Dana White to announce opponent for Wanderlei Silva at Scream 2007 on SpikeTV

Keep those television sets locked on to SpikeTV after "The Ultimate Fighter: The Tuffest 25 Moments" ends at 10 p.m. ET tonight.
BaltimoreSun.com is passing along news that UFC President Dana White will make an appearance during the program that follows, Scream 2007, which is "the biggest televised celebration ever of horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comic books under one roof," to make an important UFC 79 announcement.
Here's the snip:
"... Dana White will be making an appearance tonight on Spike TV's Scream 2007 show to announce Wanderlei Silva's first UFC opponent."
It's actually not his first UFC opponent -- "The Axe Murderer" will return to the Octagon at UFC 79: "Nemesis" on December 29 since he lost to Tito Ortiz at UFC 25 in 2000.
The program has already been taped, making it a bit odd that nothing has leaked out yet. But with DirecTV already letting the cat out of the bag, as well as the UFC.com homepage, there doesn't seem to be much of a "surprise" with this announcement.
Although it will be music to this blogger's ears to finally get official confirmation that Silva will clash with former light heavyweight champion, Chuck Liddell.
Paris Hilton be damned ... I'm watching it (with fingers crossed ... still).

So, if Chuck loses this fight does he retire?
Three in a row could spell c-a-r-e-e-r d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r

I hope the Iceman dominates in fashion, but i have a nasty feeling hes gonna get hurt, but then again silva is someone who liddell has wanted to brawl with for ages – hope we see a determinated iceman

Never really liked Chuck much but he will win. Wandy will try to stand up with him and that will spell certain doom for Wandy. Wandy will not get close enough to Chuck to be effective with his tuay clinch. Wandy’s pride will get the best of him.

Chuck = fists. Wandy = fists feet knees elbows.

Damnit, there were plus signs between the fists feet knees elbows part when I typed it.

Wandy’s feet and knees are excellent when he has a you in the clinch or on the ground with Pride rules. I beleive this is a bad match up for Wandy, don’t get me wrong I would love it if he won.

if he fights a damn good fight and it goes to like a split decision or majority decision he wont retire, of course if he wins he wont retire also, but if he gerts ko’d or losses by unanimous decision then im sure he will retire, hes said multipole times that if he feels he can still perform he will keep fighting so if he fights a damn good fight and barely loses im sure he will continue even if its 3 in a row besides if he wins against Silva he will probably fight Shogun next and then get a title match he needs to get thru Silva first

I’m going to laugh if he doesn’t say Chuck Liddell.

If you watch Wandy s fight against Mezger and Chucks against Mezger theyre pretty evenlly matched but its evident that unless Silva gets Chuck in the clinch he wont knock chuck out So as long as its in the outside and Chuck doesnt throw crazy weaping body shots I see Chuck KNOCKING Wandy out cold one shot

(I know he is alraedy fighting this is just a joke.)
They are going to say that "The BoogeyMan Dean Lister will be moving up weight to fight Wanderlei Silva at UFC 79!
(Scream awards The Boogeyman = Bad Joke)
Chuck vs. Wanderlei = Axe Murderer getting one more head on his plaque.

Should be an interesting fight. I don’t see Wandy’s Muy Thai playing too big a role, as Chuck is pretty good about avoiding the clinch (see Chuck vs Randy 2 and 3).
As much as I want Silva to win, I think Chuck will avoid his bombs and counter him. Of course, I also thought Chuck would beat Jardine, so what do i know, right?

I don’t understand why everybody wants Silva to win all of a sudden. Just because Chuck has lost 2 in a row – jeez everybody is jumping off his bandwagon pretty quick. Come on Chuck kick his ass.
You are still best you just need to focus.

Wandy is more entertaining than Chuck. Chuck is fun, but Wandy is the Cats’ pants.

You know its gonna be Chuck, and Chuck will probably knock him out(considering Wanderlei’s over-aggressive style which is fun to watch, but not fun for anyone fighting Chuck Liddell).

Lidell vs Silva would be great, but is it a definite? Could it be Silva vs Ortiz?
