Oh my god I cant freaking wait. Ive been waiting for this rematch for some time now. This is gonna be glorious to watch Franklin get destroyed in front of his home crowd. Anderson all the way!!!

Geez, I’m really not getting excited for this event. The November card is even worse. I wonder if I’ll still be a fan by the time December finally roll around! LOL

I was just about to ask if anyone is getting excited for this event. Then I saw the post that went up the same time as mine:

Wow, settle down there before you make this thread all sticky.

I have to agree with Mike. It seems the cards peaked early in the year. THey need to sign the rest of the top talent so that they have enough big guns that they can stack the cards year round.

Still need:
Denis Kang
Fedor
Lil’ Nog
Arona
Sakurai
Gomi
Mark Hunt
Ninja Rua
Soukujou (I dont know how to spell it)
Lindland
Aoki
etc. (I am definitely missing a bunch)

I wouldn’t put any money on that bet. Franklin all the way. Unfortunately for Silva. He can move down to WW after this though. Silva Vs Serra!

..Why would Silva..want to drop to 170..when he has thus far dominated the MM division. In 4 UFC matches.. he is 4-0. 3 first round KO’s..1 second round submission. The former WW UFC Champ Matt Hughes is talking..if Rich can’t get it done..he’ll move up in wait to challenge Silva.

If you don’t know it yet..Anderson Silva is as close to the best pound per pound fightert in the world today. He is staying at 185..and before you know will be considered the best MM Champ of all time.. Plz don’t tell that it’s Rich..cuz he had only 2 title defenses..before Silva broke him up.

Once you get past Silva and Franklin that division is like the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Devil Rays of the UFC.

I’m excited, it’s a pretty good card.

Don’t be upset because it’s not a “perfect card”. We can’t get stacked cards all the time, but I agree that maybe it would be better if official UFC events always includes top tier fighters, and “Ultimate Fight Nights”, happened a little more frequently. IE Like boxing does.

Unfortunately what will happen is this. Franklin will beat Silva this time. His next match will be the winner of MacDonald/Okami -> which will be Okami. So Silva’s next match will be VS Okami (who already has 1 win over silva eventhough due to illegal move) After facing these two losses the once ever dominant Silva will have 2 choices 1) 170lbs or 2) WEC

I’m tired of people complaining about the fight cards. Usally the fights you think are going to suck are off the hook and the fights you think will be wars are little more than junior high schoolers in their first fights.

I think the MW division is in a mess, but I still think there are good fights out there. I’d like to see David Terrell run right through Ed Herman next month and get back on the top contender track.

I think they put the possible dark light on the Macdonald Okami fight because it has the potential to put everyone to sleep if they both stick to their usual gameplans of starting slow. The fighters in the UFC need to know by now, It’s not all about winning, its about looking good for the crowd. Just like in Gladiator what did they keep saying “Win the crowd” can’t do that if you’re dancing around the ring the whole fight or laying on the ground humping.

by getrawbc on Oct 8, 2007 3:31 PM EDT reply actions

This is the type of fight cards that you get when the UFC leaves Vegas. They use the approach of “returning to NJ for the 1st time in 20 odd years (or however long)” and the “Cincinnati kid fighting in his home town” to sellout the arena. And it works. MMA is so much different than other sports, like another poster said, you really dont know when 2 “unknown” fighters are going to pull out the FOTN performance.

I can see where people are upset at the NJ event due to the lack of highly ranked fighters on the card.

by muto on Oct 8, 2007 4:55 PM EDT reply actions

Looking forward to the main event. Silva is a monster but I’m pulling for Franklin. Am I the only one excited about the return of Vera? That dude is exciting to watch. Doesn’t seem to matter how big they are, he gets it done as a smaller HW, brings the technique.

I have to agree. This is the first time in a while that I’ve debated with myself whether or not I’m going to buy the PPV.

Maybe we’re getting too spoiled by the big cards the UFC has been putting out earlier this year. I guess they raised the bar pretty high for themselves.

The Silva fight has the potential to be one sided while the Sylvia fight has the potential of being kind of boring. The other matches are kind of mostly filled with B levelers (by UFC standards).

weak card for sure. I know some of the small name fights turn out great… but the hope is not selling ppv’s. I wont order this event, although the franklin silva fight is gonna be sick i think.
78 is really shaping up though, especially if they can get KOS on that card to take place of lombard. KOS vs KARO can really put into perspective the WW division. Fisher is very exciting to watch, and so is ed herman. Herman tylrell has FOTN possibilities. AHH! to bad i cant order it though cause i refuse to support Michael Bisping. I want the UFC to feed him to Houston Alexander so his mouth can be shut……………………..wired shut.

