I agree!!

Wishful thinking there dude…can’t wait to see GSP rebound off that fluke loss the Serra, and destroy KOS. KOS is going to find out what it’s like fighting one the top three (Hughes, BJ, GSP), something he has yet to do.

Remember how GSP rebounded after his loss to Hughes back a couple years ago…I’m thinking “deja vu”…

Win loose or draw, I’ll always be supporting that Canadian!!

I think I’m in love with GSP! He’s got da riddum…

Mark, Im with you. No way is Koscheck winning this one. I think hes money, and has a bright future. But if the real GSP shows up, it might get ugly real fast for Koscheck.

as much as i like gsp i just cant see him beating this guy after the mat serra loss. i have really big questions about his heart and his defense against strikes. he always seems to get hit pretty good in standup battles such as when he fought bj penn and when serra. he ate a lot of shots against penn. i believe that koscheck will find a way to penetrate his “D” and possibly knock out gsp plus his wrestling is excellent but so is gsp’s. i think it will be down to the striking, and the way josh’s has increased his boxing so well i believe that with further training he will catch gsp and it will be lights out.

That loss to Matt Serra was not the real GSP. Just like KOS’ fight with Diego was not the “real” Sanchez. That was GSP’s first ko loss, after he bead the best of the best. I like Koscheck as well, he’s very athletic and has improved his stand up, but he has not yet finished an opponent with his hands standing up, somethin GSP has done a couple times. Everyone is saying that KOS will be able to overwhelm him with his wrestling. I don’ think soo. GSP is an amazing as well, he may not have the resume KOS has with his wresting background, but that’s because while KOS was at school doing his wrestling “all state” stuff, GSP was training “MMA”. I just don’t think KOS will be able to handle GSP. He is very athletic, so I should make for an exciting fight anyway!

(I love how everyone is talking about this fight and not the main event…lol) GSP GSP GSP!!!!!!

I agree w/ both of you guys, as much as I have come to like Kos, GSP is just too good he is still #1 in my eyes, he made a mistake, he got too happy when he finally got the belt and didn’t think Serra had a chance against him and probably in reality hardly trained for that fight, before people judge him we have to remember that he is HUMAN like we all are and he made a mistake, and one that he has learned alot from, so please people dont get your hopes up w/ Kos, I mean he is a great fighter, but not on GSP’s level, just my 2 cents, what do you all think???

exactly dude. Although GSP is amazingly technical he is scared of getting hit. Penn and Serra fight both show that. Rememebr when his face was a balloon after the Penn fight? GSP even said this is the most Ive ever bled in a fight before. Hes just not use to it and if Koscheck connects just once its gonna bring GSP down mentally.

by djpullout on Jul 5, 2007 1:26 PM EDT reply actions

I totally agree with you Sanjaya (nice name btw)…KOS is definately a top contender in the WW division, but I just don’t see him beating GSP (especially considering who GSP has fough and beat.)

GSP will be fine. He’s young and sometimes your emotions get the best of you. We will see an improved and totally focused GSP. I can’t believe so many are thinking KOS has this fight after one loss to Serra. This guy destroyed Hughes and out worked Penn is that not enough. As for Couture…I can’t ever go against RC

GSP via KO in the 2nd round…..

by ACanadianPotHead on Jul 5, 2007 2:07 PM EDT reply actions

Kos is a grappler… he and sanchez stood the whole time because of respect for each other’s ground game… Staff infection or no Kos was the better with the fist that day. Sanchez never really proved himself as a striker… sure one lucky knee to get that knockout but that is all.

IMHO GSP has WAY too many weapons in his arsenal to lose to Kos… Kos only hope is a wayward swing that catches GSP like Matt the joke Serra

I feel this is going to be a three round war. I’m pretty sure Kos is going to be able to take GSP down at will. The question is once he gets him there is he going to be able to keep him there and do damage. I don’t think so. It will then come down to their stand up abitlities. We all know GSP is a beastly striker, but Kos has improved his striking every fight since the show. That being said I figure GSP will still be able to out strike Kos and win it that way. If Kos comes in and puts on a close fight and losses it shouldn’t really effect his career, but if GSP losses this one, I think it will be a long time until he fight for the title again. Just my opinion I’m a fan of both.

by MMALovinFool on Jul 5, 2007 2:26 PM EDT reply actions

GSP WILL KILL or at least give KOS some MMA schooling.

We all saw how he played with Hughes at will. I think the loss to Serra was all nervousness.

I think we’ll be surprised at GSP takedown defence against KOS. Again, KOS is an amazing wrestler, but has not yet faced someone of GSP’s strength of Hughes for that matter. Let’s not forget how goood GSP’s wrestling is, I wouldn’t be surprised if Georges takes Koscheck down….

