Andrei Arlovski to appear as 'Celebrity Guest Bouncer' on Jerry Springer show

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will appear on an upcoming episode of the Jerry Springer show as a "Celebrity Guest Bouncer," according to a recent press release.
And no he is not there to reprise the role of Steve Wilkos.
"The Pitbull" will promote on of his biggest sponsors, SOYO (an innovative provider of computer and consumer electronics products).
During the episode, which will air tomorrow (Wednesday), September 26, 2007, a lucky audience member will be randomly chosen to receive a 42" Pit Bull Series SOYO LCD HDTV.
Here's a snip from the champ:
"I love Chicago and did not know Jerry Springer filmed here. When I was asked to be a special guest on the show, it sounded like it could be fun for me and my fans. I am glad to see that SOYO got to participate in the fun as well and Jerry gave away one of my Pit Bull Series TVs as well."
Arlovski has not competed since his unanimous decision win over Fabricio Werdum at UFC 70 in April. It has been reported that contract negotiations (he has one fight remaining on his current deal) have kept him on the sidelines for the better part of 2007.
Check local listings for times and channels to catch Arlovski on Jerry Springer tomorrow.

AA should be fighting in the next three months or so.
Dana had said that in his ufc76 post interviews. i hope they give him someone good, and i hope he is coming in better then last time.. i want to see the old AA..if he comes out cold i think the ufc should let him go.{this is his last fight on his contract}

I think it is a bad move on AA part to get exposure on the Jerry Springer Show..What will he accomplish in the short or long term..Let’s keep MMA professional..not talk show comical.

We can’t expect Andrei’s life to be completely revolving around the UFC. The guys needs to let loose, too. Maybe he will have a good time. Good for him. After Randy retires; he will be the champ!

Arlovski on Jerry Springer?
What’s next, a “Who’s my Baby’s Daddy?” episode of Maury Povich, where 6 different woman come on the show claiming that Quinton Rampage Jackson is the father of thier children?
PS. I really hope that no one is planning on watching this…

Maury: “And the paternity test reveals that, Rampage, you are NOT the father”
Rampage: “OHWWWW OHWWWWW OHWWWWW OHHWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!” (sidenote: that’s my spelling of Rampage’s howl)
Some random woman (while crying): “I only slept with 7 other men 9 months before my baby was born”

Is this a good look for MMA/UFC ??
Honestly guys:
I think any press for the UFC anymore is good exposure. Think how many people watch the jerry springer show? You may think a low number but its been on the air forever and has lasted longer than most sit-coms. When people see this they may want to find out what this “UFC thing” is all about and there you go, another fan or two… or thousand or 10 thousand. Think about it. I KNOW AA is a bad ass and the fact he is going on some slap stick show does not change his image in my eyes nor does it change the FACT he is an ass kicker.. UFC is growing everywhere, Its on out TV, on our radios, on the internet and soon well have Randy C. Rice Chex cereal…

maybe if his life revolved a little more around the UFC, he would get back to his “PITBULL” ways and stop trying to grind out decisions, and then maybe Dana would give him a better fight than whoever the last dude he fought was!
AA has as much of a chance at wearing gold as Andy Wang!

He should fight Mirko Cro Cop, that guy has lost a couple of fights recently, and AA would fight the kind of fight that could make him shine again. Let’s see who is really washed up.

Any publicity is good publicity! Even when SHerk tested postive for steriods it was covered nationally by the press and got the attention of alot of people including non mma fans. They found themselves following the story. AA will dominate again at some point he is too talented to just wash up. Well Fedor says he is one of the best in the world but I guess us bloggers know something that the top ranked Heavy in the world who fights mma for a living doesn’t. Check mate us!

