Im too poor to order PPV, that’s why I order at Hooters. Ordering a 7 dollar plate leaving a 3 dollar tip, lol. 10 bucks aint too bad for a meal and a round of fights.

Hey ufcmania, do you still post the bars that are showing the UFC fights. I don’t think I caught it for this one. Also, I was reading about the Patriots cheating thing and the UFC was mentioned briefly in the article. Here is the link: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7226916?GT1=10437

I only hope that Shogun is 100 %.

I’m so pumped to see him here, but I do love Forrest more.
Either way, I think it will be a TKO.

I should once again be getting some feeds from tonights Prelim fights (excactly like UFC 74) so if a submission or KO happen, and it is a beauty, Ill be the first to respond to it, since I will actually see it.

Extremely Excited about tonight.

Solid first round for Wiman, I think he might of lost this round, tough call.

by "Mr. NC-17" on Sep 22, 2007 8:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I mean, crocop was vulnerable due to his lack of ground game, but honestly, who could pick aginast Rua? He even said it in his interview. Chute Boxe trains using elbows extensively, and has probably trained a lot harder and longer than griffin. Also, anyone who thinks they are strong enough to keep Rua on the ground is in trouble. Im actually going to go out on a limb and say Rua by submission round 1.

by Javy Martinez on Sep 22, 2007 8:37 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

With the last minute I saw of Round 2, and what my friend has told me, he says Wiman should of won this round, and he sure looked decent on his feet the last minute of this fight.

Obiously, look at your name, we all know who you want to win.

Who do I think is going to win? Its a toss-up.

Depends on what Diego we see.

But I think Koscheck holds the key to Diego’s weakness, and Fitch and Kos are unseperateable.

Fitch wins via decision.

Sanchez is Talented But Fitch is A better wrestler so he should be able to negate Diego’s takedowns and Fitch trains at AKA and every one knows how good those fighters are when it comes to striking.

as Mr.NC-17 said – Fitch by Unanimous Decision

I have a feeling that forrest is going to win even though shogun is the most talented fighter at 205.

every pay-per-view has some type of upset and i think It is going to be forrest.

Franklin will have a better showing this time but IMO he won’t beat Anderson.

by 2chi on Sep 22, 2007 10:13 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

anybody think rich reclaims his title in the rematch in october?

I don’t think it matters…if Henderson gets his head on straight and moves down to middleweight he will dominate.

by Decken on Sep 22, 2007 10:13 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

rich is a top-tier fighter who was doing well in the fight until the clinch…he actually landed a good shot on silva before silva rushed him with the clinch…i think he will make adjustments and that it will at least be a solid title fight…no easy wins for anderson come october.

by td31 on Sep 22, 2007 10:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

…Hendo will be tough to stop at mw.

by 2chi on Sep 22, 2007 10:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

anybody think rich reclaims his title in the rematch in october?

that is going to be a tough fight because i think franklin is going tentative because he knows what kind of power silva has so it may end up being a boring fight if franklin fights “not to lose” but if he fights “to win” (by that i mean he comes out like he did last time they fought)then he will KTFO.

Thiago Tavares (Pictures) vs. Tyson Griffin (Pictures)
Round 1
The first minute plays out like a kickboxing match, with both fighters looking to strike from the outside. Griffin scored a takedown at the 3:30 mark and scored with a big right hand from his opponent’s guard. Tavares looked for a leg submission, which Tyson easily hopped out of. Tavares briefly took Griffin’s back, but the American had none of it and quickly escaped. An elbow, a huge right hand to the head and body shots landed for Griffin in the final minute of the round. Good action in the first, 10-9 for Tyson Griffin.

10:33 p.m. — GRIFFIN VS. TAVARES, ROUND 3: Tavares looks pretty beat up but appears fresh. Griffin wrestles him to the ground, though. Pressed against the fence, Griffin throws some shoulders at Tavares. Tavares, though, locks in an arm. Griffin reverses and gets back to his feet. The action slows as Griffin pushes Tavares back into fence. Tavares transitions out of it, but Griffin pushes him right back into the fence. Griffin tries for the takedown but Tavares balances out of it. Griffin stings him with a right, but Tavares shoots in and take him down. Griffin’s wincing and appears to have an eye injury. Griffin gets back to his feet and pins Tavares against the fence. One minute to go. They’re in the clinch, and Griffin connects on a knee. Tavares transitions and gets his back again, but Griffin breaks free and throws some hammer fists. The round ends. It’s another 10-9 round for Griffin in a hugely entertaining fight. It’s likely a 30-27 win for Griffin.

