Ohhhh The UFC Withdrawls !

Am I the only one who would MUCH rather see Guida/Aurelio or even Babalu/Heath than watch Huerta fight another UFC newbie??

I guess making the cover of SI will guarantee you a spot on the televised card, even if you’re fighting a ten-year-old kid with a broken arm.

by cmon on Aug 2, 2007 10:28 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

ummm am I on my own with this one or does anyone else notice that a reminder on coverage and blow by blow commentary is just a wee bit premature?? THE PAY PERVIEWS CLOSE TO A MONTH AWAY STILL!! Maybe we should get some more Randy Couture game plans and interviews where they ask him the same questions about how he beat Tim Sylvia and his game plan for Gonzaga. Or better yet more Gonzaga training montages with follow up questions about his crop cop knockout and game plans for Randy!! OHHH BABY THINGS ARE HEATING UP NOW! ANyone have any vid’s of serra doing plyometric training for his fight in December it’s right around the corner. Sorry guys just frustrated I need my monthly doasge of mma.

That’ll all come. By the time this thing starts heating up, I’ll be slammed. I had some time this morning so I just got the reminder out of the way. Use it as a chance to talk about the fights. I, for one, am very upset about the Guida-Aurelio bout being on the undercard. I’d like to see Babalu over Grove-Cote, too.

Plus, Couture as an underdog is news that I havent passed along yet … it’s a good bet for folks to lock in those odds.

I’m done explaining myself. Have at it.

Creeks: I hear u man…. this waiting period has been tough… I hoe to never have to wait this long in between events again. From August 24 – September 22 should be a very fun time for us fans…

I really wanted to c “maximus” Aurelio vs guida… that fight has fireworks written all over it..

I dont give a shit about huerta untill the UFC puts him to the test against a quality opponent(garcia had heart), but I wanna c him fight stevenson, or ken – flow. Time to find out if huerta is ready to climb the lightweight ranks. He had enough warm up fights… I wanna c him get tested!

The first thing I thought was Roger Huerta vs ANOTHER Newbie is televised and Clay Guida vs Marcus Aurelio is not. WHAT A JOKE. Does Dana have a Mexican Man Crush on Huerta and that’s why he was on the SI cover and the reason that he hasn’t fought a UFC veteran since, well I can’t even remember when. Huerta should knock this scrub out rather quickly, and if he doesn’t, Huerta should be on the undercards until he fights against top 5 talent.

On the other hand, EVERY Clay Guida fight has been Top Notch.

For those of you who don’t know who Marcus Aurelio is, he was a STUD in the PRIDE LW division. He submitted Gomi to give him his first loss in PRIDE, and then he lost to Gomi in a rematch in an extremely close split decision.

Guida is a much more well rounded fighter than Huerta, and you can’t even compare the skill and experience levels of Alberto Crane and Marcus Aurelio. So the only logical explanation would be that Huerta is a handsome fellow who Dana is trying to market (possibly to get some of that female demographic to watch more UFC). Huerta is especially handsome when compared to Clay ‘the Geico Caveman’ Guida.

Hopefully more fights will air than last time because there are a few good undercard fights. I don’t see there being a bunch of decisions in these first few fights…Hopefully we’ll see more than the 4 or 5 fights that were televised last time.

Funny how it doesnt even say Randy vs Gonzaga on the main card fight. I guess they forgot to put the main event on there..lol

by Stunnalator on Aug 2, 2007 11:40 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Completely laughing my ass off right now Violent Mike, “handsome fellow” and "geico caveman are now ufcmania instant classics. Gotta say though, even as we all know Clay Guida is a better all around fighter now, his UFC record is 1-2. It does seem to me that they give him extremely tough opponents. Did he sleep with Dana White’s girlfriend or something because he doesnt catch a break. Auriello is a tough MF.

They are bring Huerta along very slow like Ive said. He will probably have another tune up fight after this (UFC newbie) and then face someone like a Frankie Edgar or the loser of the Din Thomas / Spencer Fischer fight.

Guys who are possible oppoenents for Huerta after this fight

1. Another UFC newbie
2. Frank Edgar
3. Tyson Griffen
4. Loser of Spencer Fischer / Din Thomas fight

Sherk being the champ cant fight him since he has a date with BJ Penn, Joe Stevenson and Kenny Florian are a level above him in the standings so any one of the above mentioned would make a nice fit.

