Din Thomas vs. Kenny Florian (155-pound limit)
Round one: Well here we go, the fight ive been waiting for it should be non stop action, two top 10 fighters at the top of their games. It should also help clear up a cloudy title picture in the 155 division. Thomas looking for distance. Leg kick by Ken flo followed by a high kick. Another high kick by Florian. Another head kick by Florian and Din lands a right hook and left cross. Leg kick by Florian, check that a kick right to the balls by Florian and the fight is stopped right now. Another head kick by Florian and Din answers with a right cross. Florian goes for another head kick and slips, Din rains down a right punch and couple elbows and now their back to the feet. Ken flo goes for the take down and he gets him down, Din is scrambling and kicks him off and back to the feet. Din again gets taken down and again kicks him off and their back to the feet. Din shoots and looks like he hurt his knee, now Florian is raining down punches while hes on Dins back. Florian still raining punches, and Florian locks in the choke and its all over. Din definitely hurt his left knee while going for the shot. He still hasn't gotten up and is pointing to his left knee. The replay shows that it looks like he could have very well blown out his knee which would explain why he didn't put up any fight at the end of this one. Sad to see the fight end that way, but Florian looked great nonetheless.
Result: Kenny Florian defeats Din Thomas via submission (rear naked choke) in round one
-end-
Terry Martin vs. Chris Leben (185-pound limit)
Round one: This one should be a brawl in every since of the word. Im going to go out on a limb and say that someone will get knocked out in this one. This should be the definition of a fan friendly fight. Both fighters exchange blows. Leg kick by Leben. Left hook by Martin. Martin with a nice take down. Leben has full guard. Martin trying to use some ground and pound. Leben looking for an arm bar. Back to the feet. Martin lands two vicious lefts, and Leben answers with a solid knee. Both fighters clinched. Martin with a right. Martin with knees from the clinch. Martin with double under hooks and goes for a nice slam and lands it. Leben looses a point for grabbing the fence. Back to the feet. Leben with a good knee and elbow. Clinched up against the fence again. Foot stomps by Leben. That round goes to Martin obviously because of the point deduction. But otherwise is was an extremely close round.
Round two: Leben looks to be in much better shape than he ever has been and Martin seemingly looks winded. Leben with good knees to the body from the clinch. Leben with a solid uppercut. Martin looks confused and uncomfortable in the stand up game. Back to the clinch against the fence. Leben with more foot stomps. Martin with a nice left hook. Great body shot by Martin. Both fighters exchange knees, and right hooks. Leben with a leg kick. Martin is swinging wildly. Leben with a good knee to the head, but Martin then takes him down. Hes in Lebens full guard. Nice elbows from the bottom by Leben. Martin looks tired, and Leben is looking to lock in a triangle. Its locked in and Martin isnt answering. Leben using elbows to soften him up. ANd thats the bell. Leben won that round easy and looks in much better shape and more crisp than Martin. But we have to wonder how much that point deduction will hurt him if this goes the distance.
Round three: Martin is breathing heavy and Leben looks confident. Nice uppercut by Martin. Back to the clinch. Both guys exchange knees. Martin lands a solid left. Martin with a stiff jab then a right. Martin with a good knee from the clinch. Martin with a huge right and left to the body!! Leben with a straight right. Martin with a take down. Again in Lebens full guard. Martin landing some punches. Lebemn lands a hook. Martin with a knee to the gut. Two left hooks by Martin and another. 2 minutes left. Leben goes for a take down but Martin reverses and again is in Lebens guard. Martin is gassed. HUGE right by Martin and Leben is rocked!!! Hes hurt bad, another right by Martin. Leben out of nowhere with a HUGE left hook!!!!! Martin is out cold!!! Its over Leben wins is an exciting finish!!! WOW!!
Result: Chris Leben defeats Terry Martin via knockout in round three
-end-
Nate Diaz vs. Junior Assuncao (155-pound limit)
Round one: Alright here we go, TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz will get his first test out of the competition in Junior Assuncao and we'll see what he has to offer. Both fighters come out fast. Junior with a leg kick. Junior with some wild punches and Diaz clinches up against the fence. Diaz using some lefts. Junior has the back, then Diaz uses a Judo sweep and flips him over. Junior on top and Diaz to his feet. Back to the clinch. Diaz goes for a kimura. Diaz is cranking it hard. Junior rolls for the back, but Nate scrambles to the feet. Nate with knees to the thigh. Nate Diaz with a HUGE one two combo and Junior is rocked!!!! He falls and lands into a guillotine of Nate Diaz. It's over Diaz submits him in an impressive victory. His jiu-jitsu is off the charts.
Result: Nate Diaz defeats Junior Assuncao via submission (guillotine choke) in round one
-end-
Nate Quarry vs. Pete Sell(185-pound limit)
Round one: OK, here we go a rematch that should be a brawl and well see if Drago can come back from the KO he suffered in his first meeting with Nate Quarry, and if Nate's surgically fused broken back can withhold the rigors of fighting and what affect it will have on his performance. Sell with a HUGE right cross to open things up, Quarry answers with two leg kicks and a combo. Both fighters clinch, and are exchanging knees. Drago with two good punches. Drago with the takedown off a double leg. Quarry back to his feet. Sell landing from rights from the clinch. Nice knee from Sell. Yamasaki separates them and both fighters exchange huge punches. Drago with two stiff jabs. HUGE right by Sell!!! Quarry answers with a left. Now they are clinched up against the fence. Quarry working knees to the stomach. Drago going for the takedown but cant get it. Huge elbow and right by Sell. Followed by a stiff left hook. HUGE left hook by Sell and followed by ANOTHER!!!! 1-2 combo from Sell. Another huge right hook to end the round!!! Gotta give that round to Drago 10-9 easy he had the take down, he was moving forward more, and he landed more shots, threw more shots and they were powerful.
Round two: Nice right by Sell. 2 good right leg kicks by Quarry. Drago with a nice body shot. HUGE right by Sell!!!! Hes down!!! Dropped, but amazingly hes back to his feet. Another huge right by Sell. Hes doing some damage. Quarry with a good right, Sell immediately takes him down. Now hes going for the guillotine. Sell with a knee. both fighters back up to their feet. Superman punch lands flush by Sell. Sell with another right cross. Quarry lands a right. Leg kick by Sell. Jab by Drago. Nice right by Sell. Body shot by Sell. Another straight right by Sell followed by a leg kick from Quarry. ANother solid leg kick with a right by Nate. Left hook by Sell. Thats the bell. Again it goes to Sell 10-9 for all the same reasons especially that punched that dropped Quarry.
Round three: Jab by Sell. Huge right left combo from Sell. Another huge right!!! Quarry lands a huge right hook and drops Sell, thats it its all over!!! WOW! A surprising end to a fight that Drago was dominating up until that one punch, but as we all know one punch is all it takes.
Result: Nate Quarry defeats Pete Sell via technical knockout in round three