Tyson Griffin looked awesome, that was a great fight! There is no way Tavares could have got that decision….. Griffin decisively won the first round, and although the pace of the other two rounds were controlled by Tavares, Griffin had the most amazing submission defense, most of the strikes, and countered everything well.

Round 1: Good leg kick and solid hook from Jardine lands flush. Another leg kick from Jardine. Liddell with a good shot. Another good punch from Jardine lands. Good body kick from Jardine. Good right from Liddell. Overhand right misses for Liddell. Liddell chasing down Jardine with lefts and rights. Good right from Jardine. Jardine is cut and swelling a bit around one of his eyes. “Chuck, Chuck” chant starts up. Leg kick from Jardine. And another. Body kick from Jardine. Overhand right from Jardine just misses. Another hard leg kick from Jardine. Good left from Liddell. Good jab from Liddell. Both miss with big punches. Another good shot from Jardine, this time it finds the mark. 2 minutes left in the first. Push kick from Jardine. Liddell wincing from a finger poke he received from Jardine. Karma is a bitch. Head kick from Jardine misses. Liddell opening up more with kicks and punches in a nice combo. Uppercut from Liddell lands partially. Overhand right by Jardine. And another. Solid right from Liddell and Liddell is chasing him down. Jardine smiling and lands a solid leg kick. The two swing a bit after the bell. Good first round. Not the easiest to score.

Liddell/Jardine:

Round 1 – Liddell

Jardine worked in some kicks and avoided Liddells punches (for the most part) but Chuck should get the round. Chuck is stocking Keith though and is looking for a TKO.

Round 2: The two trip each other up a bit throwing simaltaneous leg kicks early in the second. Good jab by Jardine. Nice body kick from Jardine. Jardine drops Liddell with a solid punch. Liddell is back on his feet and seems to be okay. Liddell nails Jardine with a good punch. Solid body kick from Jardine. Liddell has some welts on his body from all those kicks. Another hard shot from Jardine lands. Jardine waving Liddell in, looking more confident. Jardine shakes his head “no” after a shot lands by Liddell. 3 minutes left in the second round. Jardine lands another couple really good punches. Leg kick from Jardine. Another good right by Jardine. Jardine is getting confident. Leg kick from Jardine. And another. Jardine pouring blood out of the side of his head. And his eye is bleeding pretty good on the other side. Good body punch from Jardine. Liddell’s body looks bad from the kicks. Think CroCop-Silva 1. Liddell rocks Jardine with some big punches. He lands a knee. Spinning back fist from Liddell misses. Little over a minute left as Jardine lands another leg kick. And again. Uppercut from Liddell partially lands. Jardine starting to look a bit tired. Liddell is pressing the action more now. Nice right from Liddell. Great round. 40 seconds left. Overhand from Jardine lands on the top of Liddell’s head. Another leg kick from Jardine. He’s chopping away. Body kick from Jardine and Liddell shows it on his face as it lands. Good punch from Liddell as the round ends. Definitely Jardine’s round. Liddell walks to the wrong corner after the horn sounds.

Well UFC 76 Knockout is inn the books.Let me start by ssaying this was a darn good card.Even though IMO it should of been called UFC 76 “IN THE JUDGES HANDS”.I was really impressed with Forrest he should vast improvement in everything. All you Forrest bashers saying "Its going to be bad for Forrest,Shogun’s a Beast an yadda yadda yadda. All this pride hype is going out the window,Guess we won’t gewt to see CHUCK VS WANDI,an with the win by Jardine where does it put him? What about Houston? Can’t forget about him cause if it wasn’t for him this wouldn’t of happened. But the light eihg divison just got thrown a big monkey wrench in the mix can’t wait to see the fighter rankings after this one.But just think about this—
Jardine beat Forrest
Shogun beat Rampage
Houston beat Jardine
Rampage beat chuck
Forrest beat Shogun
Jardine beat Chuck
Hamill beat bisp o wait forget that one auto rematch
Tito beat Forrest
Chuck beat Tito

