The main event is descent but I am looking forward to the Fitch fight. Following this Fitch fight I would like to see him fight Karo which will truly prove how good he is. It will also test where Karo is in his new training ways, because he took apart Burkman. Although Burkman was ranked higher as a fighter I respect Fitch as a better fighter. I feel Stout will take Fisher out again

This and UFC 72 are getting little or no acknowlegement by most fans and UFN is getting 0 Love by any stations, on Spike the only thing I hear is UFC 72, but never UFN, so if the ratings suck, I blame spike.
I think UFC 72 is actually a real exciting card, am I going to order it? No, because I am going to order UFC 73, because I am a biased Tito Ortiz diehard fan, and I would much rahter see him pound Rashad Evans for 40 bucks, but still UFC 72 is a good card.

Gleison Tibau has a different record in ufc65. It says he has something like 20 wins.

Keep in mind this fight nite is nothing like UFC 73 or any other good ppv. basketball might get better ratings tonight but compare it to UFC 71 or 73.

UFC, how sick was that 13 second KO? How did that happen?

Reiner rushed in, Johnson stepped back and clocked him with an uppercut followed by a left hook. Lights out Reiner. He was out for a long time with his eyes wide open. Pretty scary there for a minute.

The “Barn Cat” looked more like the “Cat Nap” yet still managed to choke out Spratt.

That sounds so sick, I really hope they show that on air. 13 Second Knock Out is Crazy, almost worse than Marlon Sims

Fioravanti looked terrible…crowd was giving it to them with the “boring” chant. A shame too because he’s got skills.

The fight card did not look all that interesting except for the Fitch fight. But, it ended up being pretty decent action with some good fights.Congrats Fitch

Damn that Fight night was a lot better than i expected. Fitch pulled out a good fight. Whats cool is nothing was left to specualtion all clear wins tonite. And Spencer the king Whoa what a nite this is gotta be one of the best fights i have seen without a KO in a long long long time. Sam Stout deserves alot of credit for his great performance also. I dont agree with Spencer though lol he clearly won this fight even though he was worse for the wear. They both have iron chins. I guess because i was expecting a little slower paced action and wham these guys straight up brawled. They were deffinitly going for the KO. In the end im glad The king didnt get it to the ground although if he had it could have been a KO or TKO maybe even a SUB win. And Drew McFedries damn where the hell has this guy been. Anthony Johnson with a 1st round KO. Even without the BIG NAMES this UFN was awesome. Tonite was a great nite for the UFC and probably hooked in alot of new fans with this one.

Descent main event….I tthought it was closer than 30-27 across the board. Stout left damaga on his face. I agree with Rogan and Goldberg when they claimed they saw a better Fisher than before. Fitch looked great. Oh Wow! and that KO by McFredries

Jon Fitch is in the top 5-10 now, he’s crazzyyy…Tavares’ triangle choke was friggen Quickkkk…first few KO’s were greatttt….the main event was sickkkkkk they did not stop punching and damnnnnnn Stout has an amazing chin and showed a lota heart, does fisher get a title shot now or after another contending fight??

Jesse I couldn’t agree more. He should have been in there as the guy was falling down, at the worst after the first home-run landed. Please don’t let the other three land for christ sakes. He could’ve really hurt that guy by not getting in there earlier. Damn. No more Alonso.

this was a very very good fight night, the main event is a fight of the year candidate, what an awesome awesome fight, i couldn’t believe stout’s chin was that tough, he took some hard shots, great fight by both guys…thiago tavares is like a little diego sanchez, i’m jumping all over that guys bandwagon, i loved every minute of watching him fight, can’t wait to see him fight again…fitch scared me for a few seconds in that first round, but he persevered and came out in round two like the fighter we’ve all come to love, he’s a beast, he deserves karo and thats gonna be a war…mcfedries and this new guy johnson both hit like trucks and i enjoyed watching them both do what they do, i think mcfedries and terry martin should fight…great fight night, the commercials were a little out of control but thats what i expected, loved the fights, can’t wait for thursday’s semifinal and saturday’s ppv…

Huerta and Fisher both fight out Militech, so I would plan on seeing that one. I think Spencer “poor man’s jens pulver” Fisher needs a few more fights before ANYONE talks about a title shot. Put Fisher in with Leonard Garcie or Ken Flo…
Ken Flo would be a serious test for Fisher.

