UFC 78: 'Troll-zon,' er, Lauzon at it again with Karo fight?

joe lauzon troll
Two weeks ago, rumors raged that Joe Lauzon would fight Karo Parisyan in his next bout at UFC 78. It was a bizarre match up, considering the two are in different weight classes (155 and 170, respectively). But it came direct from Lauzon on an Underground forum post.

Was he serious or just "trolling" the thread? Well, he's at it again on JoeLauzon.com.

Here's a snip:

"There have been rumors flying around about my next fight, and who it will be against. I posted in a Tito Ortiz chat room that I would be fighting Karo Parisyan, and the rumors made it over to MMA.tv and other major MMA Web sites. Everyone has been asking about it ... from kids running up to the me in a movie theatre to guys asking my trainers at their jobs. I couldn't comment on it until now. I indeed will be fighting Karo Parisyan at UFC 78. Following in the steps of BJ Penn ... I took on the "baby" nickname ... I will be training in Hawaii... and now I will be fighting at 170 pounds in the welterweight division. Part of the reason for moving to Hawaii is to not only work on my MMA training, but also to study under BJ in Burrito Consumption to help get my weight up. All I can say to Karo is: "That Judo sh*t ain't gonna work on me!" I have been doing some research, and apparently Karo learned quite a bit of his Judo and striking from Reggie Warren Jr. I have contacted Reggie, and he has agreed to help me train for Karo as well.... Another exciting aspect of the fight, is that the UFC has secured the Easter Bunny as a special guest referee, and the Kool Aid Man will be working my corner between rounds to keep me hydrated."

Lauzon may have also picked up a few things from Penn in terms of driving traffic to his Web site. In the wake of his win over Jens Pulver at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 Finale, "The Prodigy" stayed in the Octagon just long enough to tell viewers to visit his site.

Not surprisingly, BJPenn.com crashed soon thereafter.

This one sounds like a joke ... but you can draw your own conclusions.

Wow! great fight. Karo is light year’s ahead of this kid. Karo talks alot of shit but he alwys gives a good show. Kind of a step down fight for Karo, who a couple of months ago was bugging about a title fight after Matt/Matt. Obviously he needs to do something between now and then but Lauzon is not the answer.Lauzon should stay in155

by Stafo on Aug 13, 2007 3:05 PM EDT reply actions

I think the last third of the quote pretty much proves that the Karo fight was a joke.

by IceMuncher on Aug 13, 2007 3:10 PM EDT reply actions

Man I hope this is a joke, BJ and Karo might even be interesting(I give it of course to BJ), so I think Karo would smash Lauzon pretty convincingly.

by The Anomaly on Aug 13, 2007 3:17 PM EDT reply actions

This better be a joke… I have no desire to see Karo kill Joe.

by TRavis on Aug 13, 2007 3:18 PM EDT reply actions

No way would joe stand a chance against karo. joe is not even a big lightweight. he would be a tiny welterweight going up against one of the best welterweights the ufc has to offer

by matt on Aug 13, 2007 3:24 PM EDT reply actions

I agree with the rest , Karo would kill Joe at any weight.

by Dayzah on Aug 13, 2007 3:35 PM EDT reply actions

I want to see Nick diaz vs Karo part2.

by PhilQNY on Aug 13, 2007 3:37 PM EDT reply actions

I’m just impressed the UFC landed teh Easter Bunny as a special guest referee. Then again, it is his offseason…

If anybody still thinks this fight could possibly be true, I have a beautiful beach-front property in Montana I’d love to sell you.

great pic though huh guys ? Funny, but yeah what is Joe thinking, that he has a future as a WW? I would rather see Nate Diaz move up to fight Karo. Joe vs Hughes, GSP, Karo, or even Swick at 170 would be pointless…

by BLOodyMEss on Aug 13, 2007 3:42 PM EDT reply actions

HAHAAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Joe Lauzon…you are GONNA GET YOU ASSS BEAT!!!! If this is real, 1. What are u thinking accepting this fight Karo??? Fight someone that will get u on the road to a title shot. 2. What the hell are u thinking Joe? u really think u have a chance against the top welterweights in the world even if u got a miracle and beat Karo?? your best chance was to stick to lightweight.

by stunnalator on Aug 13, 2007 3:52 PM EDT reply actions

Personally I don’t like Karo at all. Hasn’t everything seen him in UTF 5? He was acting like a dick toward Nate Diaz and I really started to dislike that guy. I’m rooting for Joe. I wanna see Karo get destroyed by him.