Other than the Machida fight, this night was awesome. Well worth the money. Fitch was not exciting at all even though I agree with the win. Just like kos, Fitch just nutrualized sanchez. I was more amazed at Sanchez’s attempts than Fitches blocks. On the other hand I was astounded at Griffins reverses than thiagos attempts. This brings a delema in the scoring. Jardines leg kicks were amazing, and Forest suprised the hell out of me. I will go to bed with a big smile on my face tonight.

Biggggggggggggggg upset, Keith Jardine wins by split decision. Holy shit.

Lets be for real now, this was not that big of an upset if it was an upset at all. I thought they both had an equal chance of winning.

tyson griffin was awesome, he gets out of everything, he’s very very good at escaping trouble, very impressed once again by him, i can’t wait to see who he’s fighting next, but he’s getting closer and closer to the top in the lw division…i feel bad diego lost, but fitch just looked so much bigger than him and he was just stronger, theres not much else to say about that, props to fitch and to both fighters for being respectful and professional after the fight, fitch makes it impossible not to like him…forrest griffin just came out and fought, he’s the man, you have to love that guy, i was surprised shogun got so tired, i thought he was trying to lure forrest in a little bit, but it just became obvious he was gassed and forrest just straight up out worked him, mad mad props to forrest, i love it…keith jardine took everything chuck had in that first round and just kept wearing chuck down with those leg and body kicks and it paid off by the end of the fight, by that third round that kick and left hook combo was hitting every single time, chuck was obviously hurting from the kicks, again mad props to keith jardine and to greg jackson as well for finally get a big win…great night of fights, maybe chuck vs. wanderlei just isn’t meant to be…also, props to randy couture and his team for having forrest and tyson in great shape and very well prepared for two big fights, randy continues to impress even when he’s not fighting…

Isn’t it kind of ironic that on the pay-per view titled “Knockout”, all the fights went to decision except one which was seconds away from a decision?

WHO WON THE LIDDELL JARDINE FIGHT

by DGAB on Sep 23, 2007 1:28 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

if i didn’t order the pay-per-view and someone told me that this is what happened i would have told them they were effin liars. DAMN! but i feel it should go like this…

Rampage vs. Forrest
Silva vs. Jardine
Alexander vs. Shogun

Winner from the Silva vs. Jardine fight, fights the winner from the Shogun vs. Alexander fight to find out who fight s for the belt next. Ortiz vs. Evans is irrelevent. neither of them deserve a shot as it is right now. maybe the winner of that fight can take on Liddell in his farewell to MMA fight because that bastard is finito.

Wow!

This was the best card ever put together, not one fight disapointed.

Now here is what will happen in that division.

Rampage vs. Forrest

Wanderlei Silva vs. Houston Alexander

Keith Jardine vs. Lyoto Machida

Tito Ortiz/Rashad Evans vs. Shogun Rua

Chuck Liddell vs. Nakamura? Marvin Eastman? Ross Pointon? What? I dunno!

This was the best fight card ever.

Wow this is crazy. Two huge upsets. Great fights I was happy to see Forest win he looked awesome. He’s one of my favorite fighters because it doesn’t matter who he’s fighting he just brings everything he has every time he fights. Sad to see Chuck lose because I hate to say it but he is done. At 38 years old I dont see him being able to fight long enought to get back in the title picture again. BTW what was up with that second judge ruling in favor of Diego and chuck. I wanted Chuck to win as bad as anyone but he clearly was beaten in the 2nd and 3rd rounds and Diego had some nice submission attempts but he was dominated all 3 rounds in my opinion. Overall exciting fights though would like to see Fitch fight GSP or Karo in his next fight. Koz would be a nice oponet too but I don’t think they will do that in sense they both train together. But I would say if they dont put Fitch up against GSP or Karo he should be next in line for a title shot after Hughes and GSP.