Nice card….can’t wait. What fight is everyone looking forward to?
For me it is the Main Event. Din Thomas vs. Kenny Florian should be a great PPV worthy fight!

Nice card….can’t wait. What fight is everyone looking forward to?
For me it goes:
Main Event – Florian/Thomas
Cole Miller/Leonard Garcia
Leben/Martin
Nate/Junior
Quarry/Sell
Out of all the undercard fights, Miller/Garcia is the only one that I really want to see, and I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT. Anyone else?

I hope they show that fight. Garcia is a tough dude. And Cole has a lot of skills. That fight should be really good. I’ve been looking forward to this event for a while. All of the matches are solid.

Mania what did I say about Dustin?
I was very complimentary. I said this, to be precise: “I think Dustin has skills and this will be a nice test to see where he is at.”
Desert Dog had the write up on the bets — you are confusing the two.

Oh I know, I am just preaching the the choir, I know you said that, I was just estatic to see that he won via submission!
Im not confusing the two, I just know that you actually knew that I said he was going to win via submission =p.
Plus there was little love for Dustin before this fight, like I said he is the poor man’s version of UFCMania’s pride Jon Fitch =p.
I hope Din pulls this one out for us buddy!

I read that Goulet’s elbow looked severely hurt because of the armbar that Hazelett locked on him.
I love these Jorge Gurgel trained guys locking on armbars!
First Marcus Davis, now Dustin Hazelett (who teaches BJJ at Jorges camp) whats next Jorge over Alvin via armbar? Rich Franklin defeating Anderson Silva via armbar?
Sounds good to me!

I retract my last statement. Leben looks better then ever. He got the better of the standup. Martin took it to the ground but didnt do shit… Leben landed punches and elbows and almost got an armbar. First round 9-9 because of fence grab. I still dont like him as a person though

If I were a betting man (which i am) I would bet on kenflo. If he is losing the stand up, he will take it down to the ground and he has great ground n pound and submission skills. But yea, I know you could say the same for Din, but I think kenflo is more relentless and agressive

Very entertaining night of fights I thought. Was too bad to see Din blow out his knee like that but Florian was looking very impressive so I don’t think that changed the outcome at all.

florian is the man and deserves a title shot. not to stir up a discussion but he definately deserves it over stevenson. I like stevenson alot but noone is more worthy of a title shot than KenFlo. lightweight grand prix has to happen lol
but if not:
penn vs sherk for title if its not stripped
stevenson vs Florian for #1 contender
Huerta vs Guida for a great fight

FIGHT UPDATE: Chris Leben defeats Terry Martin via knockout in round three!
Leben really looked surprised when he DID knock him out.

