UFC Quick Quote: Frank Mir vs. Frank Mir at UFC 74

"My worst enemy is me. If I'm firing on all cylinders, I'm capable of beating anybody in the world; if I'm not, I'm capable of getting beat by anybody in the world."
-- Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir tells MMAWeekly.com what others have been saying since "The Baddest Man on the Planet" returned to action since a devastating motorcycle wreck nearly killed him. We'll see who is the worst enemy tomorrow at UFC 74: "Respect." Will it once again be Mir or his opponent, Antoni Hardonk?

I like OldSchool Mir..Pre Accident..Mir should win this fight..but a fight is a fight and you never know what will happen until it happens.

I’d like to c Mir get back to his pre accident form. His groound game was very technical and always exciting.
I think he will win 2morrow!

Hardonk should fight Kongo in a grappling match to see who is the worst in the division in terms of ground game.
This is the perfect guy for Mir—-he’s retarded on the ground. If Mir cant take this to the mat and submit him I’m afraid he’s toast.

Hopefully if Mir wins, we get to see him back on the win column. After that I hope we see him get in better shape and hopefully one day be a contender again in the UFC Heavyweight division. I still think he has the talent ans skill set to make a name for himself again in the UFC.

A back-to-old-form Mir would be an awesome addition to the heavyweight division. Couture, Gonzaga, Mirko, big nog, Sylvia, Vera, Arlovski, Werdum, and the real Mir? WOW, we’re living in a golden age right now, I might shed a tear if Fedor ends up in the UFC.
BTW, I think Mir is an awesome commentator for WEC, he explains the technical aspects that can go unnoticed MUCH better than Rogan or Goldberg. If his career never relaunches again, he’s got a sure job in MMA commentating ahead of him.

Well like alot of people I like the old Mir.It will be good to see Mir break something again, fight a slugger an choke him out,I would love to see Vera vs Mir II.An that will show two things,
1.Mir is still at the top of the divison.
2.VERS IS ALL HYPE.(imo he hasn’t showen me much maybe vs silva I’ll see suttin)

Does this make sense to anyone. He is saying that if Mir wins, hopefully he’ll get a win in his win column. Why, how do you usually keep track of fighter’s records? “Randy Couture just beat Tim Sylvia. Now who should get the win in thier win column? Let me flip a coin to find out”
When you get a win in a fight/game/contest what ever you compete at, you get a win in your win column.
Some people….

Haha Mike. Reminds of me of my favorite Sammy Hagar/Van Halen line from Why Can’t This Be Love: Only time will tell if we stand the test of time.

at least he’s not in denial about it, not knowing is half of what can beat you.

And knowing is half the battle.

Mir needs to destroy Hardonk, in my opinion. He has to prove that he is capable of being the Frank Mir he was before, not just for himself, but for this division. If he can make a strong comeback and show us some serious skills, than the heavyweight division could begin to make the argument that it is nearly as stacked as the welterweight.

I hope to hear a nice announcement from Dana during this paper view. Is their any possibility that Fedor is signed, and they just kept it quite to make the announcement during this pay per view. This is a big event, since we havent had won since 7/7/07. Could the signing of Fedor have been kept quite? is that even a possibility, that big news like that could have been kept from leaking to the press.
I’m probably dreaming but how great would it be if Dana White invites Fedor to the ring tomorrow night and introduce him to the American public as his latest signing. WOW that would be more exciting to me then any of the fights! Please Dana, stop keeping Fedor from us! It’s Cruel and unusual ppunishment and we don’t deserve it! U signed everyone else…. time to push your ego to the side, open up ya piggy bank n get the Russian Experiment in the octagon! I can’t wait any longer!

i would love to see the old mir back… but i’d also love to see a guy like hardonk improve his ground game, and with rickson gracie training him in bjj, i think hardonk will be much improved from his last showing

I was dreaming the same thing. I think I would lose my mind if they did that. How cool would that be.

I have said it many times now..some may dissagree. A healthy pre accident Mir could hang with the top Heavy’s in the world. When he claims he’s his worst enemy…I believe that. He obviously doesn’t fight the same and he doesn’t feel the same. It’s pretty clear. I just wish he would snap at of it

I agree with him, I think it to be true for everyone. How many times do we here fighters say, “Something was wrong, or I wasn’t right” when they loose. A preaccident Mir with good conditioning will be a benefit to the HW division!!!

God I hope he can get back on track like before, before he is out of his prime. He is 27 or something, he has some time, but c’mon Frank, hurry up!!! PLEASE!!!

I think that Mir lost a lot of things in his motorcycle accident, including his confidence. I don’t ever see him even coming close to the top 5 of the HW division again.

Scott do u think a huge story like that could have been kept from being leaked to the press? A story of such magnitude would be hard to keep secret, but it would put a great big exclamation point on the UFC’s summer.
It can be possible cuz I dont think Dana has discussed Fedor talks publicly for about 3 weeks now, and u kno at the least they have been negotiating, Whats goin on, I need a Fedor update!
Dana give us fans Christmass in August an announce the signing of FEDOR tomorrow night, PLEASE!!!!!