HAHAhaha
NICE FACE

by George R on Aug 13, 2007 3:59 PM EDT reply actions

What is Joe Lauzon thinking? He would have done really well at Lightweight. His body frame is suited for Lightweight; if there is a Bantamweight again; then that weight division would be even better for Joe. Joe Lauzon is going to get destroyed; I think that Joe thinks he can do the same thing to Karo that he did to Jens. Does Lauzon think he can hang with guys like Hughes, Serra, GSP and Koscheck? Lauzon started to have a fan following, especially considering that he defeated a legend in Jens Pulver. Lauzon would be one of the better up and coming Lightweights in the UFC, but he has a lot of work to do, if he thinks he can ever make a splash in the UFC at 170!

by Red on Aug 13, 2007 4:02 PM EDT reply actions

Joe, I would love to celebrate a victory for you man, but it might be a little soon for that. A victory would definitely earn my respect.

PhilQNY, I agree. I would much rather see Nick vs Karo part2.

Congrats, you’ve managed to freak me out once again with your disturbing pic.

I think Lauzon could beat Gonzaga with training from Reggie Warren Jr.

by marshal on Aug 13, 2007 4:16 PM EDT reply actions

A joke for sure. There’s no way this is for real. Karo is a contender and Lauzon is no where near it. And Karo’s Judo sh*t would work on him too well. Sounds like BS to me.

by jess on Aug 13, 2007 4:22 PM EDT reply actions

Wild rumors gone wild!

Karo is due a title shot with the… sheesh-
the “((Matt/Matt)/(GSP/Kos))” winner, so why would he mess around with Lauzon?

Lauzon is a computer weenie so he knows how to spread the buzz.

by Mamas Boy on Aug 13, 2007 4:26 PM EDT reply actions

I wonder what Karo has to say about all this?

Karo: He isn’t giving me the proper respect to fight me. He has to earn the privledge to fight me, He could be fighting for the rest of his life before that happens. He has no idea what I could do to him!

by c-war on Aug 13, 2007 4:39 PM EDT reply actions

The ‘Judo shit’ comment was something Diego Sanchez said before that fight…I don’t recall how far into the fight it happend, but Diego did get tossed fairly quickly, and quite a few times in the fight.

For those who actually think this fight is happening…

I have some magic beans I’d like to sell. Your wildest dreams will come true if you pay me the low, low fee of $2000 per bean. They may look like normal Ranch style beans, but all of your wishes/dreams will come true! Since I started growing them my bank account has been full, my whine glass overflowing, and my bed never deprived of beautiful women!

Seriously, if the burrito-eating comment didn’t give it away, the easter bunny and kool-aid man should have. BTW I have hidden the word “gullible” in a comment somewhere on this site. I’ll give you $1 million if you can find it

by Yohnstoppable on Aug 13, 2007 4:50 PM EDT reply actions

I’m not sure if the CSAC would give referee licenses to Mr. Bunny or Mr. -Aid. as both of them would greatly hinder the performance of the fighters to their A) girth or B) adorableness.

This is a fairly even fight as long lauzon

by Holdin Ropes on Aug 13, 2007 6:42 PM EDT reply actions

This is hilarious. The thread posted by Lauzon couldn’t be any clearer… the Lauzon/Parisyan fight will not happen. It talks about the Easter bunny, the Kool-Aid man, putting on weight by eating burritos, and getting trained by Reggie Warren! I have to say this is some pretty funny stuff by Joe!
And as farcical as the thread is people are still making comments like “A victory would definitely earn my respect” “Joe Lauzon…you are GONNA GET YOU ASSS BEAT” “I’m rooting for Joe” and “Wow! great fight”
People are stupid!

by Chris on Aug 13, 2007 6:43 PM EDT reply actions

This is a fairly even fight as long as Lauzon keeps his chin protected sprawls well and brings a gun to the cage.

Karo will judo flip him through the canvas back to the light weight division.

by Holdin Ropes on Aug 13, 2007 6:47 PM EDT reply actions

Did people actually read the damn thing or not?…Or simply are you all as retarded as you’re (I say that in jest, not for real) leading me to belief.

What I’m actually hoping is that you guys are pretending you think it’s true and are simply trolling. Oh the irony. Come to think of it, for some of you I’ll give the benefit of the doubt as sarcasm doesn’t always translate too well in print.

But hey trolling here would be pretty witty and smart.

by RobH86 on Aug 13, 2007 7:40 PM EDT reply actions

I’d guess that maybe Joe’s brother, or another friend, found his computer logged on and decided to eff with him. Just a guess, BTW.

