UFCmania reaches 1,000 MySpace friends

For the past few months we've maintained a MySpace page. And without really doing much, we managed to attract our 1,000th "Friend Request" a week or two ago.

We're now over 1,100, but I've been sitting on this post for a few days.

It's an amazing resource for what we do here -- just about every fighter is wired into the social community. In fact, we frequently pass along what seems to be a solid chunk of news from fighter bulletins and blog posts.

Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre likes us -- we made his top 20. And Jon Fitch appears to be a UFCmaniac, too.

Not bad company at all, if you ask me.

MySpace also gives us a better feel for our readers -- we can actually see them rather than just approve their comments.

Besides taking advantage of a slow news morning to shamelessly plug our page, I want to also let our MySpace readers know that we will be updating it in the next few weeks.

I don't want to give too much away, but it should be a nice improvement. We're also going to start posting more news up there for all the Web rats who are addicted to their pages -- something I can identify with here at UFCmania.com.

I freaking love this site and finally befriended it on MySpace. Anything I can do to expose a few more people to this site I will. Well, almost anything.

I just got a myspace so I guess I will be adding you guys…Why wouldn’t the fighters love this site…They get to see what the fans think of most of them…

Probably why Tim Sylvia and KOS don’t like the website…
