i got to the show when chuck wasnt on it anymore…but Letterman kept talking about him, so it seems like he was cool…can anyone inform, i dont have audio

It was cool. You know how Chuck is…Just laid back and chill. That chick next to him was kind of weird though. She kept asking to slap Chuck and then finally did. I was surprized that they showed Chuck getting knocked out. And was disapointed that he didn’t announce a rematch any time soon.

Chuck was def cool.. They talked about losing to rampage, he was a man about it.. no cheap shots(they even showed him losing). Chuck was very impressive on that show. He said he wants to come back as soon as possible. They were asking a lot of stupid questions and he dealt wit that well too.

There will be no rematch, THAT WAS THE REMATCH. Chuck will have to work his way up again to get a rematch. I see Chuck Retiring before he gets another change. He is too old. Hes not the same as couture. Chuck is 37, Page is 28. I just see him beating him. Rampage is just now hitting his prime. Rampage wasn’t in his prime when he fought wandi. He is now. Chuck may be the gate to judge futue LHW contenders now. I think he has more to worry about with up and comers than rampage. Chuck vs. wandi, Chuck vs. Shogun “oh yeah baby give it to me”

Chuck was real cool about it,really he says the same cool shit in all his interviews except for the time he was on nitequil. But he is still the man Ilike him and page so i think it will be chucks last figt in the ufc to fight page one more time.

the show was very good and friendly for newcomers. it just shows the the UFC and MMA is being accepted more and more.

thats good..im sure it wasnt as funny as the Conan one, because Conan is awesome…I saw that they showed the clip, i just dont know what he said..was it something along the lines as “i got caught and thats part of the sport”?
can an comp,i wouldnt put shogun as an up and comer either…with all due respect to Wandy, i think Shoguns list of wins is more impressive…i think if the fight with Wandy does happen and he beats him, he should get another shot at it, i think the only other person deserving of a shot would be Rashad if he beats Tito (and actually wants the shot)..but youre right, chuck wont be around at 43 like Randy, id say it matters how he does in his next couple fights, but id say if he gets the belt back soon hes done, if not he will probably take some big time fights for big money and say goodbye

Chuck is my favourite fighter and he shows his class by not making any excuses.
I read on here alot of people saying Rampage was in Chucks head and thats why he lost,I disagree,if he was in his head Chuck would never of threw a body shot the way he did,he would of been extremly carefull.
I think he underestimated Rampage and to me it seems obvious.
He will destroy Wandy 1st round garunteed.

Chuck still does great interveiws when he isnt high.
Im not gonna jump on the chuck is god or chuck sucks bandwagon, bottom line is this guy can indeed beat anyone in the world at anytime. Rampage had his number, outworked him, caught him, whatever you wanna say. But win or lose, this guy is gonna put up a hell of a fight with Wandi.

He sounded like an idiot. Ummm…Uhhh…Omm… Bury this guy in his bottle on Nyquil and get Rampage or Couture out there. Either entertain or educate. Putting this idiot out in front of the casual/unexposed fan only makes things worse.
I hope Wandy retires him for good.

Damn dude did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or what? Chuck handled that like a man, whether you like him or not people want to know about his guy and the events surrounding his loss. I thought i was a good appearance. kinda funny actually

I’ve never been a big fan of Chuck, but I’ve definitely gained respect for him after seeing how he handles this loss. He has definitely been a man about it and hasn’t said anything to diminish Rampage’s win. I like Chuck far more now than I did when he was champ.
I just wish he’d lose the mohawk. For some reason, I can’t really be a fan of a guy with a mohawk. Otherwise, I love to watch him fight, and hope he’s around for years to come. I just don’t want to see him fight Tito again…..

He handled himself well for him, but he has got to be the worst spokesmen for the sport. When asked about the rules in the UFC/MMA he barley touched on any, and when asked about the background and how it has changed since then he talked little and gave no real perspective of the sport.
I think it’s funny that they didn’t drop him for Rampage or Couture. Instead they kept him and showed him getting dropped and finished. Liddell has the charisma of a fly, and less when he is on Nyquil.

Why would they put Rampage on?? He had 0 title defenses so far. I think Rampage is funny, but not a good “spokesperson” for MMA. Anyone can can win the title but a true champ defends the title and more than once.I agree they should get Couture..hes a GREAT spokesperson and speaks with knowledge.