That’s what I’m talking about. Now that is a fight I want to see.

by tripleainto on Aug 13, 2007 8:49 PM EDT reply actions

I think its an obvious joke, and with that being said karo would destroy joe, I think karo would kick his cousins arse and look what happened when joe fought him. How any one could take this seriously is laughable, Karo is a top five welter weight, scrawny joe probably isn’t in the top ten in the light weight division LOL. Joe is obviously messing around and using his usual wit and sarcasm, if someone takes this seriously they can’t pick up on obvious humor.

by nathan on Aug 13, 2007 8:55 PM EDT reply actions

After he annihilates Parisyan, he’ll probably move up to Middleweight and destroy Anderson Silva. And you know what comes next, his real goal: quick move to LHW to hospitalize Rampage with his crazy “J-Lau One-inch Punch™”.

It’s a little known fact that J-Lau once knocked a guy clean out of the octagon.

This is a fight I can’t wait to see! Parisyan. Ha! Judo crap. J-Lau will so completely massacre The Heat.

by MMACrossfire on Aug 13, 2007 9:19 PM EDT reply actions

Karo is underestimated. He deserves a shot at the belt more that anyone. Sounds like Joe is doin big old Maui Waui bong hits out in Hilo.

by godisnowhere on Aug 13, 2007 10:01 PM EDT reply actions

It would be nice to see BJ vs Karo… Karo would whoop BJ’s overrated a*s.

by Mike&Ike on Aug 13, 2007 10:02 PM EDT reply actions

Karo deserves a title shot? Didn’t Diego Sanchez beat him and knock out a tooth? That was a great fight.

BTW – This whole thing has to be a joke. Joe is a tough guy but not at Karos level (or weight). The fact that we are all talking about it here is all Joe wanted…A little hype. He really has been training with Penn hasn’t he?

Karo Parysian

As a fighter: Fucking excellent, very technical and beautiful to watch, always improving.

As a person: A complete utter fucking moron, a stupid fucking tool with a major chip on his shoulder.

Joe Lauzon

As a fighter: Excellent fighter, very resilient, determined, physically strong, technical, and smart fighter, and exciting to watch.

As a person: Nice bloke, humble, respectful, motivated, always learning something new.

CMON Joe!! KO this Armenian motherfucker!!!!!

Joe’s nickname should be the serial killer. Look at that face, I bet his own mom is scarred of him.

Phil: Good call: diaz vs Karo 2 would be awesome

Yeah Yeah Yeah..my peeps!!

by PhilQNY on Aug 14, 2007 8:13 AM EDT reply actions

I wouldn’t mind seeing Nick Diaz – Karo 2 even though it seem at the time the Heat was a little to hot to handle for Diaz. Interestingly Diaz wasn’t to cocky before this fight in fact he didn’t seem all that confident, he actually said that it was a bad match up for him. Pt 2 would still be a good fight though, neither of these two have boring fights. A as far as I’m concerned a descision just means more action. I’m ok with that when it’s fighters like these.

by ade on Aug 14, 2007 8:50 AM EDT reply actions

I want to be Joe Lauzon for Halloween. That way I can scare the crap out of all the children in the neighborhood so that they go running up the street in terror, hopefully they will drop their sack of candy.

I bet someone can photoshop that picture of Joe’s face and paste it onto the body of something from a horror movie, a baboon, or something it would look hysterical. I’d do it, but I wouldn’t know how to post it. The baboon may look the best. Joe Lauzon – the alien baboon from space!

Regarding his comments about fighting Karo 0 OF COURSE he was kidding. But the question I have is what kind of stupid ass humor was that? It wasn’t funny at all. He’s just running his mouth acting like a nerd. The only thing I believed was:

“Part of the reason for moving to Hawaii is to not only work on my MMA training, but also to study under BJ in Burrito Consumption to help get my weight up.”

Way to go Joe Lamezon

by ViolentMike on Aug 14, 2007 9:30 AM EDT reply actions

Lets just stop talking about this cuz this fight wont happen for atleast 2 years. This whole topic is pointless, yet somewhat entertaining.

I am very curious to c who Karo will fight next. everyone good has been booked.

Hughes n serra will fight december
GSP vs. Kos August
Sanchez vs. Fitch in September
Where does that leave Karo?
Only other fighter in the division that isnt scheduled to fight that would be exciting is shinya Akoi(which isnt signed to the UFC)

So who the hell will AKaro fight next?

by john on Aug 15, 2007 11:16 AM EDT reply actions

karo is gonna kick his ass.Manny Gamburyan beat down Joe Lauzon for 3 rounds when he was kinda injured what does that tell you.karo will win no problem who knows maybe karo can get his first knock out win in the ufc that would be kool