“No way Jardine already convincingly beat Forrest I say play it like this Jardine Vs. Rampage Forrest Vs. Silva Ortiz/Evans Vs. Houston Alexander Liddell vs. Shogun”

I think your fight picks are completely off the mark. Have you forgotten Jardine got absolutely owned by Alexander?? And after two straight losses, Silva and White aren’t going to put Liddell in a tough fight where he could lose his 3rd straight. They’ll feed him Machida or someone like that first. At this point I see it as Rampage (although it wouldn’t shock me if the just gave Forrest the title shot)potentially waiting for a fight while Jardine/Silva go and Forrest/Alexander go. I have to think that Shogun fits in there somewhere, maybe against Bisping if Hamill can’t go for their rematch.

it could still be on the card in december,

“Chuck Liddell and Vanderlai Silvatwo fighters coming off of back to back knock out losses, desperate to reclaim their former glory, the winner starts on the long road back to the belt, and the loser fades in to oblivion”

that would be kickass, maybe not the main event but with bjpenn vs joe stevenson/steroid shark that would be a kickass card.

How can anyone be surprised Shogun gassed when his brother was about to collapse against R. Lawler a week ago.

They train together.

I actually gave up on Shogun after seeing that fight. Lawler was the exact same fighter Pete Spratt beat with leg kicks years ago.

Ninja even went for them at the start then stopped.

It was sad

I’m still not counting Shogun out of the title picture though. Not taking anything away from Forrest because he faught an amazing fight, but it definately appeared that Shogun’s conditioning was not up to par and that he gassed mid way throught the 2nd round. He’s only 25 so he has plenty of time to comeback and get the belt someday. I think we’ve learned that the UFC guys are a lot better than people were giving them credit for though as guys like Shogun and Mirko who were supposed to tear apart the UFC haven’t lived up to there hype. I won’t even be surprised to see Fedor lose now if he signs with the UFC after all these crazy upsets lately though.

KARO! Karo is the litmus test to finding out who’s who at welterweight. A seeminly stacked class has become very unstable since the lightweights have split off. Puncher’s chance has played a role, sure, but Sanchez loses 2 in a row? I know Karo lost to Sanchez but imagine him against GSP, Kos, and now Fitch. I love Hughes, but his mind is at home being Daddy (I can relate). Serra’s a FLUKE! GSP is a fight God. Watch out for Vera, he’s the only threat at this point at heavy. WHO’S Vanderlei gonna fight NOW? Jardine just peed in the Fertitti bros. Wheaties on that one, right? I life Griffin (155) vs. Kenflo for the next big lights fight. GREAT month for UFC. Anybody got a hint on WEC champs getting their foot in the door? Faber might be interesting in the UFC.

Hate these people always trying to make it a Pride vs UFC battle. I mean I started watching the UFC so hated when guys would say things like the UFC has no heavyweights and Cro Cop is gonna dominate everyone. But lets face it there’s good fighters from both. Like Matt said Ramapge and Anderson Silva are from Pride and their both dominating there respective divisions. Don’t forget that this was Rua’s first fight in the UFC and adjusting to the rule change can be tough as well as the adreneline boost may have contributed to him gassing. Shogun will be fine Forest was just the better man tonight, but there is no reason to bash Pride or UFC lets just be excited about how competitive every division is now that it is stacked with talented fighters. Before the aquisition of Pride the light heavyweight division consisted of Tito knocking out Shamrock and Chuck knocking out tito every fight now there is half a dozen guys in line for a title shot.

I agree that fight was close but I’d have to say Fitch won every round. Sure Diego went from submision attempt to submision attempt but the fact is fitch dodged all of them and stayed on top of Diego. I kinda see failed submision attempts the same as someone throughing home run punches and missing cause if the guy is able to dodge them all did u really inflict any damage on him. Diego is still on of the top weilterweights but Fitch just proved tonight he is top 3 with GSP and Hughes (we’ll see in a few months whether or not Serra was a fluke I personally don’t feel he’s a top 10 wealteweight but we will find out).

by GSP4prez on Sep 23, 2007 2:32 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I am a bit befuddled by the posts in this thread.

