnar, Liddel, and Silva into this, so more people will be inclined to listen to his lame conference call instead of Randys.

UFC is turning into WWE.

COMING SOON! DANA WHITE WILL FIGHT VINCE MCMAHON FOR THE VACANT HEAVYWEIGHT UFC AND WWE TITLES!!! THIS IS A UNIFICATION BOUT!!

The UFC sure likes to keep their subordinates in line. I think it’s interesting that there wasn’t one word said about Couture during the UFC: 77 telecast. Now they are pulling a stunt like this. I would be worried if I were Courture. I bet the UFC has some hired thugs to handle riffraff like him. Has anyone seen Tank Abbott or Don Frye lately.

I kind of like it.

It’s all business. It is like a cage match, except with suits, email and telephones and no cage. Business is just as competitive as the sport of MMA. Whoever is the best in business will win. (That’s my John Madden comment of the day)

I like the rivalry we had w/ PrideFC before it was bought up.
Competition will only benefit the people that really matter.

Hopefully Randy will still get enough exposure to be heard and make a difference. This is a small sample of a much larger problem: deep pocketed corporations control anything they want.

randy will most likely just go on a little later or really it doesnt matter because most fans already know what dana will be repeating.
new tv deal = old tv deal extended
chuck vs wandy = spike scream awards
lesnar = ufc 77

i think more people will be watching randy then listening to boring repeating dana white or whoever. either way the randy video and the ufc mp3 will be available everywhere after they happen so really it doesnt matter that much to me.

This is getting insane. The posturing and business moves are just so ongoing. It is really taking over the sport. The discussions on these types of websites focus on these petty battles much more so than the fights. I actually enjoy the petty battles more. In one year, there will be specials regaridng the rise and fall of the UFC and its president Dana White. There is no way around it.

HA HAAA. The first question in the press conference was whether Dana was f#cking Randy by having the press conference at the same time. Of course Dana said no, but we all know he is!
Dana sounded pissed.

I love how Dana is acting like he doesn’t know why Randy is pissed. I can’t wait to listen to Randy to here what kind of contradictions there are to what Dana says.

The contract expires in 9 months!! So Dana is fucked! no matter what he says, he is fucked.

To be fair, Silva lost his last 2 as well. And people still want to see the fight, so it makes sense. I could care less what their records are, as I want to see this gd fight before 1 or both retire

What? What is your reasoning for that?

by Sir Chokemout on Oct 25, 2007 5:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I think it will be very interesting to see how Brock Lesner does, that guy is massive, good luck to him, And good luck to Chuck and Wanderlai, it does make sense for them to fight, why not, records don’t matter with this fight, they both lost their last two fights and its a good intro match for Wanderlai and its a good motivation for Chuck to get back to where he was when he was champion. Everybody has their ups and downs, never write the best fighters off , never. Randy retired and then he came back and beat Tim Silvia. I think Dana is doing his best to provide us fans the opportunities to see these fights. Obviousely somepeople are going to say oh dana is screwing Randy over by having this press conference, but I could care less. I think Randy should honor his contract and fight his last two fights. I pray Randy comes back, I want to see him fight again. I think fans all over should express how bad they want Randy to return, and maybe Randy will see all the support and come back. I think people saying that Dana and Randy are at wars with each other is nothing but crap. I mean most of us are not Randy and Dana and we can speculate about what actually happened but we were not there. After Randy’s press conference well get a better perspective on what’s happening, Regardless of all the gossip and crap. Chuck and wanderai are fighting and We miss you Randy come back, your the best heavyweight in the world Period.

Sibling entertainment (SIBE.OB) ,the company that bought M1, has lost 60% of its value since the press conference 3 days ago. UFC will survive the loss of Fedor and Randy while Sibling entertainment group may fold if they incur any kind of setback.

When it’s all said and done, I think that Dana and Randy will work things out. One thing that does surprise me somewhat though is why the Fertitta brothers would let the situation get to this point. At any rate, it is time for the Fertittas to hire someone to counterbalance Dana and smooth things over even if it’s just “window dressing”. Why not hire Randy?

Because, while they certainly need someone to be a PR guy, the UFC would never, ever, ever give an important job to somebody who can’t be counted on to fulfill his contract.

Dana didn’t honor his contract with Ken Shamrock. Contracts are no more than who has the best lawyers.

Yes he did. The UFC made a contract that allowed them to drop a fighter in case he wasn’t up to snuff. That way if they signed a guy like Joe Scarola to a 3-fight deal, they aren’t FORCED to give him 2 more fights after he bombs his first one.

Don’t believe everything you hear, especially from disgruntled, narcissistic former employees (shouldn’t that be common sense?).

“WHITE LIES”?

“GRRRR, i’d sure like to see what that freakin’ contract says about “4 fights in 18Months.”

Did WHITE get caught with his hand in the cookie jar, telling little "white’ Lies.

1. “Never said no to Randy Couture” Said no to a bonus right? No to extra tickets for family and friends to attend UFC events..lol. damn Dana is a CHEAP BASTARD. lol.
2. Dana said Randy was happy with his contract, Randy said he was not happy.
3. Dana said he hadn’t talked to Randy, Randy said he talked to Dana 2 1-2 weeks before he left to film and laid everyting out he said at the conference. Dana and the brothers did not respond. That’s basically no.
4. "Randy is 2nd Highest paid fighter? Maybe? PPV he got 500k.

NOTE: FALSE
-Yahoo Sports, Couture negotiated and signed before his comeback fight against Tim Sylvia in March is for four fights and between $13 million and $15 million, which puts him behind only Chuck Liddell, at four fights and $17 million, in the UFC salary pecking order. Those numbers are believed to include percentages of pay-per-view money.

Any other white lies I missed or didn’t get quite right on Couture/White?… if so… just add on.

Any lies Couture made?… forget the honoring contract part etc… just verbal public lies.

Much more entertaining that what "white had to say… too transparant.
