I love it. One more big fight and it could be the best of the year. Kos should fight Fitch for #2 contender @ 170. There for you know who is in line to fight GSP after he brings the belt back to Canada.

silva might fight tito now
kos vs fitch maybe
bj will fight big daddy
really good card compared to oct and nov.

by bryant on Oct 4, 2007 7:07 PM EDT reply actions

kos and fitch are not going to fight each other, they’ve already said that…i could see them changing their minds maybe if it was for the belt, but even then i’m not sure…kos might fight like marcus davis or someone like that

by tha spida on Oct 5, 2007 4:08 PM EDT reply actions

marcus davis i heard will be fighting in the newcastle card in jan i heard

by bryant on Oct 6, 2007 12:42 AM EDT reply actions

I’d like to see Davis against KOS and Parysian against Fitch. I’m sure Diego will get his rematch against Josh first, seeing as how they both just lost a decision. I don’t see Swick going far in this division.

by PACO on Oct 9, 2007 7:13 PM EDT reply actions

koshchek and fitch will never fight each other. they are traing partners for every fight.

Hendo vs. Griffin would be a good one to see. Bryant, where did you hear that Silva and Tito would fight? Anyone know if Couture is fighting the winner of Silvia and Vera, or are they holding out for Fedor?

rich and melvin fight should be intresting, i dont really like ethier of them, rich acts so stuck up on tv and everyone knows melvin is… haha. i didnt mind rich but his last fight, when antoni went to touch gloves, rich almost kicks him in the balls hahaha (kinda cheap, even know they in a fight)i wont be upset when ethier of these guys looses

if lidell doesn’t take the silva fight but know that it seems like he will, tito won’t fight till next year. maybe against hendo.
i heard that the bj penn match might get pushed back to early next year
the fight card doesn’t need the match with silva, lidell and the serra vs hughes match. i think dana is planning on having equal amounts of good main event cards for next coming events next year and not have the screw up cards in cincy or jersey this year. they are not that exciting but to me it seems like dana gives vegas the good ones and everywhere else crappy fights.

Looks like Matt is pulling out all the stops to beat Serra. He has even pumped up his nutritionals. Came across his testimonial on a nutritox site. What’s up with that?

I hope that the Muscle Shark is cleared. he’s an animal and would destroy Joe Stevenson any day of the week . Sherk V Penn…..WHADDA FIGHT!!!
The Hughes V Serra fight I’d say will be good. But whoever wins will get thur ass handed to em by GSP. GSP is gonna dominate for the next year I’d say. Hughes is good….but he ain’t gettin any younger

How can you possibly say kos should fight for #1 contender when he lost his last fight!

If anything parisan should get the shot. Or the winner of chonan/parisan fights fitch. But koscheck, HA! So much of a farce it will probably happen!

Since when does a couple of good fights on a card not good?

A: You work for UFC or live in a city with a shitty main card.

Why: Beacause fans will order the card with the good fights and then when the next couple suck, we don’t order.

The big fights will always stay in vegas-that is where the betting and bribery and match fixing take place my friend :)

You know what? I wish Bj would fight GSP so he can get his ass handed to him. BJ Penn is nothing but an arrogant bastard. You don’t need to see much of him to realize that. He is a great fighter, BUT ATTITUDE GOES A LONG WAY. PLEASE QUIT TALKING ABOUT BJ PENN.

Since Couture resigned, is the Vera v. Silvia fight for the interim title?

by Chad on Oct 20, 2007 6:25 PM EDT reply actions

Not showing the Okami-McDonald fight and Burkman-Petz fight was a tragedy. Showing Gurgel and Jensen losing fights instead was comic. Without those 2 fights, I don’t feel I got my 40 bucks worth. Watching Spider Silva fight is amazing, and Franklin lasted longer this time, but the Vera-Silvia fight was boring, unfortunately, leaving the overall card very dissappointing. Anybody think the 40 bucks was worth it? Anybody think the Bisping-Evans UFC event will be any better?

by UFCAddict on Oct 21, 2007 12:12 PM EDT reply actions

The New Jersey card may be even weaker than the one that just took place in Cincy. I heard the winner of Bisping-Evans may get a title shot. The UFC may go out of business if that is the case. Just because everyone wants to go out and party in Las Vegas following their fights, doesn’t mean other cards should get the shaft. Dana White is simply “showing face” by coming to NJ just to say hey guys “i got you a UFC event in Jersey” … Ain’t foolin anybody pal !

by bryant on Oct 22, 2007 12:52 PM EDT reply actions

Why not go to Atlantic City? it’s Jersey and it’s about 3 or 4 hours from NYC.

by Reality on Oct 23, 2007 11:44 PM EDT reply actions

Here’s what I don’t get and I’m sort of a new fan…why is it so hard to have a fight card without a decent fight? Dana owns the rights to all of these great fighters, and they ALL want to fight anyone they can, and most of them want to fight as bigtime a fight as possible. So why not create those fights? Why does it seem so hard? Does he have some kind of authoritarian taskmaster telling him that every so often you need to have a really boring card? It makes no sense. The great combinations of fights is endless, and Bisping/Evans is the best he could come up with as a main event? I feel like I’m missing something. 79 looks pretty awesome though.