Off the top of my head, the top Pride fighters have a 7-4 record against UFC fighters (9-6 record overall because they’ve fought each other twice), with two former Pride fighters having defeated the at-the-time top UFC fighters in the LHW and MW classes (Liddell and Franklin). Just so it’s clear, I’m considering the following former Pride fighters, and I may have missed a fight somewhere, but I think this is correct: CroCop (1-2), Shogun (0-1), Nogueira (1-0), Herring (1-2), Jackson (3-0), Henderson (0-1), and Anderson Silva (3-0). One of the aforementioned losses was Herring’s loss to O’Brien, which was essentially Herring being ill-prepared and O’Brien taking him down and laying on him for three rounds – hardly an impressive victory. At one point, Herring was on his back making fun of O’Brien’s tactics (clearly Herring was frustrated). Even if you consider all four losses legit examples of a UFC fighter being clearly superior to a Pride fighter on a given night, Pride is still 7-4.

So, how is/was Pride #2?

Also, to say the Jardine’s win wasn’t an upset is astonishing. Even if you ignore the odds (which are obviously quite relevant, as odds makers know what they’re doing…check the track record) and only focus on recent history (and for the poster who made this claim, I’ll assume you mean Liddell’s loss to Jackson, because that was the only blemish in his recent history), Liddell seemed to be clearly the superior fighter. His recent history consisted of two wins against Couture, a win against Ortiz, a win against Sobral, and a one punch loss to Jackson (who’s no slouch…he’s just the Undisputed LHW Champ). Jardin’s recent history consists of wins against below average fighters, Bonnar, Griffin (seemingly a higher quality win in light of Griffin’s victory against Shogun), and KO loss to Houston Alexander. Recent history shows Liddell beating much better fighters and losing a much better fighter. So, recent history suggests Liddell is a superior fighter.

Anyway…I’m suprised Rua lost. I’m slightly less surprised that Liddell lost. I’m not surprised that Fitch won, although I’m not convinced he has a shot against St. Pierre or Hughes.

Shogun was horrible ! # 1 ranked light heavyweight my ASS !!
I wonder who gets the next crack at a title ?

I got stomped on my predictions. Well, spida was right. At least I got the Griffin/Thavares fight correct /sigh

I thought it was bullshit that the Fitch and Liddell fights were split decisions. Those were clear wins for them imo. As far as Forrest beating Shogun’s ass, I’m not sure what to say. Oh well

I agree with GSP every fighting tournaments have different rules and fouls thats y shogun couldn’t use his other muay thai skills that he uses in prideFC due to the rules of UFC thats y he needs to adjust, about ufc fighters owning pride fighters? i don’t think so why ufc figthers get owned by pride fighters in prideFC?!!
And its still not the end of chuck he needs to do something! or else its the end for him.

Thanks for the response I as trying to make sense of it with all the problems as of late with the 10 must system it is starting to get pretty confusing from ppv event o to ppv event. Mat Hamill lost because he ws not aggressive from the top position(supposedly) yet diego busy from the bottom position and he loses the fight. Gets crazy. I wish they would go to a true ju-jitsu scoring system with a striking addition. 2 points take down 1 point escape, 1 point control, then they can total that some how with striking aggression at the end of round. Something has to be done to standardize the point system. It is becoming its own worst enemy by not having its own point sytstem…

Hows this for a PPV…

Title = “CONFIMATION”
Tim Silva vs Kongo
Cro-cop vs Herring
Silva vs Liddell
Houston vs Griffin
Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson
Did Sherk lose the title yet? If so K-flo vs Stevenson and Griffin vs BJ Penn. To firm up who is the top 2.

The Assassin Vs The Dean of Mean 2? You must wanna make him The Dean of Dreams, Houston would knock him the f*ck again! Jardine will get Silva in December it’s only fair, if Liddell was going to get him had he won. Forrest at the very least earned a shot at Rampage by dominating and submitting Shogun. So check it, Ortiz Vs Evans 2 is set. Hamill Vs Bisping 2 is coming. Look at the division, Liddell lost so did Shogun they should fight each other. Houston and Machida both won, they should fight each other. So use common sense. The way it might happen is.
Griffin Vs Rampage for the Title
Jardine Vs Silva in December
Ortiz Vs Evans 2 in November
Hamill Vs Bisping 2
Liddell Vs Shogun (unless they want to give them each a tomato
Houston Vs Machida in December (poor, poor Machida)