Just Pray that Andrei shows the Jerry Springer fans some excitement.
Because when some guy tries to attack Andrei, Andrei will circle around, thow a jab, throw a kick, circle, circle, circle jab, miss kick, and repeat for another 13 minutes winning a split decision.

i agree. why dosen’t dana put more money into a.a.’a proven comodity, instead of dumping all the money into some of the former pride fighters who up till now dont deserve it. i think a.a should fight c.c., big nog, or congo and get well paid

i agree AA is not washed up,
but he has been hot/cold for a while now. his last fight he was cold, so hopefully he comes in ready next fight,
Dana already said he will be fighting soon.
But to say the UFC needs a HW champ after Randy,
i think your crazy if you think, AA is the next Champ??
no way!!
AA could if he is fighting like he used too, but he hasn’t shown that yet.
personally i think Brandon Vera will be the next champ,,
not positive, cause anything can happen in this crazy sport,
But i think he has what it takes..
if he works on his cardio he can be champ,.Vera is used to winning in round 1, and admits he gasses early.
but even without the cardio, i think he can KO anyone in the first round,,all the way from Tank to the top of the chain Randy or Fedor

Ive wanted to see that fight for about 5 years!!!
and i think it’s perfect timing to have that bout.
AA been on somewhat of a slump, and cro cop, …well we all know his situation.
So put it together, Arolvski vs Mirko!!! would love to see it.

hey im not saying it was a great performance, but “the last dude he fought” was no joke!! Werdum is a great bjj fighter..
not alot of people knew Werdum, but the all around mma fans,,ie pride,elite,KOTC,bodog,CFF,ect.. and all the rest know these “dudes”,and how good they are,
AA had trouble with Werdum, and probably should have done better, it was far from a great fight, but to win a Decision agianst Werdum isn’t easy.

HUH? I don’t think that it was covered by the press at the extent you claim; at least not around here (CT). I know people that watch every single UFC PPV, and read the sports section of the newspaper on a daily basis, and they did not know about the steroids suspension until I told them. If you’re not on the internet looking for info on Sean Sherk or watching a UFC event, you’re not going to hear/see the name Sean Sherk.

You did not just mention the ‘UFC HW Championship’ and ‘Tank’ in the same paragraph, did you?
Tank hasn’t fought in the UFC for 4 years – since November ’03. But, maybe you thought that he was good or well-rounded or something. He was only on a 4 fight losing streak in the UFC a the time.
If Tank Abbott’s ugly mug is even shown in the crowd of a UFC event, he would be getting more MMA exposure than he currently deserves.

Actually I live in Canada and am kinda new to mma and it got national coverage on TSN here which is the top sport network in our country and it caught my attention. It was also aired on numerous other networks espn, CNN that are both nationally creditted in the states I would think…….so kinda can’t agree with that comment.

Seriously though, this stunt is not the image I’d expect UFC to go for. Sounds more like a WWE publicity stunt. I hope Dana doesn’t come out from behind some curtain and challege AA to a ladders and chairs match.

What, did you actually think that Arlovski was thinking about quitting fighting in the UFC to be a bouncer on the Springer Show? Of course its not to be taken too seriously – its Jerry F’n Springer!
Where the hell do I state that AA is quitting to be a full time bouncer??? People were making a huge deal out of it, so I reminded them it was kind of a lark. You obviously are new or don’t pay too much attention around here, no one is a bigger AA fan than me.

2003 ARLOVSKI vs. ANYONE now = the Demise of Anyone. YES, that includes FEDOR and Randy. 2007 Arlovski vs. FEDOR = Destruction of the Fighter Formerly Known as the Pitbull. I think Arlovski is probably my favorite figher of all time. But, the throat punch from the giant has ruined him, hopefully temporarily. AA used to fight with the same aggression as Wanderlei Silva, but with more technical striking and footwork. Now, he still has the footwork, but the aggression has transformed into TIM-idness and he wants to destroy guys, but he knows his chin is made of crystal. This my friends, is one of the sadest realities of UFC/MMA history. It’s just too bad. That being said, AA vs. CC is perfect, for we all know CC too has a breakable chin. and both need this lift.