I’m guessing GSP ends up getting his back and chokes him out, or GNP KO.

does anyone feel like napao will beat randy also? I believe the younger and more rounded gonzaga will be the next hvy weight champion. rc is a very talented fighter but his striking ability is what will have to save him against gonzaga and i dont think that he can do it. if you look at gonzagas resume’ you can see that this guy has won about 3 or 4 national jiu jitsu tournaments in brazil, which is an amazing thing to accomplish. so his ground game is above and beyond what many people may expect of him. plus he has proven that his striking skills are beyond average with knockout power. rc has a lot on his plate trying to defeat this guy. i know that he beat silvia but silvia relied on his freakish size more than skill to defeat opponents. i just cant see rc beating such a young well rounded fighter. anyone agree?

lol…I love it! I couldn’t agree with you more…I don’t know about “murder” though?? KOS will definately put up a fight…although I do not think he will be able to beat “the best WW in the world”…

KOS is gunna win, just like the diego fight every one doubted koschek, and see what happened, GPS is gunna be out wrestled and get pounded out in the second round.

If GSP loses, hell wlll freeze over. He’s training like never before. Think GSP/Hughes II. Here we are again – a man on a mission with something to prove. It will be a pure, clean, flawless display by one of the most talented MMA fighters on the planet. I’m talking brutal folks. It will be so one-sided it may not even be entertaining. KOS deserves alot of credit for his progress in the UFC, but what he is in for is beyond words.

No way GSP is going to knock him out.

GSP is one of my favourite fighters, Serra caught with a good punch and followed up well to finish him. Randy, Chuck, Cro Cop it happens to all the best fighters. Anyone can get knocked out, it is how you recover from this that determines what sort of fighter you are. GSP took a good beating off of BJ and didn’t go down, so I am looking at this as Serra just being a really hard puncher.
Kos has not fought the same calibre of opponents as GSP he has never really been pushed. He has had it fairly easy up until this point and I think that is going to work against him. GSP has fought the best of the best and won, this is going whole different level for KOS, and I think (and am hoping) that this is where we find out that he is not as great as he and a lot of other people seem to think he is.
GSP maybe knocking him out by knee during one his take downs or by choke the same as Frank Trigg

by Ade on Jul 6, 2007 7:47 AM EDT reply actions

Randy Couture may be the most underestimated champion the UFC has. I think he will display his sound boxing skills much like he did against Sylvia, where he picked his shots and delivered with a tremendous amount of accuracy. You saw how methodical his strikes were causing Tim Sylvia to cover up and as a result, takedowns followed. Wont be any different here as Randy wind in the 4th Roun via ref stoppage (TKO).

Josh Koscheck taking on George St. Pierre looks like a dream fight … on paper that is. I see the fight being pretty one sided for the mere fact that St. Pierre aside from being hands down a phenomenal athlete, is a total head case. He thinks wayyyy to much when it comes to fighting. In round 1 Kos will get a relatively simple takedown and work for side control, but probably wont get it.

Anyway….. St. Pierre will do tooo much thinking while on his back and overthink himself in to trying this or that. It will be during this time that Kos lands a decent shot and maybe a hard elbow not cutting St. Pierre but simply throwing him off of his game just enough to where in the opening or Round 2, GSP will try some retarded high kick almost inviting Koscheck in for a double leg takedown. Again I see no submissions endings or Knockouts ensuing by Kos but he will grind out a unanimous decision.

Kevin “cuts” Kelly

Its crazy how a fighter who we all know is probably the best in the world, can make one mistake and get caught and alot of people start writing him off, I am going to LMAO next week when all of you that are saying GSP will lose jump right back on the GSP wagon when he annihilates KOS, when KOS loses i will still be a fan of him because he has come a long way, and I hope he does give GSP a run for his money, give him 2 yrs to grow and learn and then he might be able tp dethrone the champ, which we all know will still be GSP once he takes his belt away from either one of the Matts…lol

by Sanjaya on Jul 6, 2007 10:06 AM EDT reply actions

Kevin Kelly….

Yes this fight might be one-sided, but if that is the case, it will be GSP kicking the shit out of Kosckeck. I like Kosckeck, he is probably the best wrestler in the division, but he’s fought a bunch of no-namers?? Like that hairy european dude, wtf was he?

This is MMA, who knows what is going to happen? But considering that last loss to GSP, he is going to come out and perform to best of his ability, in which case he will pick KOS apart and decisivly win that fight, no question. KOS is a good up-and-comer, but c’mon, this is GSP. The guy destroyed HUGHES, SHERK, TRIGG, MAYEM, KARO, HEIRON, and won a deserved desicion agaist BJ. Who has KOS beat?? Sanchez with a staff infection!!! And it’s not like he “killed” Sanchez, he looked terrible in that fight as well at 0

I just don’t see the logic thinking that KOS is gonna roll GSP?

GSP FOR PRESIDENT!!

by Mark Johannus on Jul 6, 2007 12:25 PM EDT reply actions

I am not writing off GSP in anyway. I never liked him in that I am a Matt Hughes guy all the way. I am impressed by alot of what GSP can do, but at the end of the day, you have to admit that he is very mental. He thinks a ton when is fights and is almost too methodical. If thrown off of his gameplan which I can see happening via takedown, I can see Kos winning a DECISION. No disrespect to any of you who think otherwise.