Well I too, am a bit dissapointed about Guide and Aurelio being on the undercard. The Kendall Grove and Patrick Cote fight I dont care as much about. Most any middleweight fights that arent championship or number 1 contender spot isnt worth watching over any other fight from a different division.

by c-war on Aug 2, 2007 12:38 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

guys i hope you have seen the war between huerta and matt wiman.

the guys a battler, and fun to watch.

and on top of that, crane is a bb in jiu jitu, and a mundials champ as an american. that puts him with BJ Penn.

by iliketowipemyownbutt on Aug 2, 2007 1:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well put C-war, Kendall Groove is still an undercard type fighter and considering that he is fighting Patrick Cote, this is more of a fight you would see on Spike tv.

155 pounders put on way more exciting fights than 185 pounders, so aside from Kendall Groove being a “name” why else would his fight be aired ? He hasnt has one fight where fans had their jaws wide open.

Clay Guida versus Marcus Aureilo is going to be a true war and definitly top five fights of the year.

by Kevin Kelly on Aug 2, 2007 3:00 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I didn’t realize just how weak this PPV actually is. I mean, especially since we had to wait like 7 weeks for it. Then we have another PPV just 2 weeks after this one. With 7 weeks between PPV’s, they should give us a good one.

The fights I care about:
Randy/Gabe = of freakin course

GSP/KOS = I just want to see at least one of them get hurt very badly. Unfortunately for KOS, it will be him.

Guida/Aurelio = The BEST fight on this card by far!

Stevenson/Pellegrino – ONLY because if Stevenson wins, when Sherk is stripped of the belt, this win should put Stevenson into a fight vs Penn for the vacant belt. Or if Stevenson wins, he can then fight either the winner of Fisher/Din or the upcoming fight between Thiago Tavarez / Tyson Griffin to see who fights BJ for vacant belt.

Those are the 4 fights I want to see for sure! And I bet that a lot of you would agree.

Then, time permitting, show me, in order:
Grove/Cote
Babalu/Heath
Huerta/Crane

That would be 7 fights. Of course they should show us every fight on the card, but that will NEVER happen.

But am really pissed that Guida/Aurelio is not on the main card. I mean how many people think that the GSP/KOS fight will be a better fight than this one? Cuz I don’t even need to ask if it will be better than the Huerta/Crane, Stevenson/Pellegrino, and Grove/Cote fights. That can just go without saying.

I know Kevin. In a recent thread, from yesterday, I was writing about Clay Guida and his decieving record. I think it was in the Drago thread. Because he is 1-3 in the UFC, and some was saying that Drago is the man. I was laughing at him saying that anyone that is 1-3 in the UFC is NOT the man. With the lone exception being if Clay Guida has another Griffin-esque fight with Aurelio and loses another close split decision. He would then be 1-3.

Does Dana White have a girlfriend? He seems way to self-centered to even think about another person, if it that person was someone that would blow him multiple times a day and take it every which way. ALL Dana cares about is making money off of MMA.

by ViolentMike on Aug 2, 2007 3:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Absolutely love the 155 pound division. So many possibilities. Lets for the rcord assume that Sean Sherk is cleared which very well will happen.

Championship fight
Sean Sherk vs. BJ Penn

Joe Stevenson vs. Kurt Pellegrino – providing he wins, Joe becomes clear # 1 contender.

Kenny Florian ? Needs to fight a top ten guy to become the clear # 2 or # 3 guy … How about putting him up against Frank Edgar who I think is ranked at # 5 seems like a solid indicator of what could be.

Din Thomas who I have ranked currently at # 3 needs to be Spencer Fischer who is a top ten guy TO MAKE A CASE FOR TITLE CONTENTION. If Spencer Fischer does in fact win, a fight with Joe Stevenson seems likely considering both will have the same amount of rest time before their next fights.
(Possible #1 contender match)

If BJ Penn loses to Sean Sherk, I think having him fight Clay Guida or Maximus Aureilo, whoever wins, would be a nice step up for one of those guys.

A solid match up to get away from the UFC newbies that Joe Silva throws at Roger Huerta would be to have him fight Tysen Griffen, or when he comes back at the end of the year Melvin Guillard spells FIREWORKS.

by Stafo on Aug 2, 2007 5:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I see two fights in the undercard I’d rather see than Kendall and Cote. Sobral and Heath, and Guida against Aurelio. They always seem to do that atleast one time per UFC, last time they didn’t air Frank Edgar pummeling Bocek.

by Theman on Aug 2, 2007 9:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

UFC needs to sign more top 10 LW. I think they r just trying to b lazy n promote the lightweights they have and eventually squeezing them into the top 10… It wont be ligit, because they haven brought any pride LW except aurelio.

