UFC Quick Quote: Dana White on Life

"A lot of times, kids go to college and take a major because they do what they think they're supposed to do. I told them I believe 90 percent of America gets up in the morning and drives to a job they hate. That could have happened to me in the hotel industry. I told them to find what they're passionate about and to go for that regardless of what anyone tells them. They can go to school and major in political science and say they want to be a doctor or a lawyer, but unless they're passionate about what they do, they're never really going to be happy or truly successful."
-- UFC President Dana White tells Yahoo!Sports.com what he told his alma mater (1987), Hermon High School in Hermon, Maine, during the commencement address he was asked to give on Saturday.

Its a good point but it doesn’t always bring food to the table.

The money will always come bang. Do what you love and you’ll never work again.

That’s always been my philosophy. Life’s a gift, don’t waste it doing what you think you have to and not what you truly want to.

My question is how many F-bombs did White drop during the speech?

One thing I would have to say, is many people have the ability to drop everything and do something like this, but if you have a family (and a young one at that), then you have to do whatever you get your chance to do. Your first and final goal should be your families health.

Or make sure you have rich friends that can buy a sports organization and let you run it.

You make make excuses or you can make it happen, but you can never do both.

Well put bro, it just doesn’t work out that way for poor folks with families to feed. Dana White loves being high and mighty.=, so I guess it’s easy for him to say.

I hate working, and if I didn’t have to I wouldn’t. My personal fulfillment comes from my girl, my family and my friends. Work is just something to do to pay the bills and hopefully have enough left over to do the things I enjoy.

Dana is talking to people that do not have a wife and kids yet.
I think it is great advice. Performance is the residue of interest.

Rofl….
My theory on life, and what you do in it. Its not about what you do, but its what you do with the chances you get that measures your happyness.

It’s easy to be passionate about your work when you OWN the company and your company is among the 10 percent of small businesses still afloat after one year. For the 99 percent of us who are worker drones who just want decent pay for 40 hours a week a job can get very tedious.

Yeah, great advice, but for most people, they don’t realize the truth in that advice until they have a mortgage and two kids to feed. By then, dropping everything to do what you are “passionate” about = neglecting all the responsibilities that you have created through your own actions, and making those close to you suffer.
