UFC 77 betting odds
UFC 77: "Hostile Territory" is set for this Saturday, October 20, from the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Normally, Desert Dog checks in with his free betting tips and advice for these types of events. Unfortunately, he's out of town this week and did not have time to do a write-up.
I'm no expert and I'm not about to pretend to be one. Therefore, we're going to have to pass on the betting picks.
However, let me say this: I see no way Jason MacDonald wins his bout against Yushin Okami. I know, anything can happen in MMA. But my money is on the Japanese powerhouse.
BetUS.com is offering a pretty cool special this time around: FREE $75 play with a deposit of $200 or more. FREE money.
To create an account CLICK HERE.
Of course, there is also Bodog.com.
Check out its odds below:
As always — if you are going to bet — only play with what you are willing to lose. Good luck!

Take Matt Grice and Eric Shafer at that rate, dont bet too much but that might be a good pick for an upset.
Mania, when are we going to see the UFC 77 picks from Jesse and reader ______?

This is a must-win for Rich. If you think about it, if a year from now, Rich Franklin has the title, that means he would’ve beaten Anderson twice. If Rich wins, there will be a 3rd match. If Anderson wins, he’ll face the winner of MacDonald-Okami. Okami’s in a pretty good spot himself. I think he’ll get a title shot sooner or later just because he holds a win over the Spider, even though it was a controversial DQ. Same thing with Chonan. Silva could have a Liddell-like run.

Are you serious? Okami is way overrated. All of his wins are purely based on strength, not skill. Every time he gets in the octagon with a skilled fighter he gets his ass handed to him. MacDonald has some sick jujitsu and should crush him.

7th!!!
I’m expecting:
Demian Maia def. Ryan Jensen (submission)
Josh Burkman def. Forrest Petz (decision)
Jorge Gurgel def. Alvin Robinson (submission)
Jason Black def. Matt Grice (submission)
Stephan Bonnar def. Eric Shafer (submission)
Kalib Starnes def. Alan Belcher (decision)
Yushin Okami def. Jason Mcdonald (decision)
Tim Sylvia def. Brandon Vera (decision)
Anderson Silva def. Rich Franklin (TKO)
At first I thought Vera would be too quick for Sylvia, but I really think it’s Tim’s fight to lose, so I’m going with him- he’s the proven fighter. I saw that Vera is the favorite but I will nonetheless be surprised if he can get past the size disadvantage. Also, I hope Rich wins, I’m just not betting on it. The fights that seem most likely for me to be wrong here are Burkman-Petz, Starnes-Belcher, and Sylvia-Vera. Good luck to anyone who’s betting.

Ahh haa. I was wondering what was taking so long. I thought it would have been up yesterday. Jesse probably has some ‘inside sources’ that he’s been waiting to meet with sometime today before sending in his picks. lol. I wrote mine relatively quickly to get them in on time. I was going to take the time to add some one liners into my ananylsis, but thought I didn’t have the extra time. If I would have know I could have sent them in this late, I would have submitted a grammatical masterpiece!

Anderson Silva and Brandon Vera wins by KO over the Miletich fighters.

But as far as these betting odds are concerned, I can not believe that Anderson Silva is ONLY -190. I thought he would have been a much bigger favorite. I am seriously thinking about depositing money on that Bet Us site and dropping some dough on Anderson, plus I’d get a free $75 to boot. Those odds shown above are BoDogs, I am going to check the other site’s odds right now.
I have bet on BoDog before for horse races (the triple crown), but I have ever used Bet Us. Has anyone here bet money with them before?

Jesse actually had an interview last night that chewed up most of his time. We’ll get them up as soon as possible.

Big Tim, Rich, Kid Robinson and J-Mac look like the best underdog plays. Noob gamblers, keep in mind that the odds are a reflection of where Vegas thinks the money is going to go, not necessarily who they think will win.

Even though I don’t like Tim Sylvia as a fighter, I think he has a strong chance to win. I might place a few bucks on him, just in case.

I got all my predicitons posted.
If Rich shows up I believe he can overwelm Silva and win TKO in the second.
I think Vera will end this one with a TKO in the second.
I think Eric will somehow get it to the ground after being pressured by Bonnar’s striking and then Bonnar will get a submission in the second.
Both of these guys can survie in the ring and defend well so I think this will go to the judges with Starnes getting a decision win.

Tim Sylvia is the underdog? 2-time former champion is the underdog..that’s just wrong.

That is a prime example of what I mentioned above, about Vegas setting odds based on where the money is going, not on who is more likely to win. There are probably a lot of noobs who see Vera’s perfect record in UFC and overall and see all his exciting clips going against a guy who just got dominated by a 44-year-old and is coming off back surgery. A lot of people will see that, bet big on Vera, and Vegas tilts the odds to get an equal amount of money on Big Tim.

its not noobs noticgreing veras flashy knockouts, and betting on him, he is my head instructor, and people way more knowledgeable than you, like rampage trainer, juanito, said very clearly, that he will be the next HW champion, do some reserch, and dig realy deep, this is the future of mma, dont see him losing any fights, as HW, or LHW, in the next 5 yrs, and wouldnt be suprised to see him go undefeated for his career, that is how good he is, best trainers in the game, rob kaman, greatest kickboxer,of all time, and muay thai legend, and lloyd irvin, bjj legend, veras kicking , knees, are at another level, than anyone, nasty muay thai, great bjj, championship greco, pinpoint striking, with the fASTEST HANDS OF ANY HW, predict he will hold both belts next year, this is going to be the michael jordan of mma, and all you so called experts, who think tim will win, are really going to be shocked, when timmy is knocked out, or submitted in the second round

K-Star, If you look back through my posts, I am among the poeple who think Vera will win this fight, as well as among the people who want to see him win this fight. I was simply explaining the reasoning behind a two-time HW champion going into a fight as an underdog. More money on Vera means better odds for Sylvia to even up the betting. And I can assure there are plenty of people with little to no MMA knowledge placing money on this fight based solely on each fighter’s recent history, which includes several impressive stoppages for Vera and a bad loss and major surgery for Sylvia. Those are facts.

k-star is delusional. vera will be manhandled by big tim.
by larry on Oct 19, 2007 1:28 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I agree with Juanito that Vera will be the HW champ someday, but I find it highly unlikely that he goes undefeated. GSP has more tools than Vera and he got clobbered by Matt freakin’ Serra. Sure he wasn’t 100% mentally there, but that’s part of the fight game.

k-star is delusional. vera will be manhandled by big tim.
And my head instructor is Wayne Weems. Wayne is the best mma fighter on the planet. Dig deep, do some research. He’s going to move up in weight and destroy GSP. And that’s the truth.
Well, actually its not the truth, I made it up. Just because the dude is your master sensei, does not automatically make him the greatest fighter on the planet. The greatest fighter you’ve ever met and rolled with, no doubt, but the best on the planet, no no. Not yet as least…. He has POTENTIAL.

Well, if Tim isn’t the underdog, then those are good odds for betting on him. I think he is the underdog, everyone and their mom thinks that Vera will win impressively, and the funny thing is that they don’t realize everyone else thinks the same thing. Vera is already VERY popular, his fans don’t seem to have realized it though. …Think they’re the only ones who sees the potential of this “prodigy”.