That’s perfect! UFC should put you in charge of match-making. Good stuff.

great card, another feather in the UFC’s cap. anyone not attached to the losing fighters should agree that the decisions were all solid too, which the UFC really needed to have after the atrocity of Bisping-Hamil. whoever is calling for throwing out the 10 point scoring system to go to a jujitsu system is just plain wrong. first, this isn’t pure jujitsu, so why try to turn it into a jujitsu league? sure, it is one of the disciplines used, but not the only one, and if the UFC wants to keep building its market here in the US the last thing they should do is start using some complicated scoring system many fans here wouldn’t be familiar with. plus, fans love striking more than any other aspect of the sport, and they don’t want to pay $50 to watch some guy put on a takedown clinic wracking up points for a win. they want to see striking, knees, elbows, KNOCKOUTS.

And also anderson silva is not a pride guy! he only fought a few times for the organization. Was places before and after pride. fighters are fighters, prior to zuffa taking over pride, if there was a UFCvsPRIDE tournament it would all depend on if they fought in a ring or cage, makes a huge huge difference.

I find it interesting that when most fans talk about the lightweight division, they leave out Frank Edgar. Who else thinks that this guy is the future of the division? He looked incredible against Tyson Griffin.

I think Edgar is the only guy who can beat Sherk because his wrestling matches up and his striking is better. As much as I like KenFlo, he’s not going to submit Sherk in a rematch.

Forrest did an amazing job.
He fought and had Shogun by the balls ‘til the very last twenty seconds. He didn’t want it to go to the judges but he had the option of tapping him out several times. He wanted a knockout but when it’s between submission and the judges,
take the submission. Way more reliable then the Judges.
“split decision.”
no, not likely.

Well, I have no explanation for CroCop. He lost, twice. The rumor is he was injured in his second loss, but who knows. So, those are two legit losses to two UFC HWs. However, Gonzaga does seem to be a top contender in the UFC. Kongo does not. But, it’s still up in the air as to what happened in that fight. Nonetheless, those are two legit losses, but I would argue only one to a non-contender.

Herring’s loss was to an incomplete (yet undefeated fighter). There is no excuse for that. But, Herring was never a Pride champ. He lost to Nogueira, he lost to CroCop, he lost to Fedor. He was an above average Pride HW, but clearly not an elite fighter. And, as I stated earlier, I’m not sure Jake O’Brien actually won a “fight.” He didn’t fight at all. But, I suppose it’s moot, as Herring wasn’t an elite fighter.

If we eliminate Herring from the equation (focusing on elite Pride fighters), the Pride record against UFC fighters is 6-3, with victories against Liddell, Franklin, Leben, Lutter, Eastman, and Sanchez and losses against Griffin, Gonzaga, and Kongo. So, former Pride fighters have defeated two UFC fighters who were the top competitors in their respective weight classes, two above average fighters, and two average fighters. UFC fighters have defeated one two former Pride fighters who were arguably one and two (Shogun and CroCop) in their weight classes in Pride.

The two top UFC fighter who got a shot at contending Pride fighters (remember, Jackson and Silva were not the top guys in their class in Pride) lost. The two top Pride fighters (I’m considering CroCop a top guy, although he was clearly number two in the pecking order) who got a shot at contending UFC figthers lost. That’s a push to me.

So, there’s the revised record of 6-3, with two wins against the top UFC fighters at the time.

My point is that, from this data, it doesn’t make much sense to conclude that Pride is number two. They’ve clearly held their own, and this is admirable considering that they’re fighting under new rules and in a new envirnment. UFC fighters have had to make no adjustments in that respect.

Those rankings are not my opinion i ranked them like that so if you were looking at who has beaten who, and that really matters to Joe Silva (the ufc match maker).

Rampage is number one because he is the champ
Houston Beat Jardine who Beat Griffin who beat shogun who has beaten Rampage
Stephan Bonnar is Ranked because he has a win over jardine
Tito Beat Griffin who beat Shogun
Chuck Is inter-changeable between 5-10
Rashad Beat Bonnar who beat jardine