Should have saved karo for kos matchup in december and put fitch up against ryo..either way im really excited for 78&79, hopefully i think Wand is gunna put liddell into retirement..no 08’ for the iceman

I hope you don’t actually think that fight is going to be a non televised undercard bout. Whoever wrote that just means it’s not the headliner. It’s going to be the fight right before Matt vs Matt.

by leroy on Oct 28, 2007 6:28 AM EDT reply actions

I would imagine Silva will put the final nail in Chucks coffin. Silva training with Randy doesnt bod well for anyone the axemurder goes up against.

I agree Karo vs Kos would have been Icing on the cake.

I honestly think for the hw and -155 title they should spread the bouts for two events. Considering the titles are vacant.

Example…
Show name = Genesis
KONGO vs Arlovski
SILVA Vs Gabriel Gonzaga
BJ PENN Vs Kenny Florian
Joe Stevenson Vs Nate Diaz
Debut Cro-cop vs Brock Lesnar
Debut Cory Hill vs Joe Lauzon

Show name = Revelations
Winner of Kongo & Arlovski VS Winner of Silva & GG
Loser of Kongo & Arlovski VS Loser of Silva & GG
Winner of Penn & KFLO vs WInner of Stevenson & Diaz
Loser of Penn & KFLO vs Loser of Stevenson & Diaz
Spencer Fisher vs Diego Sanchez
Karo Parisyan vs Mike Swick

honestly i think they are holding out till the sean sherk hearing on oct 31 to figure out when the bj penn fight will land in dec are pushed to feb.

it’s been a while since they last announced a fight for this card

by bryant on Oct 29, 2007 11:23 AM EDT reply actions

Ok well this is definitely what should happen right now in the welterweight division. Obviously Parisyan vs. Chonan (Flying scissor heel hook pt. 2) Whats next you ask? Josh Koscheck vs…….. Marcus Davis. Yes sir. 5 Wins in a row deserves to be looked at. The two winners fight each other and the winner of that fight, fights the winner of GSP vs. Serra/Hughes

nope if you watch closely at agression take downs and octagon control GSP won, BJ landed more shots that hurt GSP but he didnt take him down nore imposse his will so therefore GSP won by taking him down, controlling positions, striking, etc….

Where are the other 2 fights on this card, I would think that they would both be on the main card. I wouldn’t watch this PPV so far. Stop focusing on 80 and 81 and give us something more for 79.

by ufcaddict on Nov 14, 2007 4:38 AM EST reply actions

What’s the deal with the lack of heavyweight fights, I don’t understand what the UFC is doing with that division. They have all these great heavyweights and we are lucky to get one heavyweight fight on a card. Meanwhile, we get a million 155, 170, and 185 pound fights. And after the good first three main card fights, we are left with fights that aren’t that interesting and the dudes fighting them are not top tier. Even with all the pride influx, we still get tuf down the throat

by Joel on Nov 15, 2007 1:16 PM EST reply actions

I hope Matt Hughes beats the shit out of that big mouth midget Serra, I cant stand dudes voice he sounds like a you know what, anyways Sokudju is a bad mnother but so is Lyoto Machida bothe of these Kids can beat Anderson Silva i dont know if their in the same weight class but their bothe bad assess i wouldnt one of them becomes a champ soon.

What a crock of shit! Every other Ultimate Fighter Show that put up the two coaches against each other put it on Spike for free. Now because it is a huge money making oppertunity it is a PPV.

BJ should have won against GSP. And, this card has big names, having 4 of the top 10 light heavys in the world.

Matt Serra pulled out with back injury

by markg on Nov 23, 2007 5:50 AM EST reply actions

This doesn’t change anything. Matt Serra always had 0% chance to win. Only a matter of time.

by LouisN on Nov 23, 2007 10:07 AM EST reply actions

BJ Penn should not have won against GSP. It was a typical BJ fight. He looked great in the first round then gassed. GSP won rounds 2 and 3.

Serra pulling out is a shame. I didn’t like his chances to win, but I think it would have been a much more competitive fight than some people were expecting.

by KMac on Nov 23, 2007 2:37 PM EST reply actions

Even without the pathetic Hughes vs. Serra fight, this card is great ‘cos of Wandy vs. Liddell, Lyoto vs. Sokoudjou & methinks Manny G will also put on a show. However, I hope they do add another worthy fight onto this card, e.g. GSP vs. Fitch or even Napao vs. Arlovski…I’ll bet on Napao beating The Pitbull

by DeathbyHighKick on Nov 30, 2007 11:44 PM EST reply actions

“Matt Hughes is the best champ the U.F.C. has or ever will see.”

Um….no. Randy Couture holds that place. No doubt Hughes has made an impact (though he appears to be an arrogant, no-personality bastard), but RC has made a much bigger impact. Seriously…titles in 2 weight classes, and how many belts over how many years in the UFC? AND he has been an incredible ambassador for MMA and the UFC. No contest. Plus, I think GSP hands Hughes’ ass to him as he departs the octagon.

Who cares about Tito…..he’s finished. His ground and pound game is tired and out of date. He needs a new bag of tricks…..maybe start with some better cardio so he doesn’t keep gassing after the first round.

by Jeramy on Dec 14, 2007 9:35 AM EST reply actions

Jeramy, you summmed up my feelings on Tito, he hasnt been good for years.
I cant wait for this fight. I want to see Wandy & Chuck, MattH and GSP, and Sokoudjou.

This is an awesome fight card. I’d like to see more on every card, but UFC already has almost an event every 2 months… that is pretty frequent. It would be nice to put champion grade fighters in at least 3 matches each card.
