UFC Quick Quote: Arlovski talks prior to UFC 70

"Cro Cop has lost like all the best fighters. People say a lot of fighters are unbeatable, and at some point in their career, every fighter seems to lose. Anyone that fights him needs to train hard and be prepared for his MMA."

-- Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski talks about a potential showdown with Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic, his upcoming bout with Fabricio Werdum at UFC 70 and more during an exclusive interview with UFCJunkie.com.

Forget Mirko, AA. Your gonna be 1-3 over your last four very soon.

At some point it’s true. All fighters seem to lose. The knockout was one thing. The decision was worse because Tim Sylvia fought the same fight he fought against Monson and Couture, and look what Randy pulled off. I feel that if AA had brought it like Randy he would be champ right now. Werdum will be a true test. He needs this win and it will not come easy. This win will justify whether AA can still be considered one of the best in the HW division.

I just cant wait for this fight. It’s the riskiest fight the UFC has done in a long time besides title fights.

by MoreThanUFC on Apr 15, 2007 12:25 PM EDT reply actions

He would not have looked the same in the 3rd Sylvia fight if his leg wasnt fucked up. When have you ever seen him fight like that? He had nothing to push off on for his punches. Werdum is toast

Do you follow any fighter other than mirko.

I agree that this next fight is do or die for AA. I think he has the tools to be champion even with all the new talent. Hopefully he will take both his mental and physical game to the next level.

by wildbill on Apr 15, 2007 2:42 PM EDT reply actions

He has the physical tools for sure…he just needs to keep his mind right and train with some new people.

by Tommy on Apr 15, 2007 2:44 PM EDT reply actions

AA over CC when the time comes. He has all the tools

by Stafo on Apr 15, 2007 6:38 PM EDT reply actions

I like AA and I think that he can definitely hang with the rest of the top HWs. I’m not gonna bail on him just becaue he had one bad fight against Sylvia. If Randlemann can hang with the HWs in Pride, I dont see why AA cant do the same in the UFC.

by Mahde on Apr 15, 2007 6:43 PM EDT reply actions

The reason AA looked so bad in the third Sylvia fight, was because his knee was swelling up like a baloon. I heard that after the fight it was the size of a watermelon. Or some shit like that. When asked about his injury all he said was “I don’t want to make excuses. i lost the fight”

by broncos12405 on Apr 15, 2007 6:51 PM EDT reply actions

arlovski has a very good chance in my book to beat the over rated cro cop, if couture could beat silvia, arlovski could beat cro cop. I personally think it’s very close to 50 – 50 and cant decide who would win. It all depends on the night if its arlovski’s night cro cop is going down and vise versa.

by nathan on Apr 15, 2007 8:31 PM EDT reply actions

Mirko Smirko…Thats not the problem for AA right now…AA will be a star…here, there..anywhere…all MMA fighters are only humans..They all lose…eventually
AA is a great fighter, that regardless the outcome of the AA VS Werdum fight..Arlovski will still make his name in the world of MMA…His career will not be decided on just this one fight….it will take a number of losses before he gets no spot light……..see ya

by ndnman on Apr 15, 2007 8:46 PM EDT reply actions

I always say this but the highlight reel of him hitting cabbage with “full power” punches still makes me smile.

after aa destroys wedrum cc is next!!

by mikeclem on Apr 15, 2007 9:21 PM EDT reply actions

I think that if AA gets past Werdum then he will be in the mix of great heavy weights. I think a fight between him and CC would depend on AA. I thin if AA treats it like Fedor did, and just stalk him and not let him get any forward momentum he could possibly beat him, but if he fights like he did against Silvia he will get kicked in the head and knocked out. I think if both of them were on there best day, Cro Cop would take it, but Cro cop on a bad day, and AA on a good then I would say AA.

With all that said, we will see if he can past Werdum!

i love AA he has always been one of my favorites, and im just looing forward to him stepping up to the test of the newly bulked up hw devision. It used to be just AA and queer sylvia, i’m glad he has more people to test him that will only make him a more complete fighter.
AA all the way, but i mean always have to give it up to NOG CC and of course randy, he is the smartest man in mma

Pitbull is my favorite all time fighter, win or loose. He will win this, unless something crazy happens. Then he’s probably got the winner of the next title match, I hope. More AA news!!

does arlovski think werdum is a walk in the park? he’s gotta focus on werdum first and foremost and if he wins then maybe he can start talkin bout cro cop.

There are going to be some fireworks when Werdum and AA take the octagon. I’d like to see Arlovski/Vera. CroCop is top notch, but everyone has their days. A majority of people think CroCop is going to dismantle Gonzaga, but I wouldn’t count him out just yet. Either way, both fights should make for some entertainment!

by PACO on Apr 15, 2007 10:27 PM EDT reply actions

AA will destroy Vera. Vera has to move down to 205

by Stafo on Apr 15, 2007 10:32 PM EDT reply actions

They should feed Vera to Big Nog as a warm up fight before he gets into the thick of things in UFC

by Stafo on Apr 15, 2007 10:42 PM EDT reply actions

Arlovski to me has about a 50/50 chance with cro cop who is a great fighter but a little over rated. Fedors day is coming soon every one loses if they fight long enough in mma.

by nathan on Apr 15, 2007 10:58 PM EDT reply actions

GOD the UFC’s HW division just got a WHOLE lot better, AA, CC, Minatura, Randy, Vera. I would love to see Vera thrown in this mix, after they let him warm up with a match against Sylvia. I hope AA gets past Werdum, cuase I would much rather see him in this battle than Werdum. BUt nobody forget none of these matches are gonna even happen unless somebody can get past Randy, who hasnt lost a step, dont forget Randy is good, REAL good, anybody who still counts him out is an idiot.

by Exceptional on Apr 15, 2007 11:50 PM EDT reply actions

AA needs to grow his chest hair out. I think he is like Samson in the Bible only with his chest hair instead of his head hear. He was destroying people then shaved his chest and loses to Sylvia twice. Plus just looks scarier with it.

“Cro Cop has lost like all the best fighters.”

Fedor hasn’t really ever lost.

by Big_B on Apr 16, 2007 7:33 AM EDT reply actions

cro cop is a terrible fight for aa. hes the greatest counter striker in mma and aa is possibly more forward with his stricking…still would be great to watch and as we all know cant count anyone out!!!

by A-Wilk on Apr 16, 2007 8:37 AM EDT reply actions

CC vs. AA would be an awesome fight. Both have KO power, I believe AA is a little better on the ground, CC strikes harder, but AA is faster. IMO it could be a close fight, but I would root for Arlovski. Here’s hoping he can get past Werdum first.

by Matt on Apr 17, 2007 3:08 AM EDT reply actions

AA with CRO COP that will be bad for AA he needs to win TIM MANIAC before he face CRO COP that WAY he gets shot for title other way I can’t see AA overtake CRO COP sorry but it’s true.
BOG I HRVATI!!!