If Chuck loses his next fight….then you can be sure his media attention will be dropped significantly, and if Rampage wins his, he will be all over the place.
by Chadx23 on Jun 8, 2007 11:46 AM EDT reply actions
The charisma of a fly? What exactly are you looking for Kos? I guess you can never appeal to everybody, but the guy appeals to me and I think quite a few others. He never made any excuses the first time he lost to Rampage and he never made any excuses the second time. He never made any excuses about losing to Horn or Randy either.
How many other people with his talent and his record in MMA keep so humble? Chuck and I are just a couple of months apart in age and I have to tell you that I couldn’t imagine being able to train the way he does much less step into a cage with a guy like Rampage looking to kill me.
The guy seems alright to me and a hell of a lot more tolerable than most of the others.

Amen brother. Chuck’s just a regular guy, thats why I like him. I’m tired of hearing the Nyquil/Partys like a rockstar card about Chuck. You wanna complain about stuff like that, then take it to the “Paris HIltion/Lindsey Lohan mania” site and bash all you want, don’t do it here to someone who doesn’t really deserve it. You don’t have to like the guy, but don’t bash him unless you have a really valid point, and no one does yet.
by Chadx23 on Jun 8, 2007 12:20 PM EDT reply actions
He did fine. The guy is a professional fighter, not a college professor. I think the audience and Dave understand that.
And while I like Rampage, having him get on and use all kinds of slang (rocking the bo bo or whatever) wouldn’t necessarily be a good thing either.
Of course Couture is well-spoken, but, again, Chuck did fine. It’s a shame when people aren’t intelligent enough to hold two opposing thoughts in their head at the same time: Uh, I don’t like Chuck as a fighter, so therefore I MUST bash him every chance I get.
No one wants to hear your fighter-bashing, so keep it to yourself please.

On this week’s edition of TAPOUT on the Versus network Antonio Banuelos who is a teammate of Chuck’s that also works as Chuck’s assistant lives with Chuck was featured. Throughout the episode you got to see Chuck hanging out, training, and cornering his teammate. He came off as a genuinely good guy.

hes a 37 year old fighter…hmm maybe thats why he stutters a little, also, hes on national TV in the US. Maybe he was a tad bit nervous. He did ok man, I’d like to see you go on Letterman and let them play clips of you getting KO’d and see if you don’t stutter one time.

Yeah, Chuck did okay. He’s an educated guy, but when you spend your life getting punched, public speaking probably won’t be your strong point. However, I don’t think he’s the best guy for the “face of MMA.” Like McFrye said, the mohawk just gives a negative image, imo.
I really like Rampage, but I don’t know about him either as a spokesperson. He’s funny as hell, but sometimes I can’t figure out what he’s talking about. It’s hilarious to hear some guy in a suit trying to turn on the ebonics to interview him. But he’s a great fighter and seems like a good guy, so I don’t expect him to talk like a professor.
If MMA needs a spokesperson, Couture is the man. He’s very articulate and knowledgeable, clean-cut, no prison tats, plus he can kick ass. Then when you put his “Captain America” nickname with that, he’s perfect to present the sport to the general public.

to predict the outcome of any MMA fight, let alone guarantee it is something that is damn near impossible to do. especially considering chucks lackluster performance againts rampage (although rampage has chucks number)

No he doesn’t. He stutteres a little, no big deal. The point is he wasn’t acting cocky or trash talking or anything stupid like all these other “sports stars” you see like Terrel Owens and what not. So how is he making the UFC loof bad? Hes’ not. Thats just an excuse you are making. TO and Randy Moss don’t make football look bad when they say stupid crap on tv, they just make themselves look like A-holes. Chuck does not make the UFC look bad period. Thats jsut an excuse for those who do not like him to bash a little more on him. The only time he made the UFC look bad was when he fell asleep in my city on tv! but other than that he’s ok.

Well said I myself am far more impressed with good character than the ability to speak well. I agree that Randy Couture is a great spokes man for the UFC but the way chucks speaks hardly takes anything away from the UFC. People that aren’t completely shallow can look past someone with obvious stage fright or nerves. I don’t think Chuck ever wanted to be a “spokesman” for the UFC, but the guy has balls and Character and stepped up to the plate even though he’s nervous and stutters he still does it and doesn’t shy away, impressive in my eyes.

