UFC Quick Quote: UFC 72 in Belfast free on SpikeTV?

"Sherdog is reporting that there will be a UFC show on 6/16 in Ireland (I had heard a June show in Belfast for a while, but never a confirmed date) with Martin Kampmann vs. Rich Franklin as a main event. They also said Forrest Griffin vs. Hector Ramirez was in the process of being put together. This show would most likely air on Spike as a three-hour special, unless the HBO deal closes in time."
-- Dave Meltzer from WrestlingObserver.com reports that if the UFC and HBO can't reach a deal soon that UFC 72 could possibly air on the Spike television network for free. On April 21, UFC 70 will be broadcast via tape delay from Manchester, England, on the cable channel.

isn’t ufc 70 the one on april 21 with tape delay?

It’s UFC 70 on 21st of April, UFC71 (Liddell-Jackson) is an US event and so will be UFC 72 (Silva-Marquardt) – so the Ireland event would be UFC 73 and UFC 74 potentially the Couture-CroCop fight.

Yes, made the change. Sorry about the typo. But UFC 72 will be in Ireland on June 16 according to the most recent reports. UFC 73 — the Marquardt-Silva, Sherk-Franca card — is on July 7.

If thats the case screw HBO—-let’s just have all the European shows on Spike. I can handle the tape delay!

I got a question for anyone who knows. For the european cards that are going to be shown on spike, are they going to air all of the bouts on the card including the undercard fights or just the usual fights we get on PPV?

It will probably be a 3 hour event, rather then UFN which is 2. I highly doubt they would do 4 hours. They will think people will lose their attention span, and also they would kill us with commercials.
Main Card Bouts:
-Mirko Cro Cop vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
-Andrei Arlovski vs. Fabricio Werdum
-Ryoto Machida vs. David Heath
-Michael Bisping vs. Elvis Sinosic
-Assuerio Silva vs. Cheick Kongo
They have time to edit so I’m sure they can fit all of them within that time frame. And of course UFC is cool with spike, and if it over runs the time slot, that’s fine with them.

FYI, Belfast is in Northern Ireland, not the Republic of Ireland as your image would suggest. That’s like using the Canadian flag for UFC71 graphics, i.e. a little bit silly.

Shiny Happy Jihad —
Joe Rogan to appear in Belfast
“I’m one of those crazy people who believes that all human beings share one consciousness. So if you”re mean and evil to someone, you’re being evil to yourself. But I also believe in a lot of dumb shit like Bigfoot and UFO’s, so it’s tough to take me seriously. I just find it a little odd that the same government that denies the existence of UFO’s insists on sticking to the “single bullet theory.” Joe Rogan.
You may know Joe Rogan best as either the presenter of Fear Factor or the commentator of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. You might not be aware that he is also one of the hottest properties in American comedy. Following a sold out show in Manchester in April, for one night only he will be bringing his unique brand of comedy to Northern Ireland. His form of stand-up, delivered with characteristic energy and passion, is hysterically funny. The raw honesty and intensity of his performances place him among a rare breed of stand-ups like Sam Kinison, Bill Hicks and Doug Stanhope, who weren’t afraid to share their deepest, darkest thoughts with a roomful of strangers.
Recently he was elevated to super hero status among the comedy community for on stage revealing Carlos Mencia was a joke-thief. Within a matter of hours the video of Rogan confronting Mencia was one of the most watched videos on Youtube and the repercussions have led Rogan to be dropped by his agent, banned from the Comedy Store and further confirmed his status as one of the few comedians brave enough to expose the truth no matter what the consequences.
In spite of ever increasing schedule of work on TV and Hollywood, his first love has remained performing live, and make no mistake about it, you will not see the host of Fear Factor when you come to the club. What you will see is a rabblerousing dynamo who freely speaks his mind, a refreshing change from the polished and scripted laugh-crafters who have made stand-up comedy the somewhat tired art that it is today. Rogan exudes a mad joy for life in all its insanity, depravity, and delicious dirt; if Henry Miller had done stand-up, it would have come out like Joe Rogan’s act.
Joe’s first U.K. DVD will be released later this summer on the Best Medicine label.
“Joe Rogan has earned a reputation as a stand-up whose material can best be described as acerbic, outspoken, vulgar, coarse, offensive, aggressive, volatile, dangerous, bitter, confrontational, cynical, sick, vile, blunt, disgusting and funny.” Austin Chronicle
“he has a delivery like a chemistry experiment, always bubbling away, sometimes under control, sometimes violently, with the exhilarating chance of a dangerous explosion ever-present. He releases this energy in sharp, controlled bursts of angry characterisation, the build-up of emotion and argument packing power to the punchline.” Chortle.co.uk
