Warning: Mania on hiatus sometime soon ... anytime

I just want quickly to notify all our readers that I will be taking a break in the next few days or weeks.
Hell, it can be seconds for all I know.
Mrs. Mania is in the late stages of pregnancy and is set to deliver at anytime -- we're at DEFCON 1 over here.
As a result, I will be taking a much-needed break for a few days to spend much-needed time with my family.
Updating and maintaining this site has become even more of a challenge these last few months. It's hard to find the time to do this right between all the building, shopping and seemingly endless preparation that goes into parenthood.
Somehow, it still manages to get done.
At any rate, in my absense I'm temporarily handing over the keys to Daddy's Porsche to our resident and reckless stepchild, UFCmania contributor Jesse Holland.
By now, most of you know Jesse and are familiar with his frequent posts.
And even though I can never resist taking a swipe at him, the fact that I'm entrusting my cyber baby with him while I tend to dirty diapers and thankless shrieks hopefully speaks volumes for what I feel he can offer our readers.
Hopefully, it's a seamless transition and no one even knows that I am away. However, I really don't think he knows what he's getting himself into ... kind of like myself.
Therefore, play nice and try not to rough him up too much.
I've challenged him to stay on top of the latest UFC news around-the-clock like I attempt to do each day. It might work out or he can fall flat on his face.
Either way, it should be fun to watch.
I'll more than likely check in, but expect very little input from me while I'm away.
When I return -- recharged and overtired -- we have some pretty sick ideas to get this site rockin.'
For chrissakes, there's no other option -- I've got another mouth to feed.

Lol, enjoy fatherhood. Your first I presume? You’ll never be the same. Dirty diapers is the easy part. It’s the raising ’em that is hard. Good luck and God Bless, Tom. MTU

Congrats, hope your child and wife will be safe. I’m a fan of what you do here. I am however a little dissapointed that you are leaving the keys to the castle to that Jessy guy. I don’t enjoy his posts and little articles, I try not to read his stuff. I don’t agree with much he says, and he is constantly negative and insulting. He is judgemental, and it’s not fun to read, especially when he is putting down stuff I like (just look to the last thing he just wrote, I didn’t enjoy him saying that Never Submit is ill-conceived, that wasn’t necessary, it just makes him sound like a big mouth when he puts down stuff he has no business putting down). So Jessy, buddy, keep your crappy opinions out of the news you’re supposed to be reporting (save that for the posts if you have to) and you should do fine. Just the facts please…

Congratulations on the new addition. I only have one child as of right now, but we plan to improve upon that over the next few years, as long as we can afford it. I hope that we have girl, because my wife said we will not stop until we have one. As for Jesse, we love his articles, and maybe I can get him to post mine :) You never did message me back on that to at least give me some criticism.
Have a good vacation and enjoy the family

Congratulations!
Here’s a tip I picked up from the waiting room at the doctor’s office. I haven’t had the opportunity to try it but here you go anyway:
If mom wears a perfume, have her use it asap continually after birth to get baby accustomed to it. Then spray the crib when baby gets home. He/She will smell her, and sleep a little more soundly letting mom and dad get at least a few extra minutes of much needed rest.
Hope that helps, congrats again!

Don Dunne, is that you?
I like how you slam me for being negative and insulting and then spend the rest of your post being negative and insulting. I guess the whole Goose/Gander thing is your approach to dissent.
And it’s Jesse, not Jessy. And yes, I am a big mouth.
by Jesse Holland on May 16, 2007 2:29 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Have no idea who Don Dunne is, wrong on that one. I should have known you would have some kind of response. I don’t want to get into a back and forth with you, I really do hope you do a good job. And part of doing a good job in reporting news is being objective and factual. Not everyone shares your opinions or enjoys your insulting things, so in a news article, in breaking a story, leave it out. Post it after seperately if you feel the need so badly, that way readers can chose not to read that part. I know I won’t (of course running down Tim Sylvia is the exeption to the rule…) Good luck!
p.s. didn’t mean to spell your name incorectly, Jesse.

Man, so far I find most of his articles to be well done. The one thing I have noticed with any Journalism today, is that is not always objective, and most is done in a more persuasive matter. This is a matter of opinions, but I really enjoy his articles, and so what if he mouthes off in comments, there are others here who are much worse.
Later

If dad listens to old MMA fights on DailyMotion, install Randy Couture bobblehead doll in crib with the audio, “I am Captain America.” Kids will grow up to start charities, beat up criminals, save the nation from ruin, etc.

Congratulations on the new baby, UFCMania. Just promise us one thing: you WILL come back, right??? I’ve seen too many people have a big change in their home and family life, only to neglect the other projects they had going on before it. Hopefully, you won’t follow the trend that I’ve seen.

Does this mean no cold medicine to make them cooperative on long airplane flights?
Sorry, this is why there’s no babies coming from here. If they survive infancy with me, how could I release something I raised on the world? I’ll start cleaning out the gene pool and opt out of that.
But I think you should totally try the Couture bobblehead. My 4 year old cousin runs around with eskrima sticks shouting kiti irsia! Can you tell that his father is a pekiti tirsia guy?

Congrat’s to you and your family! I think Jesse will do a great job. Love your article’s (Jesse and mania), and if you want to provide some insite/commentary… that’s cool! It’s a free country, and it’s your site(temorarily) Mr. Negative (the closer) is entitled to his opinions, and if he wants to hate on everything, go ahead, but really that’s no way to live! I promise that if I hear anything interesting out of JMac’s camp I will pass it along…

What are all these congrats for? He hasn’t even had the baby yet. Lets all wait until the site goes to hell and it’s been 3 or 4 days since an update. Then we know he’s gone and he’s actually had the baby. Then it’ll be time for congrats.
j/k congrats and thanks for one of my most visited site.

My 7 month old son loves watching MMA. It sounds crazy, but by the mezmerized look on his face you can tell he actually prefers Pride FC. Other favs are monster trucks and supermodels (thank God!).
God bless your family mania. Parenthood is your highest calling.

Actually I do have business putting this down.
I had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the script for Never Submit and trust me when I tell you, calling it ill-conceived is probably the nicest thing anyone will ever say about this movie once it’s released…