Did anyone hear about Clementi vs. the return of the Young Assassin on the Dec 29 card?

by JRV on Oct 8, 2007 6:25 PM EDT reply actions

UFC 77 does seem a bit lackluster if, like me, you expect Silva to dominate Franklin (and the division) once again. But it’s still head a shoulders above UFC 78 which is pretty mun a non-event. Bisping vs Evans in the main event?? Get serious.

by No1Dad on Oct 8, 2007 6:50 PM EDT reply actions

I’m confused on the actual time of the weigh ins! The UFC site says 7pm EST but then also says 3-5 EST. So I’m asking is the weigh ins going to be at 3 or 7 EST. I’m planning on going and would just like to know. Hope someone can help me out!

i can not see anyway that this fight is going to Franklin. Rich might be all pumped up and look like the meanest looking motherfucker in the world walking down to the octagon with his boys but when he gets in there and sees Silva staring him down it’s gonna be a whole other ball game. He’s gonna be staring at the man that laid down one of the biggest beatdowns in UFC history. I’ve seen better knockouts before of course. But to a champion? Never. When he looks at Silva he’s gonna have flashbacks of knees to the body, broken ribs, and his nose sitting somewhere by his ear. This isn’t football or baseball. Homefield is not an advantage in this fight. I hope Rich’s wife doesn’t come this time. If she does there will be 2 people crying at ringside. Her and Dana!!!

I would definately like to see them sign Kang and of course Fedor. Kang would shake up things for sure, and it wouldnt hurt to get some of these other fighters to add some more depth in some of the weaker divisions.

Now to the Main Event. Franklin should just not show up. He is gonna get embarassed again. If he didnt show he would at least have some of his fans saying “If he would have fought Silva again he would have beat him” instead of “Damn Rich got killed!” or “Did you see what happened to Franklin! Maybe he should go back up to LH”(Like it would really make a difference)like they will be saying after UFC 77. I like Franklin but I cant see any way he can win besides sheer luck. Oh and The Truth is gonna destroy Tim the lame-n-wack Silvia and I cant wait.

I hope that silva breaks franklins nose again, but i can see an upset this fight, if it goes to decision, seems like the home town fights get favoured happend to bisbing and hamill.. Should be a good fight though, and the truth will win, BUT i can see silvia connecting with a punch cuz of his reach advantage, and if it does connect then its lights out for the truth.

I think Franklin has a better chance than a lot of people are giving him. I mean. If I had to put money, I’d still go with Anderson Silva. But I think Franklin is going to come in a little smarter this time.

I think people are completely taking Franklins “fear” of Anderson Silva out of proportion.

Also, I’m taking Big Timmy over Vera in this one. I think Big Timmy’s record is a lot better than Vera’s (I mean, competition and experience wise). I’m surprised the odds are stacked in Vera’s favour.

.I agree with the november card(not looking good at all).
But I am looking forward to the next card. The FRANKLIN/SILVA
rematch should be a great fight, and not to mention I have been waiting for VERA’s return for a while now. I am a big VERA fan, and have been for a long time, and for them to put him up agianst SYLVIA is a great fight(prob the fight of the night) hopefully he win’s and adds another former Champ to his resume.

The UFC has hooked up some of the best cards in ‘07.
It is very disapointing to see the Jersy card with not that many good fights, and a horrible choice for the ’main event’.
But with how many PPV, fight/night live’s, and FREE amazing fights I have got to see i will let the Jersy card slide and wait for the December card(witch is probably going to be the best card of the year)

the jersey card looks sick, beside the main event. fisher is very exciting, ed herman david terrell is a sick fight. Houston Alexander is fighting. And josh koscheck is taking the place of hector lombard due to his lack of a U.S. Visa(most likely)…. if KOS is added this card is gonna be full of wars.. however, i will honestly turn off the PPV before the main event. My two least liked fighters.

by Phil on Oct 9, 2007 1:44 PM EDT reply actions

I find it amusing that some fans think a fighter can just drop down a weight class or 2 (most fighters can’t)… It’s like a pre-fight before a fight. Many fighters don’t necessarily fight better at a lower weight class after the 2nd round.

That is ridiculous. Silva dominated Okami and lost because he knocked him out with an illegal upkick! No way would Okami beat him. I want Rich to win but it will be tough for him. No one has come close to challenging him yet. Not sure what planet you live on.

Unfortunately what will happen is this. Franklin will beat Silva this time. His next match will be the winner of MacDonald/Okami -> which will be Okami.
