That’s Tito’s ego betting on Chuck..Chuck beat him 2×..i guess he taught Chuck would steam roll over Rampage..Bad judgement call. Rampage should beat up Tito and bet on himself like Syl did in " Over the Top ".

That screen shot is awesome … I must commend our designer — something I don’t do enough of.

Sounds like Tito wanted Chuck to win so he could fight him again. But, I think he now has a better chance of fighting Chuck again now the he lost. Doesn’t make much sense to me. Maybe he just doesn’t want to fight Rampage for the title since they are friends — still a weird bet.

its a dick move, i heard about this yesterdaay i think, consensus is when they train Tito got the better of Rampage on the ground, maybe he thought Ramp would win, and is trying to pull a Tito/Chuck 03

Does Rampage train with Big Head Tito. I dont get it why would u bet on someone that trains with u and spar with u, etc. Wierd Sh*t, Tito is wierd man, thats what u get for betting against the underdog.

Tito wanted Chuck to win so Tito wouldn’t look so bad. It would have made Tito look like he was beat by the best ever. If Chuck had won, it would have been a lot harder for Tito to get a fight against Chuck having been beat twice. Now it’s a fight to the finish to see who gets to challenge for the title in the future. If Chuck and Tito are the #1 and #2 challengers, Tito will possibly get his shot at Chuck. Otherwise I think the chances of those two fighting again may be over.

i have a hard time believing tito wants chuck again..theres nothing he can do to chuck…i think he wants rampage…or its just his ego and he did want to get beat by the “best” like vndk8 said…who knows, the dudes weird

I would be intersted to hear what Dana and the Nevada State Athletic Comission have to say about Tito betting on his own profession. Hmm, maybe that $3000 was just extra cash he had from betting on Chuck when they fought each other.

it is so plain and simple why he would have bet against rampage and then allow it to go public… what does Tito do before every single fight?? Create or perpetuate bad blood. This puts him in a position to start the fans wanting a tito vs. rampage. Just to settle the score because they used to be friends and training partners… now there is a fued…. plain and simple, it sells tickets. And if chuck did win, he would have just made some money.

A True Tito move not only to bet against a pal but to come out with it. Thius guy is tailor made for caoching fighters and being on the big screen across the country … NOT ACTUALLY FIGHTING

Face the facts Tito you can make money elsewhere with your charisma.

Tito is a fucking MORONG… yes, MORONG!
I know why he made this public… because he was pissed at Rampage for saying he would fight Tito. Tito has this stupid idea that he is friends with everyone, and he wont fight friends, which is just as assinine as half the mistakes he makes in his wasting away life. STFU, get into training, dump your ‘girlfriend’ and start living your life with blinders on… Or else he might be the next one tossed for 9 monthes for Coke…

by Luppers on Jun 1, 2007 1:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Just another example of Tito making a bone head move. I don’t mind that he bet on Liddell, just that he publicly confirmed he did.

Tito makes it really hard for the fans not to be hard on him. I have always been a Tito fan since UFC 13, but lately the guy seems to have lost touch. Tito claims to be this down to earth guy, but I don’t think that guy has lived on this planet for a while!

There is no doubt that his match with Rashad Evans is the most important of his career. This is a make or break fight for Ortiz.

by Frizz on Jun 1, 2007 1:33 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

No, actually I think it’s disrecpectful of Tito to bet against Jackson. If you’re a real friend and think Chuck is the better fighter, don’t bet.
My guess, Tito thinks he’s better Rampage so think Chuck would tear Rampage apart. No friends would do such thing to one another.

Tito, you’re a punk and always will be a punk.

I’d be interested to see what they have to say as well…I’m not sure if they consider these guys the same as other major sports since they are independent contractors…I think Rampage should take this as kind of a slap in the face since they are really good friends and training partners…If there is a Tito vs. Chuck 3 then this would surely start something up in the way of media attention…like they’d need it…

by MCANENA THE 2ND on Jun 1, 2007 2:57 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I’m pretty sure they are allowed to bet on fights, just not their own, especially if they bet on themselves to lose. And TitoJr is right when he said that Tito was probably doing this to piss of Rampage so he would want to fight him. Tito knows he can’t earn a title fight by beating two or three top contenders, so he tries to weasel his way into one by starting a feud with the new champ, the one that hasn’t already beaten his ass on multiple occasions.

by PW on Jun 1, 2007 3:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I hate Tito and his disrespecting grave digging after-fight celebration. He simply wasted $3,000 on a bad bet and was trying to squeeze some promo for a future fight out of the worthless piece of paper. What a tool.

Best description of Tito to date. What some of you think I think about Liddell, I do think about Tito.

by MoreThanUFC on Jun 1, 2007 4:24 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Why should we be surprised at Tito’s bet? After Chuck beat him the second time, Tito repeatedly said in post-fight interviews that he believed Chuck is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today. While we can disagree with Tito’s opinions, at least he put his money where his mouth is, and that should be no surprise.

I think Tito is just securing himself future fights. If Tito and Rampage ever fight they will use this clip to promote it. I still think they are good friends, but I just think that Tito bought into the hype.

