Im not a Tim fan but, I think the truth is in for a rude awakining. Experience is key to this fight and on top of Tim’s size he clearly has the experience advantage as well.

Matt, I agree completely. I would like to see the looser of Sylvia vs. Verra fight Cro cop. Then we can match up Gonzago vs. either Arlovski or the looser of the Kongo vs. Noguerra fight.

If the ‘old’ Tim really does show up, Vera will find himself in a lot of trouble. Right around the time of the Tre “Half Chest” Telligman destruction, Timmy was a mad man on a tear. You can see the vengence in his eyes. He wanted another shot at the title, badly, and it showed! If THAT Timmy shows up, Vera is in trouble. However, if we get the same old boring Timmy that we’ve grown accustomed to, then I expect Vera to bang out a decision.

The 2 main questions I have going into this fight are:

2) Can Vera KO Timmy?

Timmy has never been KO’d and he has fought against some LARGE and powerful HW’s. I am REALLY rooting for this fight to end via KO – it would be a first for either fighter (getting KO’d).

Rampage’s trainer Juanito sang some very high praises about Verra last night. In my oppinion Juanito is one of the very top trainers in MMA. Juanito clearly stated that Verra will be the Heavyweight Champ of the UFC sometime soon. Which makes me stop and think Verra might really be the truth. At his size, a win over the Giant Sylvia will verify that he belongs at heavyweight.

People seem to forget what an amazing pedigree verra has:
His Greco Roman wrestling his fantastic (I have seen him suplex people right thru the mat).
His Muy Tai is just straight Nasty.
His Ju Jitsu is solid.
He is the much much quicker fighter
He has many more things going for him the Big Tim.

What can we say possitive about Sylvia:
He has a reach advantage over anyone that he will fight
He hits hard
He has webbed feet which help with traction while in the Octagon. Ok, I just made that part up.

Its hard for Big Tim to predict what Verra will do come saturday. On the other hand the whole world knows what Tim will do. He will use his range, and look to land the big Punch. How about Dana white last night talking about Timmy needing to get his hand speed back (as if he possessed Floyd Maywhether type speed in the past)

If I had t6o bet, I would bet Verra, but all it takes is 1 big punch from Sylvia, so who knows? I am very curious to see how this fight ends up.

Vera has been training everywhere during the past year. And he’s been training with the best. He went to Thailand to improve his already great Muay Thai. He went to the Philippines and trained hand-to-hand combat. He went to Big Bear to train with Rampage and Juanito Ibarra. Then he puts it all together with his main trainers, masters Lloyd Irvin and Rob Kaman.

Too bad for Tim that this fight didn’t happen when it was supposed to (before the Couture fight), because I think he was actually better than Brandon then. But Brandon is the better fighter now, and he’ll show it on Saturday.

Either fighter can get KO’d at any time. You don’t have to be the stronger striker to knock somebody out.

Thanks for the insight, Vera is a pure athlete, that is obvious, he’a like a big GSP in that he has a whole tool set of weapons, and this is the type of complete MMA fighter that will hold titles in the future.

What I really like about Silvia is his new training style and new boxing coach… Silvia legitimately has had surgery on his ruptured disc’s and has lost weight… I really like what I see.. Fighting and losing to Randy C. may be the best thing to have happened to him at this point, Tim has lots of experience and has seen some wars in the ring.

GOOD LUCK on winning that 10k bet… I think Vera will win as well… but this will be a much tougher Tim than we’ve see in awhile… Vera will have his work cut out for him and may lose if he over estimates his abilities and under estimates Tim’s.

If Sylvia tries to keep Vera away only with jabs, he will lose. His front leg will be destroyed by Vera’s leg kicks. As long as Sylvia doesn’t check one of Vera’s kicks really well, hurting Vera, Sylvia will take them all night because he isn’t that quick. I would be willing to bet that the Truth is looking to make Sylvia overly cautious about his lead leg so he can look for an opening up top.

Sylvia will undoubtedly be looking for kicks as well as punches since Vera is so well rounded. You can’t just box the Truth and reasonably expect to win.

Vera’s leg and torso are longer than Sylvia’s arms, so a well spaced leg kick will also protect the head from strikes. A proficient kicker can space very well (just think GSP) because it makes it difficult to step into the pocket and do some real damage. Last night during sparring I only boxed against my muay thai partner. I can barely walk today from several really good, hard kicks.

Well, I do see The Truth hurting after this fight.

This is the absolute best thing Tim can do! It doesnt matter if you win or loose, give the crowd a hell of a show, and they will love you and antisipate your fights. Even when Arlovski(the fan favorite that he is) gave a boring fight agaisnt Werdum, the crowd booed his win. No offence to Tim, but he lacks the charisma to not be the wildest, craziest, most expolosive, entertaining fighter out there, this is Tim’s big chance to drop some jaws of his own.

I disagree. First, he has only had 8 pro fights, so he ain’t anything “in the history of mma” except possibly the most overconfident/unproven fighter in the history of mma.

Back in the day, Cro Cop had far more lethal kicks than Vera. Cro Cop is the standard as far as “the best kicks in the history of mma”

Vera does have great knees, but when your talking about the best knees, and in the history of mma. Chute Box is widely know as having the best knees, particularly Wandi. Yeah, Vera has KO’d Fabiano Scherner with a knee, but Wandi has KO’d some of MMA’s best with knees.

what source did you get the juanito, interview, where he makes it very clear, that vera, will be the next HW CHAMPION, that is saying alot, for anyone betting on sykvia to win this fightm this is a HUGE RED FLAG, juanito, has seen him trained, and he is more knowledgeable than, any so called expert, that thinks timmy, has a shot, for anyone that has placed any money, on timmy winning, kiss your money goodbye