THey gotta get:
Gomi
Ishida
Kawajiri
akoi
gilbert “el nino”
“Mach” Sakurai
Shoalin
If they wanna legitimize the division
Is dana gonna bring back nick diaz (warrior)

And get some damn middleweights in the UFC! im hearing rumors that hendo will stay at LHW. Big mistake the middleweight division needs hm bad. who else is ever gonna challenge The spidai, plus I wouldnt mind seeing Hendo destroy Rich Franklin

I do, and I like Guida, but it’s not even a questions of who should be on the main card, (GSP or Guida).GSP always has exciting fights, even when he loses.

disapointed, LOL huerta could break a wet bag with those spaghetti armpunches. Crane is going to either suffocate huerta,or he will make him tap do to arm locks. Review Crane’s fights and tell me differently, he is a world champion in grappling. Crane might not have fought in the UFC but don’t hate on level of competition when Huerta has fought four times in the ufc and still not fought anyone on the whose whose list of mma.

by crane wins! on Aug 16, 2007 12:33 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

doug evans was whooping huerta. huerta is a ok fighter with great build up no show hype. If you watched their fight evans was embarrassed after having lost with no damage being done by huerta’s non existent punching power, even when he has an opponents back. Evans with more submission knowledge could have ended that fight in round one. Crane wins! via choke sorry roger you pansey there will be no more illustrated covers for you.

Dude, this fight is a guaranteed win for Alberto. I trained with him in New Mexico, and he is a TRUE BAD ASS. Anyone who thinks Crane is just another newbie is about to be slapped in the face.

If Randy loses, this will b the worst weekend ever. I have to put my dog down in a few days because of kidney failure. I just watched UFC 68 THE UPRISING, when Randy won the HW title. I’m really pulling for my hero to beat the odds again. If I ever needed him, I need him to come through for me 2nite.

by i bread on Aug 25, 2007 3:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

To all those who are saying Crane will beat Huerta…what?!? Crane’s previous opponents have a combined losing record. The best opponent he has ever faced “Javier Vasquez” tore his acl in the first round and Crane still couldnt finish him…It went to a split decision. Doug Evans is an incredible wrestler, Crane is not. Huerta will be able to dictate where this fight goes and will probably tko Crane in the first. There are reasons the odds are heavy in favor of Huerta.

by Rex on Aug 25, 2007 5:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Huerta is one of the “protected” he’s deffo expected to win this fight…but this is MMA, anything could happen. Though i think he is a young fighter that will deff get better. So like Bisbing it’s not a bad thing that he’s working his way through the lesser fighters, all of the protected will have to stand up and be counted one day, there seems to be a lot of bashing on this site, but do ANY of the fighters get to “pick” their fights? I doubt it. Maybe some fights get influenced by hype which results in certain fighters getting what they want.. Bottom line for me personally is that we get to see good fights all in good time…

You can’t tell me you’re not all looking forward to Couture Gonzaga tonight… Then Henderson n Rampage…

I just can’t wait for W.Sylva to get in the mix….sick shiz

A TON of money is coming in on Gonzaga the last few days, and today, and has gone from underdog to favorite. Couture went from being a -160 favorite to a 150 dog. That takes alot of money to move lines like that so we shall see if the late money is the smart money. Let’s hope it’s a good fight either way.

by john on Aug 25, 2007 9:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

idk babalu is a great fighter or once was a great fighter before liddel and lambert but i doubt he will ever get a title shot again look at the lwh division its stacked but hey u never know he is a very tough guy he did go 3 rounds with fedor so anything can happen

by elw189 on Aug 25, 2007 9:41 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Babalu is exactly like a GSP, you never know what fighter is going to show up. You can get the Babalu that wins 11 straight, or you get the Babalu that shows up, and decides he wants to stand and box with a boxer in Lambert, it makes no sense.

Babalu is great though, BUT this is a MUST WIN for him, if he loses he might be in WEC.

NC 17: What is your boy saying about the guida fight? did he deserve the split decision win, or did he get it because the judges had screwed him out of other decisions? Was it the war that many off us expected? I really wanted to c that fight on the main card!

