UFC Quick Quote: 'Koscheck not even close' to St. Pierre

"Georges is a bad man. People make a loss way bigger than it is. Georges just wasn't ready [against Matt Serra]; look at who he's beat, he's cleaned up the welterweight division. Josh Koscheck is not even close."

David Loiseau. Wow, talk about a name from the past. Did anyone see his fight vs Joey Villasenior in the first EliteXC event? This was his first fight after losing to Rich Franklin and Mike Swick. This was the first time I had ever seen a fighter in a ring/ocatagon that seriously didn’t want to fight. He practically treated his opponent as if it was his grandfather and did not want to cause any sort of bodily harm to him. Loiseau and his elbows were once one of the most feared weapons in all of MMA.

Now is is nothing more than a scarecrow. I might as well pay him $40 a day to stand in my backyard to keep the birds and squirrels from eating at my garden.

I use to really like that guy too. Too bad he just lost his edge. I dont get what happened to Loiseau. But as for GSP and Koscheck….. I think its a toss up. If Kos can connect he will knock him out. But obviously GSP standup is far superior. Who knows.

- “Now he is nothing more…”
WOW, I can’t type today. Sorry guys. Even though I’m sure most of you knew what I meant to begin with….
Loiseau went from a title shot to falling off the face of the earth just as quick as Justin Eilers.

If the serra fight didn’t happen few would feel its a toss up, most would think gsp would destroy koscheck, sad how one poor fight can hurt your image. When gsp destroys koscheck his rep should get back on track and he’ll gain back most of what he lost after the serra fight. I also feel Hughes will put things into perspective and serra will rapidly fall down the rankings of top welter weights.

I agree with nathan. you are never as bad as you look when you lose and you are never as good as you look when you win. GSP is the real deal as long as he can stay injury free.

I think GSP will come out strong and just walk through KOS like he did to Hughes. He will be on a mission now to prove him self again.
It should be a good fight but I don’t think Kos has the stand up like GSP and on the ground I think GSP’s jujitsu is far superior to KOS.

i wish he would move up to middle weight becasuse st pierre has a solid chance to beat anderson for that matter so does koschect anderson could not stop his takedownds and koscheck could just lay on him. everyone buys into the hype when a fighter is hot at one time rich franklin was unbeatable, at one time st piere could not be beat by matt

Yeah, on paper, we’d be waiting to see Tim Sylvia vs. Cro Cop at UFC 74. If we could figure out who beats who through stats and debate, there’d be no point in fighting. Don’t think it would make Loiseau feel better if he knew that I thought he’d clean Mike Swick’s clock.

Right on, Nathan. Serra lucky rabbit punch has thrown everyhting out of whack. GSP will giv Kos the fight of his life, and there is no way that Kos can handle his strikes. If Kos gets GSP down, GSP will be able to stand up, just as he did against Hughes, who is superior to Kos in every way.
After Hughes mauls and ends Serra in round one of their fight, hopefully we won’t ever have to hear from that cheeseball again.

Don’t say anything. Tell everyone it is a lesson learned and move on. Look forward and talk about Kos only.

Louiseau is obviously biased, but I agree that GSP is beyond Koscheck. I don’t, however, think that he isn’t close. I think Kos has closed the gap between himself and the top of the division, since his debut on TUF. I see it being GSP’s toughest challenge yet, but not one that he can’t handle.

Kos will be able to take gsp down unlike hughes in the second fight also all you guys keep talking about his jiu jitsu but the last time i saw him on his back he was tapping out before he got his arm broke by matt hughes in their first match but then again i have only seen a few of gsp’s fights. Loiseau fans or ex-fans should check out some of his earlier fights in TKO. Boy, was he tough. And merciless.
GSP vs Kos is similar to Anderson Silva vs Marquardt. Kos is an admirable fighter, but he is just not in the same class as GSP. He has never faced anyone as quick or as dangerous as GSP.
There is nothing he can throw at GSP that GSP couldn’t weather.
Loiseau’s right. GSP will have blood on his mind. He will probably look to finish this fight in the first stanza.

