Send Franklin back to teaching math.
Come on Franklin is going to win. By decision…If not the middlewieght division is going to be boring.

This program is also set to rerun at least four times during the PPV, just to make sure you don’t forget who you’re paying to see.

Insain – "these 2 fights are the best on a card in a very long time "
Terrible statement considering we just saw Forrest vs Shogun.
You must be Insain. Or you havent watched any cards this year.
I hope that was a joke?
Did you already forget about Randy in August vs Gonzaga?

If you say so. The Silva/Franklin fight will be fun to watch just to see what kind of ass whooping Silva gives Rich. Me and a bunch of Guys at work got a pool going on how fast it ends. They should have given it this name.

Where’s my pen? I’m gonna write a “Get Well Soon” card for Franklin…
How can you bet against Silva? Before you all start quoting this and sucking on Rich’s ballsack, seriously watch the first fight again… F**k it, watch all his fights…
Rich is a cool guy and may not have “been himself” last time, but he is a stand-up fighter that loves to strike and look for the KO. Too bad he’s gonna try and do that to (arguably) the best striker in MMA.

please this card should be free its so week
I smell a weak UFC fan because…
- Franklin/Silva will be an exciting knockout either way and if Rich wins it’ll be one of the biggests fights of the year.
- Vera/Sylvia is a fight that I have been dreaming about for over a year now and makes the entire PPV price worth it for me.
- If you weren’t completely impressed with Kalib Starnes in his upset win over “The Crippler” Chris Leben on his last fight then you aren’t easily impressed. He was a completely different fighter than he was on TUF.
- MacDonald/Okami (probably won’t be aired) should be great as well.

I THINK RICH IS GOINGTO WIN AND DO THE SAME THING ANDERSON DID TO HIM LAST TIME THEY FOUGHT. RICH IS A SMART AND I AM SURE AND HE IS NOT GONNA LET HIS FANS DOWN HE KNOWS HE HAS TO WIN NO MATTER WHAT.I LIKE BOTH FIGHTERS,BUT I DONT LIKE CHAMPS TO LAST FOREVER.

Silva has a 80 % chance of finishing this fight I think, he’s a finisher. Franklin is just Dana’s little child and he get’s spoiled rotten anytime he asks. Franklin will fight anytime its in (or Near) Cincinatti. Liddell, Franklin, hughes, Timmy, they all suck Dana’s *! Sure glad Nobody likes Franklin, he doesn’t deserve a whole lot, nevermind a spot in the Hall Of Fame. His brains and charm do nothing for me, and the belt should be be around someone who’s dedicated a lot more time to M A, not to someone who’s been training a few years, He’ll be back in Math Class Soon!

He probably won’t win because Silva is too damn good. But you’re right, it does make the division boring.

The only bad thing about this fight is that I can’t be there live. Randy vs Gonzaga was nuts, but these two fights are going to be crazy good!
Rich will build off what Lutter did to Silva on the ground. If Lutter had skills and the power in his ground game, he would have finished him in that triangle.
War Rich champ agian. War Vera stomping Sylvia into retirement!

I predict Rich by TKO (via GnP) in the third and Vera by triangle choke in the second. The UFC is going through a bit of a rough period right now and wins by both of these guys would provide the promotion with some spark.

by Hoodlum on Oct 16, 2007 9:49 PM EDT reply actions
Franklin will upset Silva and win by decision. Brandon will win by TKO or decision.
Brandon will have a tough fight on his hands, this isn’t a washed up Frank Mir, this is the former Champ. Tim Silvia is one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC. People like KOS have had more attention, and based on the fact he was schooled by GSP everyone jumped off his wagon. I digress.
Like others have said, Franklin is a Master Game plan fighther and will not make the same mistakes.

Okami-McDonald has to be the 5th fight shown live, right? UFC.com is saying only 4 will be televised but not Okami-McDonald.
Of course wouldn’t it be nice if they just showed every fight anyway?! Charge me an extra $2/undercard fight (UFC On Demand prices) built into the PPV cost and I’m in. Maybe that option could help go towards – ya know – paying fighters their actual worth.

I’m surprised at how fit Sylvia looked on the countdown show, especially considering that was several weeks ago. My $100 bet on him at 170 is looking pretty good.