Really entertaining night of fights. So many commercials though. I TiVO’ed the thing but couldn’t hold off watching it because TUF came on right after.
The Leben fight wasn’t all that crisp but a classic Rocky slugfest in the end. He looks like he is on the right track now- with still a ways to go. Martin won his previous fights too easily and suffered from David Terrel syndrome (going into loss to Tanner). He looks like he could even cut to 170 if he lost the jelly roll.
Glad to see Quarry win. That fight was an uglyfest at the end too. Pete Sell has been disappointing.
KenFlo should get next up after Penn-Stevenson (I assume Shrek will lose his appeal). He’s built like the math class geek but can submit the high school quarterback. Amazing talent.
Very entertaining night! Great matchups.

Just like how Martin threw his hands in the air right before he got KO’ed by Leben.

Great FightNight !!!
I was extremly impressed with Leben.. What a battle between Pete Sell and Nate ( no rematch )…Nate Diaz and Jr..a BJJ clinic and Nate punched out first..Ken-Flo and Din..was not good fight..to bad Din blew out his Knee..but Ken did what he needed to do. Finish! I hope UFC 76 can live up to its own hype to be the cream of la’cream of UFC September.

MAN!!! what a great tv card! sell/quarry was a good fight, leben was an animal, mad props to him for changing his game up. hope he keeps it up! hawaii is the shit! Diaz/junior, wow what a bjj clinic ~ slick transitions back and forth ~ Diaz worked hard for that guillotine! great to see him fight so well after winning TUF on an injury tap. Kenny/Din looked like it was gonna be a good one til’ the blow out. overall that was one of my favorite cards in a while!!! all my boys won!!! Leben, Diaz & Florian!! and then to top it off we got to see Mac from team Hughes take the first one by TRIangleCHOKE on a bjj black belt!! lol that was hilarious!!!

What an awesome night! I truly wish Din would not have gotten hurt because it takes away from Kenfinish’s win. He has improved so much and remains my favorite fighter. Man did Leben show up or what? What an improved look and feel to his game. It looked like Martin had no clue! Diaz looked great as well.

i was very impressed with chris leban, for once he didn’t just hang is jaw out there and wildly throw that left hand, he fought a very smart fight, nobody had been able to see what kind of cardio martin had and i guess we know its not very good, great fight, great ending, props to leban…pete sell was just picking nate quarry apart, all he had to do was stay away in the third and he walked right into a KO punch, props to nate for hanging in there and having a nice chin and he looked huge didn’t he?…nate diaz looked fantastic…and if kenny florian keeps improving every aspect of his game like he has been then eventually he might be wearing that lw title belt…wish we could have seen the other fights, there were some good ones on the undercard, again the ufc could have squeezed at least two mroe fights in there instead of all the in between stuff, which there was a lot of…

I haven’t read any of the comments yet, or read the write up, because I am STILL downloading the Cole Miller/Leonard Garcia fight. For some reason, it is taking forever. Its been downloading for 20 minutes, and its not even half way done yet.
Last nights Fight Night was absolutely fanstastic for me to watch. In every single fight that was televised (I didn’t look to see who won the undercard yet), the fighter that I was rooting for won – and none of them went to a decision. I couldn’t have been happier – unless Din didn’t blow out his knee going for a shoot. That really sucked. When watcing it live, his shot did look very awkward, especially at the end. So I wasn’t sure if he hurt his leg, or if he somehow it his head on the canvas at a wierd angle and got hurt by it. But after replays, it was obviously the first of the two. Kenny The Killer finishes his fights!
Nate Quarry, welcome back to the UFC! I really thought that once Sell connected with that punch to Nate’s chin in the second round as Nate went down very similarly to when Franklin cracked him, for that split second, I thought the fight was over. But Nate being the tough guy that he his, just bounced right back up immediately. Great knockout in the third round for Quarry. I’m very happy to see Nate back on track after his surgery. He really is a good guy. I met him back at UFC 55 Fury. He was really down to earth. Nate can take a punch, and he can throw one as well. But did anyone notice that on many occasions, when he would throw a straight punch, he would drop his other hand completely, and stick his chin out? Seeing that in the first round had me thinking that he was going to get KO’d.
My boy Nate Diaz – way to go. Too bad Nick couldn’t corner him. Even if Nate wasn’t Nick’s little brother, I would still be a fan of his, but probably not quite as much as I do. It looks like Nate puts just a little bit more on his average punch that Nick does, but once Nick finds that opening, I believe that he can hit harder than Nate. I was very happy to see rock Junior with those 2 punches, and I was very impressed with his transissin from guillatine to, well guillatine. It was great!
Leben was in great shape for the first time in his career. Good for him. It looks like the move to Hawaii has really payed off. Everyone was talking about Martin’s one punch power. The highlights of the fight were Chris Leben throwing his combinations, and HIS one punch knockout of Martin! Good for Leben. I am very happy to see him back on track. I have been a big fan of Leben since TUF 1. Out of all of those fighters in that season (TUF 1), from what I was able to tell back then, Leben and Forrest have the two biggest hearts, and I still believe that to this day.
Once this Miller/Garcia fight is finally finished downloading, it’ll be time for my lunch. Then, I’ll read the comments – I don’t want to spoil the fight I’m actually downloading for $2. This is the 2nd time I’m using UFC On Demand. The first time was for Clay Guida/Marcus Aurelio. I HATE how they tell you who won the fight, how they won it, and when they won it before you download the fight. So this time I used my hands to cover the screen, and slowly moved them around to find the download button, so I wouldnt know the outcome.

