I can’t see the video, Id like to see Chuck win too. That way it will set up his fight with Wandy. Any word on who Silva is fighting on his debut?

From Wandi, I heard, “….Rampage…UFC…December…Liddell…December…HAHAHAHA…Chuck…Thank you…” the rest I guess I needed subtitles for. lol

Wandi should fight Bisping..to warm up his knees, elbows, and knuckles..b4 touching up Chuck.

No clue right now. most likely top contenders… I don’t think even if Chuck wins at 76 that Wanderlei/Chuck will happen in december, I bet Dana saves that for early 08’
they will probably put Wandy up agianst Houston Alexander,
I think that would be a good bout’

BANG ON
Hope he is right with Chuck wionning and fighting him in december!

Even if Chuck beats Jardine, I don’t know if Chuck would be healthy enough to fight again December. Chuck is notorious for getting hurt in training camp and at his age having two big fights back to back might really push his body over the top.

I think we will see the best Wanderlei ever for his fight in December. I just hope that Chuck is healthy too.

Totally agree with Phil. Give Wandi to Bisping. Like lambs to the slaughter.

I already got my plane tix and hotel for UFC 79 in Dec, I hope its Wandi vs Chuck, please Santa bring this fight for XMAS for me, but if not put Lambert against Wandi since Gouviea got injured, they won’t out Alexander against Wandi too much risk, they don’t want Wandi loosing, Alexander is a beast, I don’t even know what he is doing in lightheavyweight, he should move to Heavyweight.

DanaBLK beat me to the punch that I doubt that they would match up Wandi and Houston. They will NOT put Wandi in there with anyone that has a chance at beating him. Imagine if Chuck beats Jardine, but then Wandi lost to Alexander and we NEVER go to see Liddell/Silva. That would suck. Dana would not allow it to happen. We will end up seeing Wandi fight the like of a Ravishing Red or King of Rock ’n Rumble.

Wandi won’t kill Alexander in the clinch especially in UFC, maybe back in Pride Wandi could have taken Houston with soccer kicks and stomps, but in UFC only one other big guy that could be better in the clinch than Assassin is the Natural.

Not to say Chuck will beat him,..but he has a good chance….
Wanderlei won’t fight Elvis…are you nut’s…he want’s to prove himself to the none pride fc fans…Houston would be perfect!!!!
And like i said "I would bet it all that Chuck/Wandy don’t happen this year……

Yeah Houston Alexander is the best fighter in the world in the clinch. Its always easy to tell that from two whole UFC fights with mid tier opponents. Give me a break guys. Hes a tough as hell, but clinch game against Sukarra doesn’t mean second to only Randy. Anderson Silva at 185 could probably out clinch Houston for one.

yeah I like to through out Anderson Silva statements cause’ he’s so damn good it’s usually pretty hard to debate them. That guy must have started his clinch/striking game in the womb. He’s just a step above the rest. I feel bad for Franklin.

C’mon, have you not learned ANYTHING from this year? Cro Cop was supposed to own the UFC HW division and fight Randy after beating Gonzaga – but he LOST. Big Nog would have gotten a title shot with a decisive win – but he couldn’t pull it off decisively – so no title shot. Heath Herring was the ‘hired gun’ to beef up the HW division, and he loses to Jake O’Brien. WHY IN THE WORLD would Dana sign Wandi only to set him up to never fight Chuck. It makes no sense.

I agree with what you say as far as who Wandi wants to fight. Of course he wants to fight the best. The volume on the video is VERY low at my work. What does Wandi say when asked if he wouuld like a tune up fight before fighting Chuck? To me, it sounded like he said “tune” somewhere, so I thought it meant he wanted a tune up fight. Can someone ‘translate’ for me?

Do I want to see Wandi fight Elvis – no. But do I want to see Wandi lose to the like of Houston Alexander before fighting Chuck or even Tito – NO WAY.

I want to see Wandi vs Chuck or Wandi vs Tito. If they dare ruin both of these fights by having Wandi lose his first fight in the octagon, there well be MANY dissappointed fans and one big dissapointed Dana White.