Babalu went straight for the takedown, Babalu not looking very impressive right now as I can tell on this.

John he said Guida deserved the Unanimous, but only got the split.

I feel racism towards Clay Guida, considering he is one of the few cavemen still alive.

Babalu showed no class at the end of the fight, he held in the choke for an extended time after the fight and Steve Mazagatti had to forefully pull Babalu off Heath, Babalu could have killed him.

The fans are booing hardcore against Babalu for not showing class, he had to of held that choke in 10 seconds after he tapped and Steve tried to stop.
10 Seconds.

Well guys I am off to go downstairs to catch the fight I will be back on after Napao defeats randy.

HAVE FUN GUYS!

Renato “Babalu” Sobral defeats David Heath via submission (anaconda choke) in round two. Babalu held the choke after Heath tapped for a very long time. Fans aren’t happy with Babalu.

by UFCmania on Aug 25, 2007 9:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I can see fines being handed down to Babalu and possibly a suspension for that unessacary choke he held on Heath, he should of changed the decision to a no contest,
Horrible show of classman ship by Babalu.

Holding a choke 10 seconds later and Steve forefully trying to save Heath from dying.

Gonna laugh if Cote pulls off a KO.

by KneeToTheFace on Aug 25, 2007 10:18 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Cote takes the center of the cage and unloads with a right hand. The Canadian pushes Grove against the fence and in true Cote fashion, does nothing. Referee Herb Dean separates the fighters and restarts the action. Grove lands a solid kick to the midsection.

by elw189 on Aug 25, 2007 10:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

cote is a talented guy, but he hardly ever wins against anyone with talent…i’m noy sure kendall grove is any good either, he’s just alot bigger than anyone in that division. this is a weak matchup at best, way to go ufc for finding two wieners in the same weight class and MAKING them fight….should be to the death…….

Patrick Cote defeats Kendall Grove via technical knockout (strikes) in round one

HAHAHAHAHAH

by KneeToTheFace on Aug 25, 2007 10:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Cote, again against the fence, tries to lift Grove into the air but the TUF winner has none of it. Grove separates and lands a punch combo followed by a kick to the body. Cote then unleashes a big right hand that drops Grove to the mat. Cote pounces and after giving up on a rear-naked choke, pounds away until Dean steps in to save Grove at 4:45 of the first.

GSP beat Koz in a smart way…get the win. Not complete domination but he certainly controlled Koz on the ground which nobody expected (including me). What was clear to me was that Koz is not top tier (yet). I’d like to see GSP and Diego now.

How F)$&ing amazing was Couture tonight? He beat up Gonzaga like he was his bitch or something. That was surreal. He beat the living shiat outta that guy. Goes to show that Randy is the real deal and is capable of holding the belt.

I see that a lot of people are complaining about Guida vs. Aurelio not being televised but Huerta vs. Newbie is. I have to agree. But I don’t think the Guida fight should be televised. If anything, the Mir vs. Hardonk or the Sobral vs. Heath should have been. You’re talking about either former champions or former challengers in either of these fights. They should have the TV time over Huerta. You really can’t get mad at the fact that Grove and Stevenson are getting the main card fights because they won TUF and deserve to be there. But I think Huerta is going to get a “reality check” when he fights a UFC veteran. I think a good test for Huerta would be BJ Penn. What does everyone think about that? If not Penn, then Spencer Fisher. But what I’m trying to say is that Huerta needs to fight somebody. He already racked up five wins against nobody’s and in this day and age, five wins is just about the right number for a title shot. I don’t know about antbody else but I don’t want to see someone beat up a few scrubs, get a title shot, and win without even being tested in their previous fights. Any Comments? Let me know.

dont think grove prepared for this fight very well i thiunk he took it lightley

Why ,because he got beat by a better fighter? I don’t see why so many people counted Cote out. He recently beat Jason Macdonald, who in my oppinion is a better fighter than Grove. Sure he lost his first 4 fights in the ufc,but who the hell gets Tito Ortiz in their first UFC fight. He had some tough close fights which he ended up on the losing end. Dana didn’t give up on him for good reason ,the guy has talent.