I would give koscheck a perfect 10 on his wrestling ability, the best in mma in fact but I would give gsp a solid 9, he’s pretty freaking good himself not such a slam dunk for koscheck. Plus I think gsp is stronger than koscheck, just as fast and athletic and koscheck has never faced as a good wrestler yet, of course he looks spectacular against submission fighters and strikers. Gsp did very well against good wrestlers hughes, trigg and sherk, not that there as good as koscheck but it makes me think he could hold his own, and this isn’t a wrestling match he’ll have to take knees coming in and be fighting a stronger, better at submission fighter than himself.

I think its hilarious the way that people are reacting to GSP’s loss against Matt Serra. Georges is an INCREDIBLE fighter and like all top fighters sometimes they get caught and get taken out. We’ve just seen the same thing happen with Chuck.
GSP completely annihilated Matt Hughes and displayed some unbelievable versatility in the process. Before that he convincingly defeated BJ Penn, Frank Trigg and Sean Sherk. How the f**k can anyone seriously doubt a man that has taken out THE TOP 170 pounders in the game?
Koscheck shot on Diego once in their fight and it was quickly reversed and Sanchez ended up taking his back, Kos will deffo try to shoot on GSP but we all saw what happened when Hughes tried to take him down.
Koscheck is extremely tough but he’ll have to get quite LUCKY if he’s gonna win this fight (Just like Serra did).

Ok i agree here that koshcheck is a talented fighter but he is also one of the most boring and dull fighters i’ve ever seen. Watching him fight is like a 15 minute dry humping show. The only reason he beat sanchez is because deigo had a massive staph infection. And for whoever the moron was who said GSP hasn’t fought anyone, just for the record he has beat Karo, Trigg, Sherk, Jason Miller, BJ Penn and destroyed Matt Hughes in the rematch. GSP will DESTROY Koshcheck.

So you seriously think if KOS had been given a shot at Hughes or Penn He would of beat them? Look how cautious he was against a shaky Diego Sanchez. It pretty obvious Sanchez wasn’t himself and KOS barely won that fight. I doubt GSP is taking KOS lightly and I doubt he feels he’s going to blow right through him. I hope GSP wins. If GSP can give angles and control the distance masterfully like he did in his second fight against Hughes, Kos will have very few takedown opportunities, giving the advantage to GSP.
However, if Kos does take GSP down, I hope GSP is either as good as Chuck in his ability to get back to his feet, or fights very well from his back (we haven’t seen much of this). Otherwise Kos winning by blanket is a very real possibility.

And GSP isn’t an athletic freak? Kos will be able to take GSP down like Sherk did ,I meen DIDN’T. Mike Swick said, Sherk has a better shot than Kos does and he’s seen both first hand. Georges stuffed all of Sherks takedowns like nothing and took Sherk down with two explosive shots. If you watch all of GSPs fights you’ll see that he is WAAAAAAAY better than when he fought Hughes the first time(watch Hughes 2).GSP has a lightning fast sprall that no one can seem to get past. KOS more athletic than GSP maybe the same i doubt more though. And you cant judge GSP so harshly against Hughes who on the ground is a BJJ great. Kos is explosive fast and a great wrestler. GSP on the other hand is a great MMA fighter Kos will be there someday. But anything can happen. the only way i see KOS winning is to swing for the fences. GSP’s bread and butter used to be on the ground. I think the reason he lost is he noticed how good he was on his feet. But if you look at all his early fights he takes the guy down and in come the rain of elbows..
There is a distinct disadvantage to fighting on your feet.. that is you might get unlucky and caught by a fight ending punch.
GSP really just needs to take heavy strikers down and overpower them on the ground. And stand up with wrestlers.
If GSP would have taken Serra down the fight was done in round #1.
GSP vs Wrestler = Standup and strike
GSP vs Striker = Take him down
If he does that he will win his next 15 fights unless the UFC can introduce some WW talent that is on his level.