Wandi shouldn’t even be put in the octagon UNLESS it is against Chuck (EVERYONE wants this fight), Tito (to avenge loss), Rampage or Henderson (for belt/avenge loss)

To be honest, I think that Shogun’s performance against Forrest will have an impact on what I think about the current state of Wandi.

“Forget the womb?..this guy started muay thai while he was a little sperm” Now there’s a CHAMP!! He will hold that belt longer then anyone/any division champion..trust me, i see him holding thaT belt for at least 3 more years.

I posted that on Sunday, other people read the post and agreed with me. Now you are on here saying that wanderlei will prolly fight houston, stop spreading Rumors!

People are really overestimating Houston’s clinch based on 2 whole fights. He could very well have an insanely good clinch, but I see no reason to compare him to top dogs like Anderson Silva or Couture. Until I see him hang with a top Greco-Roman wrestler or Muy Thai fighter the jury is still out.

The odds are Wandy will fight Chuck in December, barring a loss to Jardine. This fight has been delayed too much already to risk it getting jacked up again

As far as Alexander goes, I say have him fight either Nakamura or Machida. Those 2 are borderline top 10, or at the bottom (depending on who you ask). A fight with either would answer a ton of questions, and the winner would have great momentum

I never said that fight is gunna happen, i was using i higher rated 205{houston} as an example
Wanderlei already said he will only fight top ten fighters!
I didn’t steal your ?great? idea…im not starting rumor’s i was saying something Wandy has already said,…
And i don’t know what you guy’s expect? but i would hope the ufc doesn’t milk wanderlei’s first couple fights so they make sure he doesn’t loose. cause that would be bullshit!!
“say they do give Wandy/Houston” and say Houston does win"
that doesn’t mean Chuck/Wandy won’t ever happen!!!
This is the sport! top fighters should be fighting top fighters…thats the business…
They shouldn’t give Wandy eaiser fights..look what did happen when they milked cro cop fights! Loses could happen either way!!

by HeadKnock on Sep 12, 2007 12:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Houston Alexander is impressive but let’s not forget that he was almost knocked out in the short fight with Jardine. His chin is not up to half of what some of these other guys can take. Jardine got caught coming in for the kill. He needs a few more fights to really cement his place in the standings.

I do not think you will see them feed anymore Pride guys to lower tier fighters, it’s too risky. If they lose to those lesser names it is a wasted investment. Better to feed them to the sharks from the start and at least get 1 good hyped fight, even if some new fans do no know them.

ViolentMike: I just herd the interview and wanderlei says that he doesn’t want any tune up fights. He will fight chuck in his 1st fight. It will happen december 29 if chuck beats Jardine.
It will suck really bad if Jardine knocks out chuck, because then the wandy vs. chuck fight will b postponed again.

If Jardine spoils the chuck vs wanderlei fight by defeating chuck, Jardine will become the most hated person in MMA.

Listen to the interview. Wandy will not have any tune up fights. As long as chuck beats Jardine, Wandy will have his 1st fight (against chuck) on December 29th.

He also predicted that Rampage vs. Henderson would go to a decision.

I’m worried about Chuck vs Jardine as strange as MMA has been lately. Hopefully Chuck can make me a believer again.

Houston Alexander…I can’t wait to see more of this guy. He is very entertaining to watch devastating guys in less than 1 min in two fights by KO and TKO!!! This guy is handing out prision style beat downs left and right!! I say throw him to Rashad or Tito and if he wins impressive there…move him up to a top contender.

by jimmy_dean on Sep 12, 2007 1:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Everyone is giving Houston too much credit. He has bull rushed his opponents quickly and has the punching power to KO people. Jardine took him very lightly and was caught unexpectedly. I suspect his next opponent will come in with a gameplan. I see many holes in his game, the main one be stamina. Not to mention he is a Cornhusker fan. Wandy is a world class fighter who trains hard for every fight. He would destroy Alexander.

Thanks John, I couldn’t hear what he was saying. I left my headphones at home, and it super quiet without speakers.