I’m going with Franklin, and the fact he’s been studying Silva… the fight has to go to the ground… GnP is his only strategy, however, I didn’t see him practice any wrestling… he’d better be able to take silva down or he’s done. There is nothing better to watch than a great comeback.
Sylvia, I was really impressed with his new workout, cycling seems like a good addition. He looked sharp.
I have to go with Vera here, he is just a really good athlete, he’s the future, he needs to puts on some muscle though.

What about Dan Henderson? How could the addition of Dan Henderson be boring? Also once Bisping loses his next fight, he will be going down in weight. Where maybe he can actually make some waves. I think there mayave to be a few 205’s that may have to consider coming down a notch with all that is in the weight class now.

Does anyone ever recall in any MMA match anyone ever being so owned in a Thai Clench like Franklin was by Silva? Franklin has never fought a more complete fighter then Silva. Evan Tanner might be the closest thing to a complete fighter that he has on his record in the UFC, and we all know how bad Evan was(living the rock star life as a fighter doesn’t work). His win over Okami was lackluster and really showed no improvement IMO. His stand up does not compare to Silva nor does his ground game. Silva’s bjj is way to good, Franklin will end up making a mistake trying to wrestle or ground and pound him out. His best bet and the only way I see him winning is a Flash Knock Out or the good ole lay and pray. I think Silva wins this by TKO in the 3rd. I think Franklin will make this one more interesting but he is far from being complete enough to beat Silva in anyway but flash knockout.

Franklin’s brains and charn do nothing for you and your intelect do nothing for this forum. At 160-185ish Franklin is basically a 3 point underdog in football wagering terms. That is “slightly” better than your 80% calculation.

How to save the middleweight devision:
- Convince Dan Henderson to drop back to MW
- UFC vs WEC Exhibition Fight: Anderson Silva vs Paulo Filho (why is he WEC anyway?!?)
- Offer a stupid amount of money to Dennis Kang
- Bisping dropping to 185 would add some interest

I say Franklin fights Marquardt if he losses to Silva again. Outside of that, as far as career longevity is concerned, Franklin should give 205 another try.

What is with all of this dislike for Franklin? When Franklin was the champion and beating opponents like Tanner and Loiseau (did you see him after that fight?), I’m sure everyone was saying that Franklin is great and so on. I know that Silva is on a different level than the names mentioned above but to just say that Franklin is out based on a fight that occured last year is not looking at the whole picture. Silva is beatable we all know that and his record knows that. Lutter demonstrated the weaknesses in Silva. He was taking him down like it was a joke.
Franklin will not be submitted by Silva’s jits game. He is too good to get caught in a triangle. I would have liked to have seen a healthy Lutter with proper weight cutting against Silva.
Franklin is an incredibly intelligent fighter who has studied Silva’s game for a full year. Expect to see a whole new Franklin against Silva on Saturday and don’t simply believe the snapshot that was taken on Oct 14, 06. On any given night you will see two completely different fighters.
Expect to see Franklin take Silva down and go for elbows and strikes while working for position. He will wear Silva down and he will not be caught in any submissions. Franklin has never been caught in a submission. His ground game while on top will do plenty of damage to Silva. Franklin via TKO.

I agree, everyone seems to have already given Silva the win. I really don’t think it will go down that way. You are a fool to think this fight will end like the first match up. Silva’s take down defense is suspect, and I have yet to see what his if he can take some serious GnP. If anyone currently in the in the MW division can beat Silva it’s Franklin. If the Franklin that fought Loiseau shows up, we will have a fight!

“Filho and Silva will never fight each other, they’re really good friends”
I wouldn’t be so sure. They are friends but it seemed like from what they were saying that they would do it for the right price. And that goes for almost all fighters in MMA who are friends- money makes their decisions for them and sure they don’t prefer to fight their friends but if the money’s there the fighters will follow. You might not see Ninja vs. Shogun anytime soon, but I definitely think Filho vs. Silva is a possibility and I would love to see it. As for Franklin getting destroyed again or not, I think people are forgetting that the first fight wasn’t on the ground, and Rich could probably take it there at will, so this next fight may be very different, and sure Anderson is well rounded but we’ve only seen him beat Rich in one way. If Rich has the right gameplan the fight will look nothing like the first one. Even if Silva still wins.

All I was saying is some guys can take a hit, some cannot. Some fighter can take abuse. Silva’s smallish/thin frame and particularly the small size of his head make me think he cannot. It’s hillarious that you think Silva is unbeatable. I believe Henderson could manhandle him as well.
