Update: Huerta scratched from UFC 74; added to UltimateFighter 5 Finale

Roger Huerta will not appear at UFC 74 as previously reported but instead will fight a yet-to-be-named opponent on June 23 at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 5 Finale on Spike television, according to his official Web site.
The switch gives "El Matador" -- one of the UFC's rising stars in the 155-pound division -- just two weeks to prepare.
Here's a snip from his Webmaster, Andres Perez:
"The past few weeks we have told you that there was a lot going on in Camp Huerta. First, we announced that an apparel line will be launched this summer. AND THEN? The announcement that Roger will be fighting in UFC 74. AND THEN? Oh yeah, Roger was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. AND THEN? Well it seems that the top brass at UFC is giving Roger a whopping two weeks to prepare for his next fight WHAT? Yes, corner. Roger Huerta is on the card for the Ultimate Fighter Finale on June 23, 2007...Is that all the news? We are only scratching the surface! Stay tuned for more breaking news. Keep hope alive!"
With only two weeks until the finale an announcement on who he'll be fighting should be revealed very soon. And, it looks like it will more than likely be one of the contestants on this season of TUF.
One thing we can be sure of: It won't be Marlon Sims or Noah Thomas.

Huerta vs Wiman
Exactly what I was gonna say. They are def a good matchup. I feel bad Wiman lost and whether he beats Huerta or not, if the fight is entertaining and goes the distance, he has locked himself into a contract with the UFC.

Wiman and Huerta are blue chips for the UFC so I doubt Dana would put them against each other this early. Would be a great fight though, if it happened.

He will most likely fight one of the TUF.
And kill them.
Huerta is an exciting fighter, Im pretty sure Dana is trying to get his hype up seeing that he could beat Sherk.
Or….
Sherk got injured, pulled out….
Buehler? Anyone?

Huerta v Melendez. Or maybe Weems for announcing on his MS page what the semis were gonna be.

Huerta vs Wiman sounds like a good matchup for Huerta, last night Wiman’s stand up was suspect, and he was easily overwhelmed on the ground. If they put him against Cole though, it would make for a pretty interesting fight, I think Cole is the best person to be eliminated so far. I don’t think they would put him against Hill or Manny (after he gets eliminated in his next fight), since it seems they are hyping up Huertas image, they wouldnt want to give him a fight he could potentially lose, especially to a no-name fighter.

well, this is pretty cool…they are giving some of these guys tough fights off the bat..Huerta and Leonard Garcia are both fighting tuf guys it looks…id say it would be the two guys who lose in the semis ( id like it to be the two assmos that got in the backyard fight, but they are done it looks)

If they are throwning Huerta and Garcia in, Im willing to bet that Lauzon and Diaz did NOT make the finals… Doesnt make sense to throw top talent in against scrubs.

Wow, I think that Huerta will kick some series TUF ass at the finale. I think that Joe is the only one that can hang with Huerta, and I’d bet that Joe will make the finals. I think Huerta would destroy Wiman. Someone said that Huerta and Wiman are both blue chip or somethin like that. Huerta is, but how can you say that Wiman is. He has had 3 fights in the UFC. He lost to Melvin Guillard. He lost to short Manny. And he beat the worst contestant of this season, Wayne Weems. Being in three UFC fights and only having 1 win, and it was against Weems does not make you a blue chip fighter.
Huerta will knock out whoever he faces. The same goes for Leonard Garcia. These TUF scrubs will not be able to hang with these two. Only Joe can.

you scared the shit out of me, Mania. When I read the RSS feed i thought he would be scratched due to an injury, good thing it’s only being moved. yay!

According to his record, Wiman only has one fight in the UFC – a flying knee KO courtesy of Spencer Fisher. Wiman also dropped a decision to Huerta in September 2005 in a smaller show. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wiman vs. Garcia because, as “ViolentMike” said, Wiman isn’t deserving of “protected” status as a promising/ developing fighter. By contrast, Hill will probably draw someone like Andy Wang or Wayne Weems in order to foster his development. This can make for lousy, predictible fights, but I don’t necessarily think that this is a bad strategy. Why throw a promising fighter to the wolves? Gradually let him work his way up the ladder.

the finale keeps getting better, i was wondering if they were gonna start adding fighters to the card or just have all the contestants that lost on the show fight each other, its much better this way, i hope its diaz or wiman vs. huerta…

Wayne Weems vs. Roger Huerta = BIG RATINGS.
Kidding.
I think it might be Gray Maynard if he loses to Joe next week.
Poor TUF kids… Roger going to kill you.