The way this year has been with upsets, I would not be the LEAST bit surprised if Jardine beats Liddell, EPSECIALLY now that the Wanderlei Silva/Chuck Liddell fight is riding on it.

Honestly, I think its retarded. The two of them should fight NO MATTER WHAT – even if Jardine wins. C’mon, its not like Chuck is going to get any better and all of a sudden start taking people down and roll around looking for a gogoplata. He’s going to stand up, sprawl, and couter punch you until he knocks you out, or you knock him out. If Jardine wins and we don’t get Liddell/Silva in December, then what’s the point? They are only going to get older and older if you wait for each of them to be on some sort of winning streak at the same time. Who knows, that may never happen again. From about 2002 – 2006 they were the most dominant fighters at 205, undoubtedly numbers 1 and 2 in the world at that weight. Now, neither of them are #1, and with Rampage and Shogun in the mix, I don’t see it happening anytime soon. I say that because I don’t see Chuck beating Rampage and Wandi and Shogun won’t fight so if Shogun gets first crack at title and wins, Wandi will sit back.

Man Houstan should definently not get any more tuners, forget it and throw him in there with someone legit, I gonna jump on the Houstan/Wandi fight, he is a tough guy Houstan, but can’t see him hangin with Wandi, if Houstan ever gets in a fight longer than 2 minutes, I think he would tap out. Did you see how hard he was breathing when Joe was interviewing him after his fight at 75 right now? But besides that, I think Wandi is better anyway.

I agree that Chuck and wandy should fight reguardless of the outcome of the Jardin, Liddell fight. I also wont be surprised if Chuck looses to Jardine. Hopefully Chuck will come into this fight without the beer belly. I dont remember chuck ever loosing 2 fights in a row, so hopefully Chuck will get back on track because although, I dont c Chuck ever holding the LHW title again, having Chuck at the top of his game, will enable us to c More interesting fights.

After chuck Liddell, I wanna c wanderlei fight Henderson for a 3rd and final time.

The 1st time wanderlie beat Henderson, wanderlei kneed Henderson in the back of the head and Henderson wasnt the same in the rest of the fight, ultimately loosing a decision to wanderlei.

In their second fight. Wandgerlei supposedly mhad 105 degree fever, and was diagnosed with strep. I didnt find out about that until after the fight, but it made sense because wanderlei looked unusually sluggish. Henderson ended the fight with a KO over wanderlei.

I wanna c a 3rd fight between the 2. This time with both fighters comming in 100% healthy, and without any illegal blows. That way we can have a clear cut winner to this awesome mma saga!

Dude, Wandi was dominating Hendo in that first fight from start to finish, before and after the knee strike to the head. I think if they fought again, it would go alot like their first.
Wandi vs. Houstan. With Wandi hopefully winning.
Then Chuck will smash Jardine, I would be suprised if he didn’t, and it will be Chuck vs. Wandi. That would be ideal in my mind.

Being from Omaha, I can’t wait for Houston to fight again. I’d really love to see him get thrown into the mix of mid/top contenders now. He’s got to fight someone with at least a little name recognition to build him up. I don’t know if it’s Wandy, especially because you run the risk of Wandy getting a beat down in his debut (unlikely, but possible), but I’d love to see him against Tito, Forest, or Rashad. I don’t think any of them could hang with Houston.

YES YES, put him in with Rashad, I HATE Rashad, in the post fight conference with Tito, he made Tito look like the mature and respectful one, lost alot of respect for Rashad that fight. And Houstan on the contrary, erased my first impression of him as a punk in his first fight with Jardine, and showed big time respect and sportsmanship in his last fight at 75. He seems like a cool guy after all, and I definently wanna see him tested, don’t think he is ready for Wandi, but Rashad is a little step up and I think he would have no real problem with that step. I wanna see Rashad lose SO bad.

Wanderlei is not the only one who wants Chuck to win.

I think it is almost every single UFC Fan’s little fantasy match-up between Wanderlei and Chuck.