I remember reading all over the internet that Liddell was going to win everyone said it. Even me a Tito Ortiz nuthugger was buying into it. But don’t get me wrong I was praying to god that Rampage would win. Tito should be happy he is wrong, now he won’t have to fight 6 times to get another shot at the title. He might only have to fight like 3 times. This doesn’t bother me at all I still like both fighters. But come fight time I still will want to see Tito win!

This bet does not mean the tito wanted chuck to win, especially if he is friends with Quinton. Here is my reasoning… (using myself as an example)… When there is a big fight with one of my favorite fighters and I think it could go either way, I tend to bet against my boy, so either way I win. It sucks when your Favorite fighter loses, and you lose your money is all I’m saying, betting against the guy you want to win kinda pads the outcome either way. Ofcourse my friends and I usually only bet likie $5, but hey Tito’s rich right? By the way i’m not defending this guy, just trying to understand.

You forgot

Wanderlei Silva
Evan Tanner (when he was good)
Vladimir Matyushenko (when he was good)
Vitor Belfort (also when he was good)

It seems like when Tito beats guys up they are never the same from it. (except silva not so much as of recently)

It amazes me every time how everyone bashes Tito when all he did was beat the only guys that were good in his division at the time he was champ. Tito has only lost to the best, it’s as simple as that.

If this is everyone’s argument then I will go ahead and say:
Chuck Liddell sucks because he lost to Rampage. (Rampage one of the best LHW’s in the world)
GSP sucks. (GSP one of the best Welterweights in the world)
Randy Couture sucks for losing to Chuck 2 times a supposed sucky fighter. (Randy one of the best HW’s in the world)
Cro Cop sucks (One of the best HW’s in the world)
And I could go on and on and on….

Your not a good fighter until you lose to the best!
It’s not Tito’s fault that Dana sent him guys he can beat…Tito just does his job like every other great fighter in MMA, and that’s fight who is in front of him!

Your talking to a self proclaimed Tito nuthugger…and I already know there is nothing I can say to convince you keyboard warriors to change your minds about Tito. You love him or you hate him! However when Tito fights most of you will pay to watch it because all of his fights are exciting, unlike Liddell who prances around the cage and throws a punch here and there until he KO’s someone. Let’s put it this way if I want to watch that kind of fight I just go watch boxing.

Back to the point you either watch Tito because you want him to lose or win I am getting really sick of reading all the Tito bashing over the internet. Hey, I have an idea let’s start bashing the fighter who really do suck…yea that makes way more sense then bashing fighters who don’t suck and are 5 time defending UFC LHW champions!

Well he probably thought Chuck would win, but I think that is pretty shitty to bet against your teammate, specifically when he won the first time they fought. I don’t care for Tito, and it does not really surprise me.

what have you done for me lately tito?
who was the last person he beat that was legit
vitor was a great win in 2005, but who knows if that was vitor at his peak, or if randy had already sucked the life out of him. tito is an awesome gatekeeper. i dont think that title is a disrespectful one at all, but until he beats rampage, randy, chuck, sobral, or evans (know im kinda pushing it with that one), i just dont think hes an A level fighter anymore. maybe a B A- type guy. ie gatekeeper

Tito is what I would call a gate keeper. He keeps the B level fighters at B level, and sends the A level fighters to new Heights. (more opinion then fact)

In gambling you bet with your wallet, not your heart. Once you bet with your heart, you wont be betting much longer. Tito was looking for a little action and thought he could make a grand off of it. What is wrong with that? You guys are acting like he bet against himself. In sports wagering there are no friends. It is business. I am not talking about anything else but the bet itself. Would a I bet against my friend or favorite college football team? No, I would not. But if you think you have a winner, and it is against your favorite team or friend, well, business is business. If I see a play that is against my favorite team, I make it a no play and start capping the net game, but not everyone is like that.

It’s actually one of the few things he’s done I respect him for. (Admiting he did bet on Chuck not the actual bet) I don’t believe it was a lack of repect for Page from Tito just a increadibly high respect for Chuck. Regardless of what Tito says he respects Chuck so much it actually deabilitates him when they fight. Tito has been caught up in an image for so long people forget he’s just a mistake making person too. Still hope Rashad kicks his head off though.

Thank You Spida. Finally someone who gets it. You guys don’t have to read what I write down and I don’t have to read what you guys write down. I am just putting my opinion out there because it seems like Tito has lost almost all of his fans that will stand up for him. All I am doing is trying to make this blog more of a fair and balanced conversation. I just don’t like to keep reading about by favorite fighter being bashed for no apparent reason, that’s all.

By the way I started watching MMA not just the UFC in 2004, so your whole tuf3 noob argument doesn’t really work MoreThanUFC. But, I can understand why you might have said that.

I would be intersted to hear what Dana and the Nevada State Athletic Comission have to say about Tito betting on his own profession. Hmm, maybe that $3000 was just extra cash he had from betting on Chuck when they fought each other.

I TOTALLY AGREE.