Is it just me or does Anthony Johnson seem like an unstoppable beast??? Good Lord he looked incredible. Had McFedries not KO’d his guy in such a fashion I think Johnson would have been the talk of the night.
Tavares is bad news for Huerta/Franca/Sherk.
Though I like Fitch a whole lot, I don’t seem him beating Koscheck, Hughes, and the rest of the pack. I think he’s reached his UFC success peak.
Tavares and Johnson will either be future contenders or champions by mid 08’.

What a fight night! They were all good. Althought I picked Stout to win Fisher took it to him. Stout has a chin, you gotta give him that, he took some shots that would have dropped most guys. Fisher was relentless, once Stout started backing up it was all over. Fight Nights are something to look forward to for sure. DAMN- GET EM BOYS!

’.
Yes, it is just you. A nice quick KO against a non contender doesn’t make you a beast. Check his other fights out first before you make a judgement.
Tavares is tough for Franca and Sherk. But what is Huerta’s name doing in there? You are falling for the Dana hype machine.
Fitch could beat anyone except maybe the top two or so WW. He could take out Kos, Hughes on a bad day, and maybe another one or two. I think GSP is too much for him.

I totally agree that Koscheck or Hughes would be a tough test for Fitch, but don’t expect to see the KOS fight anytime soon since they are training partners and have stated that they will not be fighting each other anytime soon. For Fitch, I’d love to see him fight Karo next, then Hughes, and then GSP for the belt (since GSP will be champ again by then!). Also, I think you’re completely crazy for stating that Fitch has hit his “UFC success peak.” The guy has stopped everybody who Joe Silva has put in front of him so far (6-0 UFC), so you can’t go counting him out just yet. Sure, his upcoming fights should get a lot tougher for him, but there is no reason to believe that he can’t keep the winning streak alive…he’s currently on a 13 pro fight winning streak.

I thought Fitch was cooked when he got stuck in the Anaconda. That was a great performance. He escaped his opponents signature move, twice. A great night of fights capped off by a nice toe to toe brawl. Stout seemed like he couldn’t keep enough distance to launch his kicks. Spencer kept closing the gap. I agree with you Frizz, Fisher versus Kenny Florian would be a great matchup. A lot of quality fighters last night except that guy that got knocked out by Mcfedries. He had nothing. Tavares impressed me the most. I’m glad “the Barncat” had a decisive submission on Spratt.

LegalEagle: calm down.
Anyone who gets in the Octagon (Anthony Johnson in this case) and puts on that kind of show deserves immediate cred. Just because he lacks experience doesn’t change that he is an animal. Perhaps GSP or Kos are the only two that could even physically compare. It doesn’t take experience or lots of tough fights to realize that. On paper this was supposed to be a tough fight. Reiner went three rounds with Josh Burkman. Didn’t last 20 seconds with this guy.
Here is some advice for you. Quit thinking in terms of hierarchy/experience and open your eyes. Huerta is a great fighter. Johnson is a great fighter. Gonzaga beat Crocop with dismal odds concerning experience and MMA cred.
As far as Fitch goes, yes he could get lucky. Matt Serra did. And he’ll lose his belt shortly.

I don’t know what you are thinking but anyone can land a lucky knockout shot in this sport. Everyone trains on stand up, so is that improbable to have knock outs? I am personally more impressed by fighter that have to earn it, not just walk out there and trade leather until you get that lucky shot. Everyone in mma gets caught eventually with the KO. And by the way Drew Mcfedries was my high school running back and team mate.
by Zstar on Jun 13, 2007 5:22 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I like both Ground wars and straight up Brawls it showcases both sides of the game. And to say anyone can go out there and swing leather and expect to have a chance is stretching the term Punchers chance just a bit. As ive said before i like to see the fight go some rounds before a KO. As impressive as first round KO’s are they leave ya wanting more. Some just like seeing the ground game more and some like the striking. MMA type Striking that ya dont see in Boxing. Ive watched boxing many many times and it is no where near as exciting as MMA when two fighters go toe 2 toe. But like i said i also like to see a sick BJJ game or Sub clinic.

I love when a guy is getting clearly being defeated by a striker and pulls off some submission out of no where ala Josh Neer.