I don’t know who would win this, Wanderlei has a record of 2-3 for the past 2 years, but he should be rested and relaxed, and he has fought in the octagon before so he sould not have that fright.

Chuck needs to be healthy after this fight with Jardine, but knowing what all set-backs this fight has had, I would not be surprised if either Jardine won, or if Chuck wins, he will get hurt, and will have surgery and will be out till Mid-2008.

How mad would you be?

Wanderlei and Chuck need to fight in Decemeber. Just when you watch the Chuck fight, pray for Chuck to win, and to be healthy.

THEY (THE UFC) wont feed wandy a guy like houston, it could go the wrong way and then wandy has no credibility of being as bad as they say for the fans unfamiliar with his fighting in pride, i say fight chuck or tito………..( period ). and then whoever from there, no exceptions,,,, and the only reason i say tito is because he has beaten him once already, granted that was years ago

I REALLY wish everyone would leave Alexander alone. He got lucky against Jardine, THEN moved down in competion to fight Sakarra who was coming off 2 straight losses to Drew Mcfedries and Dean Lister. Am i the only one that sees that? Can’t wait till i see this guy dissapear. The standing over Jardine made me hate this guy.

Yes, Wandi stops Houston 9 out of 10 times. I’m just curious, have you seen his non-UFC fights? I haven’t, so I have no basis on which to say whether or not stamina is a hole in his game. All I know he knows how to finish guys.

Also, just a general observation, why is it that when someone new comes in and KO’s people, a lot of ppl say “Let’s see his BJJ”, but it doesn’t happen the other way. If a new fighter subs his first opponents, I don’t hear ppl saying “Well let’s see if he can kick a guy in the head” lol.

Sorry dude…..Im from Omaha and Im friends with Houston…..Houston has over 200 fights to his name winning 90-95% of them…..but nice try……Houstons trainer Mick Doyle……is one of the best trainers around as well…..trust me his stamina is there……anyways….I hope they give him some big name……If he fought Tito…..his head would just explode because the dude has a HUGE HEAD to begina with!!!!! Im thinking maybe the Forrest/Shogun winner……who knows….time will tell……all I can say is you best bring your “A” game against Houston…..his hands are bricks……

THE AXE MURDER could fight with his eyes closed and his hands tied to his ankle’s and he would still KO the iceman.

Wow, you guys need to stop with the hate. This guy has had only two ufc fights and won both of them in 2 minutes total. What more can you ask of him? BTW, how can you sit there and call the guy a dirtbag? Wow, his immediate post-fight reaction is contraversial at worst but he shows his opponents respect later. I suggest you read some of this guy’s interviews before you start insulting him as if you know him on a personal level. Also, Sakara was coming of a win against Victor Valimiki.

Let me guess, you two think he’d get brutalized by Michael Bisping since he’s a top tier fighter right? LOL, fighters like Bisping are less proven than Houston. This guy KTFO’s Jardine and people are saying it’s a fluke. Then he comes out and does virtually the exact same thing to Alessio and it’s still a fluke. Also I don’t buy this BS about Jardine underestimating him. How are you gonna get into the cage with a ripped, mean looking guy across the cage from whos in there to knock your head off and then underestimate him?

If Forrest beats Shogun does he get a shot at a tittle ?

i don’t think you have to worry about griffen beating shogun at this point.sure forrest is a very game and tough fighter but he doesn’t have the experience to beat a fighter as well rounded as shogun. that’s almost like putting bonner in against wanderlei as a tune up fight which i don’t think either shogun or for sure wanderlei want. Now maybe that’s a bit of a stretch considering that bonner should have lost his fight against jardine and forrest is clearly moving up,like he should have been the winner against ortiz, but my point is that i just don’t know if forrest is ready for someone of shogun’s talents or experience.we’ll certainly find out. maybe it’s time to see what forrest can do against someone like shogun, who in my opinion will his toughest opponent to date.i like forrest alot,he’s a very game fighter who can take punishment,i just hope he’s not in over his head with shogun, who i’ve watched and liked since meca fc and of course pride fc. i also like chuck but i feel he had better be careful aganst jardine who’s heavy handed and can also take punishment. i don’t think this is going to be a cakewalk for chuck. when you think about it maybe it’s time for all of these lhw’s to step up and see if they really got what it takes at least at this point in their careers.i hope forrest does well but i just can’t see him beating shogun.i think they have the potential to both be good fights though, and we all know what can happen in the fight game eh!