Dee
I think you’re crazy to say Sanchez is the best fighter in his weight class. Yes he’s good but has a ton of growing up to do. Hughes is a tough one and (killing me to say this) GSP is the one to beat. Hughes dominated for a few years but got old and cocky. GSP has the skills and the want to win. It’s good to have someone to root for but reality has to set in at some point. In 12-18 months Sanchez will be a more well rounded fighter and will be a contender. Until then…

I suspect same thing will happen to those who are pro-bisping once hamill wins the maincard bout in London. A friend of mine told me that he went to tour Matt Hamill’s Training Center in Utica, NY and saw him training there. He is totally impressed by what he has seen. He was anti-Hamill and now is singing a different tune. It appears that Hamill has added more skill sets to his fighting style and is also fully aware of Bisping’s infamous “flying knee.” His stand up is looking even better as he is training with 3x national champion boxing Kimdu Bethel. Also is training with Ray Newkirk for BJJ skills. This is going to be quite interesting to see how much Matt Hamill has improved this time around.

I’m so pumped that GSP won. I had absolutely no doubts in him. It wasn’t quite as impressive as I would have liked to have seen. I knew he’d beat Kos to the punch, I thought he would have got a choke, but he didn’t. He looked pretty good picking Kos apart in the 3rd round but didn’t finish. That was kind of surprising. He pretty much landed blows at will. The one thing that I will give Kos for is he had a pretty good guard. I’ve seen GSP pass just about everyone’s guard with relative ease. I firmly believe the fact that he prevented GSP from passing saved his life tonight because GSP would have killed him.

So now, he’ll probably have to have one more fight and then fight the winner of the Serra/Hughes fight. I’d prefer to see the PPV in Canada that GSP asked for to be his next fight which I think may be Karo.

I’m so pumped that he’s back on track. He looked supremely confident and I thought it was kind of funny to see the look on Kos’s face in the last couple of minutes, it was a look of confusion/fear. I was laughing pretty good.

Anyway, GSP should have his strap back by spring of next year, stop holding the Canadian man down UFC!!! WAR GSP!!!

I’m by no means a koscheck fan but as far as gsp having better wrestling skills is a joke. No wrestler is comfortable on his back. I think that gsp looked scared too exchange on the feet the first two rounds then loosened up in the 3rd. Also which punch was lucky that knocked gsp out in the serra fight ? The first one or the ten other monster hooks that put him out. Serra is a top notch fighter and he’ll prove it in do time. gsp said it perfectly “tonight i got beat by a better fighter” nuff said

Couldn’t have agreed more. He absolutely dominated that fight. Should have been 30-27 across the board, but who cares really, he won! That takedown defense in the 3rd round was unbelievable. Dominating performane by St. Pierre and the best part about it is that he beat Koscheck at “his game”.

by Jake on Aug 26, 2007 6:59 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I had doubts about Couture belonging as HWT champ prior to last night but not anymore. He is the real deal. He’s so well prepared for his opponent. He’s definitely one of the greatest ever at any weight.

GSP looked awesome. The difference in skill level was apparent. Koscheck still has some work ahead of him on his overall game. Like Rogaine pointed out, this should give him some pointers. GSP absolutely schooled him (except for 90 seconds of the fight).

Huerta weathered another storm. I can’t believe there are posters on here saying he isn’t for real. He’s been tested in his last two fights by a superior wrestler (Evans) and a superior JJ fighter last night. He doesn’t quit and doesn’t get worried. I agree though- put him in against a top contender soon. He’s earned his path to the top.

Cote really needed that win last night. I wasn’t a big fan of his before but I’m looking forward to his next fight now. And Grove will bounce back. Maybe this is just what the doctor ordered for him.

Stevenson- frankly I don’t really like the guy. He’s like Sherk with some JJ skills and marginally less cardio. Please I hope Sherk gets stripped of his belt because I wouldn’t want to sit through a 25-minute wrestling match between those two.

Overall it was a satisfying night but I wish they would add a couple more fights to the televised portion. Too much BS in between fights.

He was not doubted, nobody said, “Napao is going to steamroll Couture and Couture will die” well, maybe not the educational fan.

COuture on paper against Napao was a bad match-up, and Randy looked INCREDIBLE.

GSP/Koscheck dissapointed me because Koscheck just showed he is not a complete MMA fighter, but the fight was fantastic.

This was a GREAT night of cards.

Kurt Pelligrino and Alberto Crane need to go train with Randy for endurance entraining.

One of the untelevised fights must have been responsible. just curious as to who made the mess.

