and were supposed to be impressed by this workout?? No rip on UFCmania for posting it, but can he go around the ring any slower, and hit his head any more times on the rope????…He’s gonna get mopped up….I love it!

That’s called level training. The thin ropes are set to the height of your opponents chin. You’re supposed to do it slow to build muscle memory.

At least the recent vidoes from Ramp’s camp have been of him TRAINING! Not fuucked up on Nyquil, bitching at Tito, on morning news shows nuthugging his boss, drunk falling out of elevetors….oh wait that was Fickett, my bad.

Gza and Mos Def is a good sound to train to and yet…funny people say Page has faced tougher comp lately…where? Who has he beat tougher or as tough as Liddell? Who has he beat tougher then Couture? Level training for a guy 1 in taller then you? Couture needed level training against Silvia but this is silly. Better get your finger poke excuses ready.

Rofl!
I think level training is always a good thing. The difference between being on the button and just off the button is only an inch, of course. And, btw, Couture’s level training paid off in the first 30 secs.

Finger in the eye..holding on to the cage..Big John stopping it early..it being fixed for the rubber match..Dana didn’t give Ramp enough time to prepare..changed rules and wasn’t ready to adapt..Chuck was on nyquil so he didn’t feel Ramp’s strikes..does all that about cover Liddell’s chances of winning? Just want to help everyone get their excuses ready, there’s a whole menu of them to choose from.

This video has actually been floating around the internet for atleast well over a month now. This “training” session was specifically set up for the Press to capture some footage. When Mania posts part 2 tomorrow (if it’s the actual interview portion)you will hear Rampage explain that this was more of a pre-training to get in shape before he began his true training at Big Bear.

This is like a bad spider man episode with two Tommy’s
Level training is done not matter how tall your opponent is. The main point of it was to keep him tucking his chin. Bizzarro Tommy must have his money on Chuck for this fight. I am not so sold on either fighter but I still give the edge to Rampage.
Also addressing the comment about the tougher competition. Lets use basketball as an example. During the Lakers title runs with Shaq the teams they had trouble beating in the play offs were the ones who were able to compete with them inside the paint (Spurs) not the ones who just wanted to run all night (Mavs). Full Court runners (like the Mavs) struggled to take the Lakers out of their Half Court game where the Spurs were able to beat the Lakers at their own half court game.
That is Chuck vs all of his last 5 fights. He is fighting guys who play a different style of ball than he does. He is great at what he does (striking) and has become great at defending against other guys take downs and making them fight his fight. Now for Chuck which would have been harder to fight. Shogun? or Tito? Wand? or Babalu? Randy is the hardest guy that Chuck has fought in his last 5 fights and that is only because Randy was willing to engage Chuck in the first fight and beat Chuck at his own game. Whether Rampage won or lost his competition was harder because he was fighting guys who were as good or better at the stand up game than he is and we all know that the stand up is what Rampage loves to do. So opponent for Opponent YES Rampage has had better competition because the last true strikers that Chuck has fought were Rampage and Vitor and he lost to one and got a decision win over the other. No shame in Rampage losing to two of the best strikers in the world at 205 because at least he is being matched up against other great strikers who can test him as opposed to fighting Grapplers who have no real chance in standing with him.
For the record before anyone says that UFC doesn’t have any other guys who can strike that would be worth pairing up with Chuck let it be known that it was Dana White who objected to Rich Franklin moving up in weight because he wanted to have three champs (Matt Hughes, Rich Franklin, Chuck Liddell) who he could market the UFC brand thru at the time. Not only can Rich compete in the light heavyweight but actually considered it at one point.

I been saying for a long time the person to beat Chuck is gonna have to do it on his feet. Page won’t be the one though, he just don’t impress me anymore. Looks cool with his JYD chain, but that don’t win fights. Think you can change your name a little to show a difference besides black and blue? Cuz if this is spider man your venom.

