UFCs Randy Couture new fight gear for The Scorpion King: The Akkadian film (Pic)

Former UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture is pictured above on the set of "The Scorpion King: The Akkadian" -- a major motion picture from Universal Studios -- in which he portrays a villian.
"The Natural" recently resigned from the organization from the set in South Africa. His left forearm, which he fractured during his win over Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 74: "Respect" in August, appears to be free of a cast.
There is no timetable for the release of the prequel in theaters.

Randy is great and all… but it looks like he’s just missing a few pins coming out of his head and a puzzle box.

I’m really glad he’s doing a supporting role instead of trying to go the Van Damme route and trying to carry a film all by himself.

That outfit is gayer than the UFC intro. Randy’s still the man though. Even though I’m sure the movie stinks I’m happy to have an action star that’s actually tough for a change.

No Brendan Frasier, No Rachel Weisz, No Rock. Looks like a straight to DVD release to me. It’s better than getting punched in the face for money though. I just dont see Randy having the Charisma to be a star. Tito was a bigger star 2 years ago with more charisma and he got to do such blockbusters as “The Crow: Wicked Prayer”…I hope he’s saved his money.

Yeah, you are totally right. Why would he leave a job where he stands a good chance of getting injured for six figures and instead take part in a movie where he gets to see another part of the world, try something new and earn seven figures?
Randy should have kept fighting. He definitely had at least another 10 to 15 years left in him. All he is going to accomplish now is getting more money, more recognition to the individual fighters and more clout when negotiating for his fighters.
By the way, did Dana White ask you to post this comment?

Folks, let’s be reasonable. Besides we die-hard fans, Couture unfortunately fades into oblivion without the UFC. At least he goes down as a Hall of Famer, so he won’t disappear from the MMA lexicon like a lot of guys from the early days. But Couture stops being a household name for long aside from his UFC connection.

I agree with everybody who says that couture should be the next pres. of the ufc. But… why not like the vice pres. or something? Also couture was the best commentater they had. Joe Rogan needs to be executed for his gaping whole of a mouth.
Cant wait to Buy Randy Couture action figure…

I saw the pic before I read the headline and thought what the f**k, randy got caught wearing some weird bondage gear LOL, then read the headline. You can be sure most MMA fans will be watching this movie, I know I will. You just never know with randy he may be back in the octagon fighting for the title again when he’s 50.

But “I” think his excuse for retiring is incredibly lame! sorry
Why was it lame? Think about it.
At 45 years old, who else does he need to fight to prove his greatness? If he were to lose to up and coming heavy weight contenders such as Kongo, Nog, or anyone else…thoses losses would only bring down Randy’s business and fight marketability.
If he were to win against those guys, his legend would be the same as it was after beating Gonzaga. The ONLY fight that would sky rocket his already awesome rep is FEDOR. Win or lose, it would probably be the biggest fight in MMA history.
And mentally, do you think Randy would have more hunger fighting FEDOR or fighting up and comers month after month.
Also, Randy was only making like 300k/fight. With his role in the new Scorpion King movie, I’m sure he’s making bigger dollar without having to risk breaking his nose, arm, or neck.
His popularity and marketability is about as high as it gets right now…

Please no one change the ufc intro- its perfect the way it is. That said, what the f@%$? Is this a joke? I guess Ill have to see the movie to really have an opinion but, wow, that outfit is something!! It looks like someone superimposed Randy’s head on a ninja turtles foot clan action figure. I agree with Nathan, Randys looks like a good guy, I have trouble seeing him pulling off a bad ass. Maybe like the unsuspected kiddy diddler role he could do, or the nice guy with dark secrets role, you know the one he plays in real life, j/k (I hope)Seriously, all I can say I hope this isnt as shitty as it looks like it will be.

Randy is putting himself and his family first, whats wrong with that. There are some seriously selfish fans out there getting pissed because he doesn’t want to hang around for a few more years getting his face smashed in and his body beaten up just for your veiwing pleasure. Damn show a bit more appreciation for the man and what he’s accomplished and for some of the amazing fights he has put on. Anything can happen in this sport because it is dangerous, he could find himself with an injury that puts him out of work permanently. At his age he really does need to start thinking of himself. If something bad was to happen, those same people who are dissing him now would be saying why didn’t he quit while he was ahead or why didn’t he retire sooner. I am really amazed at some of the selfish comments after all this guy has done. Unreal.