I don’t dislike serra first of all, good for him but his fist only connected with gsp’s face after his equilibrium was f**ked. I highly doubt serra meant to hit gsp at the back of the head, serra connected as gsp ducked then gsp had wobbly legs, serra connected hard twice to gsp’s face and he went down. In the state gsp was in I could have tko’ed gsp, if you’ve ever had your equalibrium f**ked you’ll know what I meant, any welter weight could have beaten gsp in that state, I’m bewildered why some can’t see that. Serra won fair and square though, sucks to be gsp but anyone who knows anything about MMA knows gsp is by far the better striker and fighter, shite happens and being a better fighter doesn’t mean your going to win every time, you just have better odds. I still think the odds were pretty close to 10 to 1 and serra won the jack pot and I’m not jumping aboard the train, look at sanchez and riggs then diego and koscheck, I knew it would give diego a false sense of his striking and now serra thinks he’s some big striker LOL. Hughes will put everything into perspective and we’ll have a real champ again not some lottery winner.

Your 100% right. I like GSP a lot but Serra connected.. If you had to do the fight 10x over i don’t beleive Serra would win 10% of em.. So in that aspect he got lucky.. but then again.. It’s GSP’s mistake for standing up with someone who has heavy hands when he could have just rushed him to the ground and proceed to pumel his face in.
Props to Serra for winning. and Shame on GSP for loosing.
It was his fight to loose or win and Serra did what he needed to do.

Serra actually got luckt with the decision he got over Lytle, and we all saw how Hughes easily handled him. Hughes will pick him up, slam him, punch him, and end him in the first round. Then assuming GSP beats Kos, we will finally get the title fight that everyone really wants to see, GSP vs. Hughes III.

Kos is as far as right now just a hyped up wrestler with few MMA skills.

Kos is your typical “Johnny-Come-Lately” byproduct of the TUF series. In typical American fashion, he’s a fabricated hero by the UFC. An overhyped American fighter with little MMA experience, who’s ironically elevated to a top contender position against GSP. Sad enough, this can only be possible in the marketing rich environment of the UFC, where marketing a fighter to god-like status (Liddell) is the norm, even though their fighting abilities against global competitors are questionable.
I can’t wait to see these American Frat-Boys, White-Hopes, Johnny-Come-Lately fighters get their ass kicked by real fighters (Shogun, Fedor, etc) with real wars on their resume.

KOS is in for the experience of his life – I am even having difficulty finding words to describe it. Remember GSP/Hughes II when Georges had something to prove? It’s gonna happen again. GSP is younger, bigger, stronger, leaner, and more experienced. Although anything can happen as we know (one of the reasons we love MMA), GSP will dominate and KOS will be left trying to comprehend how one human being can be so good at something in so many ways.

If serra and gsp fought 100 times I would be willing to bet $1000 serra couldn’t pull off a tko in the first again.

Louiseau is obviously biased, but I agree that GSP is beyond Koscheck. I don’t, however, think that he isn’t close. I think Kos has closed the gap between himself and the top of the division, since his debut on TUF. I see it being GSP’s toughest challenge yet, but not one that he can’t handle.
no doubt kos is going to be tough but toughest…. so BJ sherk Trigg Huges they were stepping stones?

I myself am picking KOS by decision. Yeah GSP defended Hughes takedowns really well but call me funny, I think KOS is much more explosive going for the takedowns than Hughes thus giving GSP a harder time defending them.
As for sierra/hughes fight my pick goes to sierra via submission

Koscheck who? Who has he beaten besides Diego Sanchez?? Give me one credible fighter?? Forgive me if i’ve overlooked one. He didn’t even beat Diego convincingly. A couple takedowns to give him the fight…please man! How would this super improved so called Koscheck do against a BJ Penn or a Matt Hughes? He would get his ass served. Anyone thats ever fought before understands that sometimes shit happens. A loss does not mean that GSP isn’t the shit? Have you run down the list of athletes GSP has beaten. Matt Serra was the better man on that day. Matt Hughes is still a stud. GSP is still a stud. Koscheck simply put is not ready for GSP. I understand that marketing this fight you have to make all of the un-trained believe that Koscheck is capable. NCAA so what! If you asked off the record without the camera’s rolling Hughes, BJ Penn, Couture, Rogan or anybody else they’d tell you GSP…repeat after me GSP.