Great comment, man. The only thing I want to add is the the fact that many (including myself) don’t even consider Rampage a striker really. He’s great on the feet of course, but his bread and butter is a hard slam to the canvas followed by brutal ground and pound.

cmon, no worries there. Rampage started his MMA career in the cage if I’m not mistaken. You’ll also be pleased to know that prior to the Eastman fight, he last fought in the cage in October of last year. He’s got 0 Cage Rust so if he loses (which I pray the doesn’t), it won’t be due to unfamiliarity with the Cage.

Dude to the people saying his training isnt intense. Non of these fighters have one training method, they all have like a million different ones. This particular clearly isnt one geared toward increasing muscle or being intense or simulating Chuck, but one that is supposed to shape technique, make good striking habits, like someone said, supposed to be a drill to keep the chin down or someting, its just to make all the good habits second nature to improve technique. Purely a techniqual drill.

Having said that I am pulling for Chuck. I think he has better hands then Rampage. I don’t think Rampage will be able to pull the same slamming stunts he did the first time.
And I disagree with the idea that it must be a striker that beats Chuck. When Chuck gets up after being taken down he exposes himself to many submissions. Even Tito almost had his back in fight 2. I think had Randy been more of a BJJ expert Vs. Greco Roman assuming he still got Chuck down, the outcome would have been different.

Is anyone else willing to join me in petitioning UFC to start a fighters union similar to the players union in the NFL. I have a friend who works for THQ and he told me that THQ had approached UFC and in the past Pride about making another more in depth graphically accurate video game on the next gen systems and that Pride was interested but kept dragging its feet when it came to securing a roster and that UFC declined because of the fact that alot of fighters now want to own the rights to their image and likeness. In the past UFC/Pride games the fighters were making no money off the game. He said that now it would be more like EA Sports Fight Night were they have to secure permission from individual fighters to put them in the game some of which would want significant money to grant that right (ala Mike Tyson’s demand for his likeness to be put in Fight Night hence the reason why he wasn’t put in it).
UFC for a long time owned the rights to do with the names and likeness of any of the fights as they saw fit (Similar to how Vince McMahon owns the rights to use the likeness of wrestlers who appear on WWE Programing). Which is why even when Frank Shamrock had long since left UFC they still had him in the game (Tito recently complained about this sayign that Dana is a bitch for wanting to own the rights to everything leaving the fighters with nothing). If they had a Fighters Union similar to the Players Union in NFL or NBA it would allow for THQ to deal wit the union and collectively bargin an agreement that would allow THQ to have the access to the COMPLETE roster.
Its Long overdue for a new MMA game…

You need to do a ton of research, the internet is a great tool for that.
Off the top of my head, he’s fought Sakuraba, Minowa, Vovchanchyn, Randleman, Arona, Wanderlai Silva, the Rua brothers (not at the same time), Matt Lindland, if you know who any of those guys are.
He also destroyed your boy Chuck. Badly. It was a few years ago.

I think the gaps are going to get pretty small. There is 5 shows from now through July and 12 more after that this year. That’s 1 UFC every 2 weeks. 5 weeks is just to long for me to get my fix.

Allot of people are counting on Chuck this fight. I personally hope rampage takes this fight again. Liddell is good, but I believe that rampage has the best chance right now, and I am getting tired of Liddell beating everyone. I do think this fight is a very close one. I feel like there is no real guarantee on the winner. Should pan out to be a great fight. Also I do not think of this as an underdog fight like so many other people.

Everyone’s only seen Chuck fight since he fights for UFC. Rampage fights for Pride, and there shouldn’t be much argument that the best fighter in the world fights for Pride… EMELIANENKO. Rampage dominates in Pride. I’m pretty sure they’re both all american wrestlers, and even Chuck said Rampage is an overall better wrestler. They both gas after a couple rounds, but it seems like Chuck gases faster. I’m gonna have to agree with Rampage that he has a good chance of knocking out Chuck in the 3rd round, unless Chuck gets lucky and lands some lucky hits like on Couture.
