Get ready 4 a great season and for Hughes to dominate Serra, win the belt back, then lose it to GSP.

They could get a translator!

Which one of these fighters this season do you think will puss out due to cutting weight!!!

I wish they would make them all be at fight weight or they cant get on the bus!! I hope they solved this problem this season!

And lose the drama of a guy crying while cramming ice cream cake into his face? Perish the thought.

Dana White should give us jobs, eh?

Nobody listed power drinking and playing pranks as hobbies. This season may not be as much fun.

lol. I hope to see a lot of trash talking with Serra and Hughes. I always think its funny when you get Serra all rawlled up, he is very annoying, and I want to see Hughes shut Serra’s face up and embarass him.

Web site kind of sucks compared to what they do for the PPV fights.

by EdenMachine on Aug 28, 2007 5:34 PM EDT reply actions

I just hope they focus on training and fights and not so much on drama and other peoples bull@*$#. I’m probably asking too much though.

by JJC on Aug 28, 2007 5:52 PM EDT reply actions

Love the show, but the streetfights and drinking is only stunting the growth of the sport. Its damn entertaining though

Serra has little to no chance against Hughes, only way serra could ever beat anyone in the top ten is punchers chance….period. No way he could submit gsp or hughes and if it went to a decision in 100 fights either of those guys would win, every freaking time, sorry serra fans but the only reason serra is champ is freakish luck. Hughes will mop the floor with serra I would be willing to bet my House that if it goes to a decision Hughes wins….easily. Hopefully they don’t have blind judges like 2 of the ones in the gsp/koscheck fight where gsp obviously won the first round, he was on top of kos easily a minute longer than kos was on top, weird. Hughes and gsp will be fighting again which sucks because there two of my favorite fighters, but I expect gsp to win as he’s much more well rounded, and admittedly Hughes has even worst odds than serra did of t(ko)ing gsp standing. I would like serra more if he would learn to shut his yap, constantly like a broken record telling anyone who will listen that Hughes is a dick, buddy its getting a little old get some new material. The thing that makes me laugh is now serra thinks he’s got some deadly hands LOL after a fews months of boxing, serra could box full time for 5 years and still not be close to gsp’s level. Diego also thought he had some deadly hands and the mediocre kos showed him how far he has to go, “reality check”. Bottom line is anything can happen in MMA serra could ko fedor, its possible but highly unlikely but it sure as hell wouldn’t convince me of serra’s stand up prowess. Anyone who follows MMA religiously knows Hughes is very likely going to win this one. I would say Hughes chances of winning are even better than gsps were, because Hughes will eliminate punchers chance and take him down and pound until they stop it or it comes to a decision.

by nathan on Aug 28, 2007 7:27 PM EDT reply actions

Serra might try to kill Hughes when he wins, that little hot head.

by nathan on Aug 28, 2007 7:30 PM EDT reply actions

Or better put when hughes beats serra, serra will attack Hughes who I’m sure will be gloating and drive serra insane with anger.

by nathan on Aug 28, 2007 7:32 PM EDT reply actions

I would like to see a north america (RC) vs Asia (Hidihiko Yoshida)vs South America (Nog) vs Eur-Asia(Cro-cop or Fedor)

Give each team 4 fighters (From thier land mass)and Randomly pick each round, NO HAMMER (Leave it to fate)

OR even a Sport Specific type show.
Take people with strong grappling backgrounds vs guys who are strong strikers (Jui Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling vs Boxing, Kick Boxing,Etc.) NO PRO-MMA EXPERIENCE. Make the show interactive by making the audience vote to see who gets to fight.

by Robin on Aug 28, 2007 7:45 PM EDT reply actions

Both Hughes ans Serra are annoying to me Serra a little less tho,

I can see Hughes being too strong for Matt although i wouldn’t rule him out, I’d like to see Serra win and GPS Beat Serra, although a rubber match between Hughes and GSP sounds hot!!!

by quinnyMMA on Aug 28, 2007 8:26 PM EDT reply actions

how did they not pick Anthony Johnson after his absolute demolition of Chad Reiner at the last fight night. Unless they got that dude for some more upcoming fights they are stupider than they were when they picked Noah for that last season. jesus.

great idea! But it will never happen because unfortuntley fedor’s not going to sign with the ufc.

