Nate Quarry back to fight another fight tonight against Pete Sell

Nate Quarry
Props: Canadian Press

Quoteworthy:

"I told him from Day 1, I said 'Doc, I need this to be strong. I need to know that if someone picks me up and slams me on my head, my back isn't going to break And he said 'When I'm done with you, your back - the parts that I fuse - will be stronger than the rest of your back."'

-- Middleweight Nate Quarry talks about his two-year break from fighting to recover from spinal fusion surgery. He'll be in action tonight when he rematches Pete Sell at UFC Fight Night 11 from The Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pete sell in my oppinion has been the unluckiest fighter in the UFC. I c his luck changing for the better tonight. Too many unanswered questions about Quarry makes it impossible to bet on him. Nate hasnt fought in 2 years, he was kicked out of team quest. Nate’s specialty has always been his stand up, and sell is tough to KO. He does real well against strikers (c his fight wit Phil Baroni).

Sell is my upset fight of the night! Not only do I think sell will win, but I strongly believe that he will finish the fight. I see Sell knocking Nate to the ground with a nast fight, then he will pounce on a fallen Nate Quarry and finish the fight on the ground via TKO.

Hopefully Maynard wont knock himself out again.

I thought he did well when he helped train guys on TUF 1 after he busted his ankle and couldn’t continue. He should stick with that. I also think he should lose this fight because I have a financial interest in Drago winning.

Nate Quarry is the man. I really want him to do well.

He was a good brother figure for Leben on the show when the guys were picking on him.

GO NATE!! I hope he wins, becuase if he loses I doubt Dana will let him fight in the UFC for a long time. He should have fought Evan Tanner since they have both been out long. But Tanner is fighting Bitter beer face now.

2 years is a long layoff, i think drago is gonna win this fight, the first fight was a questionable stoppage if i remember right, and i think drago is gonna want some revenge, drago in a decision…

.. tour telling me the florian fight wil be better than the quary fight… dont think so… they will be close but im telling you the quary fight should be a good one…does anybody know how many fights quarry signed up for? is it still his old contract?

Nate is the kind of guy who is worthy of fan support for coming back from a debilitating back injury to return to the octagon, as opposed to Tanner, who has apparently chosen to spend the last few years of his career being drunk and fat.

I just remember the smug face on Quarry when he was facing off against Franklin at the weigh in – what a joke. Sell will bury this fool.

he shoulda had his jaw fused after the Franklin KO!

Your people are LAME man. Evan Tanner has a very real problem with drinking. A Problem that could quite possibly kill the guy. Nate Quary has spent the last two years of his life fighting and dreaming to finally one day be back in a sport that he loves, pure and simple. Both of these men have and are trying to overcome great odds, and the only comments you people can make are to throw them both under the bus. I hope people don’t treat you all as ruthlessly when your down and out. Your better hope they don’t either. For once, how about saying “Hey, I hope for the best for everyone”. God, knock it off with all the downer, neg head crap and start living for others instead of just yourself. Have a heart.

Swick dropping out of the Guolet fight was the best thing that could have happened to this card. Now we are guaranteed to see Quarry/Sell on the televised portion!

Sell is one tough dude, watch UFC 69. Thales Leites man-handled Sell, tried so many submissions and tried extremely hard to finish him off via ground and pound and Sell never quit. Sell WILL NOT get knocked out.

Quarry, is just like Frank Mir. Is he going to be the same as he was before?

I think Sell beats Quarry via submission I really think that.

I like Quarry, and I think if he loses this fight, it wont be the end of him because he does have a big fan base following him. I just think, he loses, it gives Sell a boost he dearly needs, and Quarry a step back to evaluate his game, so he realizes that Team Quest is a good place for him to be instead of being on his own.

I think his buddy Scott Smith would beg to differ!

I got a question.

Now that the UFC owns WEC, and the WEC has a television deal with Versus. Every Wednesday night, the Versus channel shows the show TapOut and WEC Wreckage. If the UFC owns the WEC, why would they schudule this season’s TUF to be on the same day at the same time as thier WEC program?

It doesn’t make any sense to me. With the UFC owing the WEC, you would think that the UFC would want the WEC to succeed. So why put thier popular seasonal show (TUF) on at the exact same time as thier WEC show. Its as if the UFC is trying to crush the WEC and force them out of business…

Thats a bad picture of Nate …

I was thinking the same thing at first, but then I realized that that is just how a regular jaw looks. All of these pictures of Tito and Kendall have clouded are judgement on how the human face should be proportioned.

Spike TV made them switch to WED, to expand the wrestling brand TNA show to a TWO HOUR show.

Back to the Scott Smith comment you made.. wow.. that was a ridiculous hit, but I think he put EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING he had into one punch.. that was a heck of a punch, I wont say its luck, because Sell deserved it, but man.. that KO has to be the best KO ever.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Sep 19, 2007 4:20 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

REALLY? Spike prefers TNA wrestling over the UFC? Or am I interpreting it wrong?

Our of all of the undercard matched tonight, I am REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hoping that they show the Leonard Garcia vs Cole Miller fight. That fight should be GREAT!!! Does anyone else feel this same way???

Yeah I definately agree…it’s a tough one to pick too. As for Nate…I don’t know he did KO Sell before…Sell has a great ground game, but a weak chin. He gets rocked all the time. Nate by KO.