LOL “gsp having better wrestling skills is a joke” what fight did you watch? And the punch that won the fight with serra was the one that clipped st.pierre behind the head and messed up his equalibrium(a one in a million hit) then it was easy pickings for serra after that, no fighter in the world could have won under those conditions, unless it was at the end of the round. Serra is a good fighter and under rated but gsp if way out of his league and would beat him 9 out of 10 times, easily. Serra could NEVER beat gsp if it went to a decision even in 100 fights, especially in a 5 round war.

And how did Koz get on his back? Oh yeah cause St Pierre was able to take him down at will and stuff his take down attempts. I would consider takedowns and takedown defense as wrestling skill and say GSP completely out wrestled Koz and is the superior wrestler, but aparently you don’t because somehow you still don’t think GSP is the superior wrestler even though there wrestling abilities weren’t even close. GSP may have not been a Division I national champ like Koz but look at the guys he’s completely dominated in the wrestling department (hughes, Trigg, Sherk, now Koz) and you will see he is actually the most dominate wrestler not Koz and it doesn’t hurt that he has one of the best standups in the welterweight and a very solid jiu-jitsu game.

Didn’t GSP train with the Canadian National Wrestling Team? Wouldn’t that mean he was training with wrestlers of a higher caliber than a Div 1 champ? Olympic medalists or Div 1 champ, who’s the better class of wrestlers?

GSP is Awesome. I think that he’d planned to out wrestle the wrestler and make a point that everybody who doubted him was wrong. GSP is head and shoulders above Kos in the striking department. If round three was any indication, if GSP had kept the fight standing, which he could have b/c he STUFFED everything that Kos had from the outside (one take down after a scramble up from the mat) GSP would have broken Kos up like a twig.

Randy is plainly AMAZING. If you’re wondering how old he is, he’s 44. I know this because Goldberg and Rogan mentioned it a couple of times….ok, about 70 or 80 times….each.

Can anyone explain to me what kinda drugs the judge was on that scored Aurilia winning the fight with Guida? I watched that fight on UFC.com (don’t waste your money its not too exciting) but I don’t see how you could argue that Aurilia one any of the rounds yet someohow one judge had him winning 29-27 (which makes even less sense cause that means there’s a 10-8 round in there somewhere). Seems like the judges have it out for him after he got hosed in the Tyson Griffin fight and then in my opinion had a clear 30-27 win and wins by split decision.

Huerta is one of the smarted fighters there. Just watching his fight, and Stevenson’s, showed me just how good they both are. Raw talent aside, they are thinking their way through their fights, and not really struggling.

I think GSP is probably the best wrestler in all of MMA.

I SOOOOOOOOO agree with that…All the smack they talked about GSP..name callin typical canook as they say..so babyish..I think whether your an American, Canadian, Brazilian, if your 23,38,44, what ever the case is, if you dedicate yourself to what you love and train for the fight you have a great chance to win,,All the smack and dishin never gets ya anywhere!!!! CONGRATS TO RANDY, GSP, COTE and the others who won..job WELL done!! =)

I agree with that, if kos was supposed to be the most talented wrestler, gsp schooled him, in a very humiliating fashion. I almost think gsp’s wrestling is better than his stand up, his hands are good but I’m more impressed with his leg kicks. I wonder what was going through kos mind as gsp was dominating him where ever they went, standing or on the ground. I have to give kos credit though for his submission defense and his excellent guard and lasting all 3 rounds.

Your havin a laugh! Im not a big bisping fan, but have no doubt in my mind he will dominate hamill…. dominate.

Finally, everybody who doubted GSP’s wrestling can shut the hell up. He did get taken down once by Kos, but overall he out-wrestled the wrestler. If Kos is the supposed to be the best wrestler in MMA, what does that make GSP? Very solid win by GSP. He fought a smart and cautious match. When GSP’s mind is right, there’s nobody that is better than him. His combination of stand-up, wrestling, and BJJ is amazing. There’s not a fighter in the division who is better than GSP in 2 out of those 3 things.

GSP also out-wrestled and out-grappled Otto, the man who also beat Kos for NCAA Div. National championship, at ADCC tournament.

Sure but when Arlovski fights a solid, smart and cautious fight to a unanimous decision, he is denied the title shot! Woe to the Arlovski fans…

You’re right , GSP didn’t strike much , he was too busy schooling Kos in wresting. GSP beat Kos in pretty much a wrestling match. Anyone who watched this fight and thinks Kos is the better wrestler, is living in denial.