Only guys who can beat WANDI are hendo which wont happen again i dont think, and Shogun who he wouldn’t fight.

Out of Shogun and WANDi, whoever makes it to Quiton first will be the new champ!

I think that being a ‘friend’ of Houston Alexander has seriously biases you opinons! Yeah, I’ve heard him say the ol’ “I’ve been in a thousand street fights, and won 95% of them…yaddi yaddi yaya…” That’s great for you dude, but this is PROFESSIONAL MMA son. The fact that you beat up your neighbors cousin in your backyard during your labor day picnic of 2004, doesn’t really matter when you step foot into the octagon! He only has 6 fights on his PRO RECORD for a reason – that’s how many sanctioned, pro fights he’s had. And speaking of which, who in the world are those people that he has fought and beaten??? I mean, I only heard of one of them, Jon Murphy, and I just heard of him recently because he fought at the recent EliteXC card against Huckaba.

Do you really think that Houston will fight the winner of Forrest/Shogun? NO WAY! He doesn’t even yet deserve to fight the loser of that fight. If Shogun wins, he gets title shot, not Houston Alexander. If Forrest beats Shogun, it will be the biggest win of his career. Forrest is already one of the UFC’s most popular fighters, so if he does beat Shogun, do you think that he deserves 9 steps down in competition? NO WAY. I think that if Forrest wins, he gets Wandi. THen the winner of Forrest/Wandi gets title shot. Makes a WHOLE lot more sense than the winner of Forrest/Shogun gets to fight Houston Alexander in the parking lot of the local Wal Mart after hours.

I wasnt disrespecting houston, i think he has alot of talent, but cmon, he really hasnt fought anyone other than jardine, that is worth a flip. jardine caught him and didnt jump on him and yes he did immediately come back with the impressive ko, but lets face it all i was saying is he hasnt fought anyone in his pro status. i am looking forward to him fighting someone who is a more rounded fighter with a stronger strike defense and more well-rounded before i give him the credit he is do

Alexander vs Silva? Gimme a break, a couple knees and Houston would find himself staring up at the pretty lights. Alexander should find someone with a decent name, no disrespect to him but he hasn’t proven he can fight top talent yet.

Thats fine let them put Houston against lower tier fighters ….he will destroy them as well and it wont benefit him any…..Houston wants to fight the best to be the best……I was saying i was hoping he would get to fight one of them guys….its a big step up and obviously he needs that as nobody he has fought yet has challenged him…..your entitled to your opinion just like I am…….but Houstons next fight should be against a top 10 fighter…..so who do you think they should put Houston up against?

Funny, when I first came on here and mention Houston after his first fight, yall questioned my sanity. Now look. Truth is, if he was to fight Wandi, can Wandi handle the punching power, I think this guy would give rampage a run for his money if it stay on the feet. Some people just got it, and he does.

Put him against Forest, I really dont see Forest making it out alive

It’s a fight with adrenaline rushing through your veins & blood being spilled. So its ok to try & kick or punch someone into submission but not stand over them in dominance after beating someone who talked trash about you? What, did you want him to sing Jardine a lullaby or something?

“Do you really think that Houston will fight the winner of Forrest/Shogun??? NO WAY! He doesn’t even yet deserve to fight the loser of that fight.”
I think Houston is the biggest up and coming fighter right now.
Thinking of all the 205lb guys I’d match against Jackson I would only put Houston in the ring. He’s on the only one that would give Jackson a run for his money.
I think Houston would stomp Chuck (the state chuck has been fighting in) and Shogun would be a great fight (once shogun recovers from his injury)
Tito and Chuck both seem to be on the downhill which sucks because they were two of my favs. Jackson, Houston and Anderson Silva are the most impressive fighters currently!