Im going to pick now. Tom Speer wins the whole thing. He has a pretty good record and I saw his last WEC fight. The guy has freakish strength.

by Mahde on Aug 29, 2007 12:47 AM EDT reply actions

My pick is Tommy Speer also. However, thats just from reading about each of the fighters….haha. He seems to be very athletic…..as are most welterweights. I just have a good feeling about him. He kinda reminds me of Ed Herman, but maybe thats just the red hair.

by marcel on Aug 29, 2007 2:52 AM EDT reply actions

ya know for as much as everyone hates hughes (myself included) he is a damn good fighter. I do rhink he would beat GSP. Hughes honestly seems to learn from his mistakes and if you notice him fighting its as if he goes in phase… dominant, good, and then he gets bored and loses. I think he has the fire back in him… look for him to be back on top again for a while

yo Nathan, u chat crap. Id like to see you bet your house – you’ll be in a cardboard box after the fight. Serra won me alot of money against GSP, hes no joke, dont think for 1 minute he aint training like a champion, he’s gonna wreck hughes, “freakishly” like he did GSP. go on, bet your house on it big mouth!

Hey Nathan, maybe Hughes can just kill himself so Serra doesn’t have to!!!

by i bread on Aug 29, 2007 9:04 AM EDT reply actions

This sounds like it’s going to be a great season. After 73, we had to wait for, what felt like ages, until 74 and now we got an awesome September lined up. Neither Serra nor Hughes are my favorites, fighter wise, but they both got that TV personality so it’s going to fun to watch. Plus, I really respect what they’ve both done.

I’m hoping for this trend to continue so we can see a middleweight TUF. Let’s get some big prospects in there to raise up that class.

Question: I thought the Serra and Hughes fight was pretty much set for December (perhaps as a co-main event to a Liddell Silva fight??). I read that it was now being moved to November. Anyone know anything more on this?

I hope that is not true!! I know they have some issues to work out!! For God’s Sake the UFC needs this guy, yeah they will continue to make millions without him, if Dana is as much of fan of the sport as he says he is then this must happen.

Let Fedor fight other places sign him for a one fight deal and then decide what to do after he takes the belt!!!

It is a true shame if they(UFC, DANA, JOE SILVA) dont pursue Fedor to the very end!!

When I woke up this morning, I thought to myself maybe today will b the day, I log on to this site and the top thread reads:
UFC signes FEDOR to a 20 fight contract!

That woulda started my day off beautifully.

Anyone know the exact day that Fedor will be meeting wit Dana?
I need an update on the Fedor situation!

Your throwing your money out the window, give it to some charity and put it to some good use, betting on serra is the equivelant to burning it.

by nathan on Aug 29, 2007 2:20 PM EDT reply actions

Serra is not anywhere close to Hughes’ league. Hughes will dominate Serra, and beat him so decisvely that Serra will never fight at ww again. Serra is a middle of the pack fighter, and his JJ will have no effect on Hughes. Hughes is way to strong for Serra to ever submit him.
Serra is a cocky little putz who is milking his 15 minutes of fame for all it is worth. Hughes will bring him back to reality.

Thank you Nathan for speaking the truth! Hughes won’t loose don’t get it confused. Serra’s nasty broken record mouth will get put in check! I know Hughes and I know what he’s about.(And his brother!)That’s Right. Anybody thinks otherwise, come talk that stuff in Paris Illinois! You’ll walk in, you’ll limp out! Don’t believe it? come see it! Guaranteed. AKA Hughes County.

Sincerely,

Tony P. Draper

by Tony Draper on Aug 30, 2007 2:57 AM EDT reply actions

You tell ‘em, Tony. Serra has run his mouth for way too long. Hughes will destroy Serra, and then he will defend his belt until he retires. That’s right, he will defend his belt until he retires, because he will go back to what got him to the top, wrestling, slamming, and ground and pound.

by Steven on Aug 30, 2007 8:48 AM EDT reply actions

Serra vs Hughes…to be honest, I’d like to see a new contender emerge. I was one of few that’ll admit that I picked Kos over GSP. Yeah, I was wrong, but I kind of wanted to see another TUF veteran get a crack at gold. Stevenson is close. Forrest’s fight with Shogun will be bad for Griffin. Rashad NEEDS to beat Tito. Diego fell down the ladder a little along with KOS. Kendal just lost. If I’m missing any other TUF vet’s, I’m sorry. I guess after watching those guys, I can’t help but to root for most of them. Some haven’t paid their “dues” yet and I understand that. I’d love for a UFC version of Fedor to come out of nowhere(like a replacement) and just tear up a division.(doesn’t matter which one)