Being Dana walked up to Chuck and actually told him he loved him and not to worry about it while still in the cage, maybe he don’t like you bashing him like this all the time. What have you done with your life in comparison? Was he tuned in to watch you? He has more class in defeat then you have in life. damn thats messed up, i’ve heard a lot worse interviews than that one, i watched that interview and thought to myself, how can anyone not like chuck liddell, he’s a stand up guy, never makes excuses and never really talks shit, maybe he was a little nervous but i didn’t see any reason to talk shit and wish an end to his brilliant career…

I am sick of hearing epople bad mouth Chuck after this one slip up,what he has achieved allready makes him a MMA legend and he is far from finished.
I may joke sometimes about fighters but Im reading comments here with real venom and bad intention to Chuck and it makes me sick.
Every one who steps foot in that cage deserves respect for their courage, and for someone like Chuck who has achieved what he has he deserves more then respect. He is an inspiration.
i hear that brother!

Rampage on the other hand………I dunno, I think he would make chuck look good, he’s way too off the wall, I think a lot of people would take him the wrong way.

It was cool. You know how Chuck is…Just laid back and chill. That chick next to him was kind of weird though. She kept asking to slap Chuck and then finally did. I was surprized that they showed Chuck getting knocked out. And was disapointed that he didn’t announce a rematch any time soon.[/quote
who is the chick next to him anyone know
the lady from the show closer

Why not? “Slang” gets recycled into the american mainstream regularly. Check websters dictionary sometime.
i doubt you’ll find rocking the bo bo in the dictionary…

say anything enough on nationaly tv & it will get picked up by the mainstream. This is not my opinion but actually a fact that can be researched as far back as the colonization of America….even further. Anyway, not to digress but I thought I’d take the time to point you in the right direction on this.

But this is not a thread entitled “what would Rampage do?” It’s a thread about CL’s appearance on Letterman.
oh no machine, this is a post about people living in glass houses and slang in dictionaries and the colonization of america or whatever, c’mon dude, you’re setting fires all over this thread…

If you’re ever lucky enough to stumble across this info on your own, you’ll remember that I said it. That’s enough for me.

Television goes back to the colonization huh? I did the research and you are right. I seen Christopher Colombus saying Rockin the bo bo on mtv.

FYI, I didnt flesh this out thoroughly. I just wanted to throw the general info out there in hopes of sparking an alternate train of thought.

I thought that was pretty funny too, Geico has been a compnay for 300 years too, George washington was covered by them.

Lol, Uh oh! Machine makes a critical mistake by not using proper sentence structure & not fully articulating his thought!
This is not my opinion but actually a fact that can be researched as far back as the colonization of America….even further.
(This should have been a seperate paragraph & not intended to be taken as a continuation of the previous sentence. My point was intended to be that the english language borrows HEAVILY from many languages around the world & many words that we use in day-to-day conversation were in fact slang terms derived from foreign languages).
I’ll digress no further.
Back to the subject at hand & my thoughts on the matter: Chuck Liddell is & has been an overrated fighter. Let’s all try to remember that “overrated” does not imply that CL is not an accomplished fighter.

It’s cool but did you honestly think we didn’t know that? I mean the language is derived from the Europian languages so of course we ‘borrow heavily’. You didn’t have to go all smart on me though man. Your killing my high with all this brain stuff.

Webster’s is on Letterman tonight with Rampage to introduce the new phrase ‘Rockin the Bo Bo’ into the dictionary and consequently the english language. Thank you for such a useful and necessary contribution to our society. Later this week the President will make a world peace announcement due to ‘Rockin the Bo Bo’ worldwide.(just funnin I swear Machine.)

The guy seems alright to me and a hell of a lot more tolerable than most of the others.
nicely said i agree 100%, how many fighters of any kind would go on letterman and let them play a vid of him getting knocked out?? not many….

Regarding Machine and or MTUFC….
These guys honestly make me not want to come to this site anymore. I get so sick of their bashing of UFC fighters and their glorification of Pride fighters that were formerly raped in the UFC…obviosuly as the name states “MoreThanUFC”, this guy does not really care for the UFC. Funny, I thought this site was called “UFCMANIA.com”???
IF you don’t like Chuck, a UFC fighter, who will be discussed on ufcmania.com, then leave this site.

To be fair here Chad, Machine just doesn’t like Chuck like I don’t like Tito. Nothing wrong with stating your opinion or not liking a UFC fighter. Machine is really not a Pride biased fighter. Now MTU is for sure and only bashes ufc fighters or owners or management or us or anything or anyone else that don’t go along with him.

You guys have unreal expectations when you want guys who kick ass for a living to be great public speakers. Chuck handles himself with class. That being said Wow, how the mighty have fallen! First he gets Bitch-slapped by Rampage, then he goes on Letterman and gets Bitch-slapped again.

It’s gonna take sometime for chuck to fight QRJ again then there’s quiet alot of contenders lined up..