Hey, does anyone possibly have a link to Gray Maynards under 10 second knock out? I want to see it, but I’m not about to pay 20 cents per second to watch a fight. They should offer this one at a discounted price of like 25 cents, then a lot more people would watch it. They can even have a lame headline on UFC.com saying:
“If you want to see one of the fastest KO’s in UFC history, and you have a least 25 cents in your bank account, click here!”

Taunting -> Loss
I found it funny how Terry Martin acted like he had it in the bag to lose seconds later. Then, Din Thomas, does that silly shimmy across the ring and finds himself beaten.
Grow up guys.
Quarry is a rock! That guy took some ass kicking. Sell clearly out punched the guy by a wide margin. Why didn’t Sell just stay back and get the win? 2 minutes later and he would have been seen as a dominating winner. Patience brother.
Leben just looked DIFFERENT. A different person altogether.

Great fights, I love the fights that go back and forth, there far more exciting than the one sided ones. I can’t believe I’m saying this by I was rooting for leben for most of the fight, I was impressed with the shape he was in, he physically looked much better and was so much more cool headed this time(other than gassing horribly in the third round). What an ending I thought leben was going to lose for sure, getting rocked then I think martin got over confident, dropped his hands and it was lights out for him. Martin was so arrogant going into this fight and I’m glad leben won, losing 3 out of his last 4 fights really seemed to humble him. Some of these fights are right out of a movie script with the guy at the brink of defeat, them getting the ko, I thought nate quarry was going to lose then POW its all over good for him he seems like a decent guy. Nate diaz did very well too, he’s a wizard on the ground, I was very impressed with him, he may look like a bag of bones put the guy has some serious skills. I actually found the main event the least entertaining of all the fights, if Din Thomas didn’t hurt his knee there might have been a completely different out come of that fight. Over all great fights, no real disappointments.

Haven’t you learned anything – you cannot leave the fight up to the judges. Matt Hamill probably thought he was up 2 rounds to none going into the third with Bisping and we all know what happened there…

Ashame Din had to go down like that… guess you can say it was Karma from the lil shit talking.
Quarry can take baseball bat shots to the head and still stand up, as can Leben. Sell actually looked REALLY good imo.. Quarry was a bit sloppy, but made it happen when he got the chance. Surely a bit of ring rust. Quarry is funny as hell too.
Leben looked sloppy on his feet, but damn did he really develope a good ground game. Martin had the fast hands as always (how that guy weighs in at 185 I dont know.) Great war.
Florian looked REALLY good, jumped on Din when he had the chance and took the win. Rematch would indeed be nice if/when Din gets that knee back to normal (anyone know if there were previous issues there?)

I actually enjoyed the whole thing. I had the wife and kids with me watching it and we just made a “Fight Night” of it.
I was disappointed to see Din blow out his knee. I like Kenny, but I am biased for the Thomas camp. Kenny had some great kicks and Din defended them well (except for the groin kick…ouch….still, very well-thrown kick).
My boys and I train at Din’s school in Port St Lucie and having trained there for a while now, so I knew something was wrong when he just laid there.
Prior to the knee blow-out, I thought the match was pretty even, overall. I do give the kicking to Kenny as he had some great kicks.
As for the taunting, they all do it for the most part. In real-life most of these guys are very nice and do not put on a show like they do in the ring.
I hope that Din will be back. He is very skilled and it would be a shame for this to end his career.
Man, how about Leben and Quarry? Wow!!
I like the way that Quarry was mixing up things with kicks, punches, knees and so on. He was slower than Sell, but he still did pretty well.
All in all, a great fight card. Again, I wish Din the best and hope for a speedy recovery and hats off to Kenny for showing great sportsmanship in the ring right after the fight!
